imo even though she is a pop artist now, everything about her song writing (chord choice, the story songs) is very "I learned how to do this in Nashville". She left country music but she's still writing country music, if that makes sense
I love this take. You can really track her musical growth through her chord choices. Back in her country days, she leaned hard on the country/rock version of the vi IV I V progression (which I personally love). As she evolved into mainstream pop, she shifted to the classic I V vi IV Axis progression, which is still her harmonic mainstay. But then you see where she fell in love with what I call the "Taylor progression", the I V ii IV of Wildest Dreams and Daylight, which I really think is her defining sound. That dreamy, wistful, heartbroken-but-hopeful feeling of striving for something just within sight but just out of reach. By grounding her music in a familiar and accessible harmonic space, she gains our permission to explore a constant evolution of new styles and attitudes on top of her intensely emotive lyricism. That's Taylor's magic.
This performance is so wild to me because the album came out only a couple weeks before and the crowd knows every single breath and pause as they sing along to every song. Thank you for highlighting this!
I love the collective scream in the audience when they figure out what song it’s going to be bc she’s never performed it live so they didn’t know from the chords!
Also if you’re more interested on the process of writing and producing there’s a series called “making of a song” off the songs on Reputation. I think you’d enjoy seeing those, and it would be cool for us to hear your input on it
I’m so embarrassed to say that I really just discovered this song. Like so many other songs from artists, we overlook them for a whole number of reasons. But this is my current favorite song and version of it. Btw, nice outro ;)
Wow the oldest comments on this video are so mean. "It's fun to dislike videos just for the heck of it" -- I'm glad youtube hides how many dislikes videos have now.
She wrote this one all by herself 🥺 It’s one of my faves from the Lover album
Definitely the Father in my Holy Trinity
She writes all of her own music

she wrote this while she was on a bathtub 😩💗
Interesting fact lol

Her vocals are just too good!!💕
totally
Taylor doesn’t need any recording studio or band. Just give the girl an acoustic guitar and she will make pure magic.
One of my favourite songs from lover and definitely one of my favorite acoustic performances from her. Loved this, thank you!!
Please react to Taylor Swift Death by a thousand cuts npr tiny desk concert

the more i look at you. the more i realised that you are handsome.
The video was out of sync from the audio because of you pausing and playing.
I think he edited it that way to avoid it being blocked
I think it was just a mistake in the editing room on his end. @@lauriep2018
