Found you a little over 2 years ago, literally went back and indulged myself on your entire catalog of videos LOL you're incredible and I love your content, please keep up all the hard work! Thanks for being you Austin
PSO is probably the game I’ve spent the most time with to this day, even though I only played offline and never did Seat of the Heart and the other hard stuff. Skies of Arcadia was uniquely cozy. Baten Kaitos was cozy and dark in a weird way. And Eternal Darkness was definitely ahead of its time.
I think the bloody roar anime opening was one of my first exposures to anime that wasn't Pokemon Yu-Gi-Oh or Cardcapters. I remember watching the opening allot
FYI the Cardcaptors 4kids dub is a war crime and an abomination to mankind. The theme song is catchy but that's about it. They completely RUINED the anime by trying to turn a wholesome Yuri slice of life magical girl anime into an action show. I highly recommend you watch the anime again subbed. You'll be absolutely shocked at how much was altered, changed, cut, or censored in the dub.
@@krimsonkatt it wasn't 4kids it was saban, and yeah it's bad but I still have nostalgia for it. I have watched the original series and yes it's allot better but the opening of Cardcapters is sill awesome.
A weird one I grew up on is Whirl Tour. It's a Skating game but uses Scooters and had an odd sense of humor. The plot is a band's members get kidnapped by getting sucked into a time portal and one member has to rescue them by defeating bosses with tricks and traveling through time.
I clicked this video in hopes someone would remember Lost Kingdoms. I adored those games. The one-armed uncle who taught me how to play games introduced them to me. And only recently, I’ve noticed it was a FromSoft game 4 Dark Souls tattoos in. It holds a special place in my heart. I hope we get a port or sequel or SOMETHING
Amazing Island is the first forgotten GameCube game that pops up in my head. It is one of the hardest games I’ve ever played with both my brother and I never making it past level one when growing up
Bayne Kaitos has the best plot twist in gaming. I’m not even being hyperbolic. When it was happening I thought my game cube was glitching. Hard to find a top ten video game plot twists list without Baten Kaitos.
Since Baten Kaitos and Lost Kingdoms showed up in this game and you talked pretty positively about them, i wonder what you'd think of Lost in Random if you've heard of that game. It's got lovely art direction and unique world based around the numbers on the sides of a die, as well as board and card games. And the very combat system itself makes use of cards and real-time combat. It's commendable for the stuff it tries to do.
I mostly remember Hide & Sneak as being the game I was attempting to play when my Gamecube decided to brick roughly 15 years ago. I guess it's good to see that I apparently didn't miss much.
Cubivore was crazy I got to play it for a college project. Also with Baten Kaitos had that wired feature that cards would age in real time like bananas being unripe to ripe to rotten.
I thought the same thing about Mystic Heroes! After I played Dynasty Warriors, I thought "Oh, so this is like the REAL Mystic Heroes". Also, Penny and Piggy Sue were definitely awakenings.
Baten Kaitos and Lost Kingdoms will forever and always be some of my favorite games. It's a shame they probably will never be rereleased, I think both would actually be very well received.
I hate what the speculator market has done to retro gaming. I remember wanting to get into the Metroid series about 15 years ago and easily being able to afford it with my childhood allowance. I got Metroid NES and Super Metroid off of the Wii Virtual console, but I picked up the entire rest as original copies complete with case and instruction manuals, and it probably only cost me around $100 total. Now I’d be lucky to pick up a single notable game for the same amount of money, much less an entire series of them.
Thank god Ubisoft taught us that 4 hours of fun is better than 50 hours of boring mediocre trash. Back then length (read: the game wastes your time) was a huge selling point. And it'd be awesome if it was "you can play it again and again" instead of "it's the same thing but it's long".
I remember seeing ads in gaming magazines for Go Go Hypergrind and wishing so hard I'd get it, but I never did. The game just looked so cool to little 8 year old me who absolutely loved the Tony Hawk games (more specifically the Underground series) and Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure.
Austin seriously knows what he is talking about. Some of the absolute best games for the GameCube and also the most sought after. This is my favorite console of all time.
Battallion Wars is great and really gets better the more it goes on; playing just the first couple levels doesn't show the full craziness of Pikmin as a war combat game.
Gotcha Force is my favorite Gamecube game, full stop. When I saw the title of this video, I was thinking "Gotcha Force HAS to be on this list". You did not disappoint.
Gotcha Force is on PC? Because to my knowledge you can only emulate on a modded Steam Deck since you need to uninstall Linux and install windows basically just turning your Steam Deck into an ordinary PC.
I always thought it was RE4 that set the trend for people wanting really long games (outside of JRPGS) in the early to mid 2000s, but I guess it was apparently ingrained even before. I know when I was younger I was legitimately upset at how """short""" stuff like COD, Resistance, and Gears of War were with their MeAgEr 8 hour campaigns. lol
OMG you talked about two of my favourite more obscure games….I LOVE BAITON KAITOS😊 it’s story had great twists, and the game had a high difficulty if you weren’t prepared for your most OP character to suddenly become the BADDY that your after lol definitely had to go back a few save files to make that work out lol
Was a huge fan of Lost Kingdoms and I even remember borrowing money from a friend in high school to get Lost Kingdoms 2. Wasn't until watching this video I learned it was made by the Dark Souls team. Pretty awesome. Those Banshee's were OP in Lost Kingdoms.
My best friend growing up had Cubivore (he still has his copy, I've been telling him to sell it to somebody), and it is by far the strangest game I've ever played. Highly recommend for the absurdity alone
Both Baten Kaitos games were my favorite hidden gems from the GameCube era, I have this hope for one day the devs would bring them back but i also know it may never happen because of many reasons... this girl will continue to dream. 😅
I feel that PN.03 would have been way better if you didn't stop in place while shooting, if you could slide and jump while shooting then you'd be bang on with the Vanquish vibes.
I was a young kid, like 5 or something and I still remember Baiten Kaitos only cause my older brother was playing what seemed to be a card game with cool characters, he was also into Yu Gi Oh so it was no mere coincidence
I absolutely love Gotcha Force, still hoping for a sequel someday. The collecting of borgs, the gameplay allowing for simple or advanced ways to fight and the feeling of scale while fighting felt great. Assembling your own small army of fighters that play similar but each offering small gimmicks and variations was great. There's even more awesome stuff like 2 players being able to fuse borgs together if you have the correct ones making for a new more powerful one to control during the match. The OST is also really good, gets you hyped up and nowadays quite nostalgic in my case haha.
@@Warrenmitchum Yeah you had certain archetypes that borgs belonged to, but the differences in their special moves still made how you approach playing them somewhat different which I appreciated. For example: Garuda and the Blue Garuda might seem to play similiarly but the blue one is more rushdown/close combat oriented because he doesn't have the strong fireball Garuda has. At least that's my experience with the game haha
Geist really does sound like a cool idea that might’ve been pretty good in better hands. Nintendo is likely more willing to outsource Metroid because apparently it’s not really big Japan and much more popular in the west.
That had a loose disc on Gamestop's site like 3 years ago for under $100. (I know it was loose because I got it. Even though I had a complete one.) They had a huge sell-off of PS2, Gamecube and OG Xbox games. I loaded up on literal hundreds of games. Got Jet Set Radio future, Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX, Wario World, Fatal Frame 2, MGS: The Twin Snakes, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Custom Robo and a bunch more. I'd check their site every once in a while. They'll get stupid rare stuff and sell it for cheap. Though, of the two copies of Afrika (PS3) I got, one was a perfect complete NA copy of the game, and one was a disc-only Japanese version. (They don't sell imports and that version is way less rare and expensive.) They gave me hell when I tried to return it. So, you're rolling the dice. Oh, and they have been randomly getting Vita games in every few weeks.
@@toaster4975 The gamestop old game lottery definitely feels like it's priced to match whatever the lowest sale is on ebay of the last year regardless of condition. It's the highest highs and the lowest lows dealing with them.
Chibi Robo: Plug into Adventure is definitely going to be mega forgotten, and remain in the GameCube forever. Sucks that this game never got ported to other consoles post GameCube.
Roundabout (the funniest game I've seen in the last decade,) is absolutely that Kuru Kuru Kuru thing, except in a taxi, with horrific amounts of violence and absolutely brilliant live action scenes.
Cubivore is probably the rarest/most valuable game I own. I'm not a collector or anything, I just happened to get it when it was out in stores because I thought it looked neat.
I feel like Cel Damage is also an underappreciated Gem that is totally forgotten. You should really try talking about it sometime if you do a followup video. Killer7 too, although that one got a pc remaster in 2018. So it's not entirely forgotten.
Austin: think about cheese When I think about cheese, I think about that old Christmas commercial about Craft Singles. The girl innit puts one of the singles next to the cookies on Christmas eve, then the next morning the entire house is stuffed with presents
Guys... just emulate the game. Dont give some stranger thats not even involved with the gane 500$. The same amount of money goes to the creaters when emulating or buying used
Austin mentions Custom Robo and I’ll suddenly appear! It was my favorite game in elementary and middle school, and is still one of my all-time favorites. Glad to see it get some love here man, more people need to give it a shot for the music alone.
GOTCHA FORCE! GOTCHA FORCE! If you only play one GameCube game your entire life PLAY GOTCHA FORCE!!! OMG! AUSTIN YOU ARE A LEGEND FOR REMEMBERING THIS AND INCLUDING IT IN THIS VIDEO! GOTCHA FORCE!!!
I always loved playing Gotcha Force with a friend of mine who owned it back in the day. I believe he's still kicking himself for losing that copy to this day, one of those kinds of games that you just can't afford to get back.
I recently got back into games after a LONG absence with the purchase of a Nintendo Switch, this channel makes me feel more into it and excited - thanks for the content.

Lost Kingdom was actually the first Gamecube game I ever owned, because it was the best looking Gamecube game in the bargain bin when I bought my Gamecube and didn't have very much money left over to buy games. Also, if you ever revisit this idea, I recommend Darkened Skye, a Zelda clone officially sponsored by Skittles here you use Skittles to cast magic and also for some reason you can buy a version of it that comes bundled with Outlaw Golf. I feel like that alone is worth talking about.
That Gotcha Force games almost felt like a sort of precursor to Danball Senki or LBX over here in the states as the premise/gameplay off both seem very similar. We managed to get one of the games on the 3DS and I consider it a hidden gem. I'm still sad Level 5 dissapeared as we never got the later games that I heard were even better.
I love Baten Kaitos and Lost Kingom. I love them so much I wrote a novel based on the concept of magic with cards (particularly inspired by Lost Kingdom) that did well enough that it launched my now full time novelist career. So uh, thanks Gamecube I guess?
Ah, a Grandia II fan! A fellow man of culture! A felt like the only person in the world who knew about Baten Kaitos back in the mid-aughts. It would be a perfect candidate for an HD update. And it has one of the best twists I’ve seen in any medium. The voice sounds nearly kills it, though. It sounds like the actors recorded through the opposite end of a cardboard tube and it really gets to you after a while.
Many forget the fact that the GameCube was the most powerful console during it's generation, even compared to the Late PS2 & OG 360. The only thing holding it back was the games' format. Damn mini dvd roms...

Found you a little over 2 years ago, literally went back and indulged myself on your entire catalog of videos LOL you're incredible and I love your content, please keep up all the hard work! Thanks for being you Austin
I remember Skies of Arcadia Legends, Baten Kaitos 1 & Yugioh Falsebound Kingdom. All underrated games that I don't think I can ever forget.
Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2 and PSO in the space of 10 seconds?
Austin has beyond top tier taste in RPGs
Grandia 2 on Dreamcast was one of the only times I loved a turn based RPG especially at the age of around 13, amazing game!
Thank you for the Baten Kaitos shout outs. Genuinely one of my favorite series on the GameCube.
Cubivore was one Gamecube game I always remembered existing back in the day, as it was one of the few the US had which PAL didn't
@@FYCY Agreed.
A weird one I grew up on is Whirl Tour. It's a Skating game but uses Scooters and had an odd sense of humor. The plot is a band's members get kidnapped by getting sucked into a time portal and one member has to rescue them by defeating bosses with tricks and traveling through time.
I remember that game extremely fondly! I don't remember how I got it but I definitely remember getting obsessed with it! I really want to get it again
Man, I rented Lost Kingdoms so many times. Really wanna get all the games I used to rent as a kid.
Amazing Island is the first forgotten GameCube game that pops up in my head. It is one of the hardest games I’ve ever played with both my brother and I never making it past level one when growing up
Although people do refuse to mention the random kid on the box art who doesn’t appear anywhere in the game.
@@juliannocartagena2007
Pretty sure he shows up somewhere in the gameboy peripheral connector ingame minigame dungeon crawler, but may be wrong
Go Go Hypergrind was so bizarre when I played it. I remember my dad giving me a weird look when he walked by and I was playing as Piggy Sue lmao
So, Geist is basically Nintendo's take on Messiah. That premise could still be done justice if any developer would pick it up...
It's so freaking strange to see that Go Go Hypergrind is a rare game. I used to play that game all the time on the GameCube as a kid.
You were one of the lucky kids that knew of this hidden gem
so glad you at least mentioned Evolution Worlds! It was one of my favorites on the Gamecube and I feel like no one ever talks about it
Cubivore was crazy I got to play it for a college project.
Boy do I have news for you
I came expecting weird games, instead I came out learning where Matt got 'yabbos' from
I will forever be upset that my parents sold my copy of Cubivore when I went off to college
For how much? Isn't it a pricey game?
Extremely expensive and rare. That’s why I emulate it while looking for a physical copy for my collection.
“With this thing being over 20 years old now…”
Can we fucking not Austin. Lmao
Finally! Somebody acknowledged Baten Kaitos!
"Buy the premium battle pass" is my new phrase for going to Poundtown, thank you so much.
I don’t know why it is that “work ya body” lives rent-free in my head but I’m not mad about it.
I have been begging for more Baten Kaitos content for years. I’d take a port to Switch at this point, though a remaster or sequel would be incredible.
Loving the PSO sound effects in the video. That is a game I played waaaaay too much single-player offline of.
Every time you mention Gotcha Force on the channel it brings a giant smile to my face. You've reminded me to get it on my Steam Deck :)
Gotcha Force is on PC? Because to my knowledge you can only emulate on a modded Steam Deck since you need to uninstall Linux and install windows basically just turning your Steam Deck into an ordinary PC.
Me and my friends played the warioware "listen to the doctor" game one time after eating some mushrooms and honestly I still haven't recovered! XD
Cubix - Robots For Everyone is so forgotten that it doesn't even appear in forgotten videos
I'd kill for a Baten Kaitos port, remaster or sequel on the Switch! My favourite JRPG ever.
I always thought it was RE4 that set the trend for people wanting really long games (outside of JRPGS) in the early to mid 2000s, but I guess it was apparently ingrained even before.
I know when I was younger I was legitimately upset at how """short""" stuff like COD, Resistance, and Gears of War were with their MeAgEr 8 hour campaigns. lol
cubivore is actually one of my personal fav games of all time. just loved it. I've had to buy it 3 times and the price is now getting out of hand.
Lost Kingdoms was a real interesting and kinda fun launch title. It hasn't aged well, but the battle theme is still a bop
Phantasy star episodes 1 & 2 I still play to this day. Amazing games
Austin, that Bloody Roar joke was fire
Haha the way this man pronounces baiten kaitos is WILD
OMG you talked about two of my favourite more obscure games….I LOVE BAITON KAITOS😊 it’s story had great twists, and the game had a high difficulty if you weren’t prepared for your most OP character to suddenly become the BADDY that your after lol definitely had to go back a few save files to make that work out lol
Spoiler!
Kidding. They do a good job setting the twist up. It makes sense.
Love Baten Kaitos, and I'm happy to see it on this list, but even more happy now that a remaster has been announced.
I can’t go back to gotcha force. Especially noticing now that it was a few bots with many variations.
I've never forgotten Cubivore or how I didn't just buy it at MSRP when it released. Now it's too expensive.
There was a Wii version but it only came out in Japan.
@@juliannocartagena2007 I know about it, but since that's Japan only (and the Wii is region locked), I ain't counting it.
Austin: think about cheese
When I think about cheese, I think about that old Christmas commercial about Craft Singles.
“I like it though games alright” a man of culture
Funny that you mention Beach Spikers because it is still the best volleyball game I've played.
GOTCHA FORCE! GOTCHA FORCE! If you only play one GameCube game your entire life PLAY GOTCHA FORCE!!! OMG! AUSTIN YOU ARE A LEGEND FOR REMEMBERING THIS AND INCLUDING IT IN THIS VIDEO! GOTCHA FORCE!!!
I definitely think BoomBots and Micro Maniacs Racing (both Ps1 games) would be the kind of bizarre, but cool games that you would love to cover.
Aka Right up there with Virtual boy library as games Nintendo would never even have a thought of re releasing.
I love how Hero Wars calls itself an ARPG when it is absolutely nothing like any actual ARPG
Custom robo arena was awesome. Man seeing that unlocked memories of my childhood playing that game up waaayy past my bedtime
32:10 "And you know who I blame for all this? You! Yes, you, the public. Especially you, Adrian! (That probably isn't your name, but it was worth it to mess with the heads of all the Adrians in the world)."
-Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw
Lost Kingdom was actually the first Gamecube game I ever owned, because it was the best looking Gamecube game in the bargain bin when I bought my Gamecube and didn't have very much money left over to buy games.
Also, if you ever revisit this idea, I recommend Darkened Skye, a Zelda clone officially sponsored by Skittles here you use Skittles to cast magic and also for some reason you can buy a version of it that comes bundled with Outlaw Golf. I feel like that alone is worth talking about.
I can't explain to you how happy i am that somebody actually mentioned lost kingdoms the second game was a huge favorite of mine growing up
That Gotcha Force games almost felt like a sort of precursor to Danball Senki or LBX over here in the states as the premise/gameplay off both seem very similar.
I clicked because I saw Custom Robo. I still think about that game. Would love a remake/remaster. Half tempted to find a GameCube to play it again.
I literally clicked on this video in hopes of you showing and mentioning the name of a game that I remember playing as a kid but couldn't remember the name of. It was Mystic Heroes. Thank you!
Damn dude, you just unlocked some memories brining up medabots
