@@westboundbadger No. It's not going to be a legit F40. Scott doesn't just have millions to spend on a car. He has been transparent for a long time and have said that he can't afford an F40, but wants to make a replica.
Excited that Scott got lucky to build a real F40 and did not go with the tribute to F40 route! Dreams come true! Thanks for this interview, @eurospares! All the best to Scott!
Excellent video. I love Scott's channel; it's my favourite on RUclips, but he hasn't posted a new video for 2 months and I was beginning to worry about him. Good to see he's alive and well, and can't wait to see his new videos... whenever they're posted.
Yeah, I love his unique Ratarossa (which he should keep this way in my opinion, don't paint it) and I really like his driveway maintenance videos. Changing belts on a driveway where most of the people would bring their car to a specialist. Looking forward to new content of Scott.
If this f40 turns out like the 360 challenge convertible that’s going to be an amazing car. I hope he’s banking a ton of videos as I’ve really missed the content!
Some great news there and I can't wait to see Scott get stuck into the F40 build. That 512 is just getting so close and I hope that he gets to keep it when finished because the work on that is exceptional.
Maaannn Scott I'm all in for it bro!! Matter of fact all of your projects I've been all in for them going back to the Orange and Black 308! Been had my notifications on for your channel! Great channel Eurospares!!
So happy I stumbled on this video! I am over the moon happy for Scott that he found an actual F40 that he's able to rebuild. It's so exciting. This is huge and we had to search for the inside scoop. I imagine is that he's already got a buyer for the BBi project along with some of his other cars to fund the, dare I say, the LM build (instead of the F40 build). Now, he just needs to finish up the BBi and the 328 and get them moved along, finish up the Stradale refurbish and on to the LM build. YAHOO!!!
Outstanding! Thanks for the insider info. Been dying to know Scott’s vision after all the hidden F40 hints. Can’t wait for this build and to see a future visit to Eurospares. Tnx for the behind scenes!
I delivered new Ferrari in the mis 80,s for a dealer in Newport RI. The testarossa went to Western mass after service..the 308 went to western Connecticut. I did tons of those. Best summer job i ever had.
I have the same size front wheels on my next build 18" x 12j. Turning radius is still an unsolved problem for me too😂 I am debating getting them rebarreled🤔
The Alfa Romeo SZ and RZ have the same clocks. If you can't find a genuine one. You probably find more parts from Ferrari in that car. Like bonnet opening mechanism, steeringcollum, switches and gauges. Good luck!
Great video! So pleased Scott is going for the LM variant. Saw their first race at LM in 1995. Love Eurospares - get all my Maserati GTS part from you. Keep up the great work!
Can't wait to see more of this project. Did you hear StanceWorks is also building an F-40? Would be great to see you cooperate on this but a battle for parts would also be glorious.
The longest run I did in an F40 (in the standard seat) in one go was over 200km / 4h. They are REALLY very comfortable. After 4h you are completely deaf, but your back feels fine, lol.
Yeahh.. but he builds a different beast based on that inside garage - LM version.. Just like Enzo started Scuderria Ferrari F1- team mechanics & technicians called : Garragisti mechanics.. Scott will be one of those specialists to assembly the beast ( if he is not already in disguise )..
Thanks for the update Scott - please please can you not take the BBi engine to Iain Tyrrell or Barkaways for it's rebuild! It would be both great for either channel, including your's to have such more great content. Just a suggestion...
Back in the beginning of the new millennium I was at a Ferrari club track day with my 355. One of the members had an F40LM. I’ll never forget the sound it made down the main straight at Calder. Where is that car now?
I thought seeing the cars in your website, how about contents about them and how they got there - this is because I seen a Testarossa that has 37k miles and the website doesn’t explain much about the car
Umm it might cost as much as the damn car, but he needs to give the V12 to Tyrrell, of Tyrell's classic cars as someone who did a 2000 horsepower RX8 kinda means he's used to way too modern stuff, as these used a K bosh fuel injection system, which thanks to that has a milder cam than what you would find on a 356 or a non BBI car, and the valves, the valve lash, the oil and everything else that it will require, plus he would know how to tune it, keep it within spec, and what weaknesses the engine had from standard that might have caused the thing to fail in the first place worst part is, I bet i know what the compression probably was, a dicky fuel rail, like something was letting air by, or something wasnt machined right, as ferrari in this era was just getting into fiat ownership and everything was in a downturn thanks to the gas crunch its why the 308 was such a godsend, it was able to meet emissions, not use that much gas and still be fun, while offering comparable power to the cars that ferrari was putting out 30 years earlier like if anything at the very least, he should send it to the guy who was able to mend and figure out what was wrong with the 308, just for a preliminary, as it could be something insanely simple also Sodium such and so with the valves, I think these cars had the dicky valves, Ian Tyrell Said that when talking of the testarossa like the valves were made of magnesium, and could break like he needs to send it to a proper professional, as its already broken when new once

Nice to hear you again. Amazing project, good luck. I will for sure follow this project
I'm sure for less than £10 G the Testarossa could get a respray and a soft top conversion then sell it for a shedload more !
It costs more than £10k to get a decent paint job these days, even on an "average" classic 😢
