- Well, this episode was a wild ride. Someone asked me to do a Side by Side for Def Jam Fight for New York, and I had a funny idea to do it. No spoilers here though, you'll have to watch the video. I compare the Graphics, Frame Rate and some Making of content from the Playstation 2, Gamecube, XBOX and PSP versions of this epic Video Game. I hope you enjoy.

PS2 is 40fps majority of the time, GameCube has an inconsistent framerate, fluctuating between 60 and 30, while Xbox tries its hardest to maintain 60fps, where times it could drop lower in more demanding stages (Red Hook Tire and Powerplant to name some)

Nice. That 60fps on the xbox is a plus but, the lighting of the ps2 is locked in my nostalgia for this game. A true classic. I still got it too.
I never played the Xbox port the but the GameCube and PS2 ports I still have on me for almost 20 years

A friend of mine loves this game but only knew the ps2 version. Got him the xbox version of the game along with the console for his birthday and he couldn't look more happier. Thank you so much for the informative comparison, it looks very unique and high effort.

Nice comparison, but you left out one detail, the KO executions. Xbox and GameCube appear in red while PS2 doesn't. I've studied that feature for a VERY long time. ✌✌✌

so is that good or bad for the ps2 that they're not red? i'd imagine that would make it the most realistic that it doesn't change colors.

I agree. Sometimes games look better or work better on certain systems because developers put their priority on one system like Timesplitters 2 on PS2, and have to rush the port out for other systems like Xbox. So seeing these comparisons are nice to determine which one you prefer. For instance the GameCube was stronger than the PS2 but a lot of developers didn’t put in time to compression on the lower sized mini-discs . So it looks terrible sometimes, despite Resident Evil 4 showing it’s strengths. I’d like Timesplitters 3: Future Perfect in a newer video. Long story short. Rooker makes great vids and has objective fun without fanboying. Fun personality.

Nice video. I had this on Gamecube, really enjoyed playing it with the bros. I remember being confused since the manual said something about selecting your voice, but I only had one option. Graphics are definitely lacking compared to PS2, but I think having 60 FPS is a decent trade-off.
The GameCube version graphics were better than the ps2 Xbox had the best graphics tho
I really like your content so I don't want to come across as a hater, but the rhyming schtick was cool at first, but less than halfway through the video it became totally unbearable and I had to mute it to continue watching. Props for attempting to do new things tho, and I read you had fun doing this so I'm glad that was the case.

Its hard to say what version id go for, i like that the gamecube is a flat 60 fps, the fps on the other 2 although almost 60fps on xbox, is probably very distracting. Are the cube visuals that blurry ehen in motion? I feel that the game would just feel better at a constant 60fps
Gamecube version on nintendont should be 60fps all the time...

@@anthonyrizzo9043 Yes. If you play the GameCube version without Nintendont, the frame rate is the most unstable of the three versions.
I didn't capture the Frames, so I am not too sure how they were done

Looks like the Gamecube version prioritized the graphics while simultaneously taking away enough space for more people in the crowd, whereas the PS2 excelled in crowd space, lighting and graphics.
Xbox looks to have a bit more detail in lighting, but struggles to maintain balance with the exterior desgins.
Good stuff man, sucks this game was never on PC.

So what I'm hearing is the ps2's got this? Because I did get a PS2 console and currently I'm looking for this game the American version runs for like $150 to $200 on PS2 if not more and then the Xbox version you could find really cheap for like 30 bucks to 50 I don't know why the PS2 version is so much more expensive if anyone can explain
I played this at my neighbours house yonks ago, and loved it cause I could button mash and actually win. I don't remember what console it was on, but it wasn't as smooth looking as some of the images/videos out there now.
I didnt realize the GameCube was that strong with so little disc space. Thats self sabotage
i like to think that performance was helped by the fact that there were lesser assets and compressed textures that made it happen. but to be honest, idk. i think it would be an interesting experiment to sideload games onto the gamecube with all the assets and see what it can do lol

FYI the PSP HUD plugin does not show correct FPS if its running under firmware 6.60 & 6.61
( will always show 59-60. even under noticeable framedrop , it still show 59-60)
Even the Latest HUD plugin show incorrect for 6.60 &6.61
You have to downgrade to 6.39 or lower if you want the HUD plugin to work correctly
I own 3 PSP console and downgrade all to 6.39 firmware, cuz i want to see the correct FPS when i play. HUD v 2.75

Ps2 has better lighting & more crowd than gamecube ( storage problem, same as N64). Gamecube has higher fps. Xbox better than these two.

Its sad they used mini discs for the gamecube or it would have looked better console than xbox and ps2. Too much had to be compressed or left out.
No the disc space aside the other specs of GameCube is slightly stronger than the PS2 and the Xbox is more powerful than GameCube and the only other thing PS2 beats GameCube in other than the disc space is the fill rate from what I know but I do know if GameCube did have higher disc space Xbox would still be stronger.
Good video haha, never played the ps2 version but there all fuckin masterpieces. The only version I have left is the psp, still waiting on a remaster for this and the warriors lol.

Maybe it runs faster on emulators, but not on the console

This game has got open price like crazy I seen copies of this game go up for like $200 Especially The 1st game I think the nintendo game cube version is the most expensive one Going for a 140 And the only reason why this game has gone up in price is because of DMX Passing away
