  • It's been awhile and many changes have occurred in the fishroom over the past year. I am sad that I couldn't share the wonderful species that we recently moved on from, but hope you enjoy the fish we currently have. If you have any questions on any of the species in the video let me know if the comments. Some of the species in the fishroom include various rainbowfish, pseudomugil species, corydoras and plecos. Some of my favorite species in the fishroom include Chilatherina sp Upper Tor, Melanotaenia sp Kali Tawa and Hypancistrus L236 and L333.

      @@HoonAquatics I think you should do a video where you plant a giant box of plants I send you, hahahahaha!! 😆😆😆
      Otherwise, I think a video on the many moods of Chilatherinas would be awesome! They are the most color-changing fish. A color-changing video in general would be awesome. I don’t think people who’ve never kept rainbows realize how much they change color. I could send you footage, too. (Along with a giant box of plants.😉😉😉)

      @@kelleyforeman I would actually love to do a plant unboxing from you. I'd also love to see you make some videos on your plant knowledge! I'm ready to take notes and learn.
      I have thought about making shorts to post in Rainbowfish Live to show color differences in Male vs Female in different moods/setting. Male at rest (like the dullest colors they show), Male sparring vs other males and Males displaying for females. The more I watch the rainbows, the more I notice subtle differences in color or behavior depending on what they're doing. I'm also really curious to see how different rainbows look on white sand. This would all be a massive project, so we will see when and if that happens! haha

      Merry Christmas, Ryan!!

    Hey great to see you again! I wondered what happened to you, hoped you were OK.
    The Tawa look great now and those Chilatherina from Pagai village are colouring up beautifully. With the pandemic, I still don't have any rainbows but next year for sure. I'm particularly interested in Glossolepis. It's good to see someone breeding smaller plecos, a video on that would be fab. Anyway, enough rambling 😂

    • @HoonAquatics
      @HoonAquatics  2 года назад

      Great to hear from you again as well! Thank you for the kind words 🙂 Sometimes life gets in the way but I'm glad to be back. I dont have many glossolepis but I can always help recommend some sources! Id also be more than happy to get some rainbows out to you next year. As I get a bit more experienced with breeding plecos I'd differently want to film something on that! Thanks for the idea. I do much prefer the smaller plecos yes 😅 I don't think I could manage the big ones or want to handle them!

      I forgot to say, congratulations on becoming a Master Fish Breeder 🏆. I'm moving house early next year, so have cut down to three tanks and this has reminded me, I've got to test the water where I'm going to. Looking forwards to the next video 👍🏻😊

      Unfortunately no 😔 some fish that I had recently added and not quarantined started to show signs of mycobacterium. I decided to sanitize the tank to prevent further spread. It puts me at ease that I sanitize my hoses/python between each tank. So I don't think it has spread to other tanks. All in all, what a sucky experience. Glad I got a lot of those fish out already

    Nice collection of fish you still have! I sure wish I had me some Tawa. I'll have to get them soon because boy they look stunning. You should check out the L519. I love the group I have! I'm still debating if I should go down the L333 grade AA road or stick the my massive group of L134s

    Excelent video. Just a heads up...Snow in German is pronounced Schnay. It rhymes with hay. with floke you have to pronounce the e at the end. It should sound like the eh that Canadians end their sentences with. Good luck with that😀

      @@Cgraseck Can you use it in a sentence? LOL. Any hints on how to pronounce that one?

    • @Cgraseck
      @Cgraseck 2 года назад

      @@HoonAquatics I tried to spell it out phonetically. I think most Americans have trouble with the umlaut over the u, pronouncing the sharfes S as a B, pronouncing wasser with a "W" sound instead of a "V" sound, and pronouncing the tang as if it were the astronaut drink, instead of using a soft a sound. We should just use the transliteration and call it freshwater seaweed. As a science teacher, I think It's a super cool plant. If you don't already know, it is the prothallus of a fern that refuses to produce eggs and sperm (the job of a normal prothallus) Essentially, it never grows up into a fern. Instead it makes branches, which can break off and start a new plant. It is thought that all of it (globally) is just a bunch of clones from some original delinquent prothallus that refused to grow up.😀
      Cheers,
      Chris
