I read a review online about this phone, and the person was complaining about only being able to charge it while it was turned off. Do you know if that is true?
Incredible video. Don't mind the hateful comments. Putting up with the garbage companies serve and even going as far to attack critics is ridiculous. People need to understand that being complacent with this slop only causes stagnation. Criticism is what drives real change and improvement. Keep up the good work!
That’s what I’m saying! 👏 The comments don’t bother me at all. What truly makes me sad is seeing people spend their hard earned money on products that are objectively bad, and companies continuing to produce those bad products without a care in the world. Most of us here are very “tech literate” in that we know what these phones should do, and how they compare to others, etc. I just want the average person to be informed and understand what sorts of products are being sold to them and why they may not be worth it for them in the end.
Motorola outside of their flip phones don't sell phones to people who are tech enthusiast. Most of their phones are for people who want affordable phones from a brand that they trust and for people who don't care about top flight specs. I mean don't you think if Motorola wanted to make just a whole bunch of flagship phones they could? And if that the case why not just get the Motorola think phone If you do want flagship spec. Motorola think phone has Snapdragon 8+ gen 1, 8 or 12 of ram 144 HZ display Corning gorilla Glass victus 65 watt wire under the screen fingerprint scanner but it only cost 399 on Amazon and 399 on Motorola website. I have the Samsung s23 ultra and I have the regular Samsung s23 and I have the OnePlus 9 5G. I was thinking about getting the Motorola think phone but it doesn't have a MicroSD card slot and I don't want another top scpec phone that don't have an SD card slot. That's one of the reasons why I still keep around my Motorola one 5g ace and my Samsung A51 5G because both of those phones have SD slots
I feel like USB-A to Type-C is the better cable to include if they won't include a charger with it, since people are much more likely to have a random whatever USB-A charging brick, or even a fast charge capable USB-A one, like an old Samsung charger than to have a USB-C charging brick. In this case including another charging brick might not even be necessary, the same way the amount of cardboard in this package isn't. This is also definitely a much better phone than the A05.
@@pixelgaming7261 Wow that's very useful.. yeah not really. What if you switch from a phone with micro usb? Back in the days with phones like the S8 they included a micro usb to usb-c adaptor and an OTG adaptor.
I got the Moto G Play 2024. Price tag was 49$ for the Device itself at Dollar General under Simple Mobile. These are incredible for my six-year-old they are literally available on prepaid services for $39 through Walmart listen these things are leaps and bounds better than what we had years ago lol and she loves it and if she breaks it oh well it’s $40 Way better than breaking a $700 outdated iPhone. 9:51 I really don't agree with this, the USB-A to USB-C cable can be used with way more chargers than the USB-C to USB-C cable, therefore making it more universal (which is the whole point of USB) and objectively better. As far as I know, only Samsung chargers use the USB-C to USB-C cable.
The A13 5G's display and selfie camera were pretty awful. Putting the A13 5G next to my A34 5G makes the A13 5G's display quality look 10 years old. It looked ok at first but after getting my new phone, I started to wonder how I put up with it. And after using the A34 5G, the A13 5G was borderline unusable, and it never felt like that before.
Oh wow, I didn't know Motorola changed so much over the years. I last used them in the Moto Mod era. They had some really great phones at the time. The Moto Z Play was just barely weaker than a flagship phone of the time and it was talked about for its good update frequency which was thought to be because of its near stock Android version. Though I guess maybe the "G" line of the Play is more budget than the Z Play? I wonder if the pho dual camera setup on this phone is a future cost saving measure to keep this series price down. In the future they can keep using this shell, but add in a second camera.
Best thirty-dollar phone on the market. I just bought a Boost mobile-branded Moto. It's fun as a burner phone. I'm not putting too much demand on it. It's an easygoing phone for most people. You're right; it does suck.
I am glad for this review and comments.. I am buying this one today July 14-24.. Someone gave me the Galaxy A11 (new) and the mic is garbage - good thing was Free!
While missing the 5G that I've gotten used to with my google phone and others I've borrowed. I do like it's camera and being able to buy it outright without too much worry. With that I am coming from Much much older phone tech so this feels just right for me.
I got this phone as part of a Tracfone plan for free from HSN about 2 years ago. Android 11, 64 GB storage, 4 GB ram . Android/Tracfones are the only thing I buy from HSN. As far as computers and phones, everything else sold by HSN is a rip off. Delaware County, PA 2024-03-27
who in the world would call a nice guy like you mean names? Absurd!!! Anyways...great video Wade. Love the New Moto G play..Saw one in Best Buy, and tried it out.... Seems great.
Did Moto go back to letting you use the SD card as extra internal memory instead of what happened with the 2023 model where it was just a separate memory option?
I just got my Moto G Play 2024 delivered and haven't "set" it up yet. I use the phone with Consumer Cellular so I think I need to have them transfer everything from my Moto G Play 2021 phone. My question is, when I called Consumer Cellular, they immediately recognized my phone number and asked if I was ready to activate my SIM card, but I backed out because I didn't know if all of my contacts, photos, etc. would be transferred over to my new phone. It appears this new phone doesn't need a new SIM card, so I'm confused.... do you think everything will automatically be transferred to my new phone, or do I have to go into a Target store and have a Consumer Cellular rep do the setup?
just copy all your contacts from the old phone on to the SIM card. Then when you put the SIM into the new phone, all the contact info will stil be there. Some new phones do not need a SIM card because they have both eSIM and SIM. Alternatively, you can synch with your Google account and sign into the new phone with this account.
Hey I would love a Samsung A05s review (i liked your A05 but i hear the A05s is a bit better) and unboxing because I am looking into that phone and wanted to hear your perspective (btw great vid on Motorola :))
Motorola cell phones will always have better antenna reception than any other cell phone in the market of course except iPhones wich also have good reception.
I'd like to see how well it runs under Lineage. Moto is not that great for upgrading Android past two years. But if you can run open source Android on it, then it wouldn't matter. To me it doesn't matter if the phone can be rooted because I don't put any sensitive information on my phone. I use it primarily to check bus and train schedules and make the occasional call. I think it is a bargain price -- one tenth the cost of an iPhone pro or a folding Sammy.
The comments should be focussed on what is this phone design for? Who is this phone designed for? It’s an entry-level phone do not compare to an iPhone 1415 or whatever is very basic structure, power source camera, etc. but for someone first learning or an elderly person first learning this is a great phone.
I admit, I'm not too techy. I got this phone and love it! BUT, the battery seems to drain a bit quickly for a brand new phone. I've been going through all the setting and I don't see any apps which are running. Are you, or anyone reading this, experiencing a battery drain with this phone? If not, would you know of anything running automatically which I could turn off?
Paper can actually be a net carbon positive process, they don't cut down forests to make paper, they grow trees specifically for paper production like you grow corn. It takes a lot, literally tons of carbon out of the atmosphere.
I absolutely love this phone for $90 from Walmart with a 50 MP camera (iPhone 14 quality) and 120 fps with SO many features and you don't even have to pay for RUclips music the phone's pin feature completely by passes paying any subscription you can even lock your screen or play music while gaming
10:12 The depth and macro camera in last year's model were basically useless so 1 camera isn't that much of a deal breaker. The lack of an ultrawide lens and 4k video is normal at this price point and is a feature only found on midrange and flagship phones. After all, the iphone se 2022 which costs a lot more at $429 has no ultrawide lens and still only has 64gb of base storage so it's not that bad.
There's no denying this is still a budget phone with all of the caveats of one, but compared to last year's model, they really got their shit together. It's not even close. And when you consider it's still slated for three years of security updates, this is a phone I might actually recommend to someone who just wants the basics, and I haven't said that about Motorola in a long time.
i buy this for my mom she loves it she loves the battery it last her 2 days she has straint talk we payed $40 bucks for it she does use it for facebook and calls and text and email web she loves it
The G Play from last year was worse than the Samsung Galaxy A21s, which came out for the same price 3 years before with an even better performance. The new one looks much better.
Hey, thanks for the video and I guess my biggest criticism is the screen you gotta have a screen that’s decent enough to look at if it’s pixelated what’s the point
Just paid $39.99 for one at Wally world. Mine took maybe 10 minutes to set up. This phone is for someone like me. I couid care less about impressing people with a phone. I need to make calls and text, and occasionally watch youtube. It does those things just as well as any flagship phone. Beyond that, it's probably trash. Idk but i don't care. I don't game, i dont really listen to music or anything else. So there's no reason to spend anymore then necessary. That's my 2 cents, not that anyone asked for it.
How does this phone compare to the Motorola Moto G Stylus 4G/LTE (2023)? Stylus is $129.99 so it is cheaper currently to the G Play (2024). which is better, which has a better camera?
Most people don't need a high-end device. Hell most people who buy cell phones wouldn't know the difference between the functions of a $600 phone versus a $200 phone. So for most casual phone users this phone works perfectly fine. If someone can pick up this phone for $100 or less, they're definitely getting a phone that can last at least two years.
My first smart phone was a Moto G (1st gen) a good phone for the money. A bad charging cable blew that phone, My dad had the same 1 it lasted a good 3 years after that. After me 1st when south (I got a 3rd and 4th gen) very poor replacements and Lenovo owned. They seemed to drop the ball with the Motorola name. My dad also got another Motorola phone (Lenovo owned time) that was rubbish as well. In 2017 I switch to Samsung as did my dad not long after. Never looked back.

It's a upgrade from last year. It's not for me though. I'm going to wait until they release the new power to decide if I'm going to keep my power 23. I heard the 2024 power may be a downgrade. If so I will just keep my phone.
Motorola is always so wonky with their releases. I’ve felt the last 2 years of Moto devices have been a downgrade across the board (and people call me a “complainer” or say that I’m a paid shill hating on Motorola, but the spec sheet doesn’t lie 🙄) I’m really hoping the devices this year - like the G Play - are actual upgrades, because we need more smartphone options in the U.S.
@@TechDailyMy Moto G power 23 is a huge upgrade from my Moto G power 22. I turn that phone on occasionally. It feels so slow compared to the 23 phone. The 23 also sounds better. Dual speakers and Dolby Atmos. Also more storage. 128 GB . Yes there's room for improvement. Especially in the camera department. I love Motorola phones though. I'm not sure why. There's just something about them that I love.
Doubtful. This has less ram and the processor is only a smidgen more powerful. Maybe wait for a good trade in deal for the Pixel 7a? That's a better phone and hopefully Google will offer a good trade in deal for you.
Bro just did his job. Don't mind them. Helio G36 is totally trash. Even if you ask MKBHD, he'll definitely say that the G Play 2023 is really slow even at the basic apps like messaging, or taking photos. So you see, the phone could not even do the basics without hiccups, and that's why I skipped buying that phone. Also, the 2024 version got drastic improvements. Thanks to these guys who criticized the 2023's performance
It seems like a smartphone for people who want to be reachable, and maybe some light use of social media..as well as watch movies all week long with that external 1TB storage

I did find you a little harsh on Moto G Play....but I saw this video and bought this phone. This 2024, is amazing and I love it! Thank You! I
Realized in this video just how good your work is. Keep it up. Truly to the point.
While missing the 5G that I've gotten used to with my google phone and others I've borrowed. I do like it's camera and being able to buy it outright without too much worry.
With that I am coming from Much much older phone tech so this feels just right for me.
Hey I wanted to ask whether you buy the mobile phones yourself or get them from the companies.
But the redmi note 13
Very useful information. I love watching your videos cause it educateds me about all these different phones and inspires me to get into phones 📱✨
I got this phone as part of a Tracfone plan for free from HSN about 2 years ago.
Android 11, 64 GB storage, 4 GB ram .
Android/Tracfones are the only thing I buy from HSN.
As far as computers and phones, everything else sold by HSN is a rip off.

who in the world would call a nice guy like you mean names? Absurd!!! Anyways...great video Wade. Love the New Moto G play..Saw one in Best Buy, and tried it out.... Seems great.
6:42 Yeah, the G Play (2023)'s 90Hz panel looked more like 45Hz.
Currently using the g84, great phone for the price ❤
The Moto Edge 40 Neo might be better value unless you got the G84 for just over 200 bucks or less.
Is the battery removable?
NEVER..
Come on… it’s 2024! You know it’s not.
Hey I would love a Samsung A05s review (i liked your A05 but i hear the A05s is a bit better) and unboxing because I am looking into that phone and wanted to hear your perspective (btw great vid on Motorola :))
A better compassion is the new Samsung International A15 4G. It is ok only a few dollars more and has way better specs.
Yes i am its because of the high processor clock speed and 90hz 💯
U can try switching refresh rate to 60hz to see if it helps
@@pip3384 great! Thanks! Did you find it helping with your situation?
I rarely turn it off lol u can also try turning off location and going into apps and restricting background use 👌🏾@@TopFitnessStrategies
And also deleting apps u dont use which also eats battery
Just bought that very same phone. So far so good!
So can I use it for games?
There's no denying this is still a budget phone with all of the caveats of one, but compared to last year's model, they really got their shit together. It's not even close. And when you consider it's still slated for three years of security updates, this is a phone I might actually recommend to someone who just wants the basics, and I haven't said that about Motorola in a long time.
Got it, love it and the battery lasts two days with heavy use.👍
My last and only Moto Android phone was the Atrix 4G back in the day.
What did you think of it back then?
I had that phone in 2011
just copped mine for 30$ from family dollar 😂😂 solid phone just needed something for my anime etc
Omw to family dollar for the same reason lol
Does it have FM radio?
It does
I bought mine for 89.99 from Cricket
49.99 simple mobile
is it smooth on games?
@@twinnnnn600 Yes, and I got mine through Walmart for $39. It's locked Straight Talk.
Does it have a regular standard wall charger.
I am extremely happy with my Motorola phones. This one is great. I have no desire for any other brand.
I'll buy this as an back up. Thanks for an awesome review!
i buy this for my mom she loves it she loves the battery it last her 2 days she has straint talk we payed $40 bucks for it she does use it for facebook and calls and text and email web she loves it
Basically the perfect starter phone for my child. Thanks for this review
Can you compare this to the Moto G14?
The G Play from last year was worse than the Samsung Galaxy A21s, which came out for the same price 3 years before with an even better performance. The new one looks much better.
Hey, thanks for the video and I guess my biggest criticism is the screen you gotta have a screen that’s decent enough to look at if it’s pixelated what’s the point
You did a wonderful vedio of the moto g play 24 man thanks im going to buy this phone my a54 5g galaxy is not user friendly, at $450.00
Glad you enjoyed! Hope you like your new phone!
What about NFC?
No NFC in this model
I'm getting a new Motorola G Play soon, will this be a big upgrade from an LG Rebel 4??
First of all you do a fantastic job how you rate the phones thank you so much job well done
Not all motorola phone are the best but one of them are good but which one is recommended from motorola moto g series
Im probably buying this tomorrow. My current phone is a 2017 LG phone 😂
The new motorola moto g play 2024 is decent but good speakers and nice design and how much gb in motorola moto g play 2024 has
64gb
2:47 I got mine for ten bucks bc it was a new plan 😂😂. I love the phone though!
Thank you for this I got so sick of my Amazon tablet this doesn't seem like such a bad buy.
Im disabled and only use prepaid phone. UScellular is sending me one for a penny because my old phone drowned. Well I have used motorola in past and it was fair yes. I hope this will be able to at least depend on. I only gave a penny so not out much.. Its on ebay for $150..
Thinking about getting one for my brother
Its 40$ right now at walmart just got it. I can olay cod mobil on high settings and watch youtube at the same time. Absolutely mind boggling what i can do with this phone
Helpful. Thank you.
Last phone was so laggy but now I got a new one and is so much smoother
I read a review online about this phone, and the person was complaining about only being able to charge it while it was turned off. Do you know if that is true?
I havent used Motorola in years. Is this thr same Moto G Play as in Google Play, as how they used to do G Play editions back in the early 2010's?
Motorola atrixa 4g was my first phone.
That’s a phone I don’t think I’m familiar with!
@@TechDaily it was realsed in 2011
Hi how much price Sir?
As long as I can play cod mobile is all I care about lol
I'm currently using a Pixel 4a, will this be a better phone all around than my current one?
Thanks to these guys who criticized the 2023's performance
weird. my moto g play 2023 was running really fast. just getting the moto g play 2024 in the mail today. its only $50 with tracfone
Where do I get a sim card ? The phone ne didn't come with 1
from ur cell carrier.
Whats the exact model #?
In India its renamed as moto g04s and even cheaper one's moto g04 we have so many color options and we get the charger inside the box
Is this better than the moto power ?
When is the release date?
It seems like a smartphone for people who want to be reachable, and maybe some light use of social media..as well as watch movies all week long with that external 1TB storage
Thank you for the informative video. I was considering this phone or a moto G 5g 2023 phone. Any recommendations? Thanks
Why not the moto g stylus 2023??🤔
Compare this phone to the Samsung A15 4G International. I'm Canadian, but bought it off Amazon USA.
🤩🤩I am looking now after 6m and it is 50$... but I am not buying anything just looking what the prices are these days... next will be something for around 50$ for sure no point to spend more :)
very nice review but i wished that u covered gaming on it too
