The song, 'God Only Knows", is one of the best ever written by anyone, anywhere. The bare, humble truth came right out of Brian Wilson's heart with this song. So beautiful. It always gives me chills. Thank you, Brian!
Dano nails the young, impulsive Wilson, Cusack hits the mark as the scared, shattered Wilson. I had concerns about both but walked away knowing these guys did their homework.
My dad absolutely loved the Beach Boys. Saw them numerous times. I thought this would be the perfect movie to see with him when he was battling lung cancer in the spring of 2015, to get his mind off the pain. But his response when I shared the trailer with him was, "Looks sad." Sadly we never did see it together, and we lost him on July 10th, 2015. I still have never watched this, but just added it to my Watchlist playlist, because whenever I think of the Beach Boys, I think of Dad. "God only knows what I'd be without you", Dad. Thanks for 29 great years. See you on the other side

this movie was so incredibly amazing and heartbreaking. brian wilson is an absolute genius who was so mistreated and underestimated. i HIGHLY suggest watching this even if you don't know a thing about the beach boys
I've just seen this movie hours ago and I'm still blown away. Seriously, this movie is a masterpiece of narrative, acting and emotion. The whole cast is terrific, but Paul Dano gives one the best performances I've seen in the whole year. For real, he was snubbed by the Oscars for There will be blood but snubbing him away would be unforgivable. He gives such a real, complex and brutally honest performance of someone alienated and haunted by his own disease but also someone naive and innocent who's manipulated. It's a character you can feel real, you feel sorry for him but also you can relate to his pain and most of all you feel so powerless. You want to save him all the time and at the same time you can see he's a genius. It's truly a depth and unique performance that cannot be missed. Same with Elizabeth Banks, always underrated, who makes something amazing with an "easy" role. She's not only the love interest, she gives her character a charisma and an strenght trought the whole movie wich also deserves a nomination. She really captures that feeling of trying desperatly to save someone you love, the frustation of being unable to do anything. The acting, the editing, the soundtrack...one of the best movies I've seen recently.
Paul Dano was incredible in the role. And John Cusack was great too. I also totally could've seen a younger Bill Murray crushing it as the older Brian Wilson.
I saw this in June 2015 and sat electrified in the theater...best movie of 2015. Dano literally BECOMES Brian Wilson on the screen and nails his personality in an oscar-worthy performance. Cusack is also quite good as older Brian but Paul Dano steals the show with a masterful performance. Banks, Giamatti, and Jake Abel as Mike Love were also very effective. This movie captures two periods of Brian's life with much depth and feeling and great attention to detail in the 1960's segments. Watching Brian work his musical genius in the studio while making Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations is a treat to watch. You don't have to be a Beach Boys fan to love this movie. It is a great human drama and a must-see for everyone.
I had to drive a state away to see this movie a couple weeks ago, and it was SO WORTH IT. It was an amazing film and I thought it to be very true to Brian's story. They got it very spot-on with Mike Love being horrible as well. Great movie! Can't wait to buy it on DVD.
Great movie. Damn, the more I hear about Pet Sounds the more you realize what a myth it is, like something too beautiful for this world. Wilson is a creative genius in the purest form.
Honestly I think this is the best biopic I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot, especially of rock stars. I was initially skeptical because of the Dano/Cusack split but the director explained it in a way that seemed brilliant --- basically the "Paul Dano Brian" disappeared when he "went to bed" (had his mental breakdown and became a recluse for years), and the person who eventually emerged from the heartbreak and wreckage was a different person, symbolized by the switch to Cusack as older Brian. We all know that Dano, already a phenomenal actor at such a young age, hits a home run here, nailing every aspect of the young Brian, his walk, his slouch (he was self-conscious as he stood 6'3"), the patterns of his speech. But I have to say that Cusack does some of the very best acting of his career in this film. I had forgotten honestly that he can act with such subtlety and conviction. He gets at the "soul" of the later Brian, a man who has experienced tremendous loss, in a more quiet way than Dano, and it is also brilliant and devastating. Banks is also excellent -- she conveys a tremendous amount of strength and integrity as an ordinary woman caught up in an extraordinary story.
Just back from watching this film, it devastated me, the film making was great the acting was great and it told Brian's story very well. I found it very emotional, exceeded my expectations.
This movie could've been a disaster with all the flash backs, & streaming consciousness, but it ran flawless like his complicated compositions. The core of Cusack, Dano, Giamatti & Banks were superb & the budding romantic innocence scenes between Cusack & Banks along with Wilson's budding visions of a songs along the way & in the studio really balanced the trauma that seemed so overwhelming. Add the fact that his songs we're soundtracks for the lives of many of us who saw it & wow ! I loved this movie.
Eirik W I was very pleantly surprised by all the actors, especially Evan Able as Mike. But I felt the movie was rushed near the end. One minute, the housekeeper is showing Melinda Brian's revised will (which left everything to Landy), and the next thing you know, the show's over and we get to read the basic concluding facts during the credit scenes.
I just watched it today, Cusack was not the best choice for an older Brian for sure, the rest of the cast did an excellent job. It seemed a bit rushed at the end, but oh well at least his trouble period under Landy was well reflected. At the end the credits show Wilson playing live too.
I'm just realizing now how great of an actor Paul Giamatti is. I LOVED him in "Saving Mr. Banks" and yet from the clips I've seen in this movie I despise him lol. Usually the mark of a great actor, when you can love or hate them just based on their roles. Can't wait to see this when its on Netflix tomorrow.
There are a lot of documentaries out there about the Beach Boys.. but this one about Brian so far is the best one I've seen. I just watched yesterday, called "Beautiful Dreamer|Brian Wilson and the Story of SMiLE" is on youtube, full doc. If you haven't seen it go and watch it right now. This (Love & Mercy) is gonna be another great look inside The Great Brian Wilson. Can't wait to see it.
For me, watching this movie means the same excitement as if someone how loves soccer watched a movie about Maradona o Pele or about Michael Jordan for basketball lovers. Is a movie about one of my heroes.
+Cynthia Terry I have seen this two times as well. When my sister and I watched the movie the first time we really didn't know much about the Beach Boys. BUT..after watching it we got more into the Beach Boys and even bought Pet Sounds on vinyl and cd. Also, we began to learn more about the Beach Boys and the Wilson brothers...so we watched Love and Mercy a second time to just observe and see how the amazing Pet Sounds album was created, and what was going on during that process.
a thousand years ago there was a group of guys/kids who used to hang at Tastee Tower Pizza in Dennisport and they used to stand stand outside and harmonize the Beach Boys songs. That was the first time I heard Heroes and Villains. They told me about Surf's UP and proclaimed it the greatest music ever. The Boys have been in my blood ever since.
I was a big fan of the Beach Boys back in the day (still am). I never knew Brian was treated so badly because I never got into their personal lives. I seen this movie and my heart was breaking for him. 😥
Loved John Cusack's portrayal of Brian. Very gentle and believable. Elizabeth Banks' empathetic performance was equally moving. Paul Dano's "Pet Sounds" sessions were fascinating and Paul Giamatti as Dr. Landy was downright scary. Really enjoyed the depth this movie offered and have subsequently watched numerous interviews and concerts. Such a lovely soul. Glad he's with Melinda.
I just saw it. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I highly recommend it. The use of two actors turned out to be a great idea, as each character portrays a different side of Brian. It was a phenomenal film.
I saw this movie for the first time on Christmas having some downtime and thought it was fantastic. Never was a Beachboys fan. I love biopics and after watching I started to listen to their music and appreciate the songs knowing what the suffering for their art cost them. I am a fan now.
John Cusack is playing a part of Brians life that most people have never really seen. If you've heard any Brian interviews from that time period . . . . .while watching the movie, listen and watch John Cusack. He does do a surprising good job.
I went to a sneak preview and was blown away. I knew the basic story but the film really strikes home. The music and performances capture the essence of Brian, a true genius. I am lucky to have seen him perform a couple of times since he has started touring again. Go see this film!
My favorite rock biopic. Dano and Cusack did wonderful jobs. And the real Brian Wilson was on set during the filming. I especially liked how the picture was made like a docudrama and not like a musical like Rocketman.
Great biopic. Paul Dano was perfect. Cusack I thought didn't look much like Wilson (especially the eyes) but his performance was really good overall. Accurate and earnest portrayal of the making of one of my favorite albums and musicians.
I actually disagree. Now that I think about it, Cusack looks more like Wilson than Dano. Check this pic cdn.chud.com/8/8d/8dfaefaa_Wilson.jpeg. Only problem is they didn't give Cusack light eyes. I think that would have done it. That being said Dano did fantastic.
I saw this today and it was great. The movie changes moods between musical drama, thriller and romance film but it's a very satisfying film. I highly recommend it.
Hands down, one of the best movies I've ever seen. Really defies all the other biopics out there. I really hope it's nominated for some Academy Awards.
Can't wait! They are a national treasure! Their music has given me so much happiness! I would like to see their music and story turned into a Broadway Show.
I’m so glad I saw this movie, because it explains so much! I hadn’t realized the depths of Brian’s genius, nor the strange paths his life took. In a final cruel twist, his beloved wife died last year. He has been through so much! I’d love to see a sequel about their lives and their adopted children, as well as Brian’s relationship with music in his later years.
Mateus Murozaki I think the younger portions of Brian's life are probably gonna be way more interesting but Cusack will probably play the character better.
TopDog69 I think that has to do more with him not liking someone portraying him with his mental illness and how he coped with it in later years. Don't know though.just speculating
I don't get the casting of John Cusack. Paul Dano should have played B. Wilson young and older. Cusack is a good actor but not all actors are suited for every part. While it's very easy to believe Dano's portrayal as Brian Wilson, I could not for a second get past the fact that I was seeing John Cusack, NOT Brian Wilson.
i haven't seen the movie yet, but i'm disappointed about the use of two actors to portray Brian. i'd like to know the reasoning behind that decision...strange.
oldiesgeek1 I think of all the biopics I've seen, like "Great Balls of Fire", "The Buddy Holly Story", "Ray", and even "I'm not There", about the Bob Dylan. The list goes on, but one common thread in all of them is that the actors at least looked, acted and sounded like the singers they were portraying. People will say that it's all about the acting, not whether they look like the singer/musician. Jack Nicholson is a great actor, but would someone cast him as Elvis Presley or Fats Domino?
Bela Tarr The reason I mentioned "I'm not there", is because even though many actors - including a female - were playing the part of B.D., but at least they all tried to look like, act and sound like Dylan. Cusack is being Cusack, but it's just distracting so see Cusack portraying Brian Wilson. Having said all that, I will still see the movie since I am a Beach Boys fan. And if Brian himself loves it, it must be great, even with Cusack as the older Brian.
I just saw this brilliant film last night, I would highly recommend it to anyone, even if you aren't a Beach Boys fan. It has everything we should hope for in our entertainments.
My wife hated this movie... I absolutely loved it. I appreciate music and am a huge fan of the subtle works that goes into making a beautiful song. This movie gave a first hand look into the amazing mind of Brian and what it took to grace us with such great music.
@@4danieltorresjr She didn't... She's not a big music fan, nor a beach boys fan. But I just don't think she cared enough to absorb the reality of it enough to appreciate it.
I know right! Dano and Cusack don't really look alike but when watching the film they perfectly portray the older and younger versions of Brian and you can almost believe that they're the same person 20 or so years apart
Love and Mercy... The life of the Wilson brothers would like different if their parents have given them love and mercy! Instead, they beat her father regularly with the belt (a Bash hand destroyed at Brian hearing on one side!) and her mother fled to the alcohol to endure her husband, rather than to protect their sons. The education with their educational attitude pursues the life and vibrancy of the growing and has since x-generations uncounted people destroyed or difficult their lives. Mankind therefore finally needs a new attitude towards those people who are newly born and grew up as child! Instead education relationship! Love and protection for the child, so respect and respect for his own life, respect for the feelings, the sensations, the perceptions, the thoughts and the words of the child, so full confidence in the child and its potential,
I don't get the obsession with Cusack looking or not looking like Wilson, especially when he nails the character and his emotions so well. We know these people are all actors, right? Paul Dano looks a lot more like Wilson than Cusack, but he still looks exactly like Paul Dano, the guy from "There Will Be Blood." Besides, I just saw an article that places a photo of Wilson from this period next to one of Cusack in the movie, and it's not that far off. Pretty terrific movie, by the way.
Reminds me of the criticism directed at the actors playing John, Paul and George in Nowhere Boy. None of them looked like the people they were playing but for the most part they nailed the mannerisms and perhaps most importantly the essence of the characters they were playing. Especially the one playing Lennon.
Love love love love this movie so damn much!!!!!! I’m 37, born in 85, listen to every and all styles of music. But I hold two truths to be self evident.. 1. Paul McCartney and John Lennon are the greatest songwriters of all time. 2. Brian Wilson is GOD
Fantastically delivered last line of the movie by Elizabeth "and then what? The look on her face and the little tilt of her head❤❤when they go to the wide profile shot
The performances in this movie by Cusack and Dano weren't about "looking like" Brian Wilson. The performances are about convincingly telling Wilson's story, and I must say that I had always loved Beach Boys music, but I had no idea of how tortured Wilson's life (and, his brothers') had been with a cruel and abusive upbringing. How any of these wonderful voices found a reason to sing is beyond me, much less create. Wilson's artistic range is beyond my understanding and both Cusack and Dano deserve recognition for their impressive performances, rather than criticism for failing to "look like" the man that they each portrayed.
"What about you, Melinda? Why don't you have a... boyfriend?" "He broke my heart...." "....He shouldn't have done that. Tell me - have you tried making some mixtapes?"
this movie is one of the best movies about musicans. Unlike the other movies of Johnny Cash, James Brown, Jim Morrison, Ray Charles and so on (which are no doubt also great) this movie shows a better understanding of the musican himself and his feelings and creating process with his music.
There are songs that Brian wrote that defined the way music was written for the next 30 years. I mean it all started with him, so much of it did. Brilliant mind for music, and such highly sensitive and artistic people do bruise easily. I guess in the end he, himself, and love saved him. I wonder if these actors and script will be able to capture it?
I have seen a lot of comments regarding the dual casting of Paul Dano and John Cusack. A few things. Prettty evident that Paul Dano looks a like Brian in the 1960's. And John Cusack does resemble Brian a bit from the 1980's. Remember, the current day Brian, at age 72 is not being portrayed in the movie. The director, Bill Polhad is showing that the Brian Wilson of the 1980's and early 1990's having survived the torture of "Dr." Gene Landy, came out a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT person than the Brian Wilson of the 1960's. Using a different actor, who can capture the tics and off beat mannerisms of Brian Wilson is paramount to acheive that effect. Go with it.
I cannot WAIT to see this movie...!!!! I saw the Beach Boys, live, the first time, when I was a young teen in Washington, DC, back in the "day"! Then, I saw them again, at Chastain Amphitheater, here in Atlanta, about 14 yrs. ago. I cherish those memories, & am looking forward to seeing this amazing movie!
I loved this movie. Emotional, powerful, mesmerizing, brilliant. And then there's the music...ahhh, that gorgeous, Beach Boy sound. An incredible, apparently true story. Well-named.
We have waited so very long for this. A lifetime really. Over the years that we waited, Brian Wilson's soul was made something like a meal for two man-eating monsters. First his late father Murry. Then the mad witch doctor Eugene Landy. John Cusak has never been so riveting as Damaged Brian in the 80s. Paul Dano gently slaps us into a memory of the little-boyness of Brian in the moments when we had our first Beach Boy listens. And later on the rescue--by the one who may have been Brian's Jesus. Or Mary perhaps. A seller of cars named Melinda Ledbetter. Conjured in the dazzling way of Elizabeth Banks. The story unfolds in a way that made this viewer wonder how so much sadness might have been saved if we could only have born witness sooner. The Gorgeous and the Awful live here as high-voltage neighbors. The perfect splash of the sun and the unseen closed-door Wilson family hurricane. We hear a semblance of the voices--both crazed and meticulously melodic--that played in Brian's skull for decades. And still play--in perhaps softer stanzas--to this day. We're taken back to a late California night when the veteran session drummer Hal Blaine tells Brian that even though he's worked and played with Sinatra, Dean Martin, Phil Spector and so many more, that he hears in Brian's music strokes of genius not found before. We get to eavesdrop as the Beach Boys talk about keeping up with the Beatles in the moment of Rubber Soul. We're in on the birth of Brian's "pocket symphony"-- the one that made house calls at nine studios before it was a wrap--called Good Vibrations. We hear Boy Brian move into deeper water...and "Surf''s Up." As the warm season peaks again over America, we at long last get a seat near the stage of the Endless Summer. Too close not to be stunned by the golden hue of the glory. And too near to miss the jab of the deep blue of the often terrible hurt.
One thing I'm really hoping to see in this film are the Pet Sounds and SMiLE sessions. I REALLY want them to go deep into that, because with the other Beach Boys films (which aren't that great), they never go deep into the creation of either album, and the MANY articles I've read as well as the book only talk about the things everyone already knows (the Fire coincidence, the sandbox, the tents, the barking dogs, etc.)
Saw the movie today. I wasn't excited about John Cusack playing the older Brian Wilson when I first saw the trailers, (even thought I think Cusack's a great actor) and nothing in the movie today changed my mind. I just didn't buy him as Brian. They could of at least lightened his hair a bit to TRY to make him look like Brian. On the other hand, Paul Dano deserves an Oscar nod...or at least a Golden Globe nod. He was great. He very much favored and captured young Brian to a tee AND did his own singing on top of it, and sounded JUST LIKE Brian which isn't easy to do. Great movie with the exception of the casting of Cusack.
Watching this movie and seeing Brian in the position he was in and the abuse he suffered from Eugene Landy reminds me a lot of what Britney Spears went through in her conservatorship. I hope one day they make a movie highlighting everything SHE went through as well
I was a young when the Beach Boy became famous. I am excited to see the movie. I heard so many things about them. It's sad when someone with a brilliant mind about music becomes sick.
Me too, I was young when the Beach Boys became famous, and as the years went by I had heard some about Brian Wilsons mental struggles, but never knew the full story until I saw this movie last night on Movies Channel. It was a great look back into the 60's era and and great inside look at the Beach Boys and the life of Brian Wilson. We grew up in the best of times!
People say John Cusack was wrong for the part of Brian Wilson. I respectfully disagree. I am a huge fan of John (and Joan) and I am quite certain that no matter who played the part, they would be criticized. So, there's that...
NO NO THAT CAN NOT BE. HE WAS ALL WRONG YOU'LL SEE. HE DIDN'T CARRY ANY OF THE TRUE CHARACTERISTICS OF WILSON. HE WAS WAY TO COOL AND COLLECTED. WILSON WAS WAY MORE QUIRKY AND HAD THE MEANS TO CREATE THE MUSIC IN HIS HEAD WITH A BOTTOMLESS POCKETBOOK AND CREATIVE HELPERS. GENIUS. WILSON. NOT CUSACK. CUSACK PLAYED THE MOVIE VERSION. DOCUMENTARY WILSON IS MUCH MORE NEUROTIC AND INTERESTING.
My sister saw this Movie, and it was amazing. Even if you don't admit that you're into The Beach Boys, Brian was lucky, he at least got help although Dr. Landy overstepped his boundaries over and over. I sometimes wonder if Florence Ballard Brian Jones and David Ruffin were Bipolar. If they got help it would have made a world of difference.
Just saw the movie, wow, just wow, dano, great actor, cousack as a crazy person, really touching, really beautiful, there's the ending which was great, and then the credits ending, the credits ending gave me a little lump in my throat, beautiful flick
The song, 'God Only Knows", is one of the best ever written by anyone, anywhere. The bare, humble truth came right out of Brian Wilson's heart with this song. So beautiful. It always gives me chills. Thank you, Brian!
Me too I just love it so much it's looks like beach boys years 60th anniversary celebration party years happy birthday contact info for years

One day Paul Dano WILL win an Academy award
Classic Dano
Oh he will alright, he will.
Riddle me this.
Well, he writes and directs too so he has more chances now.
Not anymore. Unless he transitions, or somehow becomes a different color.
He was brilliant.

You summed it up perfectly. I sat electrified in the theater the first time I saw it. Best movie of 2015. Dano was oscar-worthy for sure.
A couple years late to the party 🥴🙂👍👍👍
Paul Dano was incredible in the role. And John Cusack was great too. I also totally could've seen a younger Bill Murray crushing it as the older Brian Wilson.

Best bio pic of a musician in my opinion. Brian Wilson, what an extraordinary musician and human being ❤️👌🏻

Paul Dano being cast as Wilson was sneakily brilliant
I thought Cusack was Wilson?
Nevermind lol...I got it...older..younger
Agree, but they should have made him up as the older Brian also. Cusack is really miscast in this film.
+John Smith But cusack was amazing in this
@@justinc8250 they're both Brian
I found it very emotional, exceeded my expectations.
words cannot describe how excited i am to see this movie
As a Beach Boys fan, the scenes in the 60s are a treat to behold. It's like you're really there in the studio!
Like! Really
Paul Giamatti is always epic! Billions, John Adams, he just can play ruthless men so well! Loved this movie.
Pet Sounds, Smile Sessions and B. Wilson's sporadic 1967-76 period is of unsurpassable genius.
The scenes where he directs the studio musicians are fantastic, what presence!
Casting Paul Giamatti as Dr. Landy was inspired. The whole movie looks fantastic. I'll probably see it on opening day.
Ben Culture AND the guy doing Mike has nailed him perfectly. That perfectly smarmy, smug, quiet, baritone, laid-back California smartass.
Ben Culture Brian himself said Mike and Landy were both portrayed perfectly.
One of the most beautifully made trailers I've ever seen.
This movie was great! Was really surprised. Grew up with my Dad playing all these songs. Loved it.
For me, watching this movie means the same excitement as if someone how loves soccer watched a movie about Maradona o Pele or about Michael Jordan for basketball lovers. Is a movie about one of my heroes.
This movie was amazing. Saw it two times in a row. Just a fabulous movie.
+Dragonetta it's one of my favorites
The Boys have been in my blood ever since.
john cusack is great, all the haters go bother somewhere else
Paul Dano is such a good actor and it's crazy how much he looks the same as he did in that lifetime movie "Too Young To Be a Dad" that he did in 2002.
I saw this movie for the first time on Christmas having some downtime and thought it was fantastic. Never was a Beachboys fan. I love biopics and after watching I started to listen to their music and appreciate the songs knowing what the suffering for their art cost them. I am a fan now.
Saw this about a year ago... Still staying with me. Wonderful movie
John Cusack has absolutely nailed old Brain Wilson. Can't wait to see this because The Beach Boys are in my all time favourite band
Brian Wilson was a musical genius ahead of his time! Every musician during that era looked up to Pet Sounds! Revolutionary record!
That being said Dano did fantastic.
ɷ I Haveee Watchedddd Thiss Movieeee Leakedddd Version Hereeee : - t.co/SjZpZXw5gt
I saw this today and it was great. The movie changes moods between musical drama, thriller and romance film but it's a very satisfying film. I highly recommend it.
Hands down, one of the best movies I've ever seen. Really defies all the other biopics out there. I really hope it's nominated for some Academy Awards.
Elizabeth Banks just gives off this warmth on screen, a little underrated in my opinion
The Paul Dano part seems really great. The John Cusack part... not so much.
Mateus Murozaki Wow, I feel the exact opposite. So somewhere in the middle is a great, great movie.
Ben Culture Yeah, I feel like John Cusack nailed it and Paul Dano comes off really annoying. Interesting....
Mateus Murozaki I think the younger portions of Brian's life are probably gonna be way more interesting but Cusack will probably play the character better.
Mateus Murozaki Brian Wilson has actually said himself that Dano's was a more accurate portrayal so, just throwing that in to the discussion here.
Haha it's quite odd
oldiesgeek1 I think of all the biopics I've seen, like "Great Balls of Fire", "The Buddy Holly Story", "Ray", and even "I'm not There", about the Bob Dylan.
Terry Peterson Both Dano and Cusack are incredible, regardless of who looks more like Wilson. They both nail it.
I’m curious. Did she say why she hated it?
@@4danieltorresjr She didn't... She's not a big music fan, nor a beach boys fan. But I just don't think she cared enough to absorb the reality of it enough to appreciate it.
My favorite beach boys:
1. Brian Wilson
2-4. Carl, Al, Dennis
5. Landy
6.Charles Manson
7. Mike Love
BAHAHAHAHAHHA
NOT CHARLES LMAO
Never learn not to love
What about John Stamos 😂
Saw it @ SXSW. The film is great. The trailer's cut just right for it. I think you're all gonna dig it. Can't wait to see it again!
I don't know how I hadn't heard about this movie, but these are AMAZING casting choices.
I know right! Dano and Cusack don't really look alike but when watching the film they perfectly portray the older and younger versions of Brian and you can almost believe that they're the same person 20 or so years apart
After a long time, a movie that looks worthy of John Cusack's talent.
Paul Dano looks a lot more like Wilson than Cusack, but he still looks exactly like Paul Dano, the guy from "There Will Be Blood."
Besides, I just saw an article that places a photo of Wilson from this period next to one of Cusack in the movie, and it's not that far off.
Pretty terrific movie, by the way.
😑
Reminds me of the criticism directed at the actors playing John, Paul and George in Nowhere Boy. None of them looked like the people they were playing but for the most part they nailed the mannerisms and perhaps most importantly the essence of the characters they were playing. Especially the one playing Lennon.
Love love love love this movie so damn much!!!!!!
I’m 37, born in 85, listen to every and all styles of music. But I hold two truths to be self evident..
1. Paul McCartney and John Lennon are the greatest songwriters of all time.
2. Brian Wilson is GOD
Loved this movie. Dano and Cusak are perfect, but Elizabeth Banks is exactly the hero we need.
Fantastically delivered last line of the movie by Elizabeth "and then what? The look on her face and the little tilt of her head❤❤when they go to the wide profile shot
“Love and mercy, that's what you need tonight
Love and mercy to you and your friends tonight...”
-Brian Wilson
Counting the seconds for this movie to come out!
Why don't you have a... boyfriend?"
"He broke my heart...."
"....He shouldn't have done that.
This movie was amazing, so incredibly moving
Go with it.
Amazing film, & tough to watch at times. Bless you Brian Wilson, and thank you so much for the music.
Best Musical Biopic of all time? Probably.
"Ray" about Ray Charles, and "I Walk The Line" abuot Johnny Cash are very good too....i wouldn't know wich is the best !
Bohemian Rhapsody
@@bigchuungus3639 Is this a joke
Control is up there too
Mourningsword I don’t think so !!
This looks really good.
An underrecognized masterpiece.
2:19 is an iconic image. I find it tends to be good in other trailers as well.
I finally watched this last night. I don't know what took me so long. this is a great movie.
Paul Dano y John Cusak grandes actores ,maravilloso trabajo
It was amazing. I would say it was the best film of 2015 as of right now
I loved this movie. Emotional, powerful, mesmerizing, brilliant. And then there's the music...ahhh, that gorgeous, Beach Boy sound. An incredible, apparently true story. Well-named.
One of those movies that’s so good but barely anyone has seen it
Giamatti playing the unhinged psychologist. Great casting in that respect.
Imagine Bill Murray as the old Brian Wilson.
But still being a good movie.
Brian Wilson, is a Music Genius !
TOP. The perfect portrait of Brian Wlson, the Genius of POP music.
This was a great educational movie about the beach boys for me. They were well before my time so I got to learn about the things they experienced.
It is a REALLY good movie...
thank god we still have Brian.
We hear Boy Brian move into deeper water...and "Surf''s Up."
As the warm season peaks again over America, we at long last get a seat near the stage of the Endless Summer.
I saw this film and thought it was great! I am a huge Brian Wilson and Beach Boys fan, but even if I were not I still would have enjoyed this movie.
Watching this movie and seeing Brian in the position he was in and the abuse he suffered from Eugene Landy reminds me a lot of what Britney Spears went through in her conservatorship. I hope one day they make a movie highlighting everything SHE went through as well
Britney spears appears to need some sort of controller, her mental health doesnt seem too solid.
wow, this looks powerful
I was a young when the Beach Boy became famous. I am excited to see the movie. I heard so many things about them. It's sad when someone with a brilliant mind about music becomes sick.
Me too, I was young when the Beach Boys became famous, and as the years went by I had heard some about Brian Wilsons mental struggles, but never knew the full story until I saw this movie last night on Movies Channel. It was a great look back into the 60's era and and great inside look at the Beach Boys and the life of Brian Wilson. We grew up in the best of times!
Heart-wrenching, earnest, and absolutely fantastic
Great movie! The most innovative biopic since "American Splendor." (which, coincidentally, also featured Paul Giamatti)
It looks like Paul Dano and John Cusack are bringing their all into their parts.
Brian Wilson Biopic
Like that
Really Great & Awesome!! I Loved It Alot!! :)
Yess
I hope I get to see that movie soon & possibly at the theatre
Did you watch it in theatre?
