    If that mango pickle was Indian pickle, then that's the first American person I've seen who could tolerate(and even like) the taste of it. Indian pickle is soo much different than what pickle is in the west!!!

      It was Priya pickle, a brand of achaar that is popular in South India, so I can say for sure that it is authentic pickle. Like you I was surprised her mouth wasn't on fire and stuff too!

      Well you see, I thought he would not speak that much english, and yes, I was expecting pure hindi, even if there were a little Urdu in it, fine. But cos he spoke so much english, it wasnt really a challenge.       Haha yes.. but that's because spices don't exactly count as seasoning. Seasoning is basically just the ingredients that enhance the taste of food without altering it(like salt, pepper, or acids like lemon juice)

Example: Mexican seasoning can include: paprika, cayenne pepper, chilli powder etc. I get what you're saying in that when traditional recipes (formal cooking whatever) say 'season your food' they mean salt and pepper, but culturally this means herbs and spices to others. Those are all seasonings...

      @@AndSoWeLaughed no i get that. I am from India. In my home too we call all of these as seasonings. I was just talking from purely technical POV. Seasonings are those which enhances the flavours without altering the dish. Flavourings changes the taste. So yeahh..... that was my point.

    I am an Indian and I am in Tamil Nadu so I just know basics of Hindi but I do not know the deep Hindi, but this was a easy understandable to me and the recipe was mouthwatering, still cant believe that I did not try it

      From a purely linguistic standpoint, they’re dialects of same language. They’re only considered separate languages because of nationalism.

      They aren't, actually. Not only is the script completely different, Hindi comes from the ancient Sanskrit language and maybe a couple others. Urdu, on the other hand, is a melting pot of languages, with roots in Arabic, Persian, Turkish and yes, some Sanskrit. It's like saying English isn't a language tbh. Urdu was actually created so that people from different countries could understand each other, it's hardly a dialect of a single language.
      Also, I do not agree with the nationalism point. One, because Urdu existed long before India separated. Long, _long_ before. Like, centuries before. Secondly, because some places in India still consider Urdu their provincial language and Indian singers and poets study the tongue because it is regarded as the _language of poetry._ Hardly nationalisitc.
