Thank you for continuing with the flysky protocol. You are the only one who presents it well and consistently. For us budget flyers the fs stuff is great! I can't wait for your tiny whoop build too. I want to make one.
Just as I'm converting all my toys over to taranis X4RSB's, now you show a nice product to use my old transmitter. The FlySky isn't a bad transmitter but at least now I have options. Great work!!!
Love your videos I look forward to watching them everyday when I come home from work. Keep the content coming. One day when I go to Australia we gotta fly or if you come to New York.
I've been using one of these in my brushed micro and absolutely love it! Great little receiver! The furthest fence at the field where I fly is around 250m away and I have no problems with browning outs etc.
Jake Boyle having a brown out is completely different than losing rssi, browning out is when your power supply goes below the minimum voltage threshold the receiver can operate at. So Its highly unlikely you will get a brownout unless your power supply from your FC or Ubec is inadequate. so let's not mistaken "brown outs for "Rc link/rssi" "please" will confuse the new people in the hobby. Best Regards Farmer
Thanks for the correction Farmer. I am relatively new to the hobby. Did you stop and take the time to correct Stewart as well? He used the term "brown out" multiple times throughout the video. Just for clarity too (for all the newbz) you don't actually loose RSSI. You can not lose the indicator you can only lose the signal. If signal is lost the indicator will still be present, it will just read a very low number.
Jake Boyle no I didn't hear Stew say it or missed it . Must be his Aussie accent or I was just to focused on the video lol Anyway a brownout is when your voltage drops below the minimum that the receiver can operate on that's when you lose RC link, you can spread the word now 🤑
my fs-a8s just arrived yesterday from banggood, i'm going to put it on my qx95, because if i had bought the flysky version of the qx95 i couldn't have failsafe, ibus and great range.
hey stu, nice review there. thks to u, i also bought the turnigy evo and am awaiting for my a8s to arrive. So if I hear ya out correctly, you can bind from the turnigy evo tx to multiple rx a8s; even 'flying' 3 quads at the same time. What if there are other pilots using the a8s? Will that mess up since the binding is like kinda 'not unique'....? lost...X-X
Nice review except you left out one of the most important questions Does it have a failsafe ? Yes I know I can look it up but a feature like that should be covered in a review
Thanks!! Always awesome videos!! Within a month we will be buying 25-35 Evo's and I have the FS-A8S soon for testing before we order. Will, lets say, ten people with that same TX and this RX be able to fly at the same time???
I recently bought a Furby dark Max that you recommended. And seconds in to the maiden flight esc burned out on it. I went up 15 feet it was hovering and it burst in to flames on a 4s. I turned it off it straight back down on the battery perfectly flat shearing off both bolts in the camera. And cracked the frame on both the drop the upper body bolts in a very week point in a frame you said couldn't be breaken easy. My problem is I can't get a hold of Gearbest to save my life. To do anything aside buy more stuff. You also tell how easy they were to deal with when stuff like this happened in another video. Them being ban good and grearbest. So maybe you a link or email to the person you deal with. Cuz there no happy flying for me with no drone. Cuz theres no way I'm spending 40 on the frame 26 on a camera and 36 on the esc on 150 drone. I had a similar experience when you recommended the eachine lizard to me. It's never flown Still. bangood And couldn't ahold of them either. They finaly got a hold of me when I let a negative comment. They settled gave me 50$ I thought I was getting a flight controller and $50 turned out it didn't matter to them. All I had wanted was my 110$ back. I got 50$. How do you get such good products and services and I get exact opposite? I do like your videos just wish your recommendations we're the same quality product when they arrived to my house. I'm 5 for 5 from 3 venders of bad recommendations from you. I have closeto 1000 in this Hobby between batteries and goggles and drones. You'd think I'd a race drone fly. This has went from somthing loved to do. To something thats gave me so much failure. I have 15 batterys not one drone that works. My hubsans still work. But there Not the same. So please help me. Just on darkmax
if you have a frsky xm you should compare them both! Also Stu you should give some hq 4x4x3 props a try on that 150mm with 5s (if it can), so much fun! I find 5s with 4" builds is just insane fun
Thanks for the great video. I tried to bind one of these little things to my turnigy evo and i thought it hadn't bound but watching your video i realize it probably had! What happens if you get more than one pilot using the FS-A8S?
Stu I just won a king Kong 95gt mini race quad and it has this same rx but I would like to know how to Bind It to my older turnigy i6 tx.. Can you help? I'm new to this sort thing.. TiA
Hey hey loving the channel what small receiver would you use in a normal size quad if you didnt have much room but still wanted a good distance (5incher) keep up the great vids :)
Hey Stu I was wondering if you seen the xm+ receiver from frsky it is smaller than this receiver and has diversity antenna it also does rssi and is supposed to be a full range receiver like the xsr or x4r sb I just ordered one from Getfpv for 12 bucks so I'll see how it goes anyway love watching your videos I appreciate that you give your honest opinion whether good or bad I saw your review on the Gt2 and caved in on my quadiction and bought one hopefully It will be here soon
Great Video Stu love your work, just a quick question to anyone able to answer totally off topic but what is a reliable 4s battery you have experience with im in the middle of my first build reside in aus and my head is spinning. cheers
Whats stopping you from using all the board components for a three inch quad on a five inch? Aside from the esc's, are the other things able to handle it?
Ay Stu, I got into FPV from watching UAV futures youtube ! Thanks for this review as I just purchased my first controller, a turnigy I6S that came with two rx's. Due to restraints at present no quad for me yet just sim's for now. So I did wonder about range on this rx. Also just wondered if that brushless tiny whoop is the eachine aurora? Are you doing any reviews of it? Thanks man keep doing what you do with UAV Futures it's very informative and fun!
Stu, is your FS-A8S a V2? There's a big thread on rcgroups with FlySky tech involved where is seems like most folks using these have been having lots of problems, brownouts, not holding settings etc. and FlySky agrees. Even the V2 didn't seem to solve some of them. Mounting position seems to be critical to avoid RF interference, unlike the bulletproof Spektrum Sats or Lemons. I think everyone is wanting these little guys for smaller RX's for the cool Evo radio.
Good to hear no issues. I'll get one and try it out. Did you get it from BG? Want to make sure I'm getting a V2. This is the rcgroups threads discussing the problems: goo.gl/83WpWR
I'm just starting out so I may be making some dumb choices. I got the TBS Tango (which has been fabulous!) and I wanted to try to get it to be compatible with the Taranis radio (I'm not sure why). So I got a FrSky XJT module and a FrSky D4R-2 receiver for the Wizard I ordered. I also got a NewBeeDrone Acro Whoop with the FrSky option. I don't have the module and transmitters yet, but I'm wondering if I'm going the wrong way with all of this. Your thoughts?
That little receiver alone makes want to get an evolution radio for a small micro brushless quad back pack setup super light and small for when I don't want to bring the big boys out 😎 is that brushless whoop the Aurora from Banggood? if not it's the same quad also that gt150 where can I purchase that or the next micro brushless you were just flying you have a link? to all 3 those micro brushless quads I need one ASAP get on it lol I'm JK but please link me Stew! 🤑 awesome review and video as always lad!!
Can't argue with you on that, the price and form factor is very tempting, but after having a million frsky receivers I can't imagine switching over sadly. I'm a thumbs flyer and the evolution looks pretty comfortable for my style of flying ! Arrg!
Hey UAVFutures, thx for this video! I like your tutorials too!! I hope i can find some help here... sry for my english, i just want to ask you and the other one here in the comments, if its possible to connect an turnigy on/off switch receiver to this FS A8S receiver to control leds on the radio. i dont have any of these material but i am about to order everything to build my quad, thats why i am interested to know if that is possible. i dont see any channel pins on the FS A8S like on the FS i6B but maybe there are solder possibilities and i cant find any pictures on the internet. Tank you very much for your time! Happy Flying
Is this the comparable rx to the XM or XM+? At 20 x 14, it's very close to the 21 x 12 of my XM+. Not sure if the plastic case is easier to two-side tape than a heat-shrunk XM. They're the same price too.
good videos i have a? i can bind this to mutiple tx (tgy-i;,fs-i6;eachine-i6)and just grab any one when i want to fly the one model with this rx or just one will work once bound to tx.
Does it work with the turnigy i6s. It's basically the same as the evolution, just has a different shape. Should I use ibus instead of sbus for the i6s?
Hi stew how do I set up this receiver to my sp racing f3 board also I just ordered my turning evolution mode 2 in black yesterday from hobby king for $63AU including shipping I'm so excited if you could help me with this I would be over the moon mate my face book page is fpv up it's the one with the race drone on the hard wood table look forward to hearing from you soon
Do you need to do anything special to set the eachine wizard x220 up with ibus or is it as easy as plugging in your rx and setting your wizard to s or i bus in beta flight? ive been told many things like you have to move where the wires are soldered to on the fc on that you can't do it at all. it would really help if you had or knew of a video on how to set it up. thanks for your time.
Stu, have you seen the new Frsky micro full range rx? Same ranges as a Xsr and D4r just tiny, smaller than that and great video and keep up the great work!
I got mine hooked up turns out I was over complicating it but it was easy now just to wait for my Vtx and ESC's to arrive then it will be time to buy a battery a controller and Fpv goggles
Hi...I'm pretty new to the FPV and I got this receiver and a FUS spartan toothpick The FC board only says SBUS. Can I just wire this receiver to SBUS on the board and choose SBUS on my Flysky i6 transmiiter? Will that work?
The stock FlySky FS-i6 transmitter can't be set for S-bus output - only PWM, PPM and i-bus. If your Flight Control board only accepts S-bus you may be out of luck. If you have the FlySky FS-i6S or FS-i6X you can select S-bus on them.
@@theoztreecrasher2647 The FS A8S can switch between ibus and sbus by holding the bind button down for 2 seconds. I am using it soldered to sbus on my Fus spartan.
@@KaizerTest So even though the FS-i6 radio can't be set for S-bus you can still get S-bus out of the FS-A8S receiver because it has a selectable I-bus to S-bus converter on board the receiver? So you would enable the i-bus output on your FS-i6 Tx and select the S-bus Rx output via the Rx push-button? Or maybe even the Tx just sends PWM/PPM and the Rx allows i-bus/S-bus selection? Have to do some testing - Thanks!
The Lightning Stalker from what I understand, the key is to make sure it supports AFHDS 2A. Some older Flysky only support AFHDS. Those won't work with the evo.
I just got a Turnigy 9x for christmas. Gonna do some simulation flying for a bit until I get my paypal balance down from buying a 3d printer. This is my next hobby.
Requires at least 4v input and the micro quad I have will not do ibus on anything but the 3.3v output so...... There is another one that is even smaller that doesu se 3.3v but it looks like it has terrible range. The antenna doesn't even have the exposed part... like in those toy quads.
NEB FPV looks like I need to rewire. Maybe my control issues will go away. It is sometimes laggy and I'm on PPM. He did say he would do a video on ibus vs ppm later.
Because FlySky made iBus to work with their equipment. it is 100% equal to the S Bus protocol you are not losing anything by running iBus so why not use it?
hi rc flyer I am helping my friend set up a tarot 130 x he has no receiver or radio I have been looking at the flysky radio and this receiver in the video .does anybody know if the receiver comes with the plug and play cables to go in to the flight controller cc3d I think ?is the flysky ok quality especially for beginner ?I found the radio on getfpv but I cant find the receiver in the usathank you
is it just me or can you not get the failsafe to work?

Shame that this receiver does not have telemetry :-( I have this RX on my micro brushed quad and if I crash in grass I have a problem :-) FC dos not support buzzer.
Hey Stew? Are you having throttle sticking issues over 50% throttle?? A large amount of the community is having issues with this Receiver & throttle sticking for about half a second to a whole second!... which makes this receiver dangers!... If you or someone you know is having this issue & are interested in more detail, go to RCGroups look up the receiver name for the post!... I ended up replacing mine with the original one that comes with the evolution do to it being unsafe!..
David Hannigan Jr. The one that he called brushles tiny whoop is actually an AXC Halo. They are great quality 90mm frames. The propeller guards are made of carbon fiber. Google search AXC Halo.
Albert Kim I just got the AXC Halo frame. The Eachine Aurora looks pretty much identical. The easiest way to tell is the mounting hardware on the hoops. The aluminum piece between the hoops on the Halo has two mounting bolts securing the hoop to the aluminum mount. I haven't seen the Aurora in person but I'm sure it's pretty well built. As TheSavage4400 said the Halo has an excellent fit and finish.
Lots of people are saying that this model has a lot of issues though. Lots of drops and weird issues caused by inadequate shielding. Check this forum www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help
I've been using 1 of these for a while in my qx95 but surely theres a massive issue!?!?! If more then 1 of you is using these then don't you all connect to all of them as there not uniquely matched
This receiver has ISSUES. There are some batches of which has had RF interference problems that will cause it to cut out. Which will jam your RC inputs as it resets itself. The early batches also won't keep the Sbus setting. This has all been confirmed by the Flysky rep on RCGroups, and an adhoc fix has been devised, but be wary when you first use it. If it's not a V2 version it might be dodgy; www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help

Love your videos I look forward to watching them everyday when I come home from work. Keep the content coming. One day when I go to Australia we gotta fly or if you come to New York.
Just started using em Stu, and they are fantastic, no range problems.

a nice option for the Evo, I especially like the easy binding 👍👍
Thanks for the great video. I tried to bind one of these little things to my turnigy evo and i thought it hadn't bound but watching your video i realize it probably had! What happens if you get more than one pilot using the FS-A8S?
FrSky's new XM+ is a great micro option for FrSky users as well :)
Have you gotten any X6B receivers yet? I'd say that they are the best of the best for FlySky / Turnigy TX's
Stu I just won a king Kong 95gt mini race quad and it has this same rx but I would like to know how to Bind It to my older turnigy i6 tx.. Can you help? I'm new to this sort thing.. TiA
NY PLATFORM has em on ebay. bought two asap. running one on my r5x and I've had no failsafe as of yet.
might stick one in my new build
Hi Stu
I just wanted to say thanks for your 99 dollar build, it's the best instructional video out there Rich
Hey hey loving the channel what small receiver would you use in a normal size quad if you didnt have much room but still wanted a good distance (5incher) keep up the great vids :)
The radiolink R6DSM is also good, for those with that system.
Just bought 4 of them, perfect for all my frames. Superb. Thanks. :)
Hey Stu I was wondering if you seen the xm+ receiver from frsky it is smaller than this receiver and has diversity antenna it also does rssi and is supposed to be a full range receiver like the xsr or x4r sb I just ordered one from Getfpv for 12 bucks so I'll see how it goes anyway love watching your videos I appreciate that you give your honest opinion whether good or bad I saw your review on the Gt2 and caved in on my quadiction and bought one hopefully It will be here soon
are you ever going to make a review for gt2 150. would love to see that
Great Video Stu love your work, just a quick question to anyone able to answer totally off topic but what is a reliable 4s battery you have experience with im in the middle of my first build reside in aus and my head is spinning.
Thanks man keep doing what you do with UAV Futures it's very informative and fun!
thanks mate. not sure about the i6s, Ill have a review of that brushless tiny whoop soon, stay tuned ; )
My question so if I have 3 others already bound to the transmitter on the same model it won't mess the previous bound recievers
Stu, is your FS-A8S a V2? There's a big thread on rcgroups with FlySky tech involved where is seems like most folks using these have been having lots of problems, brownouts, not holding settings etc. and FlySky agrees. I think everyone is wanting these little guys for smaller RX's for the cool Evo radio.
Myself and trev have had zero issues and these are in a few of our builds
cybervid07 when he flips it over, it has a big v2 sticker.
Your thoughts?
does it have failsafe?
I have been having issues with the clip on antenna...
If I can't manage to make the thing stick and I'm tempted to just solder the thing on.
Curious if you still think this receiver is good?
That little receiver alone makes want to get an evolution radio for a small micro brushless quad back pack setup super light and small for when I don't want to bring the big boys out 😎 is that brushless whoop the Aurora from Banggood? if not it's the same quad also that gt150 where can I purchase that or the next micro brushless you were just flying you have a link? to all 3 those micro brushless quads I need one ASAP get on it lol I'm JK but please link me Stew! 🤑 awesome review and video as always lad!!
Farmer Fpv have you seen the frsky xm? it's just as small
Adam Komarek not a fan of frsky radios I'm a spektrum flyer it's the compactness of the turnigy evolution radio that I'm after and it's price.
I hope i can find some help here... sry for my english, i

Man, you just read my mind , was about to search for this on the webs haha
Thanks!

Can the evo connect to most flysky recievers?
hello uavfutures, i love your videos. what is the name of tiny whoop shaped brshless drone and component of it?
Did you have to modify the cable to work with the gt 150?
Is it compatible with the FrSky DHT 8CH Module?
Hi stew how do I set up this receiver to my sp racing f3 board also I just ordered my turning evolution mode 2 in black yesterday from hobby king for $63AU including shipping I'm so excited if you could help me with this I would be over the moon mate my face book page is fpv up it's the one with the race drone on the hard wood table look forward to hearing from you soon
Hey Stew, where did you get your Work Surface with the grid?
Cool, glad there's a tiny receiver that works with my evo.
Cool Little Quad! Awesome Flying Skills!! what is I-Bus and S-Bus you refer to a lot? Know Clue what they are?
the way the receiver talks to the quad
Hi stu, what did you do to mount the single diversity pigtail from the receiver? Did you just have it hanging out?
I want to use it on 1s battery drone, it says 4volts minimum so it will stop working when battery reach 4 volts and it will drain it very fast?
Do you need to do anything special to set the eachine wizard x220 up with ibus or is it as easy as plugging in your rx and setting your wizard to s or i bus in beta flight? ive been told many things like you have to move where the wires are soldered to on the fc on that you can't do it at all. it would really help if you had or knew of a video on how to set it up. thanks for your time.
Hi I am going to buy the eachine wizard x220 w/ the EV800 goggles but i want some better antennas which one should i buy and which connector?
so can we put it in a bigger quad like an eachine wizard?
Stu, have you seen the new Frsky micro full range rx? Same ranges as a Xsr and D4r just tiny, smaller than that and great video and keep up the great work!
Which receiver is that Cooper?
Can I bind this receiver to a frsky 9x plus tx. if not can you suggest a rx to put on a spcmaker 90x fpv quadcopter that will bind to frsky tx.
I got mine hooked up turns out I was over complicating it but it was easy now just to wait for my Vtx and ESC's to arrive then it will be time to buy a battery a controller and Fpv goggles
The frame with the steel flip cage where do u got it from pls and thanks
What is the dimensions of the field that you fly in? (roughly)
Cheers!!
Hi stew I've gathered up just over 400nz dollars could you think of a cool build for a beginner using the yep hawk frame??
Gep
How can you put it on a Pico X F3 flight controller? Thanks
Did he have Failsafe ore better say did it work?
So glad you made this video!
Wind Chimes in the background gets a thumbs up
Will this work with a RadioLink AT9?
I having to hold the bind button down on my receiver every time i power up what am i doing wrong?
Does this work on a 5 inch?
Does this receiver work on a 5 inch?
does it bind with turning tgy9x ?
can you bind this to a tgy ia10 tx?
Can this receiver work with the flysky FS-i6 radio?
yes
Spektrum satellite ftw!!!!!!!!
It's mixed luck getting the Turnigy hardware talking with FlySky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The Lightning Stalker from what I understand, the key is to make sure it supports AFHDS 2A. Some older Flysky only support AFHDS. Those won't work with the evo.
Hey dude! I didn't know you were into this hobby! #LPF
Yeah it's Fiddy's fault. I saw one of his flight videos and had to try it. Now I'm hooked.
I just got a Turnigy 9x for christmas. Gonna do some simulation flying for a bit until I get my paypal balance down from buying a 3d printer. This is my next hobby.
'these flies are killing me'
-Every Australian right now
Requires at least 4v input and the micro quad I have will not do ibus on anything but the 3.3v output so......
There is another one that is even smaller that doesu se 3.3v but it looks like it has terrible range. The antenna doesn't even have the exposed part... like in those toy quads.
brushless tiny whoop pleaase.... asap!
why should I use i bus and not s bus on the turnigy?
Interested in that myself.
NEB FPV looks like I need to rewire. Maybe my control issues will go away. It is sometimes laggy and I'm on PPM. He did say he would do a video on ibus vs ppm later.
NEB FPV oscarliang.com/pwm-ppm-sbus-dsm2-dsmx-sumd-difference/ ibus is flysky's protocol, so it should work better than the generic ppm.
Because FlySky made iBus to work with their equipment. it is 100% equal to the S Bus protocol you are not losing anything by running iBus so why not use it?
hi rc flyer I am helping my friend set up a tarot 130 x he has no receiver or radio I have been looking at the flysky radio and this receiver in the video .does anybody know if the receiver comes with the plug and play cables to go in to the flight controller cc3d I think ?is the flysky ok quality especially for beginner ?I found the radio on getfpv but I cant find the receiver in the usathank you
does it have a rssi pad you can connect to run on the osd? i noticed the 3v pad is that the rssi pad?
It might be. I will check with a multimeter.
Just checked with my multimeter and it outputs a consistent 3.3v all the time.
Albert Kim what about the umarked one next to it?
Ayyyy, fresh cut
wow ive never seen a black XT plug before..
is it just me or can you not get the failsafe to work?
Shame that this receiver does not have telemetry :-( I have this RX on my micro brushed quad and if I crash in grass I have a problem :-) FC dos not support buzzer.
Hey Stew?
Are you having throttle sticking issues over 50% throttle?? A large amount of the community is having issues with this Receiver & throttle sticking for about half a second to a whole second!... which makes this receiver dangers!... If you or someone you know is having this issue & are interested in more detail, go to RCGroups look up the receiver name for the post!...
I ended up replacing mine with the original one that comes with the evolution do to it being unsafe!..
no issues for me yet
what's the brushless tiny whoop?
David Hannigan Jr. The one that he called brushles tiny whoop is actually an AXC Halo. They are great quality 90mm frames. The propeller guards are made of carbon fiber. Google search AXC Halo.
David Hannigan Jr. Upon further inspection I see that his is a Banggood knock off of the AXC Halo.
How can you tell the difference?
Bore Hog thanks
Albert Kim I just got the AXC Halo frame. The Eachine Aurora looks pretty much identical. The easiest way to tell is the mounting hardware on the hoops. The aluminum piece between the hoops on the Halo has two mounting bolts securing the hoop to the aluminum mount. I haven't seen the Aurora in person but I'm sure it's pretty well built. As TheSavage4400 said the Halo has an excellent fit and finish.
niiiiice. love IT
idea go back over all that up to what you have ?
nicekle size
I am so lost in this I will have to research some more I guess
one diversity antenna. An Oxymoron indeed :-)
NICE!! God Bless!! :D
Lots of people are saying that this model has a lot of issues though. Lots of drops and weird issues caused by inadequate shielding. Check this forum www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help
new haircut?👌👌
I've been using 1 of these for a while in my qx95 but surely theres a massive issue!?!?! If more then 1 of you is using these then don't you all connect to all of them as there not uniquely matched
radiolink r6dsm!
No sleep for stewart
This receiver has ISSUES. There are some batches of which has had RF interference problems that will cause it to cut out. Which will jam your RC inputs as it resets itself. The early batches also won't keep the Sbus setting. This has all been confirmed by the Flysky rep on RCGroups, and an adhoc fix has been devised, but be wary when you first use it. If it's not a V2 version it might be dodgy; www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2792377-FS-A8S-help
