The 4x400 is the best Olympic event and always will be. Fight me.

Think about this: Michael Johnson, probably the best 400 runner in history, anchored the 4x400 in one Olympic Games.

Jeremy Wariner is my GOAT but I swear that I could watch Michael Johnson every day all day. I love his running style. Effortless.

They had to pull the camera so far back to catch the 2nd and 3rd place runners in the frame, it was like watching Secretariat win the Belmont.

I presume this David Grindley , The British 2nd runner got injuries or something as apparently he was the fastest British teenager ever with a time of 44.47 seconds? Yet he was never again running for Britain it seems after 1992

I was in the stadium for this, and in fact all the track evenings. A golden era of 400m running, that's for sure. Great memories from Barcelona. Feels like a more innocent time.

Whoever was responsible for conceiving that Vallmon-Watts 1-2 lineup deserves a medal. Those two were LETHAL. Same lineup the following year when they obliterated the world record again, but having the two of them lead the relay was something brilliant, especially since you’d think Watts, having won the Olympic title, would have been put up last. 43.1 for his split. Amazing

Nothing peculiar about that upright stance. Bailey used it in the 1996 100m gold win, and it was the most beautiful stride and posture ever. Michael and Donovan are beautiful to watch.

Steve Lewis was a beast. Shame that injuries cut his career short.
