    I have watched countless binding videos over the 12 years I have been quilting to try to find a better way to have my binding look clean and neat/perfect - YOUR video tutorial is by far the best I have ever watched! I am so thankful to have found someone that doesn’t think that only a 2.25” or 2.50” wide binding is the only way to go. You make a wide/chunky binding look so beautiful - it truly frames the quilt! I always put a border on my quilt, and in doing so, it will allow me to use a wider binding. I can’t thank you enough! Your videoing skills (clarity-good angles for me to see exactly what you are doing), and your clear verbal instructions to go with the video are excellent! I am about to bind a baby quilt I made for someone, and I will be using your method exactly as you have demonstrated in this video. I can’t wait to try it! Thank you again! You are an excellent quilter/seamstress!!!

    Great video. I'm a very nervous sewer, (if I can even call myself a sewer, lol). I haven't made anything but curtains. Trying to keep my sewing straight was my biggest problem. I recently made my youngest grandchild a fleece blanket with 4 inch satin binding. The fleece pattern was not double sided so I had to sew a back and a front. Watching your video with the change of different foots and several tape placements sure helped convince me I don't have to "white knuckle" my future projects. I want to make actual quilts for all my grandkids. I've also watched many binding videos in the last month and I kept asking myself why is the binding so narrow? I decided I don't like narrow bindings. Not knowing anything and never having sewn a binding I now know my project could have gone very wrong. It ended up pretty good for a first timer. I was so proud. I even used a zip zag stitch in a contrasting thread color!!😮 My Brother brand sewing machine has been used about 5x in 20 yrs. I need to look into that little bag (never opened) that has some tiny tools and a few more foots and read up on how I can use them to be more confident with the next project. I'm gonna be cutting 5 inch strips for all my bindings and using your measurement. That binding size is perfect for my taste. As you said in this video - binding is the icing on the cake. I'm gonna have so much fun with patterns and colors. My only question is do have to cut on the diagonal? I have no problem having to use more material. I'd really like to know if and why it's necessary. Thank you!!

    • @tanyabarner9297
      @tanyabarner9297 3 месяца назад +1

      Cutting on a diagonal is used if you are doing something that is round. It makes it stretchy so if it is square or rectangular cut like you normally would.

    I needed a 2" chunky binding and used your tutorial to successfully do it by following your instructions. Easy peasy! Easiest binding I ever attached. It lays flat, the corners were so easy to turn and miter, and I even hand stitched the binding down which I NEVER do. LOL! It took a lot of fabric but that particular piece sat around in my sewing room for many many years without a use. I was very happy with the whole process. I appreciate your willingness to go beyond the norm and mention you made a 2" binding. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Regarding the glue... great idea. I have done the normal 2.5" double fold binding on baby quilts and what I used instead when the binding did not want to stay in place is 1/4 inch fusible web. Some people don't like using glue because it can gum up their needle so this could be alternative.
