I am having a BYD petrol car for 4 years now, and it has been without any issue. They make solid cars. I am waiting for their electric cars to launch here.
@@VerticalFreedom WTF yes they do, they are a relatively old EV automaker scaling up in the early 2000s started with compact Petrol cars. Then they moved onto PHEV with Petrol Engines and only started BEV production with the e6 in 2009. They still sell Petrol engine PHEVs.
We also ordered a few weeks ago and went for our test drive today. They told us cars arrive mid-late September. However, the person I have been dealing with (at Andrew Simms in Newmarket) said delivery might be earlier than that.
I live in Costa Rica, Central America and they've just recently arrived here, I'm going to check out the nearest showroom on Thursday and I'm excited to see what it looks like and what the wait times etcétera are.
Will definitely go to see the seal (atto 4?) in person once demos are available in the showroom in Australia, specially the dual motor performance version.
It's actually not an entry level vehicle it's almost top specification with the equivalent Yuan Plus in China which includes auto parking, 15.6 infotainment screen and optional Continental brand wider tyres. It also has a few more cameras and sensor on the Yuan Plus in China that's not on the Australian and NZ Atto 3.
It's an Australian specification vehicle all the Atto 3s that arrived in Auckland were loaded onto the Don Juan in NSW. The Don Juan left Japan and sailed directly to NSW with no stops along the way. Australian and NZ atto 3 specifications are identical, the only difference is the price and the warranties offered between the 2 countries and perhaps isofix locations.
The NZ units are here under an ECE (European) compliance standard. BYD Auto NZ assures me they did not get loaded in Australia. Our understanding is the front airbag deactivation switch would not pass ADR anyway.
@@EVsBeyond follow the ship route buddy it doesn't lie and probably why you were given these test vehicles because of our stringent compliance rules and regulations and the reason why we are all waiting longer for our Atto 3 to arrive because of our ADRs not being met.

the app allows you to operate the car even half way accross the world. i don't bother with bluetooth. you can use the nfc function of your phone to lock and unlock the car, just tap on the driver side rear mirror.
Re charge port beside drivers side door. Are there 2 ports, one type 2 for charge and 1 standard 10 amp port for V2L and if yes, can they both be plugged in at once?
New Zealand takes select international vehicle standards, while Australia requires their own. Our cars are certified to ECE - the European standard. The cars were already certified to that.

Singapore has excellent public transport though and compared to other cars, relatively cheap. Singapore doesn't want to support too many privately owned cars.
Looking at a BYD for our next family car if and when they start importing to Europe. Not expecting this to be for a couple of years at least though but by 2025 can’t wait to see what they’ll be like by then. By the looks of the Atto 3 they should have some seriously good cars available by then.
Actually that does happen, I frequently forget that I have my charging cable still attached when overnight charging at home. I haven't tried it for this model, but every EV I've driven, does not allow you to drive away with the charging cable attached, whether it's charging or not. I'd expect it to be the same for BYD. They're a pretty mature EV company.
The car's name in China is "Yuan", which means to commemorate China's Yuan Dynasty. It is only the smallest car in BYD's "Dynasty" series. The best selling cars in China are "Song" and "Tang". If you can see these two cars with your own eyes, you will definitely think that other brands of cars are the same. Like the mobile phone 20 years ago, it has no value in existence. Because BYD's sales in China hit 130,000 cars a month.
20 demos are here now. Another large shipment arriving end of July. But they will take time to process. I suspect Ateco has watched the fun in Australia and is underpromising to overdeliver.

Need a suction cup for your camera like pretty much every other EV RUclipsr uses from Bjorn to Kris to Chris to Andy to Kyle, etc, etc. Wonder what the differences in NZ to AU specs are then.
I'm swapping my Chinese brand Linglong Atlas tyres over as soon as my Atto 3 arrives to Continental Eco contact 6 tyres which are specifically designed for Evs a slightly better tyre at handling than the Michilen equivalent and not as expensive. The safety technology on both the Australian and NZ vehicles are identical as well as wheel and tyre size. Apparently NZ will get heated front seats, but the rumour mill in Australia is saying we will too. Personally I'm not fussed either way, none of my previous cars have had heated seats and our winters in SA are not as cold as other parts of Australia, we don't get snow in the suburbs.
I hope they keep the infotainment screen as an Android tablet as they used to be. This way will the most useful infotainment screen in all cars Also Regenerative break should turn on break lights in every EV because it's a safety matter
Our specification is the same as the top specification in China. There is still a gap, but not as big as people think by the time you include shipping, etc.
IMHO, it'd probably be better if they replaced the rear marquage with "Bring Your Dollars". Being straight-forward gives an honest, no-B$hitting image, which could help for a début.
We understand it has been tested for Euro-NCAP but a result has not been released yet. ANCAP will likely be based off that test, unless they crash one in Australia - which is rare these days.
Remains unclear. Best to talk about that with BYD Australia. The presence of front seat isofix suggests NZ and Aus may be getting differently specified cars.
I am Chinese. BYD has invested and built a factory in our city, but it is too difficult to order a BYD Han now, and it takes a long time to wait.

There will be phone locking and unlocking but unclear if this will be an instant automated system like tesla, or a button push in an app.
BYD app can do it for you with all controls from the phone

It’s a ccs combo port. You’ll plug in a v2l adaptor like an Ioniq.

Can't be sure. But it is 10-15% more than claimed so perhaps the former?

In Singapore, the Atto 3 is on sale @ $178,888.00. Due to our silly taxes and COE. Nightmare for buyers in my tiny State country.
Yeah the E6 was also over $100k, but at least that one was popular with taxi companies so hopefully made back the cost in fuel savings.

I hope they keep the infotainment screen as an Android tablet as they used to be. This way will the most useful infotainment screen in all cars

Our specification is the same as the top specification in China. There is still a gap, but not as big as people think by the time you include shipping, etc.

IMHO, it'd probably be better if they replaced the rear marquage with "Bring Your Dollars". Being straight-forward gives an honest, no-B$hitting image, which could help for a début.

There is no internal power points (other than usb and 12v). The car will come with a V2L adaptor that plugs into the CCS2 port.

We understand it has been tested for Euro-NCAP but a result has not been released yet. ANCAP will likely be based off that test, unless they crash one in Australia - which is rare these days.

TBH I think the MG would be the better taxi. More upright in the rear making it feel more spacious, and the boot is far larger.
