It doesn't surprise me at all. The ps3 was a pain in the ass to develop for as it was let alone in a game produced in 8 months like this cod was.
@Ioannis Stf they try to anyway most, if not all, cod titles ran and looked worse on ps3. They designed the games around 360 for the most part except ghost and Black ops 3 which was actually locked to 30 in the zombie mode.
@@RookerVision Not crazy considering the weaker PS3 hardware. Look Bayonetta, Dark souls and many others games with worse performances on PS3
Well, it wasn't weaker hardware, it was just near impossible to design for with their cpu chip. I remember Valve made the Orange Box for PS3 and hated it, and said never again. Sony sent them a team to help them with future games for free. Valve then loved the ps3.

Yeah I thought about putting the og Xbox in the 360 and the 360 into the One and the ps2 into the ps3 and had those into the comparison. But then I went. Nah...

@@ShinigamiPL That least is based on submitted information by users and isn't official. It basically means no one has tested it and provided any information as to whether it works or not. It should work on 20 and 60GB NTSC models because it has full PS2 hardware but the PAL 60GB and NTSC early 80GB may have issues or work flawlessly. No way to tell from that list.
@@mrratchet only works on Hardware-based retrocompatible PS3 (CECHA-CECHB Models). because this models have the hardware of the ps2 on it.
Damn, i miss this game so much. I still remember those moments where my friend, who was a PS3 fanboy at the time, raged so much because his version runs at 30 fps and doesnt look as good as mine because i was playing COD 3 on my Xbox 360 at 60 fps. Such a great game for its time. Amazing graphics and physics that still look awesome to this day!

@@4227cash I think the PS3 was underpriced. This is cos Blu-Ray players were like £1,500 then, but with a PS3 that was £599, you also had the ability to play PS1, PS2 & PS3 games as well as Blu-Rays, DVDs & CDs.
This was my first game for 360, having upgraded from a PS2 and not being able to wait for a PS3...
When I first went over that wall... It blew me away, and that's using a scart lead and not HDMI, because the first 360 didn't have it!
Yeah it was my brothers first game on the 360, so I played it a lot online until I got my PS3 and picked this up and beat the campaign. Was great

It was my first shooter, played the campaign god knows how many times on the 360. The multiplayer was really unique and fighting tanks was fair, if you had a class with a grenade you can climb up onto an enemy tank and throw a grenade down the hatch or when you're a rifleman you can use your rifle grenades and shoot it in the back twice to destroy a tank. The german weapons were harder to use than Americans but dealt a lot of damage
Call of Duty 3 for the Wii was my first real introduction to first person shooters, and also the first game I ever bought. It will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤
Same here mate. I still remember my parents getting me this title for Christmas when I was 6 years of age. A phenomenal introduction to the world of gaming for me.
Medal of Honor on PS1 was my first lol. Too bad the series went downhill

Call of Duty 3 is my favorite game of all time. Its sad that many Call of Duty ranking videos never include the first 3 cod's. Glad to see this game is still relevant to some people.
I agree, i love the first 3 cod on ps2. Solid campaign and stories.. The only advantage of modern cod are graphics

Back when these games came out not to many people knew or even cared about fps as long as the game ran good we were happy, now it's all about fps, 1080p/4k, and ultra settings, and showing off your gtx 1060/1080 & rtx 2080 on youtube ...Does any body still care about the game itself...??
John B yes. But people don't want a crappy game they want a good game. If it runs really poorly its unplayable. And it's not always about the visuals.

Well the original Xbox should look better than the PS2. Not only does it have a better processor, it's got almost double the RAM of Sony's machine.

@@bmx7596 cuz PS3 was hard af to develop games in comparison with 360, only sony's exclusive producers could actually unlock the full potential of the PS3, like Naught Dog with the Last of Us. almost every PS3 game ported from the X360 looks ugly or has some downgrades, GTA IV, Call of duty, even GTA V had framerate problems in comparison with the 360, but the cutscenes didn't lag during explosions on the PS3 like in the X360 so GTA V is kinda a tie on those 2 consoles

There are maybe one thousand much better shooters for pc, back then it was maybe 100 but still, this might be the reason.
Doom series, Quake series, Unreal series, OPFP/ARMA series, STALKER, Crysis, Far Cry, Half Life and offspring (TF, CS), Hitman, Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Red Faction, No One Lives Forever, Giants, Star Wars, SWAT, Serious Sam, FEAR, BioShock is what I personally remember as beeing better and played at that time.
It is very easy to bring up a shooter and compete on console market, but pc shooter is serious stuff.
you can always get pcsx2 or dolphin for ps2 or wii version. theres also a ps3 emulator, i hear xbox ones are harder to use so ive never tried for xbox.

When i played big red one on my ps2 as a kid i never knew what framerate is but i feel the game smooth and i always got an amazing time. Good old memories. I miss my ps2.
Stellar video as usual! My one suggestion would be to mention the resolution of each version of the game like in previous videos. Otherwise, I'm absolutely loving every second of every video you create.
lol. I always forget something. I have a bad Memory. For instance, I wanted to talk about how this Cod had vehicles in Online mode. I forgot to talk about it.
That's what makes me love this channel, it doesn't show only the comparison, but also explains the basics of story of the game without any spoilers.

Never played this one because it wasn’t on PC. CoD 2 and 4 are the best ones to this day.
Yeah stupid to skip PC. But it was during the worst decline in pc gaming. Of course this isn't an issue anymore.

Wow. Good Job. That was really a wealth of information. I am always in search of what are the definitive releases of every muti-release game as well as if any version definitive or not, has exclusive content. That said, didn't the PS2 version come with a bonus disc?

Yes, it did. As a child I got this game for PS2. While I'm missing the actual game disc I still have the bonus disc

Driver SF is an extremely underrated game. It's so fun and has tons of great cars and missions. The Bullitt mission where you get the 68 Fastback and they changed the color pallette and cars on the road to look more 70's blew my mind when I played it. Lots of love went into that game and it showed.

I’ve played through this game multiple times on the OG Xbox version and the 360 version. It’s my absolute favorite COD, such wonderful memories.
The first time I played online was on call of duty 2 on 360 ,the first map I played on was the one with the bridge in the middle in it and I with total strangers spent so so many minutes trying to jump it with a total randomer in the sidecar obviously tbagging everything possible. Happiest online memories of my life even now.
My first first person shooting game I've ever owned and I'm impressed about the intense gameplay it had. It became my favorite after first chapter.

I played the PS2 version long ago and loved it. Once I got a PS3, I was so excited to play it in HD & at a high frame-rate. Imagine my surprise when it barely out performed the PS2 version. :(
yeah it's kind of a shame it's not THAT much better and runs at 30 FPS.
TO BE FAIR: The PS3'S CPU is extremely complex.
While the Xbox 360 has just 3 CPU cores, the PS3 has 1 core and 8 mathematical co-processors, each with it's own cache and memory management.
Oh and you have to take care of that all in detail by yourself as developer. If done right, the batch processing power is enormous for the generation but the complexity...

well its 2006, and nobody knows the hardware of ps3 works, in this time, Ps3 versions are far inferior than xbox 360 counterparts because the harder difficult to program the games on ps3, but in 2008 when we have better DevKits and more knowledge of the hardware we have almost equally versions on Ps3 and Xbox 360 (Except Bayonetta and the games from Bethesda, thats were hardcoded from xbox 360 versions)

first game i had on my 360 back in 07 oh man how long ago was that now... cries in old anyway it blew my mind at the time and it was the first online shooter i ever played such good times god i want to go back to those days sometimes.....

This was my first CoD and I played it on PS2, never had any issues on it or on the PS3 version when I picked it up a couple years ago

I finished the campaign on ps2 a good month ago and it was super fun, bad quality aside. I got it going online today and found some people playing, so we all had a blast in there
Actually the PS3 always has been a bit superior but because like you said in the video it was so hard to make games on it the xbox 360 always had the best experience. The only games that was showing the true power of the PS3 was the exclusive games. Like God Of war, Uncharted, last of us etc. I had both consoles at the time and tbh back in the days playing on xbox 360 was better. Great online security, party chat (on Ps3 you needed to be on the same game so via game chat you were talking with your friend) X360 had the best memorable games like Halo 3 and GOW3. Back then Microsoft had every exclusive stuff coming first.
Then with the new gen only one guy decided to fucked up the whole system of what made the original xbox and the xbox 360 so good and you know what hapenned next. Then Sony Fanboys for years they were saying ''BeTtEr GrApHiCs On Ps4'' now we got the most powerfull console Xbox one X but now it doesn't matter anymore lmao 😂 whats matter NOW it's the ''exclusives'' I love how suddenly graphics didn't matter anymore after the X came out. Anyways I've been pretty lucky to be able to buy almost every consoles so I had the cahnce to test everything by myself and tbh there's no Perfect system. Even PC is not perfect too. The only thing that a console player that never played on a PC can't understand its the true freedom of playing on a PC and it's always a great feeling.

Playable with auto-HDR on Series X. Definitely the way to go if you want to play this game in 2021.
I used RPCS3 and a copy of COD3 and upscaled to 2k and 60fps.
The Wii version actually doesn't ask you to punch the air but to imitate the struggle movement your character is doing

the ps2 version suffered from frame rate losses even on pcsx2 despite having amazing graphics the game is considered cpu intensive even on pcsx2

@@HUNK_TZ I ran GTA 4 on my PC on 4K display with max settings, and then changed my input to GTA 4 running on my Xbox One with backwards compatibility, and after seeing it on PC, the xbox looked like puke

so during this console generation I have PlayStation 2 and played it religiously up until 2010 when I finally went to Xbox 360. so I play Call of duty 3 predominantly on that but when I got my 360 it was Black Friday of 2010 and I got Call of duty 3 for it and I was blown away. I also got modern warfare and World at War as well and let me tell you I was in heaven. And I actually thought the PS2 did a good job in the graphics. I thought they were great but didn't realize just how poor they were until I went current gen at the time. This game brings back a lot of memories and to this day I still play Call of duty and their Warzone.
Remember playing the ps2 version all the time when i was younger. Loved the game but really hated the QTEs.

Crazy you mentioned the ps3 issues. I played this game for the first time since 360 days this week and it just didn’t feel right. Makes sense the Xbox 360 one is insanely better! 8 months to make one of my favorite games ever due to pure memories around Xbox 360 launch with Friends.

I played this on the PS2 when it first came out and until now I had no idea it was even on 7th gen consoles, never really looked into it though.
It's kinda cool seeing this game a bit better looking then how I played it.
I played the hell out of the Xbox version, before switching over to the 360 version. I remember the high resolution, reflections, and generally shiny helmets and environments blew me away.
CoD3 on 360 was my first online game and I miss it so much sometimes

I can't wait to see Call of Duty 3 on Xbox Series X we could see this game at up to 4K HDR at 120 fps thanks to the velocity architecture and the same goes for the other Call of Duty game minus the 1st one as it's not yet back compatible

I started playing it after years on the original Xbox. I was stunned that it looked so good. I do collect for the OG Xbox and thought it would look worse. When it would run on 720p it would maby look a lot like the 360 version.

Okay maybe the ps4 has better exclusives than the xbox one but there is no way the ps3 has better graphics than the xbox 360. You can still see that the 360 has left a very big legacy behind why most people still remember ps2 rather than ps3
Emulating the game on PC, that first mission after the wall completely maxes out my Ryzen 3100.
Yes, I am very aware of the absurd overhead of emulation, but later parts don't get close on CPU load

Call of Duty 2 was an early game to properly use Direct X9. This title demonstrates why I prefer Infinity Ward over Treyarch.
I first played Call of Duty 3 on the wii and I had no issues with it or it’s controls except for that one driving sequence.

Thats crazy this was just recommended to me. I was literally just trying to get call of duty 3 for pc because I wanted to see maxed out settings and 60fps. Was upset to find out it wasn't even on there. Had to download the ps3 rom but need to configure it because its currently running at 10 fps

I remember my brother being so frustrated at the breaking free part on the wii version.
My dad loved this game. I wasn't the biggest fan coming from COD 1, 2 and 4 on PC though I didn't mind it's multiplayer because it was similar to United Offensive. Never knew the PS3 version was only 30fps, I picked up the 360 copy despite owning a PS3 at the time too.
Side note, are those your created tools? I've always wondered how to analyse framerates of console games. Great video.

Call of Duty 2 may have been the first game in the series to launch on a 7th gen console, but this game is the first multiplatform 7th gen installment and the first one to be optimized for 7th gen consoles. The Xbox 360 version being the clear winner, but it's even better when running on the Xbox Series X!
