I thought our ancient washer was done for today... I pulled the lid switch and it literally dissolved in my hands. The beast lives on! Thanks for the great video.

Thank you so much sir!! My machine wasn’t draining and spinning. My repair guy told me the fault was in drain pump and quoted me $250 to replace that. Then my quest to change the drain pump started since I found one for $27 on Amazon. That’s when I went suspicious of my repair guy and stumbled upon this video after watching the other video of yours ‘ how to replace drain pump’. After watching this video, I thought what if the fault is in lid switch and to my surprise it was indeed faulty. I replaced the switch by myself and want to thank you for saving me $1300 since I was thinking of buying a new machine instead of getting it repaired

What was your washer doing? I’m trying to figure out if mine is a lid switch or timer. Figured I’d start with the cheaper of the two. But curious since you specifically said the two parts I have narrowed my problem to.

Thank You for the video! I am the very definition of un-handy & I was able to fix it myself after watching the video.

Even though there were a couple of differences between this and what I have, it made the process a lot simpler.

Excellent! My Whirlpool washer had the two console screws on the front but everything else was similar.

There is a steel plate all the way up back of machine and 2 nuts I undid but top with controls will not slide a little forward and bend back! There are not screws?
    What do I do?

    7:30 hardest part by far.
    How should back look?

Seeing what you are doing is important in assuring everything is taken apart and goes back the way it should. That being said, I think the only thing not really shown was putting the cabinet back into place after having fastened the switch to the cabinet; (7:15) There is mention of aligning the lip but visuals would have been nice. Otherwise, great video!

It's pointless to say whirlpool washer without the model, they are not all the same.
