I will never not love how inconsistent Wolfe's energy is on any given ad read. It's always a toss-up as to whether he is super enthusiastic or sounds like he just woke up
the mystery dungeon games, particularly explorers of sky, have such a ridiculous amount of content in it. the story takes about 25 hours to complete, but the actual GAME can last you hundreds of hours. there’s so many optional dungeons, boss fights, side quests, side stories, etc. and the whole time you’re listening to an absolute BANGER soundtrack alongside some of the most expressive sprite work the pokémon series has to offer
Super Mystery Dungeon gets slept on but it did post game content even better in some ways. It gives you a clear goal of befriending all the Pokemon and the postgame content is even better with each legendary being its own boss fight.
I will never forget playing through Explorers of Sky as a 7 year old. The amount of content, the atmosphere, the world, the characters, all amazing. But the story and the soundtrack absolutely boggled my mind and still continue to this day. Chunsoft absolutely killed it with this game.
I remember struggling so hard to beat Dialga and then when I finally did, getting to that final scene and just bawling. The little extra episodes were incredibly amazing as well, the one that I remember the most is the one where you play as Grovyle as the future is fixed and disappears. Heart. Breaking. "While I live, I want to shine. I want to prove that I exist. If I could do something really important... That would definitely carry on into the future."
Another thing he forgot to mention is how PMD explorers of sky has an absolute banger of a soundtrack. When I heard "Through the sea of time" I legitimately got emotional given the impact of the story. I'd put it as the best pokemon game, period.
Dialga’s Fight to the Finish, Don’t Ever Forget and the guild theme are such great tracks that they still play in my head randomly years later. And I still have yet to find a boss fight in Pokémon that matches the intensity of Dialga’s. Not in difficulty nor in story importance. And I have not found a partner in Pokémon that matches your teammate or Grovyle. It is also thanks to PMD that Grovyle is my absolute favourite non legendary Pokémon, only beaten out by Darkrai (thanks to the Rise of Darkrai movie where he held off both Dialga AND Palkia, and even sacrificed himself to save his home)
The mystery dungeon is the only pokemon game that ever brought me to tears...they really know how to develop characters and have you feel a real connection to them...just a shame that the main line games don't have a similar level of story telling
@@brewskimckilgore6796 I fully agree, you should try out Sky whenever you have a chance cus they added more content in there then Time and Darkness UwU
I've played every single Mystery Dungeon game, and I think every single one made me cry. The only one that might be the exception would be Gates to Infinity but that's mostly because I don't remember what the story was.
I'm glad I started the Explorers series with Darkness when I was a kid. It taught me to cherish the time you have with loved ones because you never know when it might end. And naturally, I cried my eyes out at the ending too. I still play my old game file to this day and my team is still as chipper as ever.
Some of the spinoffs are really fun, Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team and Explorers are my favorites, but Ranger, Stadium, and so many others are worth a look
For me Pokemon Rangers: Shadow of Almia is one of the best Pokemon games. The story is insanely good and powerful, the gameplay can be really hard and challenging, and the puzzles are always fun. The use of different pokemons and their habilities and types to fullfil different quests is just really well done here. Highly recommend
EoS is PHENOMENAL. I will never get over the beauty that is this game’s sprite-work, story, challenging gameplay, and especially the music are, including themes like “Fight to the Finish” and “Don’t Ever Forget/I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye”, both of which I’m consistently trying to improve at playing on the piano. I hope one day, EoS-or at least one of the Mystery Dungeon: Explorers entries gets a Switch port/remaster, cuz these games will always hold a special place in my heart.
Pokemon Conquest is pretty fun, and people are actually starting to make room hacks of it if you are into those kinds of things. There's one in particular called twin dragons thats like a rebalncing hack (like radical red) and seems to be really well polished
@@angeloparavella3017 the current existing rom hacks (that I know of) is Reconquered which adds new pokemon, and Hard Mode Plus which has some move differences and an increase in difficulty and then there's my own unreleased one (changing that soon hopefully) which is a difficulty and rebalancing hack
I need this. Conquest is 1000% my most played game over the years and multiple devices, including on computer. I need to get more Pokémon in there, cuz it sounds awesome.
“Explorers of Sky is widely considered the best of the spin-offs” At least half the people who have played the game consider it the peak of Pokémon. (Actually that may or may not be true, I just really like the game.)
Definitely agree. I've been hungry for a Pokemon game to have as good of a story for like well over a decade now. I think that little bit of hope that it can be done again is all that keeps me going with the series at some times
Explorers of Sky is by far the best Pokemon game Story and Music-wise. Its hard to compare it to the mainline games or a lot of the other spin offs tho because the mainline has always been pretty much the same form generation to generation with not a too big focus on the story, more focus on battles, exploring and catching pokemon. The spin offs are just all over the place genre-wise so its basically impossible to compare all to all
Damn, I used to love the Pokepark games as a kid. It sucks to hear that they're apparently mid, but given how long ago it was that I played them, it's not that hard for me to believe. Also, I'm still really hoping that the Pokemon Ranger series comes back someday, as I always thought the Pokemon Rangers were really cool
Yeah, the games are pretty easy they're still just pure fun to me tbh, it's literally just you making friends with other pokemon and that's wholesome af
Haha, I was pretty young when I played pokepark, so I remember some parts being difficult. 😂 I remember in some tag games, you actually had to have strategy, and decide how you need to cut a super fast pokemon off. It probably would be super easy for me to play now, but at the time, I absolutely loved it.
Even if they haven't aged the best, I can never hate the Pokepark series. Will always have nostalgia for that series, would love it if they made a 3rd one
Pokepark 1 and 2 are the best spin-offs in my opinion. I played them religiously as a kid, and I still sometimes play them. They definitely don’t get the love they deserve, and I can only hope that we will one day get a pokepark 3 that lives up to or exceeds the charm of the originals
I always love it when people mention Pokémon Conquest. I remember checking my local target almost every day because it sold out nearly instantly and I NEEDED a copy. It’s a really fun game and it’s a shame people don’t talk about it more. Here’s hoping for Conquest 2!
As a Conquest fan... I don't want a Conquest 2 solely because Koei Tecmo has had a BAD track record these past few years. I simply don't trust them to make a good sequel.
My mom bought it randomly, and I'm Canadian, so the game was not sold here. So that means someone returned it and I'm very happy about it, since it became my favorite game of all time.
you can say what you want, but i love Pokepark so, so much. Its charming, has a nice soundtrack and is just fun to play when i dont want anything complicated. Also, I am a huge Wii stan due to nostalgia mostly. the second Pokepark is nice too
i am a certified pokepark wii appreciator (2 is meh i mostly just like 1 id like a 3rd but id prefer it to take a little bit more from the first with things like having more attractions and whatnot. id also say just trim the playable cast back down to just pikachu but ig having others is fine too) , iagree with basically all of this. grew up with the first game and have beaten it nearly 20 times over with a 100% complete file on my current copy, and at this point i think this game is so deeply burned into my memory i dont think there's anything i DON'T know about this game
When you took so long to mention Pokemon Mystery Dungeon I KNEW it would be top of the list. I also replay Pokemon Sky once every two years, it's such an amazing game and I'm 100% biased towards it.
I had explorers of time back around when it first released, and playing thru sky recently brought back such great memories from those games. Explorers told a story that really made you *feel*. A rare feat for a Pokémon game
Pokepark 1 and 2 were not hard by any means…but finding the right Pokémon for each area and completing the game was so much fun…plus the mini games are phenomenal
I think they might be underrated only in the sense that Glicke mentions, in that not everyone has played them. I am sure there's like only a 1% category that has played em but not loved em
boi i remember stealing from kekleon bro. went on the mat, didnt realize i picked up an item cause i wasnt paying attention. then i walked off and refused to pay cause in my head, i aint get no item so wtf am i paying for..... bro decided to beat my ass that shit was terrifying
Regarding Mystery dungeon, it's not too surprising how good the story of those games are when the studio that made them, Spike Chunsoft, is famous for making really good visual novels like the Nonary games and Danganronpa. But I'm always amazed that on top of their incredible stories full of emotional moments and crazy twists, those games also have tight gameplay and an awesome soundtrack. Seriously Explorers and Super Mystery Dungeon literally have no bad tracks. You can straight up launch the OST on youtube and it's like an hours long album of solid instrumental music :)
@@kingpig8732 Hard disagree, dungeon exploration in this game had enough variety of pokémon and layouts to keep the gameplay engaging imo. It was repetitive sure but it was fun and challenging as well
Explorers of Sky and Pokemon Conquest are the best for me. I loved the special episodes Sky added that really rounded out the story and gave more closure to certain characters. Conquest was Pokemon meets Fire Emblem so I was in love!
Conquest was the only video game i had for years, so many fond memories of that game. I third it for all of its amazing ckntent and the memories that come with it.
I think the first "story" of conquest was really good as well as some of the post game ones, but a lot of the stories are really repetitive and made completing the game more of a chore. I think the foundation of the game is really solid though and I'd love to see them iterate on it (which is unfortunately very unlikely).
"Fun for about ten minutes." I love to see other people's opinion on the game but Pokemon Rumble for the Wii actually was pretty fun. You could shiny hunt though it takes ages, you can even trade certain Pokemon in for legendries and absolutely smash your way through everything with Shaymin's seed flare. Sure it takes.... an ungodly amount of time but I could play that game for hours. Plus you don't have to wait for energy like in Pokemon Rumble World (If I remember correctly had it on 3DS). Now that was a mistake. But most importantly Pokemon Rumble for the Wii hits me hard with nostalgia, and I think a lot of people missed out on it, since you can't get it anymore since the shop on the Wii closed. Overall love the game. I don't want to touch on special traits and levels because it'd take too long. But you could play Pokemon Rumble for the Wii with others using more Wii remotes which was awesome. Pokemon Rumble for the Wii needs more love xD
Shiny hunting was definitely fun, also having to farm for pokemon to trade for legendaries, though some were tough, like Darkai, or Mewtwo, but at least while you were hunting, you could probably find a shiny, and the best part was that those were guaranteed capture and had a special ability. 😎
While it has a myriad of problems, including the storytelling, it has a few things many other Pkmn games don't in the story department. First thing first, the big villain is not evil. Rose doesn't have some random grand scheme to become god/judge and executioner, he has a Savior complex which is refreshing and interesting for Pokémon, even BW fell into the "evil mastermind" pitfall. There a few other good things here and there. Not saying it has an amazing story or anything remotely close to that (outside pkmn main line games this is just terrible), but it does have interesting things here and there when you stop playing with complaining eyes. I particularly like how it contributed to the whole "Titans theory"
The game was so bad I literally dropped my love of pokemon completely and it wasn't until I started walking and my headphones broke that I re-downloaded pokemon go and got back in
@@nuredingeziqi679 Okay but the fact that rose wasn't evil doesn't make it better, actually its worse because he almost has no clear motivation for anything he does, its like they didn't want to give him an actual personality to work off of. Between that, the fact that half of the plot happens off screen with Leon just taking care of it, the whole thing just doesn't work. I will say they had some interesting character moments for both Hop and Sonia, but since the plot revolves around Leon (oh i get lost isnt that so funny haha) and Rose(again he has no reason to do anything he did, he could've just waited one day), it just feels worse that I have to deal with those two bozos
@@Calmasis_1025 But about the Rose stuff that's on you. The dude has for once an interesting idea beneath his actions that explains what he thinks on a more profound level than most villain in the series. The Saviour complex identifies perfectly what he does and why he sees the situation as such a high priority. It's like complaining that a victim falling in love with their aggressor and having Stoccolma Syndrom feels like the author couldn't bother to write a compelling way to make that love bloom. Again the problems are absolutely there with Leon especially and how he resolves everything off screen (it's as if in Sinnoh Cynthia came and you just skipped the bomb lake parts of the game because she was there to fix everything) and he could have had a much more compelling character besides his pokémon skill. But I'm not even talking about him. Overall Swoshi gave its characters a bit more of a decent psychological background and evolution, mainly Hop and Rose which of course are basic shit in most stories, but are not to be taken for granted in Pokémon. I'd say Hop is one of the best written characters in the series, up there with characters like N and Bianca in B/W. It's basically Barry but actually decent with motivation, a decent arc and a cool conclusion where Barry just soldiers on *almost* unfazed. They even have someone related to them who is extremely strong and high profile in the region but Barry never brings up how expectation might be for him and no one seems to know nor care, whereas Hop actually has very interesting stuff to say. I insist on this, Rose and especially Hop are two of the best things in Swoshi
Glazing over the Rumble games like that? Rumble World was really fun and I loved collecting the mon and finding the legendaries, it doesn’t hold up as well as the Mystery Dungeon games but they were still really fun.
Personally I played MD blue team first, and I loved it. When I got explorers of sky, I literally cried at the end. Pokemon conquest and mystery dungeon will always be a favorite spin offs and if you haven't played them, go do that.
Might have been just me but once you play the mystery dungeon series, you never see most of the pokémon the same way ever again, but always in a good way! And the lore, my god the implicit lore the series have when you dig deep outshines every other spinoff. You think Black/White and its sequel had good story writting? You've seen nothing yet.
Explorers of Sky`s music still gives me emotional damage every time i listen to one of the OSTs. Its crazy how good it is. That was the reason why i played the new Mistery Dungeon. And while having SOME crazy moments and amazing visuals, it was very sad how short the story was, a big dissapointment.
The Sky Temple theme is an insane bop. Literally my only complaint about the game is the reused character models for the warriors you can recruit. Like if each recruitable warrior had its own unique model, the game would be a real 10/10.
Gotta say PokePark 2 is an absolute jam of a game. "for babies" kinda diminishes it. It might be more true for the first one but the second one is genuenly fun. In addition to simple games like hide and seek and tag it also has real time 3d battles. And while pretty sinple as well are really fun. and it's sound design alone is just pure happieness Can't say anything about the first one tho, haven't played it but from what I hear the things from the video apply more to that than the second one. But I high key that style of game gets a revival some time. Playing a pokemon and battling in a 3d rpg environment is really fun.
Pokepark 1 also has 3d battling. The games share the same core of course but 2 is way more polished in my opinion, the only better thing 1 does are some area designs.
Yeah I've played the duology multiple times, it's a very fun and laidback/cozy experience. IMO saying its "for babies" is a cringe take. Lots of people love it because they like cozy games.
The first one definitely felt aimed at a younger audience even when I WAS the younger audience but it was genuinely cool being able to control a 3D Pokemon
I'm glad to know that the Pokemon explorer series are the best spin off game you choose. The game's stories are so well told, it's like playing an Isekai version of pokemon.
Mystery dungeons is timeless, I still get waves of nostalgia whenever I hear youtubers reuse the temporal tower theme or the dialga fight theme, some of the best songs in gaming period.
I actually played a lot of Pokemon Duel, and as a free to play gamer, it was actually really interesting trying to beat the insanely overpowered decks they kept implementing, but I still hit top 500 all time through just f2p cards/methods. Although that was the game i hit a 1/3^7 chance to lose a game, so maybe it wasnt as good as I remember it to be.
I really loved Pokémon Duel. I was also F2P and did take well in ranked, though I'm not sure where I peeked. It was extremely satisfying clapping players with teams of super rare figures with my starter Pokémon and Shuppets
Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of time/darkness/sky is by far the best spin off game in gaming history the emontions in the games were on another level there was so many twists in the story i don't care what people say but this is the best pokemon game ever
Hey, Red and blue rescue team were also fantastic! If someone was put off mystery dungeon by them, it wasn't the games fault. Also cool to see conquest mentioned, I never played it recently but earlier this year tried it on an Emu and was surprised how fun it was for how little I had heard of it.
Red Rescue Team & Blue Rescue Team are fantastic and their remake game Mystery Dungeon DX I love Explorers of Time, Darkness & Sky and also Gates To Infinity.
I have been playing red rescue team for almost 8 years, trying to befriend all pokemon, I started playing on cartridge and dumped my save with a DS I bought last year and I'm still play TODAY this game! It really is one of my favorite pokemon games! I will try the explorer of time once I 100% red rescue team!!!
I really like the Pokepark series. When I was way younger I got on RUclips and just watched the Pokepark 2 Battle Tournament where players chose either one of the Unova starters or Pikachu and fought through an onslaught of powerful, mostly fully evolved opponents. I also just love the graphics and seeing Pikachu charge up Thunderbolt, stun an opponent, and then beat the absolute crap out of them. Good days. Day 16 of asking Wolfe to use Dusk Lycanroc
Nah pokemon duel was actually a really fun game, there was full on voice acting for the story and the gameplay was suprisingly good. Wish it was still around ngl
I was very close to cry so many times when playing explorers of sky.the lore is a billion times better than any spin-off or main story games.I personally think that Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of sky is superior to any other Pokemon game
PMD2 has a place in my heart because I played it when it launched. It taught me that while it's sad to see your adventure end, and someone you know die, the journey will continue. 7 year old me first learned what death was from the end of the game and its one of my first memories I have in general. I literally made a wooden computer desk that's based off the Time gear pedestal in temporal tower and i hand painted it. It also glows in the dark somewhat. Its the ONE game that a) if they ever remake it I could die happy knowing that a new generation of pokemon players could experience the beautiful world that Chunsoft made And b) showing people that pokemon stories can be heartwarming, heartbreaking, have an amazing OST, actually give people a challenge, and let them see why we enjoyed the game so much when someone asks 'whats your favorite game of all time/favorite pokemon game' Because PMD2 is that reason.
Watching the development of this channel has been incredible, especially considering Wolfe ends it with a line apologizing for the video being all over the place. The organization and buildup of videos like this show amazing development as a creator, in addition to the immediately obvious knowledge Wolfe has. Love the take on Pokemon conquest but I will not accept Pokemon Rumble slander.
Explorers of sky was like my third overall pokemon game and it inmediately hooked me with great music and fun gameplay Its story actually rumps up in a very smooth manner, never really feeling like it has made a sudden tone change
Alright wolf, I’ll challenge that take with, X and Y are PEAK Pokémon story. None of the mainline games felt like anything was actually on the line till X and Y came around and basically told a bunch of children “hey, an entire country of pokemon and people were all killed by this guy”
I love Mystery Dungeon, don’t get me wrong, but the Ranger series will always be my favourites! Especially Guardian Signs. I’m doing environmental science at uni and I’m doing a lot of ecology and conservation specifically so being a Ranger in the Pokémon Universe would absolutely be amazing for me, I just love everything about playing those games. 🥰🥰
I did have plenty of fun with Guardian Signs even if personally it didn't match Sky. My sister and I have fond memories of playing through so much of the multiplayer story with Luxray and Drapion, two of some of our favourite Gen 4 Pokémon respectively.
Love this video! My favorite ewan stadium 2 for the mini games! I may stream explorers of the sky because I’ve never played it before and your pitch intrigued me!
I actually got a copy of Pokémon Conquest from a game stop for like 30 dollars a couple years ago so I was surprised when he mentioned how rare the game was
When speaking about the mobile games i just have to say Pokemon Duel was seriously fun, I played it a ton and I was really sad to open it one day to a message saying it's been shut down. I wish I could play it again. Pokemon Masters EX is a better game than a lot of people give it credit for, it's pretty fun, it's got great character designs and sure it's a gacha game but it really isn't necessary to pay with real money, you earn a lot of gems just from playing. The other mobile games though, like Cafe Remix, Shuffle etc, yeah theyre pretty pay to win and pretty bad
Pokemon Masters EX is also one of the most official ways for mainline characters to get their own story closure if you care about the story in Pokemon. Still kinda dissapointed that USUM is considered to be the canon one, but i still like Lusamine's event. All 3 N's event proves that DeNa is biased towards Gen 5, because they're the most action packed event.
I feel personally attacked 😂 I was addicted to Pokémon Shuffle for years. Never spent a penny! It's not necessarily pay to win - if you don't mind the grind. They stopped updating the game a long time ago and just cycle through old content. I put so many hours into that game it's ridiculous. Never going more than 2.5 hours during waking hours to make sure your heart counter never hit the max. Playing the Meowth stage over and over and over again grinding for money so you could have a chance to rank decently in the weekly competitive stage. My goodness, my life is so much more relaxed now that I quit playing - or rather, I have more important things to stress me out these days 😁
XD Gale of Darkness was my first pokemon game and absolutely love it to this day. If nothing else about this game, the music is so overwhelmingly amazing that I still think it competes or even beats new pokemon games music.
@@JimboMarsh I am fully ready to admit that I haven't heard all of Colosseum music, but at the very least I strongly prefer the XD Miror B. Theme. The Colosseum one is pretty good, but XD is so funky and such a sweet jam that I can't even compare them personally.
Man, I have been saying Pokemon would fit the auto battler formula perfectly since the original DOTA Auto Chess came out years ago. So awesome to hear someone so high profile say it!
Everyone loves Shadows of Almia but imo, Guardian Signs is my personal favorite. The game may not have as much silly diologue as Shadows of Almia but it does tell a much deeper story and there is even a multiplayer side mode that expands the lore of the Oblivia region even further with it's own separate story that involves Celebi and in a special Wi-Fi event, it even adds Deoxys. I think my favorite part about Ranger was transferring Pokémon to your Generation 4 games like Manaphy and Heatran. Also Pokémon Conquest is such a fantastic game. I remember getting it at Toys-R-Us when it released and I never stopped playing it while I was probably 10 or 11 lmao. Btw Pokémon Duel was the best spin-off. The whole concept was such a unique idea and the story was actually very compelling and deep for a Pokémon game in the 3DS era. Now Pokémon Masters, holy crap this game is great. I can't tell you how many hours I have in it. The story is fantastic the gameplay is much more easily accessible now and the gacha system...well It's still the worst out of any Nintendo mobile game not counting Mario Kart Tour.
I'm like the very rare type of people who doesn't like Shadows of Almia instead i like Pokemon Rangers (the very first one) the most since it was so challenging every time i played it and i replayed it like about 10 times or so as far as i can remember, Shadows of Almia didn't play that much since i didn't like the whole rating thing that would appear after every single capture (sorry, not sorry) but the Guardian Signs was pretty good and i liked the story mode a lot 🙂
I only played Guardian Signs but I really like the game and bought a copy for my friend and his sister. In part because I wanted to do the multiplayer which was amazing. One of my favorite boss fights was beating deoxy with my friend (Couldn't get his sister to play sadly) All the boss fights that I remember were really good both in the multiplayer and the actual story.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is pretty good. I feel like it really improved my skills at reading aloud, because I liked to voice the characters and read their lines as I played. I do like Puzzle League and Puzzle Challenge a lot too, if that wasn't obvious from my profile picture.
I'm so glad you brought attention to Conquest. It's been 10 years and I still haven't fully completed the game once, despite getting it when it came out and it being my favorite game that I have ever played. It's genuinely very hard.
*laughs in Guardian Charms* Seriously though, give a single warrior a Guardian Charm and you can then fight your foes with double attack and defense, as well as extra range. It’s seriously OP.
My favorite Pokemon spin-off is easily Conquest (well, besides Coliseum and XD, but they still have mainline battle mechanics). Interesting characters, a decent storyline, and a shockingly well executed combat system made a game that I sank multiple hours into. I'm glad to hear someone else say that it's very underrated.
We had Pokemon Stadium growing up (I'm assuming 2 since we had those mini games). When my cousins would come over, we would set up secret teams and battle each other. We would also do the mini game tournament
PokePark 2 is one of the best pokemon spin-offs, I really love that game, you can be Pokémon, have 4 minigames that can be played with friends, and the story is very good
Bro i got my mons from my OG diamond stuck in my pokemon ranch. I used an action replay code from supercheats which for some reason made my name aydin in-game and since then i could never withdraw my pokemon. You just brought back this memory lmao
I put a Ar for the wii in and Pokemon Revolution didn't want to work, then I realized I put it in upside and backwards. So atleast you didn't pull that.
It never made sense to me that the Colosseum games are considered spinoffs but PLA isn't. Colosseum has the same battle mechanics as the core series and the same focus of battling trainers to advance a story. Not that I'm making a value judgement, just that it doesn't match what a spinoff means in my mind.
Pokemon Channel is just vibin and you know what, that's fine, i invested hours into that game as a kid. you don't really *do* much of anything besides netflix and chill, i still really enjoyed it
I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky for quite a while and it was fun... The Manectric and Electrike boss fight really made me want to lose my mind with how difficult it was for me though (I was a water type with no sleep seeds)
While they’re not my favorites, Pokepark and Rumble are very dear to me. Most of Pokepark 1 is baby easy, but completing every minigame is genuinely difficult and they’re really fun mini-games too. And Pokepark 2 was fun having multiple characters to play as, even if you didn’t get to pick who they were. I always thought the minigames weren’t as good as the first one tho. The first Rumble I could play for hours bc it’s the type of dungeon crawler I genuinely like, mashy. The 2nd Rumble adds a story which was pretty good for a game about toys. The Wii U Rumble and Mobile Rumble both suck, and the free-to-play 3DS Rumble is alright besides the FtP aspect. And both spinoffs have pretty good soundtracks. I think expanding Pokepark into an open-world platformer with good minigames and choosing who your multiple characters are would make a 3rd game really good. And adding depth to Rumble’s gameplay would be really good if they ever did a new one
Honestly I have more positive memories of the Pokémon spin-offs than the mainlines, mystery dungeon, snap, pokepark, conquest, I’ve played all of these so many times and have never been bored of them
Stadium 2 is what really made me love Pokémon, being able to take my mons over and actually see the fights was mind blowing as a kid! And to be honest, Colliseum is to this day probably my favorite game in the series because it was unique but still true to the battle style of the hand held games.
I got wildly addicted to Magikarp Jump when it came out - made it one of my favourite Pokémon! They also released The Magikarp Song around the same time which made them all the more lovable 🧡
Yes,the rental pokemon were rather bad. That said, there's also that feeling that you're just getting an additional challenge for beating the game. Kinda like how someone nuzlocked emerald kaizo rather than just nuzlocking the regular game :)
Tbh I kinda miss Pokémon duel, especially since I had a lot of rare things in it And Pokémon Masters Ex is really fun, there’s always an event happening all the time
I love Masters EX, but I've had really bad luck with scouting lately and I've been playing the game since it's release; aside from that, I love the voice acting, the battle system, and of course the little stories they put in each event.
If Masters Ex didn't have gameplay that made me question my life choices, I'd love it; the music team absolutely outdid themselves working on a mobile game!
I appreciate you speaking Yiddish when describing the tough journey that is known to others as bringing/carrying/transporting your retro gaming systems even after they became "obsolete" Cheers to the use of the Yiddish word and incidentally one of my favorites schlep
To answer the question: Pokemon Conquest. There, saved you a 25 minute video. But in all seriousness -- even aside from having Eevee as your 'starter', or the protagonist literally being me irl, Pokemon having a turn based tactics game of this nature was just a great fit. I'd love to see them revisit it.
Conquest was fun... up until I completed the main story. Then it abruptly became a tedious mess with all those side stories. That and having my link percentages reset just killed my enthusiasm quicker than you can say "A critical hit".
Pokken tournament is still some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing fighting games, and it makes me so sad when I think of how people don’t play it very much. I still get so nostalgic thinking about playing it…
They should just make it free to boost up some new dedicated fans and then after some time release Pokken Tournament 2 for the Switch at a reasonable price.
A bare-faced Wolfey is like a wolf without fur, the stuff of nightmares, especially with the side-eye 😅 Also really loved the ‘Champion’ bit on the TCG part. Actually, loved the vid. Period. Would actually love to see a playthrough of some of these.
I remember playing Mystery dungeon explorers of darkness as a kid and the soundtrack is legit my favourite pokemon ost of all time. It is such a banger.
Pokemon Duel is extremely underrated. It was a wonderful game and a huge part of my childhood, I loved all the strategy that went into it and how easy it was to get good Pokemon. I miss it...
I actually really like how Pokemon Masters helps flesh out a bunch of different human characters's personalities. I also remember it being very kind to its F2P players, but I've been to lazy to play it for the last couple of months so I can't tell anymore. But it's overall a very good game for fans of the humans in the franchise.

the mystery dungeon games, particularly explorers of sky, have such a ridiculous amount of content in it. the story takes about 25 hours to complete, but the actual GAME can last you hundreds of hours. there’s so many optional dungeons, boss fights, side quests, side stories, etc. and the whole time you’re listening to an absolute BANGER soundtrack alongside some of the most expressive sprite work the pokémon series has to offer
Super Mystery Dungeon gets slept on but it did post game content even better in some ways. It gives you a clear goal of befriending all the Pokemon and the postgame content is even better with each legendary being its own boss fight.
Agreed those were the best
This was my childhood
To this day I haven't completed blue rescue team yet. Not that I play it much nowadays but man that game is huge
@@zoruasnivy Super is still my all time fav game
I will never forget playing through Explorers of Sky as a 7 year old. The amount of content, the atmosphere, the world, the characters, all amazing. But the story and the soundtrack absolutely boggled my mind and still continue to this day. Chunsoft absolutely killed it with this game.
I remember struggling so hard to beat Dialga and then when I finally did, getting to that final scene and just bawling. The little extra episodes were incredibly amazing as well, the one that I remember the most is the one where you play as Grovyle as the future is fixed and disappears. Heart. Breaking.

@@jellycore1316 literally have a clip of this song as my phones ring tone! It’s such a good song!
Another thing he forgot to mention is how PMD explorers of sky has an absolute banger of a soundtrack. When I heard "Through the sea of time" I legitimately got emotional given the impact of the story. I'd put it as the best pokemon game, period.
And Fight to the Finish in Dialga's fight 👌🏼
ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDTRACKS
the crystal cave theme makes me feel things I've never felt before
I legit almost tear up every time I hear the soundtrack. OfflineTV uses the songs in their group videos a lot, and it always makes me happy
I need a remake of PMD sky for Switch
Honestly, true. Even Ultra Necrozma didn't match Primal Dialga for me. And Primal Dialga didn't even need doubled stats for this.

Rangers series is good too
I'm glad I started the Explorers series with Darkness when I was a kid. It taught me to cherish the time you have with loved ones because you never know when it might end. And naturally, I cried my eyes out at the ending too. I still play my old game file to this day and my team is still as chipper as ever.
same, but with Sky. absolutely beautiful game, first introduction to pokemon games. needless to say, my favourite pokemon is grovyle.
Blue & sky were amazing.
Started with Red and fell in love. After Sky they ruined it. So keep on back and forth between now gx (gameboy died) and sky.
Some of the spinoffs are really fun, Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team and Explorers are my favorites, but Ranger, Stadium, and so many others are worth a look
Rescue team, stadium, colosseum.
Pokemon Unite

Bro when your partner started crying after you cleared the dungeon( I'm being vague incase anyone that hasn't played it). The complete grief you saw
Pokemon Conquest is pretty fun, and people are actually starting to make room hacks of it if you are into those kinds of things. There's one in particular called twin dragons thats like a rebalncing hack (like radical red) and seems to be really well polished
thank you for mentioning my rom hack lmfao?? it's planned to come out this month or early next
Really? What are the best romhacks? I still play Conquest to this day, i love that game.
@@angeloparavella3017 the current existing rom hacks (that I know of) is Reconquered which adds new pokemon, and Hard Mode Plus which has some move differences and an increase in difficulty
and then there's my own unreleased one (changing that soon hopefully) which is a difficulty and rebalancing hack
I'll have to give this a shot, always bothered me how Vaporeon was clearly just better than the other Eeveelutions in that game
I need this. Conquest is 1000% my most played game over the years and multiple devices, including on computer. I need to get more Pokémon in there, cuz it sounds awesome.
“Explorers of Sky is widely considered the best of the spin-offs”
At least half the people who have played the game consider it the peak of Pokémon. (Actually that may or may not be true, I just really like the game.)
Definitely agree. I've been hungry for a Pokemon game to have as good of a story for like well over a decade now. I think that little bit of hope that it can be done again is all that keeps me going with the series at some times
This is just factual
No no, trust me, i have to yet find someone that dislike explorer of sky in all the internet. The game is just too good
Explorers of Sky is by far the best Pokemon game Story and Music-wise.

Yeah, the games are pretty easy
they're still just pure fun to me tbh, it's literally just you making friends with other pokemon and that's wholesome af
They aren't mid lmao
Even if they haven't aged the best, I can never hate the Pokepark series. Will always have nostalgia for that series, would love it if they made a 3rd one
@@diabeticman2194 same man
Pokepark 1 and 2 are the best spin-offs in my opinion.
I see a fellow pokemon conquest fan, literally one of my favorite games of all time to the point where I broke the "Law" to play it more.
Scrolled down to see a conquest comment. I wish it would come back
I've spent so many hours playing conquest. I friggin love that game
you can say what you want, but i love Pokepark so, so much. Its charming, has a nice soundtrack and is just fun to play when i dont want anything complicated. Also, I am a huge Wii stan due to nostalgia mostly. the second Pokepark is nice too
Same! It's just such a comfy game to go back to occasionally 😄
as a 30 year old man i love pokepark
Same! Never played the 2nd though because the games are so expensive now, maybe could emulate it
i am a certified pokepark wii appreciator (2 is meh i mostly just like 1 id like a 3rd but id prefer it to take a little bit more from the first with things like having more attractions and whatnot. id also say just trim the playable cast back down to just pikachu but ig having others is fine too) , iagree with basically all of this. grew up with the first game and have beaten it nearly 20 times over with a 100% complete file on my current copy, and at this point i think this game is so deeply burned into my memory i dont think there's anything i DON'T know about this game
When you took so long to mention Pokemon Mystery Dungeon I KNEW it would be top of the list. I also replay Pokemon Sky once every two years, it's such an amazing game and I'm 100% biased towards it.
Rumble got done dirty here, one of my favorite spin off series.

I’ve must’ve replayed pokepark 2 like 15 times
Mystery Dungeon, hands down. Always felt like those games were criminally underrated but that might be my nostalgia talking
P sure most people that have played it loved it do not sure about underrated
I think they might be underrated only in the sense that Glicke mentions, in that not everyone has played them. I am sure there's like only a 1% category that has played em but not loved em
easily, and it's not even a contest. explorers, to be specific.
boi i remember stealing from kekleon bro. went on the mat, didnt realize i picked up an item cause i wasnt paying attention. then i walked off and refused to pay cause in my head, i aint get no item so wtf am i paying for..... bro decided to beat my ass that shit was terrifying
No, those games are a chore to play through
Regarding Mystery dungeon, it's not too surprising how good the story of those games are when the studio that made them, Spike Chunsoft, is famous for making really good visual novels like the Nonary games and Danganronpa.
GtI also has a phenomenal soundtrack, legit don't think there's been a single miss in the franchise music wise
Fittingly the main villain of DR would love the concept of Mystery Dungeons.
yeah the story and the music was good, but the gameplay oh god its so boring. Made me quit explorers of the sky early
@@kingpig8732 Hard disagree, dungeon exploration in this game had enough variety of pokémon and layouts to keep the gameplay engaging imo. It was repetitive sure but it was fun and challenging as well
@@kingpig8732 Fair enough, I never had an issue with the game feeling repetitive but that's up to personal preference at that point
I really liked the darker, more mature story arcs in Colosseum and XD. They felt like the first and only time Pokémon targeted an older audience.
Mystery dungeon
Legends Arceus gets pretty mature too, and in Super Mystery Dungeon everyone you love literally goes to Hell.
Explorers of Sky and Pokemon Conquest are the best for me. I loved the special episodes Sky added that really rounded out the story and gave more closure to certain characters. Conquest was Pokemon meets Fire Emblem so I was in love!
Yup, those are probably the best. After that, it's SoA. All the Pokemon spinoffs are good games, except for maybe the remake of MD on Switch.
Conquest is incredibly fun and surprisingly has a lot of content. Glad wolfey thinks so too.
Seconding Pokemon Conquest. The Gen 1 of Mystery Dungeon had a super cool vibe but Conquest had some super intense moments
Agree
There’s a whole ass community for Pokémon conquest
And it’s way smaller than it should be
Game is not talked about enough
What about Rumble Blast on the 3DS? I loved that game!
Though I only played it once, I definitely enjoyed Rumble on the Wii! The multi-player was a very fun aspect.

I died from laughing too hard when Wolfe said 'play sword/shield' and 'for the story' in the same sentence

PMD Sky is the best, hands down. The music, the story, all of it is just masterfully done.
Personally I played MD blue team first, and I loved it. When I got explorers of sky, I literally cried at the end. Pokemon conquest and mystery dungeon will always be a favorite spin offs and if you haven't played them, go do that.
Pokemon mystery dungeon: explorers of sky is the best Pokemon spin-off by far

Yep
I prefer conquest personally
Agreed i played the time version but i am sure sky is equally good as time even it can be better than time i never played it
Na I think supers better sky is really good though
Pokémon conquest had such a good soundtrack and if it was remade now it would most likely do very well.
Cragspur’s drums hit different
The Sky Temple theme is an insane bop. Literally my only complaint about the game is the reused character models for the warriors you can recruit. Like if each recruitable warrior had its own unique model, the game would be a real 10/10.
Gotta say, after hearing how tough Pugilis was from Oichi, the intro really set the scene for a tough battle

"for babies" kinda diminishes it. It might be more true for the first one but the second one is genuenly fun.
In addition to simple games like hide and seek and tag it also has real time 3d battles. And while pretty sinple as well are really fun.
and it's sound design alone is just pure happieness
Can't say anything about the first one tho, haven't played it but from what I hear the things from the video apply more to that than the second one.
But I high key that style of game gets a revival some time. Playing a pokemon and battling in a 3d rpg environment is really fun.
I loved Pokepark. I remember doing some mew chase and I literally couldn't beat it as a kid and I threw my wii remote LOL
Yah something feels off with how fast he dismissed it, I would claim he didn’t play the whole game
I loved the ranger games, and while I'd love to have a new one I have absolutely no idea how they'd bring it back
While the circle drawing would be hard, I think pokemon legends arceus is a pretty base if you took out the actual battles

Good days.

Its the ONE game that a) if they ever remake it I could die happy knowing that a new generation of pokemon players could experience the beautiful world that Chunsoft made
And b) showing people that pokemon stories can be heartwarming, heartbreaking, have an amazing OST, actually give people a challenge, and let them see why we enjoyed the game so much when someone asks 'whats your favorite game of all time/favorite pokemon game'
Because PMD2 is that reason.
Really hope they will remake explores especially with that shiny celebi in Rescue Team DX hinting at it.
For me Pokemon stadium as a kid was amazing. Seeing the Pokemon in 3d was incredible as a kid. As a teenager, easily the Pokemon colosseum games.
Explorers of sky was like my third overall pokemon game and it inmediately hooked me with great music and fun gameplay
Its story actually rumps up in a very smooth manner, never really feeling like it has made a sudden tone change
Alright wolf, I’ll challenge that take with, X and Y are PEAK Pokémon story. None of the mainline games felt like anything was actually on the line till X and Y came around and basically told a bunch of children “hey, an entire country of pokemon and people were all killed by this guy”
Pokémon Conquest will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope to God they make another one someday. They're sitting on a goldmine.

Ranger and Snap were cool because you got to see some actual behavior from wild Pokémon besides “oh look a trainer better fight em”
you can even make guardian signs or shadows of almia harder if you are looking for a challenge if you don't upgrade your styler
I did have plenty of fun with Guardian Signs even if personally it didn't match Sky. My sister and I have fond memories of playing through so much of the multiplayer story with Luxray and Drapion, two of some of our favourite Gen 4 Pokémon respectively.

When speaking about the mobile games i just have to say
Pokemon Duel was seriously fun, I played it a ton and I was really sad to open it one day to a message saying it's been shut down.
Unite is Not pay to win at all.
@@michawkwalter4205 Unite is more so a switch game that was ported to mobile since it came out on the switch first
Pokemon Masters EX is also one of the most official ways for mainline characters to get their own story closure if you care about the story in Pokemon.
This list is absolutely correct, Just listening to the ending theme "dont ever forget" from explores of sky makes me tear up after a decade
I've listen to it so often that it kinda lost it's effect just becouse of how great the music is.
Bro why you gotta make me cry like that
Pokemon Rumble was actually such a fun game and playing it multiplayer was even better
I played the crap out of the Rumble demo on Wii, I would do it over and over with my friends
i really loved the music!!!
XD Gale of Darkness was my first pokemon game and absolutely love it to this day. If nothing else about this game, the music is so overwhelmingly amazing that I still think it competes or even beats new pokemon games music.
I like Colosseum’s music more but Gale of Darkness has more content. Love them both.
@@JimboMarsh I am fully ready to admit that I haven't heard all of Colosseum music, but at the very least I strongly prefer the XD Miror B. Theme. The Colosseum one is pretty good, but XD is so funky and such a sweet jam that I can't even compare them personally.
@@blakeslone9820 Yeah Miror B.’s theme is great in both but I personally think Colosseum’s overall soundtrack is better. Check it out when you can.
@@blakeslone9820 Miror B's Col. theme fit his Ludicolo. Miror B's XD theme fits *him*
I love both colo and gale of darkness, but gale has to be my all time favorite as those are some fond memories I shared with my father
Conquest was and still is one of my favorite pokemon spinoffs and I'm flabbergasted to see it being covered in this video
Man, I have been saying Pokemon would fit the auto battler formula perfectly since the original DOTA Auto Chess came out years ago. So awesome to hear someone so high profile say it!
The Pokepark games have a special place in my heart, especially Pokepark 2: Wonders Beyond
One of my favorite boss fights was beating deoxy with my friend (Couldn't get his sister to play sadly) All the boss fights that I remember were really good both in the multiplayer and the actual story.
full agree, gs is the best one
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is pretty good. I feel like it really improved my skills at reading aloud, because I liked to voice the characters and read their lines as I played.
I do like Puzzle League and Puzzle Challenge a lot too, if that wasn't obvious from my profile picture.
PPL for life! A lot of fun memories in college once my roommate brought his N64 up and we both became good enough to win on s.hard
Dude, POKÉMON Conquest is SO GOOD
I’m so glad you enjoyed Pokémon conquest, it’s one of my top five Pokémon games along with Pokémon mystery dungeon (explorers of sky specifically)
I can just picture wolfed smiling/laughing while recording the sponsored segment 😭
I'm so glad you brought attention to Conquest. It's been 10 years and I still haven't fully completed the game once, despite getting it when it came out and it being my favorite game that I have ever played. It's genuinely very hard.
felt,,
it brings me so much joy when its mentioned
*laughs in Guardian Charms*
Seriously though, give a single warrior a Guardian Charm and you can then fight your foes with double attack and defense, as well as extra range. It’s seriously OP.
@@Hadaron I have never gotten the Guardian Charm lol.
We need a Pokémon Conquest sequel!
We had Pokemon Stadium growing up (I'm assuming 2 since we had those mini games). When my cousins would come over, we would set up secret teams and battle each other. We would also do the mini game tournament
same exact story here! my first Pokemon game. I still have the N64 & game
I actually liked all mystery dungeons. Idk playing as a pokemon feels so good, and I like the story especially blue rescue team :)))
LOL
Pokemon duel was actually so good, i miss it so much😭
I got wildly addicted to Magikarp Jump when it came out - made it one of my favourite Pokémon!
There's nothing on there that can even think about beating the first dewgong of Loralei. Atleast emerald kaizo is possible 🤷♀️
Tbh I kinda miss Pokémon duel, especially since I had a lot of rare things in it
And Pokémon Masters Ex is really fun, there’s always an event happening all the time
Same but Masters never feels the same as Duel.
Pokemon is somehow the only series where it's not uncommon for spinoffs to be better quality than the main series
I appreciate you speaking Yiddish when describing the tough journey that is known to others as bringing/carrying/transporting your retro gaming systems even after they became "obsolete"
Cheers to the use of the Yiddish word and incidentally one of my favorites schlep
The editing on Wolfey’s videos continues to get better and better. Keep up the work! :)
I still get so nostalgic thinking about playing it…
It's just obnoxious that they paywalled the online pvp, bullying people with Gardevoir was fun
imo it felt a bit clunky to play from swapping between fighting styles. game still looks really good and is an excellent concept
They should just make it free to boost up some new dedicated fans and then after some time release Pokken Tournament 2 for the Switch at a reasonable price.
Pokémon conquest needs a sequel I need it
A bare-faced Wolfey is like a wolf without fur, the stuff of nightmares, especially with the side-eye 😅
Also really loved the ‘Champion’ bit on the TCG part.
But it's overall a very good game for fans of the humans in the franchise.
the reason why I love wolfey because he's simply competitive I love watching his battles in competitive (not in the crowd just in vids) and his tier lists are super close to my taste because his tier list isn't just choke full of favorites
