If you guys have machine shop recomendations in the knoxville/east TN area, drop em in the comments. Maybe prices they charged you as well. Thanks guys!
Mike lough build 1500_2500 hp capable LS motors. I know many 1500 builds from him he may be someone u wanna at least call lough race engines
Hey I did your front end work on you vette. If need any thing cosmetic let me know.
Hey I'm from morristown there is a guy in Sevierville name robs auto on newport hwy he's really good
Good content. I'll be tearing into a LM7 5.3 this spring, good knowlege to have!
Hecks yeah man sounds like a plan
My '08 Suburban 5.3 is sitting in the driveway again, DOD failure. I "sprung" the lifter, tuned out AFM/DOD, blocked oil to towers and got two years out of it. Then merging onto I40 from Lovell (here in Knox) had a semi not lane change, had a choice, brake or hit it. Decided to save the brakes and run ahead, bad idea, 4100 rpm, bang that was it. Same lifter dropped again. Sprung lifter again, failed on start up. Time to just do a full AFM delete, do it right. Appreciate the video and also looking for a good shop here in Knoxville.
Unfortunately I can’t help you with a shop since I don’t use any brother.
Appreciate you, man. Tearing down an LM7 this weekend. Hoping i don't find anything catstrophic. Drove it home before i pulled the engine so im tryin to be optimistic 😂
Don't take it to B&R on Chapman hwy, They had my stuff for 4 months , after the first 2 months they kept saying "next week" another 2 months later I picked it up. I'll check with the guys at the shop for the machine guy they use, he's very quick. You are more than welcome to stop by anytime at the Rotec bldg. on Middlebrook at Ed Shouse. We could pick your brain on a twin turbo Sqaure body C-10 build.
just had them same BAD LUCK ......performance race engines in cleveland tn just did my short block and looked great
Do you happen to remember what they charged you for machining? Cleveland is only an hour or so from me. I’d be willing to take it that far for sure for quality work as long as the price is reasonable.
900 @@BadLuckGarage
@@mikeday852 Thanks brother. What all did they do for that? I’m hoping that was for a lot more than I want done. I’m just wanting it tanked, decked, honed, and cam bearings installed. But if it comes down to it I can do the hone and bearings myself. I just want it clean and make sure I’ve got a good sealing surface for the heads.
You keep it 100. I Respect That. 😎
I appreciate that!
Looking at those bearings, I don’t have too much hope for that oil pump…
I don't know about ls experience but, Claxton machine shop done work for me in past and did great work.
Is that the one off edgemoore rd? We took a set of heads there a couple years ago when we built the DR Novas engine. Maybe they were having an off day or had a worker that just didnt give a shit or something but I wasn't very impressed with the way they gave them back....especially for the price they charged just to resurface them. They could have at least tried to blow some of the debri off or even just turned them over and dumped it out for $140. It just felt sloppy to me to hand someone back their heads with an inch of metal shavings still in them. Thats just not the attention to detail I'm looking for if I'm about to stick several thousands into an engine build brother. But i do appreciate the recommendation sir!👍
Yes they are behind Ben's... I had zero complaints but that's been a few years ago also. Only other places I know of are down my way now... Chattanooga area now
I’m getting ready to build my 5.3, any recommendations for new heads and cam? It’s out of a 2011 Tahoe, it’s going back In with a 6l90
I recommend calling someone like BTR, answering all thier questions about your individual build and your expectations for it, and letting them recommend the cam that’s right for you specifically.
Hi guys, I've used aluminum foil where your drip pan doesn't go quite right then divert the oil to where it needs to go.
Great idea brother. I think I’m actually gonna cut an old funnel in half and pop rivet it to the drip pan right there for a more permanent solution.
Whites performance in Kingsport they do damn good work!!!
I’ve been told they don’t really like to mess with the LS stuff.
👍👍
Aw man. Coil overs are gonna completely change that car!!
I hope so. I primarily need to get the front end under control. The old blown out struts aren’t doing me any favors.
The summit ls cranks are rebranded K1 cranks????
Yes. Rods too. Pistons are made by Wiesco
I use Hastings Race Engines for all my machine work. But that’s not gone help you much since they are in Shelbyville. 😵💫
Yea that’s ways away. Lol
Them outer bolts on the main caps is 15mm not 14. Im sure you meant 15 tho.The only oddball size is the rod caps being a 11mm.
Yea I misspoke and didn’t catch it until it was already uploaded and it was too late to fix it. 🤦🏼♂️
or get longer bolts and spacers for your stand
Stupid question but whats a DOD failure? I'm sorry
I explained that in the video brother.
Displacement on demand...
Lifters crap out.
Do you build to sale?
No sir. The purpose of this channel is to show others how to do swaps, turbos, nitrous, etc themselves.
@@BadLuckGarage you’ve done a hell of a good job Sir.
Bro you have 666 views! Thats so f#$%ing metal!!!
LMFAO!🤣🤣🤣
Factory Gen IV DOD oil pump are high pressures….? Just learned something great. Correction* High volume (not high pressure)
Not high pressure, high volume. They used a higher volume pump to support the dod system. But using it in a not dod setup usually results in better oil pressure as well. Or at least it always has for me. I haven't bought one of these pumps in a couple years but they used to be fairly cheap as well.
@@BadLuckGarage understood
@@Camaro-1969 Engine masters just did an episode on 3 stock pumps. Good to watch.
So do u just get a dod pump and be good on a tt ? Not too much oil for them
@@chipturd55 You’re only picking up around 5-10psi max with the DOD pump. It shouldn’t be enough to push out out the turbo BUT all turbochargers are different so you may need just a little restriction. I had to run 2.5mm restrictors on my gtx3582s to keep them from weeping oil even with the non-dod pump.
But..but the internet ans RUclips says don't worry about bearings..it ran at some point in it's life it'll run just fine. Just add a bigger pump out of a caterpillar d12 and it'll be fine🤣🤣🤣 Psshh you don't have to worry about it being hit head on into a telephone pole🤣🤣🤣
Oh yea never look at the bearings . Cam ,springs and send it . Got 1800 miles and a hundred hits or so on my current junk yard dog .sees 28 psi weekly
It seems like every generation that comes “new” just adds more crap in the way to accomplish what you need to get done
What’s the saying? 10lbs of s**t in a 5lb bag?🤣
250K engine failed @ 100K repaired. Failed again @ 250k guy didn't want to pay $3,400 to repaire a second time
