I always viewed Phil as what Michael Scott would be if he had actually settled down in his late 20s and started a family. He has a lot of Michael Scott energy.
Trivia tidbit: early episodes of Season 1 has Claire covering her belly with counters, laundry baskets, furniture, etc because the actress had recently given birth.
also, the lily joke was because asians sometimes have trouble pronouncing the L sound. but this wouldnt apply to this situation because the child will be raised with english as a first language. so the joke was that just because the baby is asian, she wont be able to pronounce L's.

i tried to watch MANY Shows, but i dare to say they r overrated.many shows have reviews around 90 percent, which is crazily overrated.the only shows i finished watching is this modern family, american office, friends, how i met your mother and british dead set ( the best zombie thing after remake of dawn of the dead )
