What's the intro music?!
This was one of my favorite games back in the PS2/Xbox days. The demo alone on the NFSU2 disc I played for hours.
me too
Demo better then NFSU2.
And burnout 3 had a nfs ug2 demo
It was my fave game
You just tapped so far back into my childhood that I didn't even remember. Burnout 3 is one of my all time favorites. Probably only behind the OG MW2 for my total play time ever. But the first games my Dad bought me for my PS2 was Jak and Daxter and NFSU2... I can't believe I forgot the demo in NFS was where I discovered this gem. Talk about the golden age of gaming, bring back built in demos!
480P, 16:9 Widescreen, and 60fps is Playstation 2 masterclass.
You are exactly right my good sir
Yet he didn't capture any 16:9 footage.
I did. I just wasn't sure what it was suppose to look like. I used some screens online and matched them up. But I guess 16 9 was what I was suppose to do
@@RookerVision this game in particular exclusively uses the ps2 bios settings to determine its aspect ratio, so if you have your ps2 (or emulator) bios set to 16:9 it will run in widescreen, any other value is 4:3. it's easy to miss because the menus are stretched, only the gameplay is widescreen.

It's me Striker, on Crash FM.
Hes not a bad dj
And then got replaced in Paradise City
@@88ights yep, dj atomica sounded similar to striker
Atomica better
Atomica originated in SSX 3 as the dj for Radio Big
This was THE game that got played at my house for a long time. The graphics and soundtrack were amazing at the time.
Looks like a 360 game
They still are.
They are honestly still good today in my 11 year old mind, a kid who plays on his Xbox one but enjoys his PlayStation 3 better
I really enjoyed playing burnout takedown back in the day with my ps2 at first i was amazed how the cars crashed in that game and the graphics looked great for the time
Yeah. It was so cool.
Dude the vehicle damage is better than many games today
I wonder why the series got discontinued?

@@MySpaceDxC_Suffo_AtTheGates Cough. Cough. Beamng.drive Cough. Cough.
One small correction: The boost bar can only be extended via takedowns. All the rest will earn you boost, but they won't add to the bar.
in ps2 version the right analog stick is can be used to acelereation and brake
Man, I can't wait to get in my car and acelereate like crazy XD
dirpi yeah it makes driving a lot easier
But every ps2 game uses the right analog stick to accelerate and brake
@@santoscraft Try playing Ridge Racer 5... It doesn't and uses the analog controls for the x button, which makes it near impossible to play for more than 5 minutes, at least on not new controllers. When I play it I'm using a PS1 pad since the X button isn't analog there.
I just noticed this today
I remmeber playing this game as a demo on the disc of need for speed undergound I coudnt stop playing it that my uncle brought me the game I loved it ever since
Good ol times
That's a great uncle
Demo better then full Underground 2. There is U2 demo on burnout 3 disk, too. Cross-commercial.

welcome to racing in ps2 kid
i dont think he realize that PS2 didn't had pressure sensitivity on the shoulder buttons back then and only with those 4 ✕〇△□ had it, hence why devs made it like that.
Yasunaka Ikumi miss those day :(
@@yasunakaikumi Can't you remap it anyways?
I think the right analog stick was also mapped as gas and brake
@@yasunakaikumi Not true, the shoulder buttons on the dualshock 2 are pressure sensitive. It works really well for gas and brake in Gran Turismo games.
On the PS2 version, you can also use the right stick to accelerate and brake, instead of cross and square. This is the method I use to play this game.
You can do this on xbox as well
One of my favorite burnout games
Oh my god you are EVERYWHERE, sooo creepy oh my fuc*ING god
It's a great fav
@@MrMortsune He really is :D
Yep, it's one of my faves as well.
I like Burnout 2 better, but this is still great!

And so the rise of the braindead millenial began...
To be fair, the anti-aliasing probably does prevent some flickering on CRTs, which were still very common at the time.
In fact, Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl have a toggleable anti-aliasing filter, called "deflicker" in the settings, so that making that call would be left to the players based on their own preferences.
I used to wake up early in the morning to play this on my ps2! Still have the disc
You'd be hard pressed to find a game that pushed the PS2 to its limits as much as this game did. Such an amazing game. Still butt hurt there wasn't a GameCube release though
San Andreas? God of War 2?... Ever heardathose?
GameCube discs too small and by 2004 the sales of GameCube had totally slowed down.
Gamecube was losing support later on for certain games as the original game that gets a sequel or so would appear on PS2 and Xbox but not Gamecube.
@@aleksmeister92 EvEr HeArdOfThOSe graphically and fluidity, this game blows both of them out of the fucking water. San Andreas is easily one of the greatest games of that generation (if not of all time), but graphically it does not compare. And GoW 2's fps is a fucking mess.
I'll say Tekken 5 but yeah, Burnout 3 (and SSX 3) were very impressive
For those who want to emulate the game on PC, there is a patch that allows true 16:9 widescreen without any stretched images.
Exactly!
It's really impressive to see such a game running on the Playstation 2 this good. It's really looking great and runs like a dream.
That is true. Grease lightning.
How is it surprising? Look at Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3.
@@VergilHiltsLT I mean, it takes lots of optimization to run a game at a high frame rate while still looking good on a PS2
@@LNCRFT Not really, there are plenty PS2 games that look amazing and run at 60 FPS. Devil May Cry 1 and 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, Onimusha, Shadow of Rome, Tekken 4 and 5, Jak, Burnout 3, Twisted Metal Black, 007 Nightfire, God of War, Gran Turismo 3 and 4, Sly Cooper, SSX3, Ratchet and Clank series, Soul Calibur 2, Timesplitters series, Call of Duty games, even MGS3 has unlocked framerates up to 60 in some scenes.
That's a quite a lot of 60 FPS games I'd say, not all of them either.
@@VergilHiltsLT Did GT4 only run at 30 fps when selecting 1080i output? I also don’t really remember CoD running at 60. More like 25/30
All games I’ve had run at 25 fps or slower with a 576i output resolution such as GTA, NFS, MDC3, The Sims 2
Regarding the use of face button on the ps2 you should use the tip of your thumb for [ ] and X with the middle of your thumb. To switch between them bend and tilt your thumb, bend and tilt it downwards to hit [ ], straighten and tilt your thumb upwards a bit to hit X, this way you could switch pressing the buttons with minimal delay
Or just use the right analog stick
exactly
the licensed music in this game was legendary!!!!
people on xbox wouldnt know that because we played our own ripped cd,s in game 😂
Say whatever you want about the "evil ea" or "ea should die" but they gave the money to make this masterpiece, and without that we probably will had a "dangerous driving" mess like the one we had this year.
6th gen EA >EA today
EA is evil now, in the past they was not so evil so, EA is evil but back in the past they was not so evil
EA didn't give this to us, Criterion did.
@@PNAS27 why'd you repeat yourself?
"Take me to the Paradise City..."
The reason why the PS2 port runs so well is because, while RenderWare was created in 1993 as a 3D imaging API, its commercial use was specifically targeted at the PS2 due to its technical complexity when programming. It was scalable enough for other consoles, hence porting the game over to XBOX wasn't much of an issue and the headroom provided by the more powerful XBOX hardware was put to use to improve the quality.
PS2 is not a port
The framerates during crashes say otherwise, Xbox has lower framerates and downgraded particles, also missing alpha textures for foliage!
@poof You can literally see the tree leaves having weird outlines on Xbox. Plenty of trees in the level so no need to timestamp.
2:55 is proof Xbox has significantly lower framerates during crashes.
The lighting is certainly not better on Xbox. Never was its strong suit. Also better textures? Where?
@@VergilHiltsLT That because the bandwidth for the Xbox was 6.4GB/s with 1 ~ 2GB/s for the GPU. The Xbox version looks like the PCSX2 in hardware mode at 480p60, It worse in crash where you can notice the downgrades more. In revenge the Xbox has horrid frame tearing if all the cars in crash mode are pilled up meanwhile the PS2 has no such issue.
@@MT-ll3tu The bandwidth for PS2 was 48 GB/s, whom are you kidding. Also pixel fillrate was 1.2 Gigapixels/s, while Xbox only had 700 Megapixels/s, that's almost double on PS2. The PS2 also had superfast VRAM type (eDRAM) which is what allowed for insanely high framebuffer streaming speeds, meaning it could produce far better VFX than Xbox ever could with its limited Shader approach. Which is why PS2 exclusives had far better lighting, particle effects, warp effects, full water reflections and much more. Metal Gear Solid 3 is a prime example of PS2's true capabilities, since KojiPro really optimized the Vector Units.
While I enjoy the game, there are some things I wish they'd done differently, like getting rid of the rubber-banding during races. You can burn a whole 4x boost bar in one go, taking the turns perfectly and you will NEVER be more than a second ahead of the other cars, but if you crash a couple times, you can end up as much as half a minute behind them. If you get a full 4x boost bar and use it intermittently, while driving in the oncoming lane and getting near misses, you can keep it going for pretty much the whole race. And yet, even that isn't enough to keep you ahead of the other racers. At some point, they will go whizzing past you like you're standing still. If you're not boosting every single second, you can't maintain any kind of a lead.
And why are the cars that take the most effort to unlock, the worst ones to drive? The classic hotrod? It's like driving a dump truck full of lead. The formula 1? It slows to a crawl when you scrape the railings and oversteers at the drop of a hat. These cars feel more like a punishment than a reward. "You did great! Your reward is a car that drives like s***!"
UR BAD
@@obeseperson UR? Wasn't that an evil cult in some sword and sorcery movie? So I guess you're right, UR is bad.
The graphics on this game were ahead of its time!
Yes
The reflections are better on the Xbox version, but the lighting on the car and the specular reflections look better on the PS2. This game is the best looking racing game on the PS2 imo. Gran Turismo 4 is close, but this game just looks so damn beautiful even to this day.
Burnout Legends will always act like a proper port of Burnout 3 on PSP. Not for the NDS...
The ds version is cool, have the same map from the ps2,pc,psp versions into a lower nintendo 64
@@Izhen_UwU "lower nintendo 64" - the fuck is this supposed to mean ?
The issue with the DS version isn't the graphics, it is the poor physics and collision detection. What's funny is that studios previous game: Corvette on the GBA, actually had better collision detection!
@@scottthewaterwarrior
**Insert Price Is Right Losing Horn**
DS graphics are a tremendous joke 🤣
Lol
A particle comparison would have been nice, the sparks when grinding on a wall is one of the effects that is done really well on the PS2. Overall very good comparison, Burnout 3 is a great game.
Everything I want is EA to remaster this game
The game was developed by Criterion, EA was the publisher
@@mandibiedermann2246 Yeah, but EA bought Criterion, so...
I've been waiting years for this moment
I'm glad you seemed to enjoy it
Easily one of the best games I've ever played (and that I still play on my old XBOX) with the best soundtrack of all time, hands down. Gosh, the memories... I spent some phenomenal time on it, even though sometimes it felt frustrating (if I remember I should have about 500/600 hours in it lol) And of course, thanks for the amazing video, man. I loved every single second of it ;)
I'm glad you loved every second. Thanks for watching. And I agree. It's a great game
We need to see diferences between burnout dominator versions!
I love the psp version, it was helpful in my uni days!! Burnout legends is my fav burnout game.
Plus it had extra tracks.
Bought the 360 version like half and a year ago, spend a lot of time enjoying this just like I* did when I was 6yo, simply lovely game :D
Yep. Back when I started playing this on the PS2, I was annoyed about the acceleration not being on the trigger. Now it's pretty much common in most driving games.
I’d much prefer to play on the PS2. The controller is a lot more comfortable for me
My all time fav PS2 game! No racing game is even close to Burnout 3. I would give all my money for remastered version!
Same, I just bought Burnout Paradise remastered for PS4, but it's not like Burnout 3 😭😭
Legends was because an update of takedowns with cars from the first 3 games and police Chase it was my favorite
I liked that on the xbox you could play your own music instead of the games soundtrack
I actually have the Xbox version got it for Xmas last Friday happy new year
This game as aged so well
Side by side bloodrayne for ps2 xbox and GameCube
Yeah, that would be a great idea!
This game has such a iconic soundtrack imo.
It sure does
Today's games don't have it...... Maybe FORZA HORIZON 2,3
Weren't the PSP and DS versions called Legends?
Yes, but they were a mix of content from Burnout 2 and 3.
The music in this game was awesome
Framerates during crashes are worse on Xbox. Just shows what a monster PS2 was in the right hands, same with Metal Gear Solid 3!
I own Burnout 3 but it's still not backward compatible yet. I've only played Revenge and Paradise. Hopefully Microsoft can make it compatible for me to play someday.
I’m praying for a port for that game.
I'll buy an Xbox 1 if they do
I so wish we would get some new racing games in this vein. Onrush hit that button and makes me want more.
It's all FPS and shoot shoot shoot games. The argument of video games don't cause violence was way back when Doom had cruddy graphics things are way more then that.
Wreckfest. You’re welcome
God bless you for this video, and I’m so happy this was in my recommended. I miss burnout
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching
I Hope This Game Will Be Coming To Xbox One, Xbox Series S & Xbox Series X Soon
Bolder and Brasher?
Yeah, kinda ironic that DJ Atomica from SSX 3 would be Crash FM's DJ in Burnout Paradise, as DJ Stryker mentioned Atomica, who, at the time Burnout 3 was released, was the DJ for Radio Big in SSX 3
Love this game have a fat PS2 in my house in Thailand with logitech steering wheel set up works perfectly most compatible game to work with thus far got fifty Gold medals last holiday!!!
I'm not a racing game type person but this game is probably one of my top favorites of all time. It was just pure carnage fun to crash cars.
3:42 looks beautiful!
Wow, I can see where Need for Speed - Hot Pursuit (2010) came from.
The new Need For Speed game are pretty much watered down Burnout games, and it really doesn't work well in my opinion.
You can press X and Square at the same time and handbrake works fine.... It's really easy to use them
Quick note, the footage that you used from my channel is from the Xbox, not the PS2 as indicated in the video.
Cool though, thanks for using my footage. One of the few videos on my channel that ever gets any views lol.
