So after seeing how well my last Need for Speed Side by Side performed, I decided to do another one. This time I'm doing Need for Speed Carbon. I played this one a lot on my PS3 when it was first released. It's a great game, and there's a million copies, so I thought it would make a fantastic Side by Side. I hope you like it.

after carbon i stoped caring about nfs, previously thou i was really enthusiastic to play the new nfs especially most wanted, the only game i was most hyped about. and now after this vid i really feel like playn it again, prolly with the nissan 240 if you know what i mean.

I really liked Pro Street.
Played Undercover a lot, it was fine but I can't say it was great.
HP 2010 was the first game with the shitty driving physics, it was meh... SHIFT was ok, SHIFT 2 meh.
After that, it's just shit a dumb "long" race (The Run) with shooting SUVs which had no people inside.
MW2012 was pure shit, same goes for Rivals...
NFS2015 kicked in, still shitty... the customization is not even close to NFSU2 considering some cars had a very limited number of mods. the performance tuning thing was useless, Grip = understeer. Police chases are a joke. Some people may point the small map, but I'm ok with that one.
I expect the next NFS to be a little more fancy version of the 2015/16 one.
stilli think its good that they experiment with the franchise, this way they can be more aware of whats good and can hopefully 1 day make a masterpiece.

I recently got the Wii version at my local GoodWill for $3, and no matter what control setup I've tired I don't care for it what so ever, and wish they had included Wii classic controller support, and/or GameCube controller support, so I will be looking for the GameCube version since I don't own any Sony, or Microsoft consoles at present since I'm mostly a retro gamer along with Nintendo(handheld and console), and PC.

Gamecube impressively has to fit it into only 1.5GB of space. That's why the textures look BAAAD.

They cost 28$ to produce in the first two years after release, which lead to some games costing TWICE as much as the PS1 version!

The N64 only sold these units due to being Nintendo's first 3D capable console and people wanting to buy a console from a company they knew. (And Super Mario 64)
xXYannuschXx The N64 did not flop regardless of their issue with third party companies. The GameCube did. But now it's becoming more popular which is why the price of games are very high.

This game was actually pretty awesome on the Nintendo DS back then, it looked very good on the machine's display.
carbon on PC didn't allow widescreen because "it could give other people an advantage"

Really no wide screens back in 06, then explain how I had a 19in ACER 16:10 LCD monitor at 1440x900 60Hz with both DVI and VGA inputs, and I also had a 19in 720p 60Hz Polaroid HDTV with VGA, 1 HDMI, Composite, Component, RF, and 3.5mm(input and output), and had both of them hooked up to my PC on Windows XP before upgrading to Vista in early 07.

If you haven't updated your game version to the latest patch via sites like moddb, nfscars etc, the resolution will be strecthed to fit your monitor's native resolution, but it's not actually running at a 16:9 resolution.
+Revenor I will say nfs had 1920x1080 res. But it's stretched unless you apply a mod/patch.

They both render at 720p with an unlocked framerate. Sometimes they hit near-60 in the canyons and drift tracks.

ahh man i still have a lot of racing games on my ps2 my favourite is sonic riders and the one that i hated the most was sonic riders: zero gravity but i'm a nfs and i LOVED mw and carbon

Daniel Gómez wrong. It looked terrible on ps2. The 4 “best” looking games on the ps2 were output in 1080i. Gran turismo 4 and tourist trophy, jackass the game, etc

PLEASE do more of these side by side videos they are amazing. i love to see this stuff. so many older games got released for the xbox generation and xbox 360 generation during 2005 and 2006. it must have been insane porting a game 4 or 6 times!!! not forgetting the psp version

One of my all-time favorite games on PS3, right alongside Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2, Mercenaries 2, Just Cause 2, & Bioshock 1/2. Just one of those classic feel-good games you could spend hours upon hours in. We need either a remaster or a port for PlayStation Now 😭
When I saw "Escape from Cross", I was like "Oh fuck, Cross is back...."
this game made me realize how thankful i was for the premade vinyls in the previous games, while i always wanted to be able to move and resize them, turns out i'm actually not that creative when it comes to original designs 😂 i mostly just wanted to recreate my favorite cars. all of my best looking cars were made in prior games
The PS3 looks best to me even though I did not like about the auto safe feature and I do wish there was a mod where it could make the save menu integrity better but the game has the best graphics by far because they put more time into this and it is with the other games including the 360
I loved the canyon maps where you die. Also the story was good and the police were actually challenging unlike NFS 2015 which is just bad

Lol, your PC Version is not the original one. I know that you installed ThirteenAG Widescreen patch for 16:9 ratio but the original one is 4:3. Same for Most Wanted
I didn't install any widescreen patch, I did install a fixed exe to allow me to launch the game. But I wasn't playing Metal Gear on PC in widescreen.
this should be the reason why. Originally the game has a resolution of 1280x1024 as maximum. The exe which you used has a widescreen patch and why did you use a fixed exe. Are you using Windows 10?
Edit: Max resolution is 1600x1200.

No, Windows 10 just blocks the anti piracy software of Most Wanted and Carbon.

I play Need For Speed Carbon for Xbox 360 and wii the 1st time I ever played this game was 2018 and it was a blast but if anyone else has the collectors edition that even more fun than the Wii, Xbox, GameCube, PS2!😊

RookerVision - Gaming Videos I think you used it wrong. It should be easy. In the video, you were tilting it while the buttons was up, you are meant to tilt it while the buttons are facing towards you.

Just got Carbon for my PS3 today. I had it before on PS2, YEARS ago, now i have it for PS3
Can't believe you didn't point out the fact PS2 and PS3 got an exclusive visual light effect that is basically the same as midnight club 3 dub edition light trail effect, though not as unrealistic as midnight club's, but it's there. it's on the 360 but barely. I never noticed this since I don't look at that kind of detail but saw it on the PS2 and PS3 version I own randomly, then played PC and didn't see it, and I see the 360 didn't either, but seems xbox got a bit of it, but not as much and PS did. Just thought to point it out lol

this graphic was godlike when I was 18 and this is one of my favorite pc. I cant believe it looks like crap by today standard.
Times are changing, my friend. New consoles/PC hardware appear, and everyone is looking for a realistic game and, while ill admit that graphics are somewhat important, game devs should focus more on a fun gameplay.
I think they still look good on 7th gen consoles (and PC)
an edge it had over most wanted was when you hit a spike strip, unlike most wanted, how your car would just shut down, carbon actually allowed you to keep driving

I have the GameCube version, and don't regret buying it. It looks decent in Progressive Scan and Widescreen, and it is compatible with the Logitech Speed Force Steering Wheel.
Jesus christ, imagine the crunch the guys at Black Box had to go through to make in 1 year a completely new game and port it to f*cking 9 different consoles, and PC, and MacOS and make sure it played well in all of them, goddamn EA. I'm surprised they didn't demand a Dreamcast port too

xbox 360 looks better than ps3 version,but in vídeo looks worse because of Black level settings.i played both versions a lot
xbox 360 and ps3 graphics are same, sometimes ps3 is better and sometime 360 but its only 5% difference between them, so who cares. but xbox and ps2 i care.

Drag racing was in underground. So Most Wanted didn't replace drifting with drag racing, it simply removed it.
Carbon on Wii was a decent game. And the gameplay & controls were really good with the nunchuk

RookerVision - Gaming Videos oh! u must of not had tha settings cranked up all tha way because a card like a GTX 1080 could run Carbon on Ultra maxed out with no problem
I will say I set it up all the way, but would agree that when I hit submit I didnt notice any changes, and I doubled checked options, and they were set to high, so maybe I had a glitch
RookerVision - Gaming Videos pretty much a glitch and don't 4get most games from back when diz NFS came out was not really optimize 4 Windows 8 and 10 very well either! it's tha reason why i prefer 2 not use a Windows newer than 7
blakedmc1989RaveHD Optimisation is carried across each Windows generation. It is not set to a specific version. The only differences between Windows 10 and Windows 7-8 is mainly the API's available.

PS3 version is the best version of Carbon hands down. Don't get me wrong, I'm talking from a pure technical perspective (and without mods either, but that's a whole other story).
I know the ins and outs of this game and on PC they cheaped out on shaders (Pixel and vertex shader model 2.0, PS3 and 360 have 3.0). Not only that, movies on PC are on par with the OG Xbox video quality. On 360 they're wmv 720p videos which look pretty good, but PS3 has the highest quality videos (MPEG, 720p or maybe even higher).
I've hacked my fair share of this game that I can safely say that the PC version was botched sadly. There are hopes to get those shaders running in the PC version, but that's unlikely as of now since we do need source code for those shaders. Not only the shaders, but some textures as well. Console versions could be modded the same way like PC version, we just need to figure out the so-called Disculator filesystem so we can extract the data properly for modding.
