I got this phone after using a Samsung Galaxy s20 fe for 4 years. It is faster and works better. Contactless payments is harder to target and the cameras don't do portrait video. I got it for the headphone jack and memory card reader. The Bluetooth audio is amazing. I think this would qualify as an audiophile phone.
It really checks the main boxes, stylus, 3.5 mm headphones jack, 8GB of ram, p-Oled screen, new software which is very smooth, and 120hz refresh rate. For 200 or less.
And you forgot most importantly, absolute shit backing. They should have kept with the plastic theme at the very least, if not metal or whatever else. The faux leather (and leather overall) is crap. Over time without a case it will wear out fast, dirty fast and can easily tear near the camera bump in particular. If you use a case with it, it becomes heavier and more shit and less slim - which is a selling feature isn't it? Slim with faux leather? They screwed up with that backing big time.
@@CinHalCedHerChance I still like this phone. I'm sorry you had this problem with your phone. It isn't a great thing to go through. That being said, I like the features that come with this phone. I've had this phone now for several months. Still loving it! One of the best phones I've ever owned. I've always been a fan of Motorola's value. This phone stepped it up a notch with the OLED display. Great review.
I just wish it was sold here. I love this phone! Stylus, 3.5mm, SD card slot, FM radio 😢 I dont care about giga Chad flagship cameras, although I care about flagship processor but sadly no flagship phone has those feature. Also so nice to have a stylus
It’s funny - outside the US, Motorola has great options. Here in the US, we really got boinked by bad releases the last 2 years. Then suddenly…this banger!
Very good video, between this and the 4-way comparison this convinced me to go for this phone. I don't upgrade too often, and I am fairly happy with my 2020 Moto G Power, but this looks like the sort of leap on all fronts to keep my phone feeling fresh for a long while. It's not too often I see Motorola come out with a model that actually feels like a perfect storm, and this is the first since my current phone to feel that way to me.

One thing that i do want to bring attention to is that there IS something special about that little pen even if it's small, nothing else with that tiny footprint can actuate the screen the way the tip of that pen does even if it's a professionally made imitation, so the screen is either specially calibrated to respond to that small footprint or there's something similar to the S pen where there's some passive doohickey that allows the phone to detect the proximity and position of the tip.
I just upgraded to this phone a few days ago from the Moto G Stylus 4G (2022) which was manufactured January 5, 2023. I bought it April last year I believe. I only upgraded because it's been getting stuck in a boot loop, starting several months ago, until I hold the power button down and hard reset it. What it's doing, is for some reason, it's removing my fingerprints 1 by 1. The fingerprint sensor has malfunctioned. I'd have to re-add my fingerprints to it so I can unlock it with them. I even reset it to factory settings and it was okay for about a few weeks I'd say, then it started with the boot looping/deleting fingerprint nonsense. On one of my days off from work, I headed to Walmart a few days ago to look for a new phone to buy and as soon as I pulled in the parking lot, it started rebooting. I let it keep happening so I could show the guy in electronics. Suffice to say, I'm happy with this new phone so far. It's such a noticeable upgrade, namely the camera! The whole phone is way faster also.
I checked Motorola's website the Moto g stylus 5g 2024 is guaranteed to get two years of os upgrades and 3 years of security patches after that so that's a good 5 years of software updates it ain't bad for a depending on where you go $400 to $200 phone
I think 3 years of software support is enough if you buy it brand new.. probably can keep it for 4 years and most people upgrade their phones by then due to battery degradation. It would be nice to see more OS updates though. I own a Moto G Power 2024 and I love it. I like the LCD more than OLED honestly because I find it easier on my eyes, but these phones are extremely nice for the price.
Yeah, I'm weirded out by Motorola's reluctance to address software updates. With AI and other features hitting Samsung & Pixel, Motorola is about to be left far, far behind
Im from Philippines but I finally got a hand on one of these goodies👅 Cant wait! First thing ill do is install Niagara launcher and customize the heck out of it! This phone just for some reason looks aesthetically pleasing
Just got this on sale and I'm so excited for it. The software updates are not a huge deal breaker for me since I use to run with prepaid phones (which get pretty much no updates) and I've had my current Moto G Power since 2020. The new G Power didn't get the best reviews but the G Stylus got amazing ones and was only an extra 35 bucks with the sale. The big draw for me though was the storage space. Games for days now!
I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I recently sold a Note 9. This is my next phone. I just bought it a few days ago and I’m waiting for it to arrive this weekend. I’m bored with the iPhone… again (I’m an Apple/Android flip flopper) and I haven’t had a current android device in years. What got me was the headphone jack, styling, and microSD card slot. The stylus is a bonus because I don’t think I used it more than 5 times on my Note 9.
Going on five years as a Moto fan, I dont want to upgrade from my second Moto, a One 5g ace which can't be updated to Android version 14 from 11. I love my One 5g ace as the basic phone that it is. Texting, pictures, and business calls are all I need. But now some of my business required apps are looking for Android14. It would be great if Motorola would at least give three years of updates, then I can justify the cost of a replacement. Thanks for the review of the G Stylus. It doesn't make me want to replace my current phone with another that may also fall to no updates available. My wife just got a new iPhone, her old iPhone will work the apps my Moto won't.
My phone since 1 month and all is good i returned Samsung A35 to Samsung after 10 days cause it's laggy in multi apps menu and for the same price this phone better , screen more sharp + max brightness and 256go vs 128go and more rams. Price vs quality i can say 9/10 !
I've had the A35 for less than a month and the battery life is not good, do my plan may e to return it and purchase this phone, also. Is the battery life on it pretty good?
@@Susan-nb3ep Yes battery life is better by far and the screen outside is more easy to read ! Honesly the only think A35 make batter is about software updates over the years but i can say go for it for the G stylus 2024 5G! 👍
Any 120 hz OLED phone with dual speakers, that can run most apps at medium-base settings, with a micro SD slot and a headphone jack is a massive win to me for just a bit more than 300 usd; also motorola phones tend to go down in price very fast, so who knows how much it'll cost in 6 months/1 year (I can currently find a moto g stylus 2023 for around a 100 usd) Also, the stylus is practically a gift at that point, I was already being sold on it before I remembered it had one lol
Been with samsung for over a decade, this is my first Motorola, and I got it for $250 on prime day. So far, I've throughly enjoyed it. The MASSIVE expandable storage, headphone jack, and big saturated screen was the big sellers for me. As well as the premium look. 2 thumbs up for this phone 👍🏾👍🏾. Great review 👌🏾
I used to be loyal to Samsung until they started taking away the sd card slot. I am considering this phone, but I remember trying something else and being shocked with the stock google os. Does this phone use the stock google os?
Indeed. I've purchased two of these Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 phones and I completely agree. It's an amazing device. Too bad they didn't add 3 years of OS updates like the Moto RAZR 2024 which I also own.
Motorola has always been a favorite till LG stopped making phones now i'm all Motorola. Can't decide on my next phone either this or the Edge-2024. This has some great features but the display on the Edge is killer.
Last stylus I had was a bloody LG stylus 7.. talk about a turkey!!! I'm getting this one soon though, I like the specs and Cricket has it for a hundred bucks!
One thing I have noticed after getting a G power 2024. Is that the videos are terrible. Even at 60fps settings it'll stutter and lag and will just be choppy. I don't get it. Taking videos is a basic function yet no Motorola not even their edge products can take smooth videos. It's sad that my 2010 Galaxy s and 2013 iPhone 5c take more smooth footage than this phone. Motorola needs to do something about it. no other phone in this price range struggles with video
My Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 comes tomorrow. I got it strictly for the Snapdragon and HD gaming for PUBG. Im on a budget so. Heard this phone is among the best for budget phone/gaming and Ive also seen it in action with PUBG on HDR settings with ZERO lag. Cant wait. Conqueror status here I come!
I left apple for this phone. Im tired of the high prices and shitty quality. This phone is amazing! Great camera, 120 refresh rate is amazing and the quality is perfect. I love stylus phones
T.D. can you please do a comparison video with this phone and the A54? They're ZERO videos comparing the two. Thought you might want to jump on that opportunity.
Just what I've been waiting for, a good midrange with a great display, long battery life, wireless charging, headphone jack, expandable memory, and a smooth operating/simple interface. Add a very reasonable price and it is a winner ❤
I’m very much considering this phone and leaving my iPhone 13. I read a review on Best Buy where a user said this Moto G Stylus ran circles around his iPhone 13. I usually post a long reply but Wade, you totally nailed it here. Great review! The only downside is the lack of long term software support. Otherwise this is the best phone Motorola has made in many years. Keep up the great content!
Thats such cap, an iPhone 13 has the A15 which absolutely destroys this (Snapdragon 6 Gen 1) and the 13 will get more OS updates like you said. Motorola is trash when it comes to OS updates. The Stylus 2024 would be more nice as a side phone or maybe a budget phone but a downgrade if you already have an iPhone 13.
Tap and hold on it and you'll be able to drag it to the trash can. Or tap and hold on a blank spot on the Home Screen to edit the widgets and tap to remove it.
One of the things that turned me away from the older Motorola Stylus phones was the thickness of the Stylus. They were like holding a thin crochet hook! This iteration seems to have tried to remedy that by making it a tad wider, making it easier to hold on to. I have the S22 Ultra, and I don't use the tricks offered for Samsung's Stylus. Because I only use it for scrolling, typing, and keeping my calendar, the Motorola sounds more practical. However, the lack of support concerns me. I suppose that I can upgrade every year or so, but that will get expensive fast! Going to have to take a longer, harder look at this one.
The only reason (and it might be a really dumb one) i got the G Power 2024 vs the 2024 Stylus was the color! I hate both those colors! I can't believe they didn't offer it in BLACK or a darker color!
A lot of the apps like games were put on by Google, not Microsoft.when I signed in to Google on my s24, Google installed a lot of the same apps on my phone.
just bought this. I bought most moto stylus phones and yet my favorite one is still the 2020 with 2022 being the absolute worst. 2023 amazing and upgrading now because I accidently broke my 2023. Only thing I dont like is the fingerprint sensor being on the screen. I still prefer the sensor being in the back where the Motorola logo is.
If they had a version of this with flagship specs this would be an instabuy. Headphone jack, no curved glass bs, micro SD card support. Their top of the line expensive phones don't have that.
To my understanding, if you buy it unlocked directly from Motorola or via Amazon, there shouldn't be any bootloader restrictions. Carrier-locked phones likely wouldn't be able to.
Is there any way to ensure SIM compatibility? I want to buy and take this back to India but don't want to waste money if it cannot support Indian carriers
Maybe next year it could get a 68W moto fast charging, and unless they intend on adding IP68 rating, removeable batteries. Additionally the chipset is the same speed as the apple A11 from the Iphone 8 in 2017.

I got this phone on july 18th from cricket upgrading from the 2021 moto g power and after doing research and when i say i love the screen i did a brightness comparison lowering both side by side in the dark it amazed me how much i could still see on this phone verse my old one motorola you got a winner with this one
The comparison I needed! TFS!

Yes absolutely @@Gbyerly0331
I got this phone after using a Samsung Galaxy s20 fe for 4 years. It is faster and works better. Contactless payments is harder to target and the cameras don't do portrait video. I got it for the headphone jack and memory card reader. The Bluetooth audio is amazing. I think this would qualify as an audiophile phone.
I just found an app, that makes the phone even louder!!! I love this thing
I wish Motorola would make a flagship variant of this phone. It would give Samsung a run for their money.
Agreed and launch it in the fall since the ultra is launched at the beginning of the year.
And I wish that they would release their edge plus for 2024, why couldn't they just release them both at the same time?
Yes pls an Edge Stylus or something would sell really well
@TechDaily can I use my samsung watch with this phone? I will be upgrading soon. Please answer
The Motorola edge plus 2022 is stylus supported. You have to buy the stylus with the case separate.
It really checks the main boxes, stylus, 3.5 mm headphones jack, 8GB of ram, p-Oled screen, new software which is very smooth, and 120hz refresh rate. For 200 or less.
That's where I'm at. I don't really care about cameras
Vegan leather is pleather. It's been around since the 70's. The fact that they have changed the technology a little doesn't change what it is. But, as I said earlier, I still like this device.
@@CinHalCedHerChanceNot big time. Not everyone like you disagrees. I understand that we can all have our opinions
Does it still do gestures, like 2 shakes for flashlight?
Finally Motorola US is trying as hard as Motorola Global. Glad to see good budget options for everyone.
I've Had Mines For Almost 90 Days... This Is The Moto I Was Waiting For I Don't Care About The One Year Update Im Truly Happy With My Phone They Got My Vote Well Played Motorola WELL PLAYED....
The only thing I would ask for that they could do more is maybe update the stylus just a bit instead of a metal stick and maybe one more Android operating system update but for me I guess it really doesn't matter as far as the Android updates as long as there's one because I do buy phones frequently. Other than that this phone is basically perfect in my opinion for me anyway maybe a choice of a couple more colors but I like the caramel latte that's the color I got
I agree I got mine for $39 as an upgrade for my main line I have an pixel fold but I enjoy the Motorola extras such as camera and flashlight with the gestures
Does it have a smart select like the note where you can extract the text from a sentence or choose what you want to copy on the screen?
I believe I'm doing that currently, if I'm understanding you correctly. Long press and it highlights whatever you want and it'll read it to you, or open a browser to further look into whatever subject it is
Amazing review! This is what I've needed for some time now. I went from iPhone 14 Plus back to Android with the OnePlus 10T. Even with all that power I'm still unhappy. The phone overheats when dashing and I just ordered this Moto G Stylus and I can't wait!
@@TechDaily outside the us they have this edge series, which has this boring curved edges, no headphone jack, no SD card slot. 😓
@@mokisan We have the edge series here as well
Very good video, between this and the 4-way comparison this convinced me to go for this phone.
This mans really put McD's on his Home Screen 🍔🍟

Im from Philippines but I finally got a hand on one of these goodies👅
Cant wait!
Dont forgot you the stylus has somewhat of a pen tip that you can click when your bored 😂
This is the best budget phone I ever purchased this is worth more than the price
How is the camera?
I love it's still got micro sd! And the stylus. Only a few minutes in but if the camera is good, I'm sold!
@@guillaume-s2o Thanks for the info!
Any 120 hz OLED phone with dual speakers, that can run most apps at medium-base settings, with a micro SD slot and a headphone jack is a massive win to me for just a bit more than 300 usd; also motorola phones tend to go down in price very fast, so who knows how much it'll cost in 6 months/1 year (I can currently find a moto g stylus 2023 for around a 100 usd)
Also, the stylus is practically a gift at that point, I was already being sold on it before I remembered it had one lol

Shame they went with the under screen fp sensor. I really liked the power button fp sensor on the 2023 model.
I just got the same phone 3 days ago and I love it ❤. But is it water proof????
Water resistant. You can drop it it water, but not USE it underwater. But I've already found a waterproof case for mine, so I'm all set

What about the edge plus 2023 it's 500 bucks with 512gb and snapdragon gen2
its such a good phone even now in aug 2024. i have it and cant find a fault other than no aod
The Edge Plus 2023 is definitely the best phone from Motorola.
Motorola has always been a favorite till LG stopped making phones now i'm all Motorola. Can't decide on my next phone either this or the Edge-2024. This has some great features but the display on the Edge is killer.
Hey man what clock is in this video on the phone
Last stylus I had was a bloody LG stylus 7.. talk about a turkey!!! I'm getting this one soon though, I like the specs and Cricket has it for a hundred bucks!
The only thing that kills this phone is the lack of software updates it will get
Yawn
Should we care about DAC if we are already getting a 3.5mm jack in a phone.. please reply..
Find an LG V60 or G8.
I really wish I had one of these phones, it's that awesome.
I would like a higher end device, but without expandable memory, no way.
What you think so far

I got the 2021 G stylus in march of 2021 and kept it until January of 2025. I used the stylus, maybe, 5 times in 4 years. So I got the 2024 G power.

Great review. Thanks.
T.D. can you please do a comparison video with this phone and the A54?
Ordered mine today. Leaving my 13 pro behind lol.

How can I get the Google bar off my home screen?
You should try the Motorola Edge 50, its a flawless phone.
Owned the 2022, 2023, and now the 2024. By far the best
Im really trying to decide between this in Scarlet or the 2024 Edge.
Ask yourself how important is the stylus to you
My old stylus 5g 22 can still handle more than I need, and that's split screen most of the time
Great phone great cameras too
nice review. pls whats the name of the shooting classic game shown at the beginning of the video? at 27 sec time frame
Kinda looked like a revamped version of Contra
The only reason (and it might be a really dumb one) i got the G Power 2024 vs the 2024 Stylus was the color! I hate both those colors! I can't believe they didn't offer it in BLACK or a darker color!
I mean, normally you put a case on a phone, so the color of the back really doesn't matter
Is this phone waterproof? And does it support esim?
Water resistant. No ESIM.
It does support esim
I'm looking at it in my settings as I type this
Unfortunately this device is not released in the UK or I'd get it as a side phone.
I am in Kenya where can I get it
Is moto g stylus 2024 have palm rejection stylus writing?
Don't know if I should get one to upgrade my note 10 plus. A few more spen features from Motorola would of been nice.
That's definitely like going from a Samsung flagship to a mid range phone
Does this phone have screen recording?
Yes
If they had a version of this with flagship specs this would be an instabuy.
Headphone jack, no curved glass bs, micro SD card support. Their top of the line expensive phones don't have that.
Can the bootloader be unlocked? This would be a good choice to run Lineage OS on to extend the devices lifespan.
To my understanding, if you buy it unlocked directly from Motorola or via Amazon, there shouldn't be any bootloader restrictions. Carrier-locked phones likely wouldn't be able to.
Can you be more specific re the advantages & benefits of unlocking the bootloader... Thank you
Is there any way to ensure SIM compatibility? I want to buy and take this back to India but don't want to waste money if it cannot support Indian carriers
I upgraded to this Google Fi phone (2024 Moto G Stylus @ $99.99 USD) from a Google Fi Pixel 4a and so far I like the results.
I've just seen this phone on sale for £80 so I was curious to find out more about it
Maybe next year it could get a 68W moto fast charging, and unless they intend on adding IP68 rating, removeable batteries.
Additionally the chipset is the same speed as the apple A11 from the Iphone 8 in 2017.
