New Dr. Squatch customers receive 3 FREE SOAPS when you purchase the Buy3Get3 bundle at drsquatch.com/austin If you ever wanted to try Dr. Squatch, now is the perfect time!
Apologies if some of the audio sounds off *again* in this video. Right after my trip I caught the plague at a bowling alley and it knocked me out for dang near two weeks. HOWEVER, we're back in the saddle now. I'm really excited for what we're doing over the next month and a half and I hope you enjoy watching it!
Also, what's your favorite PSP Game? Legit mine is probably one of the many many extremely solid remakes. BUT, I will play Jeanne d'Arc ANYDAY.

The PSP, for as old as it is, was WAY ahead of it's time. An amazing handheld. Even now, seems better than my modern Switch. Heck, you could use it as an mp3 player and even watch movies on it... back then! Sony has the tech and the money. They should make a PSP 2 to compete with the Steam Deck.

The PSP will forever hold a place in my heart, I grew up poor so I never had much; I went into school and a few kids had it and I was so upset I didn’t, I cried when I got home and my dad asked me what’s wrong, I told him about the PSP and he bought it for me the next month as a surprise, he worked extra shifts that entire month just so he could buy it for me, my father passed away this year ❤

The PSP was my first and for several years only console. I played SO MANY of the games you mentioned and this entire video was a huge nostalgia trip. Invizimals, Kenka Bancho, Half Minute Hero and, of course, Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This?, which still wins for the best game title ever.

Motorstorm: Arctic Edge was pretty rad. It was a full proper Motorstorm game on a handheld, and the snow theme made it feel like a distinct entry and not just a watered down handheld spinoff. Despite being on the weakest hardware, I think it's the second best in the series, behind Pacific Rift.
Also Resistance Retribution is worth mentioning alongside Killzone Liberation. I remember it being one of the more successful attempts at doing a traditional shooter on the PSP.

Anytime the PSP comes up I just think about Loco Roco and The 3rd Birthday. The former being so cute and quirky and amazing. The latter being a much bigger monster. Weird gameplay mechanics and story that makes ZERO sense and a little too much inappropriate fanservice. Still absolutely loved that game. Also been using Dr. Squatch exclusively for about 3 years now :) great stuff!

Two of my big favorites on PSP are Jeanne D'Arc and Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee. (I didn't play Pangya on PSP but on PC when it was known as Albatross 18). Jeanne D'Arc is made by Level-5, who made Dark Cloud and Dragon Quest VIII. It's a fun strategy RPG that is quick to pick up for newbies of the genre as it doesn't go very deep into detail but it's still great fun.

I personally own about 200 psp games, that console was my jam. It came out right as I was going in to high-school, I was finally working and had money, all my gamer friends had one, the psp goes hand in hand for me with my high-school experience. I bought basically every game I could get my hands on for about 5 years straight, I own 90% of all the games you mentioned. I bought dead head fred first week cuz it had Dr. Cox in it, I'll never forget Snake shooting a laser out of the top of his head in Acid 2 when you use the Metal Gear card, Rengoku II was played every day at lunch by my friend group, ad hoc was something special. The amount of hours and psps I've gone through is insane, think I own about 7 or so maybe 3 still working. I always find it strange so many channels barely acknowledge the psp or just have little to say about it so I was very stoked to see this was your new vid, unapologetic psp gamer for life!

If I have ever seen a PSP irl, it was in 2006 or something. Everyone quickly decided the different Nintendo handhelds were better. Sure enough, at the local second-hand store, they sell like 6 PSP games, but 260 Nintendo DS games. (They don't even sell the PSP itself, either, but almost every Nintendo handheld released before the Switch.)

It was a 3D puzzle platformer where you had to rotate the level to get to certain areas, kind of like in Fez. Echochrome and Echoshift were also really nice puzzle games with a very minimalist art style. Psp also had many great racing games, such as Burnout games, Gran Turismo and Motorstorm Arctic Edge.

As far as forgotten PS2 games go, I do feel like RAD Robotic Alchemical Drive is one of them, it was published by Enix before they got absorbed by Square Soft and it's an example of a hidden gem on one of the most biggest consoles ever. Another I can think of is Cold Fear and The Thing game, cause Survival Horror was quite vast on the PS2, including some that fell off the radar and don't get talked about much.

the psp to this day has one of if not my all time favourite handheld console libraries, especially on the japanese side, one such game I’ve been playing is Mobile Suit Gundam Bonds of the battlefield portable, a port of an arcade game of the same name, think of it as a more arcady take on mechwarrior but gundam, I’ve sunk countless hours into it, it’s one of those perfect pick up and play styles of games, and a perfect pick for multiplayer on the go

oh my GODS I am so glad you mentioned Coded Arms (and its sequel), I loved those.
My personal PSP favourite probably has to go to Ace Combat X, a surprisingly well designed portable version of the Ace Combat formula; Medievil Resurrection is also a rather lovely ambitious remake on the original game. Some aren't a fan of the added mascot character of sorts though, but I do enjoy the narration from Tom Baker.

The PSP had some truly weird stuff on it. I used to take major advantage of the GameStop policy to buy a used game and then, no questions asked, exchange it within a certain time period (a week I think) for another used title. I dropped in to check the local stock almost daily for something new to play. The weirdest title I wish I had kept was the Warhammer licensed card game Battle for Atluma. Check out the pre-rendered intro sometime for some choice CGI that screams "this is a thing we paid for." The game was an adaptation of the WarCry CCG and if there is one thing I love it is a digital CCG that lets you play to progress without micro-transactions. As much as I liked that game however, I did eventually trade it in. There is one game though that I still have lurking around in my collection even though I haven't owned a PSP for over a decade at this point. That honor belongs to Dungeons and Dragons Tactics. I had to hold on to that thing because I immediately recognized it as a game time would forget. Man, watching this video is really making me miss my PSP. Thanks for revisiting this amazing handheld!

It's a shame that Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X have been forgotten. Putting them on the PSP feels like a kiss of death for any potential sequels to the remakes.

Ghost of Sparta was 100% my jam
also, yeah, i can kinda see why Inafune thought X1 Zero wouldn't be as interesting since he doesn't get the sword till X2 & he's basically NG+ minus the Hadoken... still mad that the X Legacy Collection didn't had it despite having Day of Sigma

Gotta pitch Armored Core: Formula Front International. I'm playing it on my vita and it's a great handheld game, kinda relaxing too since the AI does all the work during the battles, and it's super fun to come up with new builds for specific situations. Kind of the forgotten Armored Core game!

Interesting to learn that Mega Man Powered Up sold poorly and is now considered obscure, it was my first ever PSP game, as I got its UMD disk together with it, but as I got newer and more "mature" games like GTA Vice City Stories, God of War Chains of Olympus, and Tekken 6 Dark Resurrection, I slowly forgot about the game myself, I just sucked at it and my inner 9-year-old couldn't progress past like the third level or so.
Even more surreal is learning that it had a full-blown level creator community! (I never played its multiplayer simply because I had no idea how), AND that its level creator was shut down only a year ago! 16 years of fan-made levels lost, now this sucks hard, even though I found the game too hard and did not play it as much as I played others, I still quite liked it, and replayed the first levels a lot, does anyone knows if there have been any attempts at archiving its player-made levels, or if they have become lost media?

As a mega man fan there is no way I'm forgetting about mega man powered up and mega man Maverick hunter x especially considering that I did get those years ago and ironically thanks to the collections that we've been getting I'm still slightly disappointed we never got neither of them in their respective collections. Same goes for metal gear though at least peace Walker had a physical release which is now resorting in a lot of people saying that they wanna see peacewalker in volume 2 of the master collection which is inevitable and it will happen. But those are the main 3 examples of portable games I'm not gonna forget on the system. And while the PSP is pretty much gone at least it still has a strong legacy of being my first attempt at modding it, being able to play a whole bunch of games that I was unable to get at the time especially one star ocean game that I'm very glad got a remake that recently came out.

The best version to play Killzone Liberation would be the ps4/ps5 version that they ported. They added the last chapter of the game that wasn't available on released and was downloadable only.

Metal Gear Ac!d broke my brain. I was *not* expecting Final Metal Fantasy Gear Tactics, but this was back in the days when I would go into MGO with only the barrel and just run people over and throw up on them.
    What a weird decade.

initial D Street stage is super impressive honestly. It's a port of the Arcade Stage 3 game, which runs on naomi hardware. Essentially a dreamcast. so they somehow got that game running on a psp and then added more content then the arcade game. It's a really impressive port that plays really well.

Didn't see any of the games I played on here unfortunately, but they were almost all RPGs so I guess that tracks. LOVED Growlanser Wayfarer of Time. Picked up up randomly used and somehow found time to play it. Excellent, even if I messed up my ending. Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Z.H.P are also amazing, thankfully the later did get a rerelease, but VC2 is still suck on the PSP, and so is VC3 but only in Japanese so it's a double whammy.
