How the amount of the pillow paint affects your composition and how to fix it. swipe spin art

  • More stripes today with some changes. I changed my pouring medium for the lines I'm adding. All I do is leave out the varnish so my paints get heavier and denser. I want the paint to sink so it creates more distinct lines. Let's see how that went!
Also we're finding out how important the amount of pillow is for your composition.

My Pouringmedium (for the swipe paints, which I haven't actually used in this video...):
Behr Dynasty deep base semi-gloss and minwax polycrylic (roughly 2:1) from Home depot
And thinning to the right consistency with JoSonja gloss varnish (Dick blick, jerrys artsarama or Fluidart.co)
The magic juice/Cell activator is mixed with australian floetrol. (1:1)
    The colors:
CA: Amsterdam oxide black and deep gold mixed with bright gold
mixed with Behr 8300 untinted house paint
(to the consistency you want it to be)
golden fluid - naphtol medium red, carbon black

The spinner I'm using is my own design and creation. Every single workstep is done by my hands and my table saw (operated by me)
I sell these on my homepage and if you want to up your game and create on big canvases, you seriously should check it out!
DISCLAIMER: It's a tool for serious artists, I always recommend getting a small , cheaper spinner to try if spinning is your thing first. After you've tried other versions, I promise you'll appreciate this guy over all of them if you work with big heavy canvasses and you spin all the time, like me.

GREAT JOB JESSICA !!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THE BOLDNESS OF THE DEEP RED , AND ALL THE OTHER GREAT COLORS THAT BROUGHT OUT THAT RED . ITS A RICHNESS OF THOSE DEEP REDS THAT CATCH MY EYES ALOT IN YOURS ALOT , BECAUSE ALL YOUR PAINTS DO SHOW THEMSELVES QUITE RICH IN COLOR . AND I LIKE THAT THEIR A BIT THICKER TO. THE DEPTH OF THIS PIECE TRULY CATCHES THE EYE AND THAT BOLD RICH RED BUT ALSO THE DEEP DEPTH BRINGS THOSE CELLS OUT MORE TOO, AND YOU DID THE SCOOP N DRAGS I LIKE HOW THOSE WORK OUT FOR YOU IN YOUR ART . IT ADDS TO IT . I LIKE YOUR INTRO TO . HAPPY POURING

Just discovered your channel. Love your Art. Your videos are so informative I’m slowly working my way through them and trying to master the art of ‘swiping’. I live in the UK and not many of the products you use are available here such as . Behr, Gliddens, Minwax, Aussie, American Floetrol. I imported 4 galls of Aussie Floetrol and a few tins of Minwax so I’m good with that for now. Just found a single UK outlet for JoSonja varnish so will be ordering some. I’m still looking for an alternate product for the pillow as Semi-Gloss isn’t an option.

Can you share why you use house paint as your pillow base vs acrylic art paint? Just curious! Thanks

    • @WinterStromArt
      @WinterStromArt  Год назад

Hey! I use house paint as my base basically as a vehicle for my composition. It’s based on the bloom recipe that @sheleeart came up with. The house paint is thick and stretchy perfect for expanding your composition with tilting and spinning. With most of other paint or paint mixes your paints on top would just sink through it but I want it on top. I hope, I’m making sense here… I could go more into it but it might be easier if you watched my recipe tutorial. That might answer your question better…
