I really love the way Camille cross-examines a witness. The way she says “that’s not my question” when they get evasive and then she REPEATS the question slowly and with emphasis. He might be the doctor but the way she took apart his testimony was surgical.
kinda funny that she is hailed as a superb attorney, as she is.. however, Heard's attorneys are just so fricking horrible that she does shine like a diamond in the CA sunshine 🌞
It really shows how biased and bought this doctor was. If this doctor was impartial, he would've given solid short and precise answers instead of attempting to push his agenda to the jury repeatedly. The Heard legal team really did a poor job coaching this witness. I'm amazing he's been used by the same legal team several times before and they still haven't taught him to at least appear credible.

True, however a team is only as good as the weakest member, which Ms. Vasquez is certainly not. So far I haven't seen any of Johnny's lawyers do a poor job. They all brought their A game.
Each team member works on individual parts of the case and particular witnesses that's why different lawyers will cross. Etc they come up with their questioning etc for their witnesses and then as a team let eachother know what they will be doing and what they have discovered etc to get opinions on their specific portion of the case. So she has come of with the majority of her portion yes. Not to mention her delivery. How she handles herself in court, while questioning witnesses and in response to what they say.
Yeah. It’s all about her delivery. She handles all of it like a pro. The data. The lines of questioning. Etc might all be a team effort yes. But Camille is the perfect level of poised, aggressive, courteous, and fact-focused in her examinations. The whole team is amazing, for sure.
Correct. I agree with your POV. My theory in why many lawyers do not sound so competent is because of study/preparation + the truth. I think when motivated by truth, you do better work as a lawyer which comes from high motivation which leads to better preparation.
For instance the flat hand on counter versus flat hand with fingers curled over argument is just pathetic . That minuscule detail is not a sign of deliberate lying come on.

She was very good. Helped a lot by Amber's team. There are a number of points just during this cross that they should have objected but stayed quiet. Amber's team also failed to prepare properly. They ask a staggering amount of leading questions or hearsay questions. Those should have been weeded out during normal role play prep. We end up watching a very well prepared and professional legal team go up against a sloppy and lazy team. A very smart tactic Camille uses is when presenting previous testimony. She will hand the pages over and say "page 102, line 6" for instance. She waits until everybody is in the correct spot and ready, then will say, "Apologies, page 103". It means the witness has less time to prepare in their head.
Idk, Judge Penny seems to be dragging this out pretty far despite how confident the whole world is that Amber is clearly lying. Publicity stunt maybe???

As a medical doctor, I am so ashamed to see how unethical this doctor was. There is no way a sane medical profession can testify or claim to know how an injury was sustained when he never even examined the patient nor witnessed what occurred. His licence should be revoked ASAP!

This man stated under oath that he had no knowledge of those pictures which means he has never seen them so how could he in fact make an opinion without full evidence. @@adrianavargova she didn’t have to, with this guy he was meant to review pictures and what not, he just went off 2 or 3 things and created an opinion without all matters included, that said if she shows him everything and he agrees to not have seen them then it means he wasn’t fully informed, thus his opinion isn’t as valid if not at all anymore. this basically means that the judge and jury can decide for themselves whether or not his whole testimony and deposition is worth anything/useful at all to the case.

It's already known (consistently) that Johnny's fingers were curled, and that it would've been moving diametrically against the motion of the bottle. I want you to imagine that. A bottle is hurling to your hands, with your fingers curled. You retract your hand (forward and back to your body). The bottle smashes into your hand, glass flies around everywhere. Your hand glides along the broken glass. It definitely causes the "chafing" that is consistent with Depp's injury. If you look at the fingernail, you can see that it's been chipped off, which is something consistent with glass shards impacting and then slicing across a diametrically moving hand.
Oh for sure! Its a very difficult job to try to convince 12-15 different people of one thing while keeping them actively engaged at the same time. She's amazing at her job without a doubt.

This seemed like this was just too easy for Camille to tear his testimony apart. She really does her research and homework before she does her questioning. Good lessons here: it pays to be honest and it pays to be prepared.
it also pays to remember that a GOOD lawyer wont ask you a question unless they already know the answer. it truely does pay to be honest, can only hope for his sake that he actually got paid instead of just a pledge to pay.

We are left in no doubt that there are holes in the narrative because she pushes on all the weak points and the witness can’t save their story. Dude she's definitely good at what she does, but lawyer of the year?.. Fyi crimes are happening everyday and so does court trials, I'm fairly certain far more complicated and difficult cases has been dealt with and still are being dealt with by even better lawyers, only thing that's different is that this one's being broadcasted and parties involved are big time celebrities, but for lawyers and others working in court trials these are pretty common occurrences not sn extraordinary feat.

She's not acting too professional when she's looking at the jury shaking her head and smirking... lawyers aren't supposed to show frustration/ emotions like that in the court room..Her and the lawyer on the other side of Johnny are both acting like that.. while laughing and smirking with Johnny at the doctors responses while he's being questioned.. the only ones acting professional are the lawyers in the second row.
I'll never understand why a doctor would ever want to risk his reputation by giving such an obviously biased take. It is irresponsible for a medical professional to claim any knowledge of how an injury was/wasn't sustained based entirely off questionable secondhand information. Even if the injury wasn't typical of the described mechanism, a man of his experience should understand that outlier cases exist, especially with weirdly shaped objects like a bottles.

Well, being reminded that you said something under oath that is different to what you are currently saying under oath is enough for relatively smart people to realize that perjury is a thing they should care about. Attorneys should never ask a question of their client that they don’t already know the answer to. Amber has a legal team that appears to be in way over their heads. Johnny’s team appears very well prepared on both direct and cross examination. Amber thinks that if she sits there, lip quivering pretending to cry, while staring directly to the jury. Even though attorneys tell clients to look at the jury occasionally, make eye contact, etc. Normal people will be mostly looking, listening and directing their answers to the attorneys speaking. That is just human nature. Swiveling in her chair and speaking directly to the jury feels and looks unnatural. Johnny Depp’s legal team should have had Camille Vasquez doing ALL of the questioning. Amber would have gotten very angry and caused the “Oh Poor Me” facade slip much sooner.

This has been their tactic for the entirety of the trial. There have been several witnesses that literally said "I WAS TOLD..." while giving completely untrue testimony/ testimony contrary to the facts already established in the case.

My favourite 4 things about this trial. 1) Psychologist Shannon Curry's testimony. 2) Camille Vasquez being a boss everytime she speaks. 3) Watching Elaine Bredehoft struggle to ask questions competently and being generally inept when she speaks. 4) Jonny Depp saying "Mr Rottenborn" as often as he could with a straight face.

Every aspirating lawyer should watch Camille Vasquez in this trial. She is so economical with the court time, brings her points sharp and quick across. That is like a catalyst, it makes her arguments even more convincing.
Ms. Vasquez is really good at keeping the questions tight and accurate so there is no room for the witness to excuse themselves, but let's not forget that Ms. Vasquez is also backed up by all her team. We can see that they are constantly trying to give her extra information and papers so she can question even further. Mr. Depp's whole team has come prepared and we should def see this as not just Vasquez's glory moment, but of the whole team. I know that I would feel sad if only 1 member of my group is appreciated rather than all.

Heck, he didn't even see some of the pictures that could proof that the injury was caused by vodka bottle. But he made a statement that it wasn't vodka bottle that caused injury. He made this statement based on medical records and Depps testimony, you don’t need to be the one treating to make the assumptions he did as an expert witness can use their knowledge and background to come to those conclusions

He was everything beside a specialist. He wasn't there to know what happened. He was saying that maybe Johnny cut his finger on the car door but he was forgetting that the tip of the finger and the blood was found on their house in Australia. He was so off. Everything he said was definitely a Hearsay, because he wasn't there and only made assumptions on what happened.
He was confident that the accordion door theory was most consistent with the injury, then Camille surprised him with all the evidence of it happening in the kitchen, which he was conspicuously not shown by Amber’s team…

Since when is a doctor also a forensic expert? This doctor didn’t examine the bottle in the scene or even listen to the JDs testimony that his fingers where hanging. For £5000 he went beyond his pay grade and looked like fool in cross examination.
@@temandkk to add… there is a pupil recording of the incident where Amber confesses to causing the Injury. That audio recording is not allowed in court due to some legal issues of a third party in the sound. SO YES, AMBER DID IT. Search on RUclips and you’ll hear confess!
One thing I would like to say : This doctor is a bit more genuine than the other psychiatrist guy. Like medical professional, he shared his observations but to Camille's point, the weapon cannot be ruled out.
I don’t think he knows or realizes how heavy a big glass vodka bottle that’ contains liquid inside of it is ? or the damage it can do to one’s body part ?
His conclusion about the bottle didn’t make much sense though. A huge and heavy vodka bottle can easily crush a finger when thrown at the finger especially if that finger in angled down so it’s caught between two objects. To dismiss that is crazy.

Probably the only doctor willing to support their theory because top docs are paid $50k+/day to testify. There are a few that charge $100k/day, first class airfare, 5 star hotels, and all expenses paid. That does not include prep work, just to show up. This guy is certainly not one of them.
Scamber has lawyers, ie, ambulance chasers. Johnny has attorneys, ie, those who study, learn, take the law seriously and don’t take cases based on billable hours to see how much they will make.
My daughter was in a hit and run. It’s not the surgeon testifying about her injuries it’s an forensic accident expert. The surgeon job is to repair the injuries, not to establish how they happened. It’s physics not biology.

@North Wind she has rods and bolts all over her body, the bottoms of her leg was removed by impact. The leg was so damaged they had to remove it above the knee. She would have died if it were not for an off duty policeman who put on a tourniquet. She learning to walk again.

There’s very few people out there who have the brains and balls to be a lawyer of any reasonable caliber. Teaching isn’t for everyone either (that’s what I’m in uni for) but the world definitely needs more qualified teachers, not lawyers
Camille is a basic thinker. She takes you to the roots and exposes you. Keep it simple, keep it clear, keep it basic and persuasion is the result. Amber knows how to disentangle complex scenarios.
In order to present things in a clear concise direct manner requires more than "basic" thinking. Like all professionals in any field, they make the complex seem so easy & graceful. AH & ALL her witnesses & legal team, complicate things with circular evasiveness to skirt and obfiscate the truth while trying to sound smart... True, however a team is only as good as the weakest member, which Ms. Vasquez is certainly not. So far I haven't seen any of Johnny's lawyers do a poor job. They all brought their A game.
Each team member works on individual parts of the case and particular witnesses that's why different lawyers will cross. Etc they come up with their questioning etc for their witnesses and then as a team let eachother know what they will be doing and what they have discovered etc to get opinions on their specific portion of the case. So she has come of with the majority of her portion yes. Not to mention her delivery. How she handles herself in court, while questioning witnesses and in response to what they say.
Yeah. It’s all about her delivery. She handles all of it like a pro. The data. The lines of questioning. Etc might all be a team effort yes. But Camille is the perfect level of poised, aggressive, courteous, and fact-focused in her examinations. The whole team is amazing, for sure.

She was very good. Helped a lot by Amber's team. There are a number of points just during this cross that they should have objected but stayed quiet. Amber's team also failed to prepare properly. They ask a staggering amount of leading questions or hearsay questions. Those should have been weeded out during normal role play prep.
We end up watching a very well prepared and professional legal team go up against a sloppy and lazy team.
A very smart tactic Camille uses is when presenting previous testimony. She will hand the pages over and say "page 102, line 6" for instance. She waits until everybody is in the correct spot and ready, then will say, "Apologies, page 103". It means the witness has less time to prepare in their head.

I want you to imagine that. A bottle is hurling to your hands, with your fingers curled. You retract your hand (forward and back to your body). The bottle smashes into your hand, glass flies around everywhere. Your hand glides along the broken glass. It definitely causes the "chafing" that is consistent with Depp's injury. If you look at the fingernail, you can see that it's been chipped off, which is something consistent with glass shards impacting and then slicing across a diametrically moving hand.

I'll never understand why a doctor would ever want to risk his reputation by giving such an obviously biased take. It is irresponsible for a medical professional to claim any knowledge of how an injury was/wasn't sustained based entirely off questionable secondhand information. Even if the injury wasn't typical of the described mechanism, a man of his experience should understand that outlier cases exist, especially with weirdly shaped objects like a bottles.

Attorneys should never ask a question of their client that they don’t already know the answer to. Amber has a legal team that appears to be in way over their heads. Johnny’s team appears very well prepared on both direct and cross examination. Amber thinks that if she sits there, lip quivering pretending to cry, while staring directly to the jury. Even though attorneys tell clients to look at the jury occasionally, make eye contact, etc. Normal people will be mostly looking, listening and directing their answers to the attorneys speaking. That is just human nature. Swiveling in her chair and speaking directly to the jury feels and looks unnatural. Johnny Depp’s legal team should have had Camille Vasquez doing ALL of the questioning. Amber would have gotten very angry and caused the “Oh Poor Me” facade slip much sooner.
This was so embarrassing for this doctor. Imagine giving testimony without considering all the angles and evidence. So incompetent!

Ms. Vasquez is really good at keeping the questions tight and accurate so there is no room for the witness to excuse themselves, but let's not forget that Ms. Vasquez is also backed up by all her team. We can see that they are constantly trying to give her extra information and papers so she can question even further. Mr. Depp's whole team has come prepared and we should def see this as not just Vasquez's glory moment, but of the whole team. I know that I would feel sad if only 1 member of my group is appreciated rather than all.

He was saying that maybe Johnny cut his finger on the car door but he was forgetting that the tip of the finger and the blood was found on their house in Australia. He was so off. His conclusion about the bottle didn’t make much sense though. A huge and heavy vodka bottle can easily crush a finger when thrown at the finger especially if that finger in angled down so it’s caught between two objects. To dismiss that is crazy.

Probably the only doctor willing to support their theory because top docs are paid $50k+/day to testify. There are a few that charge $100k/day, first class airfare, 5 star hotels, and all expenses paid. That does not include prep work, just to show up. This guy is certainly not one of them.

My daughter was in a hit and run. It’s not the surgeon testifying about her injuries it’s an forensic accident expert. The surgeon job is to repair the injuries, not to establish how they happened. It’s physics not biology.

There’s very few people out there who have the brains and balls to be a lawyer of any reasonable caliber. Teaching isn’t for everyone either (that’s what I’m in uni for) but the world definitely needs more qualified teachers, not lawyers
