- Layering more than one color underneath a faux pillow. The layering can make such a difference! Especially when using transparent colors.
I will show you two paintings, same colors, different layering.

THE SPINNER I'm using is my own design and creation. Every single work step is done by my hands and my table saw (operated by me)
I sell these on my homepage and if you want to up your game and create on big canvases, you seriously should check it out!
DISCLAIMER: It's a tool for serious artists, I always recommend getting a small , cheaper spinner to try if spinning is your thing first. After you've tried other versions, I promise you'll appreciate this guy over all of them if you work with big heavy canvasses and you spin all the time, like me.
For medium and smaller Canvasses, check out my new tiny and mighty Bäby spinner!

Yes Jessica - I’m 88. And have been painting all my adult life. Oil water encaustic - and acrylic. - after losing 4 of my adult children to cancer I had a hard time thinking creatively😐but your work and a British Columbia Canada artist. Cindy Vanderveen?have inspired me to get back in my studio. Thanks Love your work.
They're both beautiful but the first one is my favorite!
Thank you, i like how soft it is.
You are my inspiration, i,m stuck in a grief proces and this way of liquid art gives me a little spark and motivation to be creative, thank you ❤❤
I'm sorry to hear that. Grief wont go away that easy, it needs time. I'm glad you found something to distract you and help get through it. All the best
Jessica I’m in awe of this piece

@@WinterStromArt of course they are both wonderful but if I had to choose it would be #2

Wow. Amazing. You are doing things nobody else is doing and you explain everything so well.
Thanks, Leah! 🤗💕
Great lesson.
Thanks, that was a good one
I need to see the recreation of that painting in the background 😁
Which one exactly? The purple one?
@@WinterStromArt the one on the far left. I’m so intrigued, it’s fabulous. Blue, black, white and gold?
Woohoo! My baby spinner arrived! I can’t wait to try it out!
Merry Christmas to you and I hope 2023 is a fabulous year for you. Thanks again for another great video full of valuable information!
I'm so happy you received it before Christmas! Let me know how you like it, Jacki!
Very nice. I admire both. I almost missed you this evening. Just took a break from attempting an abstract in oils i nspired by Sara Taylor's video she posted this morning.
Großartig 👋👋👋
Dankeschön
Very nice.
Both pieces are BEAUTIFUL 🤩! Way to go!😘🤟❤️
So beautiful.
Absolutely amazing scoop and drag pouring. Great job Jessica👍🏻🎄⭐️🙂
Thank you so much! 😘
Those are both gorgeous and the colors were magnificent. I loved both of them.
I'm learning so much from you I appreciate watching you and sharing everything you have to say and you're just a lot of fun to watch
An absolute joy to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, Amy!
Love the second one! Love the colours!
Wow! What a great teacher you are with such clarity. The brown looking like a pillow paint but not and how you explained how the eye sees color combinations and densities. I see why you love and are so very good with this technique. Knowing tricks to manipulate outcomes in the layering, especially transparent colors like you just demonstrated in two different paintings is like watching a magician with great understanding and the ability to make stunning and profound works of art. I was glued to every word you said and listened and watched three times. Thank you for sharing 'why' things work in the way they do with swips and transfers and the art of layering transparents. Both paintings are so creative and unique to your vision giving you a recognisable style that is yours. I love that color combination you created. Thank you so much. Your students will be most fortunate to learn from and with you.💛
Both are gorgeous 😍 The paint splatters are actually cool, it didn't ruin the painting at all! Great video❤️
Very cool Jess!! I like the comparisons. Always amazed with your work!!
Thank you, Sweet lady!
I just posted some Jess inspired pieces.
I like them both but the 2nd ones is absolutely amazing 👏 😍
Your art is so beautiful 😍
Hi Jessica, I love both paintings they're gorgeous! I do love the second one it's so vibrant with the nickel azo gold. I bought a bunch of tiny canvases for practice because my scoop and drag turns into scoop and soup! You definitely have the perfect touch with the pallet knife. Happy Holidays Jessica 🎀🎁🎄
What a smart one you are as well as super talented! Can’t wait to try this as I typically use blues or neons which are mostly transparent. Thank you so very much.
I want to do that too! Use neons, I mean
I’d love to see you use neons! I sometimes add a tiny bit of white to them so they don’t get eaten up by black (or will use neon gouache)
Thank you so much for this tutorial Jessica ♥️♥️♥️ super helpful…. BTW I have had problems myself with making QNAG sound like I was swearing 😊
😊 I’m so happy I could help!
Do you have a video shaping how you created the black and white over your right shoulder?
Hi Jessica, is the black that you use on top of your pillow a regular house paint or mixed? If you mix it is it mixed like your colors? Cheers!
Nice!! How do I take a look at your spinner for large canvasses Jessica?
Thank you, Jenny! There’s a link in the description box. You find all the information and you can purchase it, too if you like it. If you have any questions shoot me a quick email. You can also use the contact form on the same homepage
I love your work❣️I have one question: do you have to use house paint as pillow or does it work with acrylic paint, artist paint?
Hi
Why not just use a black pillow?
like I was trying to explain in this video, the black behind the colors will dull the vibrancy. Only the white behind the yellow will make you see a yellow. If there was black behind it you wouldn't see it at all since its transparent.
I also do this because the white, that will shine through, brings in depth and super interesting gradients instead of just solid black
Looks like some kind of dinosaur
Love it!
Thank you!
