    Cheers.

      @DavidFlowerOfficial  17 дней назад

      I haven’t used the G9 so I can’t say for sure, but I suspect that the only thing you’re getting in the G10 vs the G9 is a few extra pixels which in the real world doesn’t amount to much.
      Thanks for watching🖖

      @DavidFlowerOfficial  Месяц назад

      As a walk around daily camera I think it’s a great camera for beginners as long as you don’t intend to shoot in low light. As for the vintage photos, that’s all editing and the G10 files are very easy to edit.
      When I use the G10 I almost always shoot in raw, in P mode with exposure compensation set to about -0.3 stops, iso at its lowest and white balance on auto🖖

    I've had this camera since it was new. The main weakness is the low-light performance. Comparably priced compacts from Sony, Panasonic, and Ricoh were all better for low light. And the lack of an articulated screen is a bit bizarre considering the G9 and G11 both had it.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  8 месяцев назад +1

      Based on what I’m seeing on the used market today, Panasonic, Sony and especially Ricoh have all developed an almost cult like following and it’s reflected in the prices. The canon counterparts on the other hand aren’t so bad. I do agree that the fixed screen is a bit annoying considering the view finder is practically pointless on the G10.
      Regarding low light, I wouldn’t even pick up one of these when you can get comparably sized apsc cameras at half the price with significantly better performance and the ability to change lenses. For me the G10 and cameras like it are ideal options for day shooting when you aren’t taking things too seriously. Thanks for watching 🖖

    You shoot a lot of 'in context' human interest shots something I have always been shy of street shooting, but the long distance away from the core(human) subject seems to be the key so will have a go at it. Thanks!

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  11 месяцев назад +1

      I’m a believer of respecting an individual’s personal space, even more so since 2020, do getting back a bit and shooting longer still allows the subject to be smaller in the frame while avoiding a lot of the clutter and chaos that shooting wider can introduce. Thanks for watching 🖖

    Hi David, I am really loving your videos and your captures are really beautiful. I am gonna pursue photography and this camera is on top of my wish list. I have been wondering for awhile.... Ive seen a lot of photographers post already edited pictures with their watermarks on it, in real time during an event. So it made me wonder what kind of magic is behind all that. Do photographers carry cameras that can be connected to their phone wirelessly and edit it on the phone? Really curious.
    Would love to get an answer 🥹 Again, thank you for an awesome content!

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  5 месяцев назад +1

      First of all, thanks very much for watching. I really appreciate it.
      Regarding the watermarks happening in real time, I’d guess that it is indeed being zapped from camera to an app on some other device and applied there, but it’s not something I’ve ever done and knowing what I know about photoshop, I gave up on watermarks a long time ago as they’re very easy to remove🖖

    Hi David, new subscriber here. I'm thinking about getting one of these Powershot g line, and I can't decide between g10 and g12, maybe you could bring to me some light. PD I'm getting started in photography. Cheers.

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey, firstly, thanks for subscribing, I appreciate you being here. As for the G10 vs the G12 I can only tell you what I’ve read since I don’t own one but here’s the differences I know about. The G12 has a 10mpx ccd sensor instead of the 14.7mpx in the G10 and this was done in a bid to improve low light performance but if we’re being realistic, any camera with a sensor the size of a little finger nail is never gonna be great in the dark without a lot of help from software. It has a fully articulated screen rather than fix on the G10 and a 28-135 lens vs 28-140 on the G10.
      In reality, depending on your use, you’ll unlikely see a big difference in the images between the 2 in good light and both will be pretty awful at higher isos.
      Like I said though I don’t own the G12 but it’s not gonna be vastly different from the G10 since there’s only about 2 years between them and there won’t be a noticeable improvement in the tech.
      I hope that was helpful, have a good one🖖

    Cool little camera David! Nice that it has the RAW feature to work with. I had to watch this on my phone so a bit hard to tell, but the image quality looked great. • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah the raw files are really nice to work with and having almost 15mpx gives you a nice look. After using the GH5 , this thing feels tiny but strangely not awkward to use. Definitely worth having something like this in your collection.
      Have a good one, Paul 🖖

    Dope videos!! I have the chance to buy a G10/G9 and also a LX3 at a similar price and I'm fairly a beginner at photography. Been watching through your videos and others and cannot decide for myself. The only thing that would make me get the LX3 more than the G10(as I noticed it has better features than the LX3) is the aspect of the camera it would match with my Panasonic HDC SD-1 X( 😵 and to get the G9 or G10 would be the viewfinder. Which one do you think would give me a more pleasant time to work with and learn new photography stuff?

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  7 месяцев назад +1

      In terms of use and image quality there’s really not much between the G10 and LX3. The view finder on the G10 is a useless tiny window so I wouldn’t even consider that.
      The main differences between them are size and zoom range. The G10 gives a 28-140 range whereas the LX3 is 24-70, but the LX3 is significantly smaller and lighter.
      If I had to go with just one It would probably be the G10, sure it’s a bigger camera but that makes it a little more comfortable to use and you have the extra flexibility with that zoom range. Both are fantastic, but for the way I shoot the G10 wins🖖

    I really like that shot near the end of the blue bus that's cropped in. Also, many of these could be good as square crops I reckon. I can see album cover artwork in many of these if framed with the square crop like we discussed recently (artists like The Streets or Indie bands wanting that rural, relatable, hometown look). Or perhaps I've just got this concept in my head from missing street/city life. It's probably stuff that I'd do! 😆

      If you’re on a tripod doing long exposures at a low ISO it’s fine, but once you start pushing the iso above 400 things start to get messy. I did a video about noise reduction a little while back and I think the G10 was one of the cameras I used at high ISO if you wanted some examples.
      Edit: no I was mistaken, it was the Lumix lx3 I used in that video, so the only video that might have high ISO shots in it would be the first video with that camera about a year ago
