I just want to give a TON of respect to Thomas Dolby for his brilliant keytar solo. His solo was so intense, psychedelic and just sick! Only took him about 30 seconds to steal the show and he he did it while looking like a total nerd. A true revenge of the nerds moment!
thomas dolby, in an outlandish headmaster costume, on a keytar, with cyndi lauper dancing around him like a lunatic, in dreads, to pink floyd's music. it doesn't get any better than that. or any weirder.
@@playtimetv5229 Peter John Wood (9 April 1950 - 1993) was an English musician, a Keyboardist born in Middlesex, England. In his early years he lived with his parents in Hythe Field Avenue, Egham, Surrey. He was a member of Quiver, latterly "Sutherland Brothers & Quiver", and Natural Gas, before he began to work closely with Al Stewart, Roger Waters, as well as Cyndi Lauper, Jonathan Kelly, Tommy Shaw and Bob Dylan. Wood is the co-writer of the 1976 Al Stewart single "Year of the Cat". He was one of the original members of the "surrogate band", who featured in Pink Floyd's The Wall live shows in 1980 and 1981, and can be heard on the live album Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81. He played keyboards on Joan Armatrading's breakthrough album Joan Armatrading in 1976. Wood died in December 1993 at the age of 43. There have been conflicting reports on the cause of his death, ranging from suicide to slipping on his kitchen floor and cracking his head open.
2 things: 1) my memory must be shot to sh!t because I vividly "remember" Thomas Dolby playing this while being hung from a crane (lifted out from behind the wall) 2) Cyndi Lauper...hmm.
No, Thomas Dolby came down with a crane, dressed as the teacher, swinging with his arms. But that was in "Another brick in the wall part 2". So your memory is not a problem :-) but it is 30 years ago. I still have my pink paper mask.
I’ll always remember him most for this musical “battle” with Cyndi and Al Stewart’s “Year Of The Cat”. If Peter hadn’t played that intro night after night while on tour with Al in 74-75, Al may have never wrote that amazing song.
He was there to play the Teacher in the finale (in case the custom doesn't give it away) but it was good of Waters to let him have a few moments to actually play some music even if it was as good as over when he came on.

Dolby was cool as AF here. God Bless Roger and this amazing spectacle he put on.
I especially love this performance featuring Cyndi with special appearance of Thomas Dolby. They both rocked.
The bleeding heart band has been always a big influence to me. Thanks Mr. Broad.

Thomas Dolby is Amazing
One of the highlights of the concert, for sure.
wow what a show Rogers put together, a masterpiece
Wow. Why would you cut the first guitar solo? I always felt DiFonzo's solo was better than Snowy's in this performance, imho. Cheers!
