  • Konami's had a rough life. But before their lack of games on the new gen, they were pumping out Frogger, Contra, Castlevania's and one offs like you wouldn't believe. Rocket Knight on Nintendo Switch please. Here's a bunch of forgotten, obscure and weird Konami games!
Thanks to MrNovaForce for supporting and sponsoring this episode via Patreon! His pick of Shadow of Destiny made me really interested to go digging again and I'm happy with the way this came out.

Finding the PS2 copy and console is not hard per se, but the odd resolution (240p) might not work in some televisions if you are using component cables. Legacy of War? The Contra Adventure for PS1 is even more obscure imo, although I played it a hell of a lot back in the day. Can't wait for your coverage of it

It's by no means the worst thing Konami is doing with their IPs, but that Shadow of Destiny game sounds awesome and absolutely would benefit from a remake. There are never enough time travel mystery games.

Just watched a 3 minute video segment about the weird 3D-platformer Frogger game I played when I was 10 and I'm still not 100% sure it really existed and wasn't just a fever dream.

Shadow of Destiny really was an odd experience. Not the best, but an interesting concept nonetheless. I ended up picking it up on a random whim one day, and I'm glad I did. Thanks for covering it!

I just want to point out the Castlevania Judgement doesn't get enough credit in my opinion. Sure it's a bit of a broken mess but I find the art style really endearing and it was a genuine attempt at doing a 3D brawler via power Stone. This was a passion project by Koji igarashi after getting pressure to do a Wii exclusive Castlevania game. It's actually pretty Dynamic how each character interact with each other based on where they fit in the lore and I really dug the art style by the same dude who did Death Note. People complain that the Art Direction and thought it was weird but I thought it was a cool and interesting take on it as opposed to doing the classic Ayami designs. Also fun fact you can link judgment in the Wii to your Castlevania order of Ecclesia in your DS buy a Nintendo connection and it unlocks Shanoa as a playable character as well as unlocking rare items in order of Ecclesia. The combat just feel a bit broken sometimes but conceptually I think it was really cool and if it ever got it's equal which I know it never will it could have had a lot of potential.

    You should look into Boktai.
I know it's not that obscure, having most of its games released in the West, but the most I hear it being referred to as "that game where you need sunlight" or "that game that linked up to Megaman Battle Network."

I remember getting Shadows of Destiny for the PC, and never really figuring out how to get it to work. Now that it'd be even more of a pain to play on computers, my copy will exist in my desk drawer, waiting to be played in the future.
