Mario doing what he always calls "post-stroke" Bette is uncanny.

I love your impression of Bette Davis. Baby Jane was different, but a wonderful performance by Bette. Anne Bancroft also deserved the Oscar for The Miracle Worker. Hard choice, but Bette was hurt and bitter that she lost and blamed it on Crawford.

Also the fact that Joan, her co star, accepted the Oscar on Anne’s behalf.

I saw him in Love Valour and Compassion on Broadway and he was great - I saw him in the street the day after but was too shy to say ‘Hello’

Bette Davis' performance was indeed Oscar worthy, but you can't deny Anne Bancroft the honor in _The Miracle Worker_ . It was just ill-timed and bad luck that1960 was such an exceptional year for leading ladies.

And to think that this dude is 65….
He doesn’t look 65 at all.
If anything I would have guessed mid to late 30’s or early 40’s at best.
Voice helps too, it sounds like a youthful 20 or 30 something (or even a teenager).

As someone noted - please get the title right - It’s What Ever Happened, not What Happened.

No woman at the time would even play a role like Bette did with every flaw and emotion pouring out of a Hollywood star and with such real contempt for another human being. Ann Bancroft was brilliant but other Hollywood stars would have done the same. I don't think anyone could of played Baby Jane as the incomparable Bette Davis

She was robbed, because and Bancroft’s victory wasn’t based on her talent, but on the voters being lobbied by Joan Crawford, and Hedda Hopper. Obviously, I never knew Ann Bancroft personally, but I would like to think she would’ve rather have won because she gave the best performance not because a malignant narcissist, and a gossip columnist rigging the vote with rumors and hearsay.

Every character in the picture is selfish and mean. Not one nice or kind person. Everybody is cutting a throat.

Anna Lee’s portrayal of the neighbor lady who brought flowers for Blanche was nice. The maid Elvira played by Maidie Norman was nice. So was the newspaper ad guy (former child star Bobs Watson) and the cops at the end.

You mean theres always that fat sister slouching around neighbor? Elvira has plans to move to the beach, get Blanch to pay for it and send Jane to the nut house. The news man can't be nice to, maybe you remember me. Look again, nasty and selfish everyone.@@Daisnap
