    Nice review. Not much of a range test but I guess you couldn't risk a failsafe beyond the park. I see why you love that little quad, it flies great!

  • @sptrader6316
    @sptrader6316 7 лет назад +1

    Great setup and test for failsafe working or not.. My ibus receiver worked like your example, my ppm receiver didn't.. I'll never use ppm again on any long range quad ...I always thought that the failsafe feature was solely dependent on the flight controller, not the receiver.... great to know....Ibus rules !

  • @john1945xxxxxx
    @john1945xxxxxx 8 лет назад

    Nothing like a actual live test to ensure it actually, fer shure, works as expected. Better than seeing your quad disappear over the horizon and wondering why. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. You do a great job, kiddo.

    Hi Albert I have a Evo radio and love it. Looking for the smallest Rx and the FS-A8S fits the bill but did notice on HK "The FS-A8S is built for use in multi-rotor drones and is a 1-way receiver (no telemetry)"

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, it's one way but the only one this small. It's been working great for me. I have like 20 of these small receivers in various builds now.

    • @Clif_Brown
      @Clif_Brown 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks. Now if they could just stuff telemetry in that little Rx it would be perfect!

  • @scottfirman

    Yeah,not sure how they could add telemetry into something that small so that should have been obvious. I dont know the cost of it. I bought a bunch of the micro lemon receivers a year or so ago. They work as well as expected too and the price made it worth buying them. Some guys really dont get that you are not going to fly FPV beyond what your viewer transmitter and receiver is capable of so really range means nothing unless you like wondering where your mini quad went after your goggles went blank. Nothing disappointing about that. You did a good job presenting this and honestly,what more could you expect.

    • @jasoncross6151
      @jasoncross6151 7 лет назад

      Thanks Albert, good advise on the manual and pressing the button for 2 seconds to change from iBus to sBus, all works fine however when I cut power and reconnect I have to always press the bind button for 2 seconds on the receiver for it to respond??

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад

      Hmmm, that's a new one I haven't seen before... you might want to completely reset the model and rebind in the correct output mode and see if that fixes it.

    The (very old) Flysky FS-A6 RX behaves the same way: No binding confirmation, no telemetry, no RX based failsafe. Not a big problem IMHO as you always setup FC based failsafe anyways. Plus the standard telemetry from the FS-IA6B only show the stabilized 5V supply voltage .. so really not that useful. The FS-A6 doesn't do PPM though and is about 3 times the size :-)

    8:36 with the music put a smile on my face. Nice touch, Albert. I'll have to look at the specs. I have iA6c on myx220. Now, I happen to have one of these A8s' lying around and with a Gt2 200 on the way i', not sure I should use it permanently. What flysky rx would you recommend on the gt2 200? I'm not interested in telemetry.

    Hey Albert, is this plug and play on the GTR90. I just got my GTR today and the connector is 4 pin but only has the 3 wires. I assume white is the signal. I am running a Qx7 with a multi-protocol module. thanks very much, always watch your videos and have learned a lot!

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  6 лет назад +1

      No, it's not PNP. You need to use UART6 instead if you use IBUS. If you use SBUS, it might work, but I've never tried it.

    So I got a couple of these RX's to try and I am having latency that I didn't have before using the stock RX. I maybe missing something in my setup but wondered if you have flown the stock RX the Evolution comes with vs the micro RX? Just wondering if it's just me...Love your videos. I too ditched the Taranis for the Evolution, since I only fly Multirotors I love it!

    cool quad i just got an irange ir6x tx 10ch from bg looks like it came with the same rx rebranded clone dirt cheap. nice tx you have i did want that one but still learning my i6 having too much junk already was going to upgrade the firmware my tgy-i6 but dont want to screw it up.after 2 1/2 months my eachine v-tail finally came after changing the settings in cleanflight via seby`s video it flys well enough.i definately want to install this very small rx in my mini tricopter so far have only set up pwm so must learn this ppm ibus sbus keeps the wires minimal.as always good informative video.still much to learn.will this be good install on tricopter with an atom cc3d fc?

    I have the turnigy evolution, and FS82. When I bind the blue light on the rx goes from fast flashing blue to slow flash, and when I back out of binding screen the receiver light goes solid blue. Turn everything off and on, the rx blue light responds to the transmitter being turned on, but there is no output on the drone. When it starts up it beeps to signify calibrating the throttle limit, but fails to find the other side of the limit, as if there's no signal being transmitted. Any ideas?

  • @TheMadmacs
    @TheMadmacs 8 лет назад

    great, i've been wanting to buy some of these but was worried about the failsafe, so it seems that the FC takes over failsafe duties? i've never used that option window to set failsafe before, i usually just select the drop option and set up my tx to failsafe...hopefully e can sort out the rssi... and on the cc3d too

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  8 лет назад

      The receiver does go into failsafe but I wanted to make sure it disarmed for sure so I set it up this way. It probably works the normal way as well but because of the strange binding I just wanted to be sure.

    Hi Albert. Thanks for your tips. Unfortunately I’m having a”bad Rx” showing on my osd warnings. And my brand new babyhawk r won’t arm. It shows the input when I move my sticks so I’m bound but something is not right in my set up. I’m kind of new at this and don’t have all the answers. I’m running this receiver and set it upon ibus.
    Need some help. I know it’s a simple fix. I’m just not able to get going :(
    Maybe I can record a vid and post it on my channel. You can see my screens on Betaflight. Will that be helpful?

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  6 лет назад +1

      First read this page and see if it helps you... after that you should have more information about why it won't arm. Without that information I don't know where to start to help - github.com/betaflight/betaflight/wiki/Arming-Sequence-&-Safety

    • @fpvdreams8190
      @fpvdreams8190 6 лет назад

      Albert Kim thank you. Like I said before it’s saying “ Bad RX “
      In the github there is an explanation
      Saying receiver recover from failsafe and to turn arm switch off.
      What does this mean for me to do. How do I do that ?
      Can you walk me through it ?
      Thank you.
      I also just posted a video on my channel showing my set up with Betaflight. It would be much appreciated if you can help me figure this out.

    Can this receiver be used without a flight controller? I have a skid type rover build with two ESC's and use mixing with a FS-i6 radio with a FS-iA6B receiver to run it. The two ESC servo leads plug into channel 1&2 of the iA6B receiver. Could this be accomplished using the FS-A8S? I see how it connects using a flight controller via IBUS but not sure how else it would work. I like the tiny size of it and would work better with my build.

    • @AlbertKimTV

      So this is a super complicated question and difficult to answer here. You can switch the receiver into PPM mode and use a PPM to PWM converter to do what you want. I have a video on how I used one of those converters with a crossfire receiver but it's the same concept... you can watch the video here... ruclips.net/video/TLCRTKxsnck/видео.html

      Your PDB 5v regulator is probably too weak. In a low voltage situation like a big punchout, its not supplying 5v to the receiver. This is probably what is going on.

    Did you have to make changes in that transmitter to connect to the reciever, I also have the turnigy but have never really used it for anything other than simulator. I'm semi new to all this and I'm having troubles binding recievers to the jumper t lite. I've tried xm+ and radiolink r12dsm. And I'm pretty frustrated up to this point haha. I'm thinking about trying the flysky receiver with the turnigy or I also have the flysky fs-i6 I I got with another drone I bought years ago. I did not put it on a 1S brushed. It was a 2S brushed. However, it was the same F3 board I run my 1S brushed on and it is powered by 5V on the UART. The board has a step-up/down regulator to provide 5v to the receiver.

    • @AlbertKimTV

    Hi Albert! One question, I want to connect this receiver to f3 osd of other video ( ruclips.net/video/jG2l4gbnr_E/видео.html ) I want to connect for ibus...where I should connect the receiver in fc?? io2? io2c (uart2)?? This receiver works with 5v and f3 too wright??

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад

      Use IO_2, serial-RX CH3 pin and 5V. Yes, it will work. Also, I believe that UART is UART3, not 2.

I conect the ground cable to fc ground or to pdb ground?? The osd information of flight controller is given for vin/vout pins directly to transmitter wright??

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад

      ground is the same everywhere. Just pick something on the FC, it should be fine. VIN is from the camera, and VOUT goes to the VTX.

    Albert Kim, Is there a Tiny Whoop that someone that has built that is compatible with the Turnigy Evolution? (Meaning the tiny whoop accepts the AFHDS 2A Protocol) Maybe someone has stepped up voltage to use this receiver?? Anyone mounted a Eachine AIOF3_Brushed flight controller/reciever to a tiny whoop? I'm not aware of any. Also, that AIO board is much too large for a Tiny Whoop frame. Hopefully, they will come up with a V2 version of the BeeCore F3 that will work with the 2A protocol soon.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  8 лет назад

      It's the native digital protocol that Flysky developed and not a copy of SBUS which is found in Futaba and Frysky. There is less jitter in the signal. I'll have a video later showing the differences.
