Basics get forgotten by us i think. I got humbled by a 5 or 6 year old at a stock lake this spring lol. I went there with a slip float set up, box of jigs, trout magnets, jars of eggs, spinners, spoons and so on, absolutely armed to the teeth with 2 rods rigged. Got one right away, little girl next to me was using the eagle claw round bobbers and a hook. She'd walk around and pick up little brown/black crickets, put it on her hook, cast out and just about every cast she'd catch something, either a gill or a trout. She walked closer to me and said "try the crickets, thats what they eat when nobody is here" 😂😂😂. Humble pied, shown up, out fished, out performed, schooled and utterly owned by a 1st grader with a Disney princess push button combo. Ill never forget it lol. Nor will i be ignoring the crickets ever again.
Yeah I agree. I consider myself a good angler, started my oldest daughter fishing two years ago when she was five. My father ( who has fished his whole life), daughter, and I headed out for her first trip and she lands a 19 1/2 inch trout for her first fish.
Sometimes we forget the old school basics getting wrapped up in equipment and technique, I had a similar experience but it was a really old black dude with a bamboo pole.
Not stupid at all. I have a habit of casting into snag areas repeatedly, and losing more than one lure in that spot. Why? Because i have the dum 😂😂😂. As long as you're nlt doing what i do, you wont look stupid. Good luck!
No not stupid evryones learns at a difrent level the fact that you're taking the time to read and educate yourself about a subject that's new to you for youre kid moms like you are awesome thank you. 👍
I grew up in a household with just my mother and never had anyone show and teach me these things. I’m in my late 40s now and just getting in to fishing and well articulated videos like this one are priceless. Any basics on how to set up , what times to fish, how to retrieve, must have gear etc..and learn anything from the basics is much needed and appreciated. Thank you 🐟
I've been fishing my whole life and I still watched this whole thing just because you're so freaking nice. I'd let you teach me shit I already know all day lol
I fell in love with fishing doing it with my dad when I was little. I never got invited to become a fisherman, and now, at 61, I'm going to be a fisherman. So, for me, the level of detail is crucial. I don't know what anything is called, don't know number-sizes, don't even know what to fish for in my region yet. But I'm getting there, and this video was BOSS. The detail, the presentation, excellent detail, quick, smooth delivery. Loved it.
I used to fish in lakes all the time as a kid, have it done it for about 30 years, now my son wants to learn and these are great refreshers, man I wish this was around in the early 90's. Great stuff, keep it up.
Coming from a guy who lived in Cali his whole life, had no clue about lake fishing, watching ur video was a blessing, keep up the great videos, ADDICTED FISHING #1
I had no idea what a swivel or a leader line was until I went to fish camp and had professionals sit me down and explain this stuff to me. It really makes a difference.
This was fantastic. I wish someone would’ve taught me this 40 years ago. Thank you for educating, entertaining, and inspiring us. You’re nailing your mission statement
Love these how to videos. I'll be 65 years old is September and I've been drowning bait for years. Decided it was time to take some lessons from people who knew what they were doing and maybe get a little bit better return on my bait dollar. Far too many nightcrawlers have made the ultimate sacrifice with nothing to show on my end. I've been fishing for years I figure it's time I learned how to do a little bit of catching. My dad was in the Air Force so he never really had a chance to teach me how to fish. So now I found some surrogate dads who can teach me a thing or two
Wow! Great information, I went fishing with my dad as a kid, but he wasn’t about teaching nor having a conversation, I believe fishing allowed him to escape the craziness that life can be and find a moment of peace. Nevertheless, I am grateful that he wanted me to accompany him, and I learned what I could by observing. Now that I am married with children It’s time to fish with the ones I love, while building relationships and to finally learn about these beautiful concepts in fishing. So, thank you for your tutorial and I look forward to learning more and fishing a 💯 % more🙏🏾🎣.
I haven't fished in years. What I have learned wasn't much since watching your videos. Thanks for all the knowledge you share bro. My twins are 3 years old and we are going camping and I've been preparing for a couple of weeks on tips so my kids can have the best experience possible. If one kid catches one,it will make my day. This is one tradition I would like to start with my kids. Thanks again for kicking some knowledge man.
First off I'd like to thank you guys for such a fun and educational channel. When I was growing up I absolutely loved to fish and really enjoyed our family camping trips because I could always plan on a nearby body of water in which to go fishing. I also had a natural talent. I could pick those Perfect spots and it's been said that all I had to do is get my line wet and I had a fish on. My specialty were sm/med trout. Well, fast forward several years and I'm trying to get back into the game. Unfortunately I've seemed to have lost my touch. I can't catch a trout to save my life and what I do catch are small bass that are well below our area's limit of 12". I want to get back into catching trout and want to land some nice sized ones. I'd also really like to get into catfish fishing. I have used all three of the setups here though I haven't really gotten into different line types. I've just used whatever is on the rod and reel set that I get at the store. I have yet to have any luck even in places where other anglers have said that there is good trout fishing and used all their tips. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And again thanks for all you guys do. I've already learned so much but ams still missing that special something to help me actually land that trout I'm chasing.
I’ve never been fishing before. Next week I’m taking my 5 year old daughter out on a camping/off roading/fishing trip and we’re going to give fishing a try for the first time together. Definitely a special trip for me. These videos are giving me some confidence with the fishing part. Thanks.
Brah! Thanks for a nice video, especially for not cussing and just being clear and professional! I do different kinds of fishing but I just love getting back to basics and just doing some bobber fishing! Nothing like sitting at a quiet little lake watching the bobber! And as soon as it goes down, it’s super satisfying!
Used to go fishing with my father in florida, he never showed me how to do things… here I am, almost 40 and finally learning. Great content, great channel, subscribed!
Hey my brother I want to thank you for your videos I haven't fished in probably 28 years. I did some bass fishing back in North Carolina when I was stationed there and even afterwards with a buddy of mine and I did catch some bass but even that I was a novice and even now I'm a novice! Thank goodness I have a friend of mine now who is shown me an egg. Onesie. Some other stuff he makes it look so damn easy LOL! The good thing is is I'm getting the fever again and I haven't caught anything but a small Bass in a month but I'm going out this Sunday where the guy that catches his limit of trout every time he goes that he guarantees me some fish so I'm pretty pumped! But your videos I really helpful and I thank you for taking your time to do this for us novice fisherman! My buddy just hooked up a barrel wait at the top with two swivels so it slides okay I don't know what I'm talking about but hopefully this rig will work and I will let you know and if I do catch a trout I don't know how to send it to you but I hope I have some success this weekend! Where fishing at a place called Estacada Lake here in Oregon so we'll see what happens thank you for all your instructions it's awesome! By the way I have a power light Eagle Claw im7 graphite 4 to 10 pound 7 foot rod with a addl de2000 521 reel. Curious what you think of my setup. Take care thank again!
This is perfect, just got my license yesterday! The sliding weight and colored bead always works well for us in deep lakes. This season I'm going to be honing my fly rod skills. Ya'll interested in doing a fly fishing vid?
I started out yrs ago fishing spinning reel with a clear bobber to a fly. Fun top water action when fished where river comes into a pool or reservoir. Just another way to fish. Thanks for the tackle info. Always enjoy your videos.
This is what exactly I was looking for. Compared to many people on RUclips trying to show us how to fish, but they suck at explaining. Great job and would love to see a Freshwater fishing Playlist. Again, amazing explanation. Will try it soon.
I'm late to the party. But I'd like to commend you for your ability to explain things. They stocked my local pond with trout recently and I'm trying to teach a buddy how to trout fish. I had a very hard time explaining why I like to use a Carolina rig. You not only show how, you explain why, and the why is far more important. Bravo and thank you sir.
Thanks for the video, I'm a hunter and not a fisherman, but my son loves to fish and we're going to try trout for the first time. This is exactly what we needed!
This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you!! A really basic start to finish. I get lost in the terminology and massive assortments of tackle, so this was super helpful. Thanks again!
I like how you went step by step with the set up of the poles. I’m a beginner fisherman and I can use all the help I can get. It’s so hard to find videos that go step by step and with explaining why you did what you did. So cool. Thanks for that. Now if you could make a video on how to use the bates and lures that come in the beginners kit that you can get from Walmart and explain the lures in them and what they catch. How to use them best rigs for them. That would be great and I’ll get you more subscribers to watch those videos and the rest of your stuff. Thank you again for the videos there a big help for us beginners
Going trout fishing with my son this weekend in North Vancouver, BC, Canada and your video sure helps as I have no clue what I'm doing - well, I have an idea of what I need to do now thanks to you!
I used the first rig and was successful in about 10 minutes. Amazing after months of just fishing the way I thought it was done vs. what you've shown here. Stocked Rainbows were smashed and fish tacos were had. Thanks for the rig breakdown. I've watched many hours of Addicted Fishing on days when it's raining or I can't go out. Keep it up guys, love it.
Thanks for the video. Went fishing out in June Lake a couple of weeks ago for the first time...spent most of the time trying to tie my hook to the line. I've been watching a lot of "how to" for beginners and i think this is one of the better videos. Can't wait to get out there and fish! Thank you!
I had 5 minutes to kill, thought I’d watch the beginning of this and see if I liked it. Well, ended up watching the whole vid. Very informative and entertaining. Nice job, new sub here 👍
Thanks a lot for these videos. My father was an avid fisherman but wasn't a very good teacher. He got very frustrated with us and it usually resulted in him yelling at us. I'm 60 years old now and retired and want to do this successfully. I've been out twice so far and all I've felt is stupid. I now have better idea of what to do and more importantly why. Thumbs up!
Super grateful for this video man. Seriously helped me out. This was exactly what I was looking for and talking about when i NEEDED a buddy to help me out with setting up
I’m new to your channel also new to trout fishing. I fished for flounder and sturgeon decades ago in California. I really like your videos because you articulate well and go step by step. I’ve learned a ton by watching a few and can’t wait to give it a try new Olympia. Thanks for teaching this old dog new tricks.
Thank you for the level of detail you provide in this video. I am trying to learn how to fish, and am looking forward to the day I catch my first Trout. I've tried fishing three times, twice in a river and once in a small lake, but did not catch anything. After watching your video, I feel more confident about setting up my rod/reel, and choosing the right fishing line, weights, lures/hooks/bobbers. Getting my fishing gear ready for a camping trip this month, and look forward to trying out your technique for catching Trout. Thanks again for the tips/tricks.
Great vid. Classic black and gold Panther Martin. Theres many colors that work great, but thats the killer color combo for sure. Used it in size 5 today to catch cutties on the upper alsea. Its awesome that you guys are putting out this info for beginners to know how to get out and start catching fish rite away!
Really appreciate this video! I'm an old guy. Never fished much when younger, but want to spend a lot of time fishing now...really appreciate how you took the time to do the set-ups...will help a lot when I hit the water. Thanks again...subscribed, bookmarked your website, and will be looking to your videos and site first when I need to understand ANYTHING about fishin'! All the best!
Thanks mate used ur advice on setup a-b first time trout fishing I've been out 6 times and caught 3 browns around 13inch I'm in New Zealand great video
What I always do when spooling braid is I like to put the white tag from the new spool of line onto the reel after tying it. It sticks good and has a good texture for the line to bite and not slip. I’ve also used a small piece of electrical tape too.
Yea this was perfect for me "Newbie" wanting to trout fish with vintage Shakespeare rods & reels I'll be rewatching a few time to make sure I get it right.
thank you for the pre view on the different set ups. my family and I are just starting to fish and this helps a ton. I appreciate the info on the different types of set ups for trout fishing.
This is very informative for a beginner angler like myself. Looking forward to go trout fishing for first time myself and you just earned a subscriber. Thank you sir.

I just learned by catching no fish at all and trying new stuff😂

Thanks to this video I caught my first ever brown trout with bottom fishing set-up. I really appreciate the effort you spend teaching with these vids.
Best fishing instructional videos: Addicted Fishing. Jordan is smart and fluent, and squeezes a lot of practical info into his videos.
Jordan is the best fishing coach there is!
*Does 20 cranks* “anddd 50 againnn” lol great video love the info
As a new fisherman, I took alot away from this. I have a much better idea of how to set up now. Well done and thank you!
for someone who's brand new to fishing this is so good and clear of how to set up. thanks you

I used the first rig and was successful in about 10 minutes. Amazing after months of just fishing the way I thought it was done vs. what you've shown here. Nice video. Was just talking to my sons friend and trying to explain how I set up for trout off the bottom. You explained it perfectly. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Went fishing out in June Lake a couple of weeks ago for the first time...spent most of the time trying to tie my hook to the line. I've been watching a lot of "how to" for beginners and i think this is one of the better videos. Can't wait to get out there and fish!

Thumbs up!
Thanks for sharing those awesome tips, I really like the bobber tip with the 3 wraps bottom AND TOP. Very smart.
Great video. No hype just down to earth and refreshing. Thanks from a retired beginner.
Well done for someone getting back into fishing. Very informative.
Super grateful for this video man. Seriously helped me out. This was exactly what I was looking for and talking about when i NEEDED a buddy to help me out with setting up
I love the start to finish method. Very informative videos, easy to follow. Thank you

Great tutorial. I've just gotten back into trout fishing and this really helps alot. Looking forward to viewing more. Thanks again.

Thank you for this very informative video!! Love the idea of using a swivel with a clasp in order to quickly change out leader line + bait.
What I always do when spooling braid is I like to put the white tag from the new spool of line onto the reel after tying it. It sticks good and has a good texture for the line to bite and not slip. I’ve also used a small piece of electrical tape too.
Perfect channel for beginners like me. Can't Wait to go out there and catch these fish. Thank you
