Happy Friday...what a week. There are lot of ways to make binding. But before I talk about them, we need to know the basics. If you haven't made yourself a 3-in-1 tool yet, you'll save yourself a lot of headache if you do. Enjoy.

Lol I get so stressed and my neck disappears, I've been clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth...and I laugh and grab a tea, take a break and a breath, and remind myself that it's my first quilt for one of our kiddos! They love it already and it'll be warm usable and washable lol !

What is a quilter's knot? How do I sew the binding down on the back? Do I just sew along the edge (parallel to the edge) or should I sew X's, or perpendicular? What keeps the binding down the best?

Just made mine. Looking forward to using it. Your video made so much sense. I especially like the reason for not pressing your binding in half. I have done that and wondered why I struggled so. I have been quilting for 26years. Love your tips and your channel. Thanks Karen

I wanted you to know that this is the ONLY video I could wrap my brain around. I have tried and tried to learn this method, but I don't see things the way others do. It always looks backwards to me. So, tonight, I stopped and worked frame-by-frame and it WORKED. OMG I am beyond relieved. I'm working on a special gift and just had to have it perfect. THANK YOU from the bottom of my still learning heart.

Thank you for this video! I love the first option where you tucked the tail in to the starting piece. I have been struggling with the fiddly way and get a knot in my stomach every time I have to cut the binding lol. I am a new pandemic quilter and have learned everything from RUclips and generous teachers like you. You have made it possible for me to turn isolation into beauty and creativity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

When my quilt group started up 20 years ago...we would cut the binding into 4 .... do the top, do the bottom..square up and cut off extra...then do the other 2 sides....crazy! Now we all do the continuous mitre, but we sew the binding on the back first....turn over,...and machine stitch it down from the FRONT...

I could do a paragraph of "thank you!" and it wouldn't be enough. I've been struggling with a binding, even though I've made many. Sometimes a youtuber will tell you the "right" way to do something and you want to do it right, but it just isn't right for you. (And this quilt has had something wrong at every step!). You have fixed that. Don't iron it in half. Ok...no more doing that! And sometimes bindings are narrower. Thank you. So I'm not wrong in wanting a narrow binding. I will find my ruler to fold my corners a little more pointed. I got dinged on my corners at the last quilt show I entered. They were right and I should have seen it. So thank you and have a great weekend.

Thank you for this video! No one ever explained how important that 1/4 inch in the corners is when you are attaching the binding. Made a world of difference😍

That was so clear to understand! I have a binding tool that came free with a magazine, but the instructions were awful. Now I understand, I was nearly there! Thank you!

Thank you! I’ll make a 3in1 tool. The corners often give me a fit. I enjoy the hand-sewing, especially on a cool evening.
