    My '08 Suburban 5.3 is sitting in the driveway again, DOD failure. I "sprung" the lifter, tuned out AFM/DOD, blocked oil to towers and got two years out of it. Then merging onto I40 from Lovell (here in Knox) had a semi not lane change, had a choice, brake or hit it. Decided to save the brakes and run ahead, bad idea, 4100 rpm, bang that was it. Same lifter dropped again. Sprung lifter again, failed on start up. Time to just do a full AFM delete, do it right. Appreciate the video and also looking for a good shop here in Knoxville.

    Don't take it to B&R on Chapman hwy, They had my stuff for 4 months , after the first 2 months they kept saying "next week" another 2 months later I picked it up. I'll check with the guys at the shop for the machine guy they use, he's very quick. You are more than welcome to stop by anytime at the Rotec bldg. on Middlebrook at Ed Shouse. We could pick your brain on a twin turbo Sqaure body C-10 build.

      @@mikeday852 Thanks brother. What all did they do for that? I’m hoping that was for a lot more than I want done. I’m just wanting it tanked, decked, honed, and cam bearings installed. But if it comes down to it I can do the hone and bearings myself. I just want it clean and make sure I’ve got a good sealing surface for the heads.

      Is that the one off edgemoore rd? We took a set of heads there a couple years ago when we built the DR Novas engine. Maybe they were having an off day or had a worker that just didnt give a shit or something but I wasn't very impressed with the way they gave them back....especially for the price they charged just to resurface them. They could have at least tried to blow some of the debri off or even just turned them over and dumped it out for $140. It just felt sloppy to me to hand someone back their heads with an inch of metal shavings still in them. Thats just not the attention to detail I'm looking for if I'm about to stick several thousands into an engine build brother. But i do appreciate the recommendation sir!👍

      I recommend calling someone like BTR, answering all thier questions about your individual build and your expectations for it, and letting them recommend the cam that’s right for you specifically.

    Hi guys, I've used aluminum foil where your drip pan doesn't go quite right then divert the oil to where it needs to go.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад +3

      Great idea brother. I think I’m actually gonna cut an old funnel in half and pop rivet it to the drip pan right there for a more permanent solution.

    Factory Gen IV DOD oil pump are high pressures….? Just learned something great. Correction* High volume (not high pressure)

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Год назад +2

      Not high pressure, high volume. They used a higher volume pump to support the dod system. But using it in a not dod setup usually results in better oil pressure as well. Or at least it always has for me. I haven't bought one of these pumps in a couple years but they used to be fairly cheap as well.

      @@chipturd55 You’re only picking up around 5-10psi max with the DOD pump. It shouldn’t be enough to push out out the turbo BUT all turbochargers are different so you may need just a little restriction. I had to run 2.5mm restrictors on my gtx3582s to keep them from weeping oil even with the non-dod pump.
