XD is actually the sequel to Colosseum, which definitely also had a plot. I highly recommend checking both games out, they have nice narratives and great aesthetics, Colosseum's even one of my favorite games of all time

i would give anything to have another game in that spin-off series, with the same developer if they're still around. it was the perfect 3D pokemon experience with unique animations for every pokemon and attack, and pretty locations and music. i had a dream recently where they made a new one and woke up extremely upset lmao

It's post game in the same way that Dragon Quest IX has a post game. As in, when you "beat it" for the first time, that's when the real game starts.

The Pokemon Ranger series is my favorite. It is really impressive how they made a world that is so different yet still very Pokemon.
I still remember saving up for Pokemon Ranger 1 because it looked so different from the mainline games and I had to try it and I really enjoyed it. Also, Iirc my parents then returned me my money so it was actually free for me. Also, I love the box art with all those shining colors. Oh, an Shadows of Almia is pretty good although I've only see people play it irl. I still need to play that and Guardian Signs tho. I've a soft spot for Pokemon Ranger and I want a new one

God I miss the Pokémon ranger games so much, played Shadows of Almia, and the one after that but remember Shadows the most, haven’t played them in awhile but I remember loving the story so much, I just want that plus a mystery dungeon with our newest starters, I want to play as a scorbunny so bad!

i have played this game four times and i literally cry every time.
The Pokémon TCG game boy games had some surprisingly decent tracks, makes me wish that they made more.
I only wish that the sequel’s soundtrack would get more recognition, because it’s way too good for it not to.
I was going to say the same thing! TCG 2: has some great tracks in it. I personally like the track that plays when you fight any of the Great Rocket members.

1:35 To be fair, they called it the first movie because the sequel, known as Pokemon 2000 in the states, was already set to release in Japan. Remember, America is always roughly a year behind on the movies because the anime started a year ahead in Japan. Pokemon the FIrst Movie was already a year old by the time we got it

@@thyavenger9517 It's not much of a joke. Moreso pointing out that most people that watch gaming videos on YT know that the gameplay formula started with Panel de Pon, but that calling it out that way to a Western audience would just be silly.
@@theSato Pretty sure that most people prefer calling it Panel de Pon these days, mostly thanks to Smash Bros (Lip's Stick, Lip's Theme, the Lip Mii Swordfighter costume, etc). Also, comparing this to Doki Doki Panic/SMB2 is a false equivalency. DDP was already designed as somewhat of a spiritual successor to SMB1, the main playable characters couldn't have been brought over to America due to licensing issues, and the characters, songs, and etc. that did make the transition have been accepted into the Mario canon. Tetris Attack, on the other hand, was a bastardization of Panel de Pon, removing all the characters and charm that the original game had just because they were afraid that cute fairies wouldn't sell as well in America compared to Yoshi and Tetris. Hell, Henk Rogers (the guy that helped bring Tetris to America and co-founded the Tetris Company) even admits that letting Nintendo rename PdP as "Tetris Attack" was a mistake, as he wished that the game was able to stand on its own merits.

you'll better start with pokemon mystery doungen time/darkness/sky, altough I recommend sky for the new storylines that got added and the adjustments.
This is seriously one of the best stories in the series! Never in my life would I have expected that a pokemon game would work THAT hard to tell a really good story with three dimensional characters and hooking twists just like that.
The stories that came after that weren't nearly as surprising as in this era imo

17:58 Pokemon Typing Adventure is a DS Game not 3DS. Also you CAN use the Keyboard with something else. Its a regular Bluetooth Keyboard. Inside the Cartridge is a Bluetooth Receiver. So you can use other Keyboards with the Game and use the Keyboard with everything that can use Bluetooth Keyboards.

I hope this was just a slip of the tongue, and you meant to say that it had twice as many cards as before, a completely new island in addition to the old one, completely revamped and more colorful sprites (for the Pokémom themselves at least), sprites that convey your opponent's current mood, new music tracks, a completely new and different storyline, new characters, collectible coins, new possible rulesets, a game corner, and many other, minor additions.
XD and colosseum both had amazing soundtracks

Conquest is super underrated. It needs more love, and a sequel! It’s sooo good, and I’m so happy I beat it.
Although, I really want you to go more in depth on the Poképark series. Wii and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time. They’re so charming and just amazing, and we’re a huge part of my childhood. It would be awesome if you gave them their own video. God tier games.

FINALLY someone talks about Conquest! I've known of it for so long (haven't played it myself unfortunately) but I've watched plenty and I always thought it was underrated. Thank you Austin!
It's worth a playthrough. The system is fun but could be fleshed out a bit.

Uh yes it will. It's a standard bluetooth keyboard, and you can pair it with a pc or phone without any problems. I never tested it, but I'm sure some consoles would accept it as well. I got the game very cheap and the keyboard is actually very nice!
Yup, I used mine with my phone. It's a pretty nifty little keyboard, especially for the price I paid at the time.

Animations and models are pretty rough tho.
The models and animations are quite stiff and akward looking because they are re-using the 3DS models that were made with that systems smaller screen and lower resolution in mind so the flaws would be less obvious so yes it is kind of a mess when you can see the flaws easily in HD and on a much bigger screen.

I'm planning on getting PMD: Rescue Team DX for my Switch Lite as I'm a huge fan of the PMD games and would love to see a PMD: Explorers DX, and a proper follow-up to Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. Along with loving Pokémon Conquest and would love to see either a HD rerelease/remake for the Switch/Switch Lite, a sequel, or for Nintendo to actually release their original crossover idea that was suggested Pokémon X Fire Emblem.

Red and blue rescue team will always have a special place in my heart since I'd played both of them as a kid and loved them. However I'm really glad you recognized Conquest. It's a severely underrated Pokemon game. Maybe it's because I, too enjoy Final Fantasy Tactics way too much.

One thing to clear things up, Tetris Attack isn't the original base for Pokemon Puzzle League, it's an old Japanese game just called Puzzle League that had anime-styled girls fight it out, including one known as Flower Fairy Lip. That's where the Lip's Stick item in Smash Bros comes from.
Austin: I figured I should take some time and highlight a few of the stand-outs and the weird ones.
Also Austin: It's fucking pinball.
I still fondly remember the times my brother and I spent playing Puzzle League in 3D Versus mode. The game would slow down so much after you reach a certain combo chain that you could spin your blocks around for a good couple minutes to plan your next drops and whatnot.
One match out of 3 could have lasted for a half hour or more and it was the BEST.
I love pokemon mystery dungeon: blue rescue team, my mum one day just turned up from work with it and gave to me and i would play it all the time, i remember constantly restarting the questions trying to retry them to get pikachu

I never understood pinball, and playing pinball is always just randomly flicking the paddles for me but goddamn i played pokemon pinball for ages. The songs and sound effects are just as nostalgic for me as red and blue are.
I still have my old pokemon conquest. I loved that game so much when I was little, it's probably why I started playing Fire Emblem.
My childhood just came back aggressively when you played the background music for the Pokemon TCG game. I spent years of my life in that game.

If you haven't yet, you should totally do a video on Cartoon Network and other flash games! When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford to get me many video games, so I spent a lot of time playing weird little flash games. That clip you showed of Toonami: LOCKDOWN while you were talking about that awful Pokémon racing game just sent me on a mini nostalgia trip, and it would be so cool to see your take on that kind of thing!
Conquest is great and would be the best pokemon game ever if there were more tactical options available. I'm both proud and and ashamed that I have played it enough to pretty much 100% it. Yes, that includes getting the Perfect Links of everyone.
I loved Pokémon coliseum and XD as a kid my main problem is I’ve been wanting to replay them but childhood me didn’t know how to take care of discs and adult me doesn’t have $60 to buy a copy so I haven’t been able too
Pokemon had some awesome spinoffs! Some of my favs are Pokemon Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon XD and Colosseum, and Pokemon Stadium

I will always remember pokemon pinball because I once went on a flight as a kid and the tsa didnt believe it was a gameboy game because of the huge rumble pack part. Well they broke it fucking with it.

There's a pretty simple reason for why they could call it "the first movie" in America. Because the second movie was already out in Japan, so they already had a guaranteed easy money sequel

In my opinion Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX is the best game in the Mystery Dungeon series with it's quality of life changes I especially love how all the Pokémon you've recruited level up each time you go into a Dungeon so you don't need to worry about not being able to use them because their too low level. Pokémon Conquest is also an underrated gem that had good reception but unfortunately didn't sell well.

The keyboard included with the Pokémon typing game absolutely worked on other devices. I hooked it up to my tablet all the time.
