- Jerry Smith, or more commonly known as Doofus Jerry, was an alternative version of Jerry from Dimension J19ζ7 where he is a successful businessman. Doofus Jerry has been one of the most interesting characters from Rick and Morty comics. I noticed that no one had made a video about him and I decided to give him justice and talk about him.

I have been thinking of the “superior jerry” simply being supremely confident, capable, and fulfilled. Great dad, great husband, and forgiving and dismissive of Rick, always replying to ricks nihilistic and “enlightened” statements with simple, effective, empathetic statements that shut Rick down. That’s the real Jerry Prime.

If you think about it... canonically there should be an infinite amount of universes where Jerry is on the same level as Rick and on the same spectrum, outside of the Finite Curve... Jerry Citadels, universes where Jerry had the same story as Rick C-137 had etc.

Not necessarily, if you assume anything is possible with infinite universes there would be one where someone randomly had the capability to destroy every universe in an instant, so really it's more about what the writers want not what is theoritically the truth
@@fanrato most people who actually believe there are infinite universes (I am not one of them) believe each universe is actually created every time a choice arises. You turn left in one universe, a second identical one is created where you go right. So it's not true infinity, there is no universe where you are a god, because that could not arise from natural means in any universe.
It's all folly IMO, but not all infinites are equal. It's a concept discussed in calculus. There's an infinite amount of numbers between 2 and 3, and none of them are 4.
@@fanrato that's where multiversal constants and protecting gods are for, they usually stop that kind of possibility to happen, like how rick managed to trap infinite universes where he is the smartest from the rest of infinity, infinite universes with the possibility of either destroying it all could either not exist or never be able to reach that dude to timeline manipulation or whatever, or higher infinities shit.

In fact, in the realities where Beth does not marry Jerry, he lives pretty miserable until he has a crazy episode and comes crawling to Beth. The thing is that the Doofus reality is a reality where Jerry is naturally cruel and strong and Rick is naturally weak and stupid. The Rick Council called it Doofus because they were SO ARROGANT they couldn't believe there was a reality where Jerry was superior to Rick.

They originally called doofus Rick stupid because too them he didn't have what it takes to be an actual Rick and belittled him saying he eat shit and what not. Also Jerry in that reality as shown in the comics isn't just an apex to his Rick but all. Even c-137 Rick couldn't handle him. Another thing, the council didn't even know about that Jerry until this happened so there's no way they called doofus Rick that because his Jerry was superior.

Doofus Rick wasn't particulalrly inferior, he was still the smartest in his world but his hobbies and demeanor was different.
I like to think that he is considered to be smarter than most ricks by machines and stuff but he has some mental handicap that either uses/puts that intelligence into the wrong things or he simply doesn’t think on the level he’s capable of, and that jerry is also smarter than most ricks but he’s in the curve since he’s not technically the smartest in that universe
The other Ricks have been undermining Doofus Rick's self confidence, because he is not as miserable as them.
It seems like whoever has Rick’s personality becomes the powerful or most successful in their universe. So, doofus Jerry was the one who was born with Rick traits instead of doofus Rick in that universe

This makes perfect sense if you think about it. In the first inter-dimensional cable episode Jerry became a movie star in the reality where he and Beth broke up, in the main timeline when Jerry and Beth separated he was able to date a top tier space warrior and had a three way with both Beth’s. Jerry in reality has a lot of untapped potential, confidence and most importantly he believes in himself. The reality is Rick and Beth have held Jerry back more than we think the opposite.
its not that they held him back. he's incredibly dependent, its just his nature. So a guy like that in a world where his comfort never existed, he only understood change through strength. Its like every jerry is a spineless POS no matter what. But whether or not that spinelessness actually manifests depends on if he has a beth to saddle his emotional burdens on. If he had no such thing, him recognizing he's a naturally weak person leans into heavy success. There's no version of a single jerry that isnt rich, powerful, famous or some combination thereof. None.
The Jerry who laugh while the rick's burns
I guess the thing with doofus Jerry is that someone felt like the punching bag needed justice. However, the creators of Rick and Morty have already cemented that in the series, Jerry being anything more then a punching bag is unlikely, but in the great multiverse, there is a version that is better, however, the way the comic portrays him doesn't feel very proper, rick has body implants that make him bulletproof and he literally has god powers on his side. So watching him just get beat up by jerry and then giving up, it just doesn't really portray the character at all.

In the citadel, only seeing the weapons he smart enough to understand what each weapon can do.
And also,he is able to desarm a neutron bomb.

@@Leoooooonardo In some ways, throwing a cat at Jerry doesn't really show the scope of what Rick could have done, it would be more accurate for him to pull out some quirky gaget as we see weapons of mass destruction all around his house throughout the series.

i don't believe "doofus Jerry" will be canon, but i think the writers are preparing us for something like him. with the central finite curve destroyed, any person will have a version of themselves smarter than Rick somewhere out there. i think thats why they had "Evil Morty" explain it in such detail, then the very next season premier sort of teases that Jerry CAN be strong, and quick witted. its just too perfect. i want to see a mega genius Jerry screw with Rick Prime and Rick C137

@@yellowpig1026 this is a very peculiar case, as it makes no sense within the cannon, for reasons previously stated and numerous unstated, either this glaring plothole will be here forever, become non cannon or an omniverse could be established, setting this story in another multiverse without a central finite curve to begin with

I actually like the detail of how he gets referenced in the Tales of the Citadel episode. Most notably, when they say “It’s always us who’ve been in charge, even if it’s a Rick, a Morty, even a god damn Jerry.” I figured it was assumed they were referring to Doofus Jerry, assuming this story happened before S3 E6

I always hoped that Doofus Jerry was the one who created Evil Morty. Not even a real human, but a robot made of the grandson he never had. He made it to take revenge against ALL ricks. After seeing how his alternates were treated.

The point is that in this universe, Jerry is the Rick and Rick is the Jerry. There is no proportionality, they are opposites. So when you say "imagine how powerful Doofus Rick is", Doofus Rick is about as powerful as the average Jerry.

The portal gun is only limited to Universes where Rick is the smartest in every conceivable universe. Evil Morty couldn’t portal out and had to destroy the Central Finite Curve so he could escape. That makes me ponder why is Doofus Rick part of the realities where Rick is the smartest in the Universe when it’s actually Jerry in that reality.
From the looks of it, doofus jerry is still dumber than doofus rick, it's just that their universal dynamic of Predator and Prey is swapped. So whilst Doofus Jerry has the in universe position and success that a rick would normally have, and Doofus Rick has the equivalent that jerry would have, jerry is still not as smart as rick, since that wasn't inverted.
That's why doofus rick is able to make portal fluid yet still, whilst jerry is not

Doofus Rick is not inferior to the other Ricks; he invented ovenless brownies. The other Ricks are undermining his self esteem, because he is not as miserable at them.
Doofus Jerry is one of the most dominant Jerry of them all. He’s so intimidating,he made C-136 Rick look like a chump compare to him. Seriously I would love to see him make his debut in the next season.

Fun fact: rick actually can beat dooface jerry because in one of rick and morty episode rick was fighting pp (phonix person) and he got alot of tricks up ricks sleeve, rick pulled out so many weapons in that fight and he even uses his hidden arm weapon.

Doofus Jerry was so lucky, it was like he had a whole armory of plot armor. The other characters were basically carrying water guns in comparison. No wonder he seemed like such a stud muffin.
The central finite curve is one where the rick is the smartest in the universe, but clearly it doesnt care about timeframe since the universe exists backwards and forwards before Rick's birth and after his death, so this universe probably at one point had a smart rick that accidentally inverted his whole universe. Since a rick dominated universe existed at least once this means the central finite curve still considers the universe valid.

This arch sounds like an awesome twist to the whole idea of Rick's finite multiversal curve. He separated his infinite timelines with the rest of the multiverse to be the smartest man in the multiverse, while due to his hubris and complete dismissal of the Doofus Rick, he couldn't even imagine what kind of a monster existed in that universe. Pretty disappointing Doofus Jerry didn't appear in the mainline series.

This would actually help explain some of the extra hatred that Rick had for Jerry during the "Whirly-Dirly Conspiracy" where he specifically called Jerry a "predator".
But it wasn't just any kind of predator... it's the kind that pretends to be prey.
After watching Rick and morty for a long time I’ve come to the conclusion that jerry is my favorite character and he’s probably the most relatable and he’s not a bad person but everyone treats him like shit . I’ve been saying his arc is coming he is gonna be more important in the future. Even Rick is starting to realize something about him even if he’s just starting to like him more . I rank the characters as such , jerry , Rick , morty, summer, and then Beth being the fucking absolute worst . Summer sucks massive balls too

This is weird to me, because I thought due to what they call the central finite curve, every rick we see is from a universe where rick is the smartest person in the universe. So of doofus rick isn't the smartest person from his universe, does that mean he's from outside of it somehow? Or is he still the smartest person somehow?
Why is it that whenever there’s a badass Jerry, there is no Beth to hold him back?
So my own theory is that pretty Jerry and Beth are pretty much a feedback loop. The Beths keep the Jerrys in their respective place, while the Jerry's do the same for the Beths (as we see with Space Beth being the strongest Beth who had no Jerry). Pretty much the two or inhibititors of each other keeping the flow of the multiverse.
@@cubeman22 I believe it now honestly after seeing how both of them become when neither are in each others lives. Beth gives into her sociopathic narcissism and just becomes her dad while Jerry grows a pair and dominates everything because there is no narcissistic wife to emasculate him. They are truly a terrifying couple when that realization sets in.

Cool stuff! I never knew about this character. I only knew about Survivor Jerry. Whom I was very sad to see die. After watching this video I got a hunch that the main villain of the final seasons will be Doofus Jerry. Evil Morty and Prime Rick are going to just be sub villains. We are being lead to think Prime Rick is the big bad. Which he is in this season. After learning about Doofus Jerry, it would make sense to have him being the main boss of the entire show. The only villain above him would the essence of what makes all these characters so powerful, I.E GOD.

It's always implied that Beth and Jerry's relationship is a wife that is super strong oppressing Jerry, it's very fitting that without Beth pressing down Jerry at the first place he'll become one of the strongest man ever existed, consider how powerful Beth is Jerry is likely the only thing that could hold it and survive

I'm constantly telling people about Doofus Jerry in the RaM fandom's groups and it always suprises me how much "Rick and Morty Superfans" don't read the comics, despite them being canon.
We could have had this in the show but instead we got constant incest jokes
Theory:
In one of the episodes in Rick and Morty where they introduced the citadel and how they have a Morty market. They explain this market by introducing Jerry and Beth. now comes my theory which goes like this: so, Ricks obviously can't be dominant in every universe as shown in places like the Doofus Dimension, so every Jerry that is not introduced to Beth he becomes smarter and smarter to the point of being a predator, but Beth is a handicap to this system, it is Rick's defense. that is why Beth exists in almost every universe. some things that support my claim is that after the world was destroyed by rick and Morty, and his family (Beth & Summer) died he became independent and not a joke the only thing limiting him then was him not having access to learning new things, so he had to adapt instead. Obviously rick prime is the villain of this season so I think a Jerry might be the villain in season 8. (I personally think that space Beth will be the bad guy in season 7, because space Beth has been showing resentment towards the family lately [yes IK that Beth and Space Beth did some things but that was just lust getting the better of them] and will try and maybe kill Beth or rick again?) I might try and go more in depth on this theory somehow and update this comment or something maybe send it to matpat lmao. anyways that is my opinion share your thoughts and theories too!🤨🤨🤔🤔

i think the writers for the comics had forgotten that the doofus rick from the show is J19ζ7 and the doofus rick in this comic is from J19α7. even if they didn't forget, that should mean that the doofus jerry that died is SUPPOSED to be from J19α7, not J19ζ7
