Hey im the guy who got the tawa for 601 ,happy to buy them from Gary and fund him to keep doing what he does
Great on you Scott. I got mine from Gary as eggs in April. I just got 2 pairs shipped out to a gentleman in Honolulu. That should make 5 of us in the US who have them. My goal is to get this fish out to more people. Really happy for you to get the fish too 👌👌👌 from the age yours look just wait a month...month and a half and they'll know your socks off
$601?
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx Correct 😅
@@HoonAquatics For how many? I paid $30 for just a pair of young M.parva's..about the going rate for Rainbows. The only premium Rainbows I've seen were very small, M.parkinsoni's that were $30 each.
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx Parkinsoni and Parva are among the common rainbows commercially available. Not every store will have them but still widespread. Many of the newly discovered or rare rainbows go for very high amounts
Watching again after your video w/ Bentley Pascoe -- LOVE the stuff you do!
Really appreciate it! 🙏
I really enjoyed the tour of your fishroom! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Kelley! It was a big step to decide to sell a lot of my more common fish and focus on breeding rainbows this year. An ever evolving space but I'm sure it will look much more impressive once the bows mature a bit more
Nice!!!
Just found this and I am now the 300th subscriber
Awesome fish room gorgeous fish.🐟🌿👍😄
Much appreciated! Many of the fish are still young. Hopefully the best is yet to come 🙏
Nice fishroom. Love the rainbows.
Truly impressive Man... and I’m loving that subdued lighting... I can imagine that the fish love it, Im intrigued.
I like to think it helps make the fish feel more comfortable especially with very little cover in the bare tanks. I appreciate it
Wow awesome aquatic room with a nice aquascaping. thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I just rescaped a tank and hopefully will have a new video out soon
I joined your channel . Please join also in my channel.
Thanks for sharing, good job 😊
Thank you! Really appreciate it
Very nice collection of fish.
Thank you Todd
Nice
Excellent collection.😊
Thank you! Working on getting some other new species in
Nice fishroom! Nice rainbows!Just subscribed keep hem vids coming
Thanks! I appreciate it. Next video is coming out tomorrow but it wont have any footage of my fishroom! The video after that will check back in with my rainbows
Nice fishroom! Wish I had all the rainbow fish you have
I Appreciate that Game!
My kind-a fish room tour. Thanks for sharing. Nice to see those Klasio and Aves Creek locations doing well.
Thanks Dan! I appreciate you getting some wonderful species into the US
Red M.trifasciata - so amazing!!!
Great fishroom! I'm thinking of starting my first rainbowfish tank, looking forward to following the channel 👍
Thats awesome! Rainbowfish are an absolute joy for those who are patient enough to wait for their adult colors. Would be awesome to see how your tank comes along. What species are you thinking to stock it with?
@@HoonAquatics I'd start with common Melanotaenia types first before getting anything expensive. If the project comes together (more like find room for the tank) I'll have a build thread on the ACO forum
Excellent tour great rare cichilds u have gest job o yeah new subscriber!!! Yeah
Thank you! I appreciate it
Wow, awesome fish room, new sub here, thanks for sharing.
Very nice rainbow collection! So great to see people keeping and breeding the lesser known strains and species
I appreciate that. I made the switch to try to focus on breeding new or rarer strains to help distribute them. Many of the rainbows in New Guinea are becoming endangered or extinct due to pollution, mining or palm oil plants. 😔 But on a positive note, they're also a joy to watch 😁
@@HoonAquatics Yep I've been reading up on them a lot lately, hopefully we can get them into more hobbyists tanks and keep the genetics going. I'm growing out some M. parva right now, hope to get more species into the fishroom when I have space
@@alexcrowl maybe in the spring I can get you some new rainbows in your fish room 😉
@@HoonAquatics I will sell my car for those M. sp. Tawa
@@alexcrowl haha I have a good batch growing up right now. Hopefully with more people breeding them the price will go down a bit 😂
Nice setups. Ammania always starts great for me...then fades. No matter what. No more of that one. No Co2 I should add. Results with the magical gas might be different.
Rainbows are great fish..they satisfy that want of "Looking at a tropical stream filled with active, colorful, and peaceful fish". Better than any other.
You said it better than I could!
Hi, new sub. Great room! As far as what I would like from your fish room......Yup, I’ll take the M. Sp Tawah😁,
Cheers,
Chris
Haha you certainly can have some. I have some on Aquabid right now but you may not like the price lol
I fancy myself a breeder. That auction is for a collector. Collector=. Someone with a lot of money but probably not enough time/dedication to get the job done😉. Hope you get some out to some breeders. It would be a shame not to establish that fish.
Cheers,
Chris
Nice setup 👍✌
Thanks Alex!
@@HoonAquatics 👍
Really nice fish room! New sub. Looking forward for more content. Loving all the fishes too
I appreciate that Kenny. A lot of the rainbows are starting to color up even since the video. Can't wait to see how much they color up in the next 6 months!
Hoon Aquatics man that’s gonna be a site to see. I’m new to the hobby. Like 3 months new haha. I got a 29g with 10 tiger barbs and 6 panda corys.
@@kennythach8919 thats a great start Kenny!
Hoon Aquatics thanks bro. Really want to do a planted aquarium but don’t know how and where to begin.
@@kennythach8919 I suggest checking out @Bentley Pascoe and his channel. Great info from an 8 time Master Horticulturalist. There's many many ways to start a planted tank but its about finding balance between available nutrients, light and the amount of photosynthetic plant density. Fast growing stem plants use nutrients faster and more readily than something like anubias. There's so much info that you may need to know to find a balance. But Bentley already has a plethora of information posted!
We're gonna have to get together at some point and let me tour your stuff and chatter rainbows.
For sure! I look forward to that Bentley. I'm always down to talk rainbows
Nice selection of rainbows! Have you found or heard anything about the Kali Jamas Dan is importing?
Thanks Brian. My guess is Kali Jamas is likely an older species possibly from one of Heiko Bleher or Hans Evers expeditions. Many species that aren't very beautiful or look similar to others are sometimes lost to the hobby. I have not seen any articles about the river or inhabitants of Kali Jamas. We will have to see once Dan has pictures up
@@HoonAquatics yeah I couldn't find any reference to any collection point associated with Jamas, so we will just have to wait and see. Here's to hoping it's newer than others we have seen.
@@brianklimaszewski There is a place called Jamas, south of Jayapura. It's location is to the east of a river that I can't locate the name of. But looks like it drains into the Tami river.
Some of the species on Dan's list are older species that were lost/unpopular to the hobby like M. Irianjaya & Maylandi. But fingers crossed it's a new one for you
Looks like a Birds Head peninsula fish. Similar looking to Laticlavia is my best estimation of color
Okay thanks. I've decided to hold off for now. I'll stick with the classics like Alleni and Fredricki. Those trifasciata from Coen river and the Komeng river species are beautiful though too.
What's that fish at 14:57? Very nice grey fish with the purple fins.....what's that one called?
did you get from Dan's fish? He is suppose to get a new batch of fish this Friday!!
I picked up a couple species from Dan. But many of my fish come from Gary Lange himself! And yes I saw Dans list. I will surely pick up some species that undoubtly came from Johannes Graf's bloodlines. Great stuff
how about update on what they look like as adults now!!
How's the color on those boesemani rainbow from dan? I waa thinking about ordering a few from his website.
My Aves Creek Boesemani have been stunning with deep orange. Someone else who has some from the same batch are very pale yellow. Might be dietary.. so if you get some feed lots of krill or anything high in astaxanthin to bring out red/oranges. Baby brine also good to supplement at the size in the video. Boesemani grow very slow
@@HoonAquatics ok thank you... I appreciate the information
Can fry from 1 to 10 days old eat Infusoria? and how much is the loss rate of the fish to adulthood, thank you
Yes, infusoria, green water, powdered foods. Feed 3 to 6 times a day depending on your schedule. They should be large enough to eat baby brine shrimp around day 7 to 10.
GREAT looking FISHROOM. Fish look amazing. Nice work 💪👍
Appreciate that Rob93! It's been a fun project to get going
Hallo sir.
I come from Indonesia.
where do you get kali tawa fish like this.
I sell rainbow fish from Indonesia.
This is a fish from a farm, right, sir?
fish from papua i can't find it
What do you feed the Tawa ? Mine are finicky
I feed mine live baby brine, frozen brine, bloodworms, daphnia, cyclops and flake. I have found them to not eat in large proportions. So I have been feeding them in smaller quantities 2 or 3 times a day
Hoon Aquatics I can get them to eat some frozen but they love mosquito larvae the best. I’m going to start using live daphnia and eventually scuds as well.
Gary told me to use arctic copepods which I have ordered.
Nice fish room by the way. We should compare our collections. Maybe do some trading ? Have a good one
@@thequietearthgardens copepods are a great food too. And thank you. The fish room is a work in progress but starting to crank out some fry. I'm sure there aren't too many rainbows that aren't already in your collection haha. But feel free to shoot me an email at rleereamy@gmail.com if there's anything in particular you may want to trade.
Hoon Aquatics ok I will. Another one of my favorites is Melanotainea Kali Moysi
Are you selling and shipping any of the rainbows!!???
You probably won't like the price tag but I did list some Tawa on aquabid. I'm looking into the efficacy of shipping but even USPS overnight has not been good lately. What species are you interested in?
@@HoonAquatics I currently have goyder river, turquoise, bosemani and furcata that I'm breeding mostly just to have tons of rainbows...I love them , I want to acquire as many species as I can, rhads included!! If you are willing to sell and ship I'll get back to you on what species and we can work something out? I go on aquabid alot thats where I have gotten all my rainbows.... U have a unbelievable collection!!! I currently am in emergency mode because of hurricane sally and it's miracle I didn't lose any fish but power is still out....
@@thefishylife6823 shoot me an email at rleereamy@gmail.com and we can create a game plan once you have power again. I will have Burringbar rhads and a couple chilatherina species ready to go in 1 or 2 months
@@HoonAquatics hell yeah.... I'll be in touch soon!!! Keep breeding all those beautiful fish , lord knows that the hobby needs people like you
@@thefishylife6823 haha and you as well The Fishy Life 🤙
Are you in cali?
No I'm located in Washington. I might occasionally post some of the rarer fish on aquabid in the future.
Hi, will you be selling the Tawa soon? Or the pink/red lips fish soon?
I may have 1 group of Tawa for sale once I get more consistent egg production
Very nice fish room. But the lighting could be a little better. It was hard to see some of the fish.😔
Noted! I'll adjust it accordingly next time! Thanks for the heads up
Is there a species in particular you would like a closer look at? I am planning on doing some species profiles in the future
@@HoonAquatics Nothing in particular really. I just love looking at the fish! And also trying to learn the names. Latin isn't my forte'. LOL. But the blue rams are one that are exceptionally gorgeous. I just enjoy the watching.
@@cathyhendrix7552 Glad to hear! Yes the rams are have a soft spot in my heart. Trying to develop my own strain of them at the moment 🤞 fingers crossed
@@HoonAquatics Yes, I heard you say that you were crossing the German blue rams with the electric blue rams. I am excited to see how they turn out. Fingers crossed for you.
