I had both and got rid of the g9. Mostly because the g9 screen is fixed with half the resolution and less brightness than the g12. It was a deal breaker for me. G12 also has an extra stop of dynamic range and faster image processing. They are both cheap fun cameras in 2023 though, i would happily own either.

I've always felt that the IQ was better from the G9, but as you say, for the money, both are great.

I had a G11 and G12,Now I have a G15. I like it way better. I realized that I did not use the articulating screen all that much,and it made the camera much bulkier. I LOVE my G15

I took tens of thousands of pictures on my G12 until the sensor died. Although I have a more modern Lumix LX10, I missed the G12, so I went out and bought a used one. The articulating screen is a must, for it enables me to take pictures discreetly.

Usually about 1/2 a second and then move the camera.

I have G10, G11 and G12! I have the best picture with the G10, but I love the G11 more.

My favourite is the G9. I just think they hit the peak with that little camera.

Many people think that when canon increased the mp count, it made the cameras worse in terms of IQ. If image quality is what you're looking for, there wasn't much of an improvement after the G9, although the movie and screens were better on later models.

Because it's a better camera. The G12 is regarded as being a poor camera compared to the G9 or G10

640x480 as I recall. But you could easily and accidently change it to 2x speed which was annoying as you only found out afterwards.
