None Star Wars fans never get it but I can´t help responding with that when people say "hello there" but this was the first time someone actually got it.
This is possible, as we seen in the Anakin vs Obi Wan fight, there are scenes (when fighting on the table) that they've swapped lightsabers, so it was intended that there be a switch in that fight too. Though there might be an alternative explanation as to why Palpatine has Anakin's hilt, and I think it is to do with the CGI going on in the Mace vs Palpatine fight. It seems like there are points in that fight where Palpatine is pure CGI, and when you then think of another CGI character in a lightsaber duel in this film Grievous they have something in common. They both have Anakin's lightsaber hilt, in fact Grievous has both Anakin's and Obi Wan's Lightsaber hilts, and I wonder if it is because they only had a small collection of CGI lightsaber models, and had to keep repeating the same models over and over to save cost.
I’ve pointed the whole grevious thing out myself and tbh I think with grevious it was just whatever lightsabers they had to hand that they scanned in but I think in the case of Anakin and Obi it was just a genuine mistake that they forgot to rectify like Ewan just happened to be holding Hayden’s lightsaber from a previous take and that was the best take for that moment or something yet another take with Ewan’s lightsaber was better right after and they just cut it that way? I dunno I’m just speaking crap at this point
@@DarthSherm94 Another interesting thing to note about Grievous, the other two Lightsabers he has are the borrowed hilts Anakin and Obi Wan had on Geonosis in Episode 2.
hurmet I’ve noticed that myself previously as well I just didn’t see the point of mentioning those ones 😂 people only wanna know about the legit ones not the borrowed ones 😁
The problem is the shots we see palpatine with anakin's lightsaber is not CGi, it's actually shot footage with a camera. I also think that not being able to have a CG model of Palpatines lightsaber is unlikely considering the scope and budget of the VFX department, adding in palpatines actual lightsaber to a fight rather than some other random model would be no trouble at all.
There is another deleted scene in this behind the scenes featurette, and it takes place right after Anakin sees Obi-Wan off to Utapau. Anakin goes to see Palpatine, who believes Obi-Wan might not be able to defeat Grievous because he’s “seeing a female Senator.” This flares up Anakin’s jealousy, and it makes sense why Anakin goes from appreciating his mentor/friend to becoming suspicious of him when Padme says Obi-Wan visited her. Then it makes even more sense why Anakin says to Obi-Wan “YOU TURNED HER AGAINST ME!!” on Mustafar.
Ian Mcdiarmid did such an amazing job. Even in the Sequels where his character shouldn't have been there and had no explanation for any of the things he did, Ian knocked it out of the park.
I’m so sick of everyone hating Palpatine coming back, there was a small comic series that focused on Palpatine coming back as a clone, where he was so powerful with the dark side he could literally move his soul from the underworld into a clone body, Luke discovers he’s back and tries to defeat him and fails, he becomes Palpatine’s apprentice so he can master the Dark Side and learn enough to eventually destroy him. I mean the idea alone is badass, Luke becoming his apprentice and becoming a master of both Light and Dark to destroy Palpatine forever... Stop saying Disney has no idea, just look at the source material for his return and it’s easily explained there
I think the most important reason why this scene was changed was because it makes the Emperor look like much more of a victim. In the cut we got, Anakin walks in to see Mace threatening Palpatine with his lightsaber, giving the impression that the Emperor is defenseless. It makes Anakin have more sympathy for Palpatine and easier to be swayed rather than if he just walked in and saw an intense battle.
I love that scene in the ROTS novel when mace fights palps. It's a great way to illustrate Anakin choosing his path, and how surprising it was that mace was able to keep up with palp. Then when Anakin had that "you just choose moment" the "weakness" of the Jedi was shown as mace actually waited to let him choose while papa palp was like "k force lightening time"
I love that you cover so much of the prequels! Love to see more content on palpatine because he is such a wonderful feeling. I really enjoy your deleted scene series with the prequels. I wish that George Lucas could release an extended edition of Star Wars like Lord of the rings did.
In Dragon Ball Z as Yamcha was fighting a Siebermen, Piccolo was explaining to Gohan about the speed that Yamcha and the Sierbermen were fighting at. Piccolo says your not looking for them but the light thier bodies give off. Just like what you were saying about the speed at which Sidious and Windu was fighting. When Anakin was watching it was a blur of colors coming from thier clothes.
Proof that at a time, the humans were stronger than a Saiyan. And we must remember, Yamcha was killing that fight until he apparently defeated it... and then it pulled that sneak attack. Yamcha would've won that fight, though. It's just he turned away at a bad time, so it became a tie. Both lost. It kinda makes sense that power levels - or rather Midichlorian levels - would exist in Star Wars like they do in Dragon Ball. As explained, it would've been awesome to see how fast Mace and Palpatine were fighting according to the book. The way their lightsabers were just streaks of power, all of it. And Anakin being unable to read them due to how he had yet to tap into his full potential, unlike Mace and Palpatine.
In the novelization, I seem to recall that Palpatine had hidden his lightsaber inside of a statue made of some really dense material. Neurodium(?) During the fight, Windu had disarmed Palpatine of his lightsaber, and THAT is when he asked Anakin for help. BTW, I feel Anakin went over the cliff, past the point of no return, when he disobeyed Master Windu and left the Jedi Council chambers.

Wow, I've watched this special feature on the ROTS dvd since it came out and never noticed that. Great catch. It also explains why Palpatine is wielding Anakin's lightsaber hilt with a red blade in a few shots. They had filmed the "Anakin Tosses His Lightsaber" version of the fight before they decided to go with what we see in the film.
I like the version that we got Except, I would have preferred to, at least, see Anakin's reaction to the bodies of dead jsedi on the floor of Palpatine's office. I think that would have given more tension and weight to the decision that Anakin had to make.
I have watched that "Becoming Sidious" behind the scenes video literally hundreds of times, and never once have i noticed Anakin in the background! Great video Theory!
Hey theory. Something I just saw in the scene is when palps is electrocuting mace, anakin has his saber in hand all of a sudden when it wasn't just there. Never see him draw it from hilt. And then when he slices maces hand off it appears he draws it again from his hilt. Good evidence of reshoots and editing and adds weight to it actually being shot differently
I really like the part of Anakin watching the master level fight at super speed, but I wouldn't have him throw his lightsaber to palpatine, first because I also like that "you have to choose" moment, it shows how Anakin hadn't decided yet which destiny he was about to manifest according to the force, meaning he still had the chance to be conscious of whatever he did, would change everything, it wasn't too late to choose a different path. Also, logically speaking, if Anakin only was able to percieve a blur of red and purple, I doubt he would be able to throw his lightsaber to palpatine, it may be in the book, but it feels unrealistic, if he cant percieve, even less do something about it. I really liked this curious data you shared with us, nice work!
This is epic. 😊 Some parts had me cracking up. 🤣 Samuel Jackson "Sometimes he would not be looking, and I whacked him." 👏🏼🤣😂 Palps looks at samuel: Do it!
Great topic. There's pictures online too of Anakin standing next to Palpatine in the chair when the Jedi come to arrest him. In fact, Hasbro's first wave of ROTS 3.75 figures had a palpatine with a blue Anakin lightsaber. I happened to get one of those before they updated it with a red lightsaber.
I 100% agree with what you said. If he has thrown him his lightsaber, I feel as if it would have shown there was no doubt to Anakin, it was always going to be Palps. But when they are there on the window, you can see his stress over what to do. Great video!
Quinton Wideman I recommend reading the Revenge of the Sith book cause it goes into detail about how he killed the separatists. Also I think theory has a vid explaining! 😁👍
I think I've watched episode III more than any of the movies. One thing I always wished is he became Vader in the beginning of the movie and we got to see more of order 66 being played out with Vader in the actual suit
I still remember when I first saw episode 3 in the theater I was 13 in 2005 and already a huge Star Wars fan for about 10 years. And I as a 13 year old boy cried from the moment Anakin turns and starts crying after taking off Mace Windu's hand because I could understand why he turned to the dark side, I could feel his struggle to resist this path, I saw myself in his shoes and tears ran down my checks until the credits especially when he had his falling out with Padme and Obi-Wan I was transfixed and the experience sticks with me to this day and occasionally when I watch it again I'll get a little teary eyed but more than anything else I'm transported back to that theater and I relive that experience that had such an impact on me... I am still a huge Star Wars fan, things like this excite me! ... The Disney Sequel Trilogy sucks it doesn't make me feel anything but disgust! ... Oh what more wonderful experiences I might have had but I'll always love the first 6 and assorted spinoffs if I deem them good too...
Can you imagine Ian being your granddad at Christmas? You wake up excited, fevered even when thinking about all the amazing gifts you're about to get, and then it comes time to get your presents from Grandpa... "Youuu waaant thisss, dont you? The Yule is swwWELling in you now..."
So, scene where Palpatine reveals himself was changed on reshoots, you can even see that from another documentary. Originaly, he reveals himself and Anakin join him right there (also there is a photo of Palpatine and Anakin right from him awaiting for Mace and jedi). Lucas decided to slower down Anakin transition and also added scene where Anakin tells Mace about Sidious and next scene whith Ani/Padme (again, you can see that from documentary about reshoots). When Mace supposed to come with jedi to Palpatine, he asks Anakin to help them, but Anakin just standing. Palpatine uses the force to take Ani lightsaber and fight begins. Also, Anakins decision was reshoot again, to make accent on saving Padme. Theres a lot more things, but this is main change. Another thing, is that Hayden stop training right after they shoot his shirtless scene, and on new scenes after months he looks little bit skinny. Sometimes its even changed in one scene, like Anakin and Obi farewell, where they faces and hairs changes from shot to shot.
Cool that Anakin was in the background and the throwing his light saber but I really liked that they changed it as you said the tension was so much higher in the end of the scene and is one of the best scenes in the movie imo I love the sith lightning which immediately explains to us how palpatine got the deformed face and it is so badass and of course the conflict in Anakin "you must choose" and he literally had to cut off windu´s hand in order to have a chance to save Padme´s life in his mind and he had to do it because he was completely out of time so he had to cut of Windu´s hand. And the reason I say cut of his hand where I usually would wonder why didn´t he just block his light saber, this video explains it if Windu could move so fast he was just a blur of light from his light Saber Anakin wouldn´t stand a chance despite I previously thought he might have had a 50/50 chance due to his high midoclorian count. Also I´m so glad they remade the scene with Anakin coming in later because it was so badass seing Windu´s hand getting cut off and being hit by UNLIMITED POWER from force lightning.
Say what you will about the prequels but you have to admit the character of palpatine was nailed by George and Ian

Superb!. This is probably your best work.

This is Outrageous!
Its unjust!
JoniukasVader It's unfair!
@@ladyoftheharbor how can you be on the council, and not be a master?!
@Obi-Wan Kenobi that's not your line, your line is "shakes head disappointedly"
I had a ton of fun watching the bonus material with you so far. Looking forward to the Ep.3 stuff.
Damn that out the windu
El Dinero Penz ha so funny 🤨
Ibra Sir did I ask?
I 100% agree with what you said. If he has thrown him his lightsaber, I feel as if it would have shown there was no doubt to Anakin, it was always going to be Palps. But when they are there on the window, you can see his stress over what to do. Great video!
Ian did a good job being sidious. He really is the Senate!!
Glad Star wars can bring people together. Happy holidays everyone.
I was right! The Jedi are taking over!!
big fan
The oppression of the Sith will never return! You... have _lost._
My favorite actor in the entire series.
Was I glad he came back for IX?
Absolutely.
I've been wanting to see the cut scenes from Mustafar - like Anakin killing Wat Tambor (only photos exist).
What did it look like happened to Tambor? I was always curious as to what Vader did to him.
Quinton Wideman I recommend reading the Revenge of the Sith book cause it goes into detail about how he killed the separatists. Also I think theory has a vid explaining! 😁👍
@@momoheichou oh ok, I definitely need to look into that than, thanks for the info!
Finally, behind the scenes, Im looking forward to see these kind of video on episodes IV, V and VI
I think I've watched episode III more than any of the movies.
One thing I always wished is he became Vader in the beginning of the movie and we got to see more of order 66 being played out with Vader in the actual suit
Or have it split into 2 movies
Palpatine: *Fakes American accent*
Ewan McGregor: *Fakes Tone of voice* (he has British accent, but it sounds different)
Anakin: *AAAHAHHAHHHHH*
Can you imagine Ian being your granddad at Christmas? You wake up excited, fevered even when thinking about all the amazing gifts you're about to get, and then it comes time to get your presents from Grandpa... "Youuu waaant thisss, dont you? The Yule is swwWELling in you now..."
the bonus discs are legendary!!!!
The backround music in your vids is amazing!
5:57 the scene
Thanks you.
This series has been great. Thanks
Rip that scene looks sick as
as..? (hangs on the edge of seat) Don't keep me in suspense 😮
This entire sequence paired with when Palps revealed himself to Anakin is my favorite part of any movie. Iv youtubed it a million times.
@Star Wars Theory Video Idea - What Happened To Bossk After ROTJ

"Anakin, lend me your weapon so I may defend myself"
"...This whole operation was your idea!"
This makes it even more sad that ruined this character completely with RotS!
You mean TROS?
Anakin walking in looks badass as hell, I wish that stayed in the film. Could have been an oh shot moment if he just walks in from the background.
Gage Brumley yh him just observing the fight ready to jump in
Ah very intresting i wonder what young skywalker thought at that time *cough cough
* I give you a new double bladed lightsaber for your collection*

This is so good. I wish we got alternate versions of ROTS just to get a deeper dive into George’s mind. Thank you theory, your channel is awesome.
Star wars theory, do you have any lego star wars
If not he should buy some and make it on stream
he should buy a 501st battle pack
He does have quite a bit of Star wars Lego I believe
@@supremegod9709 must've missed it
Revenge of the sith is the best star wars movie! So incredible the more behind the scenes we get to see. Love love love it!
That’s not Anakin that’s clearly Kit Fisto
That would have been epic if kit fisto got up and fought some more and lived
That would have been epic if kit fisto got up and fought some more and lived
Last time I was this early SWT was still shilling for the sequel trilogy.
Uff
