That's just sad, I was looking forward to seeing it on the road again
One man spends his time putting cars together while another man is only interested in taking them apart.... It's the world in which we live in.
it sure it buddy
It's business. You don't spend $40+K on something that's worth less than that when finished.
@@BigBisalreadytakenYour overlooking that RUclips views will cover the difference.
And the one taking them apart sells the parts to more who put them together, or there would be no used spares!!!
Press F(40) to pay respects to the 348
Worked out well for you but hate to see that the car went from being saved to facing its original death sentence.
Death is only the beginning...
I’m very surprised you managed to get upside down on a project, you always seem so prepared. I suppose it was the right move fiscally speaking but it does hurt to see a nearly complete Ferrari get torn apart. Can’t wait to see the f40!
Maybe I could have saved a few pennies and resold some of the current engine parts making a profit at the end but there was also a ticking clock with some rare parts I REALLY needed that to me were worth more than the small profit (if any) I could have achieved if I had put a load more work into the 348.
@@Ratarossa As @mannykhoshbinyt says, everything has its price and everything is for sale for the right price. In this case the price was right to sell this to secure other projects.
It's a wise decision to sell it, in the end it doesn't make any sense to invest more in it than it's actually worth.
I bet one upvote that there are some F40 head lights in those boxes!
Buying genuine F40 headlights for a fake F40 would be an insane move @@briand8090
Looking forward to the next upload!!🏎️🏎️🏎️
I’m a little sad to see the 348 go to the breakers, as I was looking forward to the engine story play out. How and ever - sounds like something amazing is about to be enabled from this. Bring it on!! 🎉
I don’t get it why so many people start with the fancy wheel and paint job, not even starting with the bare essentials like making the technical part working…..
Not just that, starting with the fancy paint job before the bare essentials while already knowing the bare essentials are missing, because he knew the camshafts were missing the minute he got the car, which makes it even weirder (and more disappointing)
Sometimes you have to use the good bait to reel in that prized trophy fish. Now you are a few pieces closer. No shame in ya game at all!!! Content is always on point, and one of the channels I wait to watch every week..
Thanks so much buddy. You put that very well indeed
Awaiting a part from Eurospares now. Best I could tell, they were the only folks that had it. Glad they exist.
Glad to see you unload some side projects to fuel the f40 built.
no fooling you which project its for LOL
We all know. The secret is only thinly veiled
His attitude at the parts breaker was totally happy to have made the deal, he must be very excited about those parts received!
Controversial but if it works for you 🤷♂️
Lol the ending 😂 Ciao for now 🤪
I think you did the right thing. Shame to not see this one roll into the sunset under its own power, but the next project sounds exciting. Looking forward to watching it all unfold.
Sometimes just have to take the deal! EXCITED about the new parts...
keep the flow and the smiles going. i love how this guy is always " bright side. " i am learning at the late age of 70.
LOL! When you posted the question when the 348 was at the very beginning, I said you should just part the 348 out, finish off the BBi and then move on to the F40 build. I guess I could have saved you a couple of months. Can't wait to see what's next!
Love the fact you saved the wasp....that's the sort of thing id do.....😊
Mr Ratarossa, come back man! I hope you’re not discouraged by the comments some people left, feeling let down by the 348’s fate. We understand the numbers just made sense to break it for spares and potentially save several other 348s out there. Edit: Also understand the chance to pick up some expensive, near unobtainium F40 parts now or never! On to the next! Hope to see you soon!
The price of the respray is therefore now a total dead loss… I’m a realist… sometimes it’s better to do this but what a shame you went to the trouble of painting it… I doubt the value of that would be beneficial in this situation… which is a real shame… but if it’s best for you dude and future… you’ve done the right thing! 👍
Dude we are all wondering whats happening.. are you alright because if you are, its really poor form not to keep us updated - we respect you & in turn we deserve a little respect back.
That car under the cover looks very F40 like 😁 can't wait. Kind of sad end for the 348 but it makes sense...
Yes it was sad as I hate to let them get broken, but there was just to much with the engine v resell to make it work financially.
@@Ratarossa F-40 here we go..c'mon Scott we are so teased to the point is nerve wracking for you to unveil the mighty F-40 project
people will flood inn to your channel when you will start that thing no doubts in my mind.. Best wishes we love your channel so much..
You did the right thing, I did the same thing with a run down BMW once I realize the money I am spending to fixing it up will cost more than the car is worth. Half way through the project I let mine go. But that's one good looking Ferrari though, you got the body and interior perfect; but now it is scrapped! Thanks to your video I realize that Ferrari will be my dream car, as everything about it is expensive or rare or both!
That 348 is my dream car. You got it looking so nice too. I love the look of the 348, much nicer than 355. I always wanted a 348 since I first saw one. Should have bought the one I saw a few years back for 30k.
A couple years back I would have said that it was a dumb move, but after fixing a few cars where if I could have broke even halfway through I would have taken the opportunity I'd say it's not a bad call.
Well the 348 was at least in my eyes just a project to find the F40 and BBi projects so either way you can get the maximum profit out of it, I’m all for it!
I can’t wait to see that F40!
When it becomes uneconomical there’s nothing you can do unless it’s simply throwing money away. If it gets you a step closer to your dream car then that’s a good thing.
Had to be done mate!! Onto better things… 😊
Thanks buddy you know it made sense 🙏🏻
BBI update Scott? Unfortunately this one made no financial sense, and off to the big Ferrari toy box in the sky. I love that you finish your builds one way or another. Now, personally the project I want to see is a bbi finished and sold for serious money to fund a complete refurb of your challenge stradali, and a total transformation of the rat rod to a mint convertible testarossa. F40 knockoff can be whenever. Love your content bruv.
You did the right thing my man. They made you the offer and you cut your ties. Wise decision. Really hope we'll be able to see the upcoming F40 LM build. ;-)
Makes me sad to hear she’s being broken…. Came so close..😢
I think you did the right thing, can't wait yo know what next build will be.
You've absolutely done the right thing selling the 348 for parts. It was likely a donor car to begin with and now it can end as a donor car as well.
Really forget my burdens with your videos mate. Keep going. Wish you the best
thank you
Gutted it will die but has a shit history and would be none numbers matching so it what it is….
Sure you've made the right call. The parts will go on to save other 348's whilst getting you a head start on the next project. Looking forward the new project.
You should have finished it and put it back on the road.
You've done the BEST job in passing that car on to another who can use all the parts!
I sincerely hope this relieves you of all that slog and gives you more precious time to spend with your lovely wife and children. They are the BEST use of your time.
Please enjoy! Aloha!
Great ending, that i did not expect. Just goes to show how renewable cars can be if dealt with properly.
Where art thou? You been kidnapped by alien's and probed in a certain hole? 😂
Gutted you never got to finish it as it was taking great shape but you probably made the right decision. Looking forward to seeing what’s up coming up next mate
If the deal works for you it’s the right deal. I have no problems with cars getting parted or anything. You’re channel needs parts every day so why would anyone get upset by it
You can't save all of them😅, in a way you are giving life to some others. It's F40 time 🤩🤩
As much as I love a 348, I can't wait to see what you have next!
I’ve always loved the honesty! (And the skill etc). I also love the fact that nothing is staged.. it’s real world stuff. Nothing is worse than a predictable RUclips channel.. nice one!! Wishing you every success!
You did the right thing Scott, you know how it goes with a project like that?? Never ends where you would like it to,
Your Dream car ??? Is the end goal n step closer now.
Good stuff.... Don't drop anymore lights 😮
It's a bit of a shame that it will be broken down for parts, just because you done so much for it, but economically it made no sense if I'm honest, and if this allows the secret project to go through, I'm 100% supporting the decision.
Thanks buddy appreciate your backing on this decision
maybe someone will put in a new drive train newer parts? why waste a good chassi
@@thedude4795 not every jewel is worth saving, if the sum of the parts are worth more than the entire car, without a engine, it doesn't make economic sense to keep the car, try to find an engine, and at the end of the day you have a pretty much salvaged Ferrari without a matching numbers engine, for the price of a original one. If it was a more desirable car like the 430 Scuderia he had, but it's one of the least loved Ferrari's that doesn't have 4 seats, and the prices reflect that.
Better than selling as an EV project car - at least it'll keep more 348s at their best and the work you did has increased the value of the package so all was not lost! Loving the BBi resto most but good luck with the other one - I'm sure it'll be epic 😎
You did exactly the right thing Scott 👍 this helps everyone and gets the mystery project a little closer 😉
The right decision is what you decide it is. Other people can freely express their views but they are unlikely to know all the details of what is involved in your decision making. Keep enjoying what you do.
Best not to get sentimental over a car, the numbers need to stack up. I have a money pit on the go that I’ve owner 32 years!
Financially speaking, you absolutely did the right thing. As for the car being as nice as it is, it’s fate is saddening. Anyway, Onward!
Scott I get the logic of selling off the 348 for parts. This was financially sound. However one of the reasons I watch your channel is for the iffy project choices you make that still end well. This opportunity has been lost. I was so interested in seeing how you would reconcile the drive train issue. All the body and interior work you did sucked me in. Then you broke my heart. LOL. Your next move had better be worth the disappointment. On a serious note, it was just a 2.5 Motronic early car any way. I’d almost own a Mondial instead. Cheers!
From an economical point of view, it was the best choise. Especially as it was supposed to net you a profit. The only way a car like this would make sense is if you were keeping it, and did an engine & box upgrade from something like a 360, as you could run aftermarket ecu etc and sell the espensive afm's and more.
Oh what a shame, I think that car should have been saved... I wish someone could step in now and take it before it gets ripped apart. 😞
With all the bits in the background of all the videos, it looks like that future project may be a ferrari f40. Look forward to it if it is! If not Ill still watch whatever it is.
No doubt the deal has also saved you many many hours of work on the car. Your labour is free to you but still has substantial value.
No surprise. From day 1 there looked to be far too much wrong. Both body and mechanical. Anyway onwards and upwards. Thanks for the vids.
When it comes to your cars you definitely know what you're doing! If you fealt this was the best way to go, I have no doubt in my mind it was!!
I think you did the right thing there that would have cost way too much money to try to restore you would have never recouped any of that money. That guy has a better system for what that car has to offer. Can't wait to see what your special project is going to be. 🤙
I think it’s the right choice. Although the car would’ve no doubt turned out great, the history and the fact it’s an early example would probably have made it a hard sell at a decent price.
That was a fun project to watch but I think the next one is gonna be even better!! Can’t wait brother. 🍻🇨🇦✌🏼
With the horrendously dear spares prices, the unknown of what else you may need, and the obvious difficulty in finding some parts, against a full service 348 one carful owner at £45K, you have definitely done the sensible thing.
Sad to see it get broken, think it was going to be great, but you can’t argue with the finances, makes good business sense, can’t wait to see the next project
Halfway through the video, I would woulv thought you were going to put in a replacement engine/gearbox and recoup some money from whats in the 348 at the moment but I think this was the right call. Keep it up!
I think you made the right choice here Scott :)
I bet you traded it for F40 parts 👀👀👀
you'll have to wait and see buddy. Thanks for the support though
@@Ratarossa you're welcome! Can't wait for the "secret" project reveal video 😁👌
Ciao from Italy 🇮🇹
New video please!!!! 4 weeks without…. 😞
Little niggley gremlins with some electrics, but on the whole very good news and exciting. It makes sense to sell in parts as it's more valuable.
Did I do the right thing here with the 348 ?
Yes, so let’s get the ‘secret’ project going.
(Though obviously you could’ve sold to them before repainting, but at least we got some cool content)
I was expecting an LS Swap
No 😢
What a sad end.
No you basically should have done it from the beginning
scott... everibody knows for years that you want to build an F40.. its no mistery anymore... start talking about it and making videos about it
Seems like some one could 3D scan and print that little fog light trim piece for less than 600 lbs
You saved your ass on that for selling it tbh, good deal! :)
Best decision in the long run Scott. Looking forward to the F40 content. 👌
Still think a video documenting your car history and any stories that went with the cars would be excellent for the channel
But can you finish the BBi already?
From a 348 owner I sadly have to say you have done the right thing. That car was not financialy worthy to repair due to it’s initial bad condition with many expensive parts missing. Don’t worry about your decision, I really think that was good.
You are doing a great job with all those Ferrari.
what happens to a 348 chassi like this one, with engine parts and box missing? Could a custom a shop put in a different drive train with available parts?
@@thedude4795 Yes, of course a different engine and gearbox could be installed, but bearing in mind the initial price for the car and repairs, I don’t think that will be cost efective. Even more, when the car will be finished will not have a proper maintenance history so it will be on the lower sale price range. Really sad ending for such a beautiful car
Beautiful machine, ferrari anything is just so cool 😎
Couldn't agree more!
Since the eventual F40 build will probably end up using some reproduction parts alongside the authentic ones, would you rather keep it a normal F40 or take it a step further and find/have made F40 LM or Comp parts? Keep up the awesome work!
Interesting comment, wait and see which parts the 348 was traded for, it will answer your question
Seems like a wise decision. It does free up your time and can now be spend on your next project. Maybe if you had completed the car, you would end up with a bit more cache, but then again the items you needed for your next project might have been sold. Get it while it's hot they say. Now you have te parts and some extra time to spend. So, yes I think it was the right thing to do. Can't wait to find out what you've got in return.
That was a surprising turn of events but I think you probably did the right thing!
Well i didn’t expect that outcome….if you are comfortable with the deal…nuff said! 👍👍
Scott you have many projects, sad to see it go as it was coming along nicely. Wish id have done a bit of math midway on my E30 project as where im at now i could have bought one done for a similar price. Its a true art form to know when to stop refocus and pivot in order to achieve your goals. Cant wait for the F40 build ❤
You done what needed to be done good choice in my eyes loving the content
Can't deny I'm gutted that the 348 didnt get a new heart and back on the road - it looked such a good car, in fantastic shape. But if it gets you where you need to be on another project, then so be it, I guess.
You're a RUclipsr. Working on projects is part of the business plan. You should have continued with the project to make videos.
Great video Scott. You definitely did the right thing. If you weren't going to at least get your money back by fully restoring the 348, then selling it as is for spares was the way to go... And the F40 LM thanks you for it! ;-)
Well considering all the work you had thrown into it, that was a surprising ending. I'm surprised you started it in the first place given how bad it was, but after everything, breaking at Eurospares was surprising.
Surprised with the end result there
You definitely did the right thing shame it wasnt before you had it painted to save a few £
Agreed, clearly i shows i had no intentions before of trading the car in to break otherwise theres no way i would have wasted the money to respray or retrim it
HOLY SHIT! That trim piece was almost 600 bucks?! insane! Great video as always!
Never thought I would see the day where a headlight lens removal was as stressful as a heart transplant. $$$
Beautiful Video Scott, you did the right thing.
You have a Ferrari F40??? NICE!!! :)
HOPE THE F40 BUILD STARTS SOON, This left me sad
Why are all the major RUclips channels only interested in saving more and more expensive cars? The whole attraction of your channel is that you save Ferraris from the breakers, not that you take on hyper cars like Matt and Tavarish. You might have raffled off the 348 or donated it to a RUclipsr that appreciates classics. Sure an F40 attracts more viewers but there are already so many hyper cars being restored at the moment.
Actually for me I only choose the cars i'm passionate about. Mainly Ferrari's from all eras. The car I want to build is just my dream car, its not a youtube decision and obviously my route to rebuild all these cars on the channel is very different. One day i will be sensible and buy cars for youtube views like all the others, currently I'm just videoing and sharing what I would buy and tinker with anyway without RUclips .
We need the f40 videos!!! The wait is too much!!!
Little bit of a bummer not seeing this project finished, but please get back working on the Bbi now.
Not the ending I expected, but I understand. It's a business, after all.
I suppose you can think it was 348's destiny to sacrifice itself for the f40 shaped "special project" Lol
What a very odd end to a “rebuild project”.
Seems such a shame to part it out after all the work done on the bodywork. Poor old 348 could quite easily have been put back on the road.
Shame it had to end like this but unfortunately it's one of those things. Wish you'd have made the decision sooner as there were a few parts I would have had for my 348 (We have a mutual friend, Dan who told me about the car a while back). Luckily I managed to get them fixed and the car is now enjoying a new life with it's new owner. Great videos, keep up the good work.
Hi Scott. Wow it's so Great to see the electronics working. It might not be Perfect but this is a BIG start bro. I can't wait to see how much the Engine parts will be. Expensive I think. Hopefully you will be able too pull afew strings. And favours Scott. Wow I'm surprised it turned out this way. This has something to do with the F40. 😅🇨🇮
Smooth move Scott. Stepping stone to the mega project. 🍿
I was just going to ask " What happened to the F40 clone project ?". But I think you've answered that.
