    For reasons i do not know the men clearly did not want to run. Clearly each of them will not medal but as a team they could all come away with a medal. I agree somewhere down the road their deliberate action will come back to haunt them. Other countries field their strongest runners. They are facing the same scenario that runners from other countries are also facing. The thinking of these men is clearly warped. If it can be shown that they were healthy but refused to run the 4X4 they should not be representing the country in the flat race either.

    It would add to the athletes legacy more positively if they walk away with an Olympic medal as part of a relay team than not medaling in their individual event, so not running the relay was a self-defeating decision.

  • @mwilliams5903
    @mwilliams5903 2 месяца назад +3

    I think the top 3 from the 400m and the top two from the 400mh are just selfish. If them same runners had placed 4-5-6 palaces low or false start I guarantee they would be out there eager to run that relay. But because they secured their individual spots the relay no longer mattered. If it was the American their top 3 would be the 1st out there ready to lay it on the line for their country they are patriots that’s what was lacking from the top three and both hurdlers.
    Jamaica men’s 4x4 team from the 5 above mentioned are capable of medalling and it isn’t far fetch to think they could even have won if they were willing to dig deep n fight. Individually I don’t see any of them medalling hope I’m proven wrong .
    Even if there was disorganisation amongst athletes and coaches they should just humble themselves and look past it in and do it for their country

  • @Jarro21
    @Jarro21 2 месяца назад +2

    I think the athletes in this case are misinformed. Not sure how they'd impact their chances in the individual event by running the 4x400m. That's true only in the mix 4x400m but not the men's 4x400m which comes at the end of the championships on the final day of track and field where the individual event would have finished. Running an extra 400m on Sunday is a normal thing that athletes train for and they would have done if the 400m at trials was three rounds. I don't know for certain but when I saw the situation unfolding, I knew something was off. I ALWAYS put blame on the JAAA but maybe for the first time ever, i must say they made a good effort to assist us in qualifying and it would have icing on the cake. I don't think the athletes fully grasp what it means to make the Olympics and the more times you put on the national colors in a finals the bigger your brand so it's to their advantage as well. It's also to the advantage of the additional members of the relay pool who I'm sure are the ones who actually ran but are now not able to go to Paris.

Any of the times run post World Relays in an attempt to qualify (2:59.75 at NACAC Invitational 🇧🇸 or 2:59.87 at the National Championship 🇯🇲) would have been more than sufficient if run at that meet. The fastest time run on Day 1 which sent 8 teams to the Olympics 2.59.73. The fastest time ran on Day 2 where an additional 6 teams qualified was 2:59.95. Only being able to run 3:02.46 on Day 1 when any time faster than 3:02.10 would have qualified. Then come back and run 3:05.09 on Day 2 when all it required was to run faster than 3:02.91 in that heat.
