I'm not particularly excited for that because their demographics are totally different. In fact when there is too much attention on KH it tends to get criticized more, like imagine if there was just no other games to really talk about in 2026. But at least with GTA6 it'll filter out some of the publicity so there's mostly just people who would care about KH. I don't want it to be overshadowed but it wouldn't have with GTA because that's such a different game. But in any case I had always preferred for KH4 to be released in 2026, any earlier would have been too early and I would have worried about it being rushed.
@@omoddulus4933 You're right. Kingdom Heart is a big community/fan base but very niche. Compared to the GTA Fandom. It could do with prices also.
We all know games are hell expensive. So releasing 2 expensive games in your Christmas time. Parents/bank accounts are like you've got to choose one and not both 😆.
Hell yeah, that would truly put a smile on my face... Until something else big comes put that year to clash with things 🤔🧐🧐 IDK but it will be pretty interesting to see from here on out.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm kind of not that hyped for Kingdom Hearts 4 at the moment. I've learned from the events of the Kingdom Hearts 3 mess and have pulled myself together. I'm taking a more realistic approach and I think that will save me a lot of stress and premature anticipation. I've got my eye much more on Kingdom Hearts Missing Link. Yes, it's only a mobile game, but it has a new and fresh story and I think it's a great way to bridge the long wait for Kingdom Hearts 4.
Here's a fun thought: The success of these low cost phone games encourages these long wait times inbetween the expensive main games.
I want KH4 but I'm just mad they're not updating us. Oh well, that's their usual activity.
I hate Missing Link though, I really do. They could have made a cool AA spin off game but instead it's this mobile gacha game

This is way more torturous. I don't mind waiting, it'll be annoying but that's fine. But this radio silence when the story is going into uncharted territory and hype SHOULD be at its strongest? Silly
Based on Square's recent strategy of not starting the main promotion of a game until at least a year out from release, I am sadly more pessimistic about us getting any new KH4 trailers this year. FFXVI was announced in September 2020, the main promotion started in June 2022, and the game released in June 2023. FFVII Rebirth was officially announced in June 2022, the main promotion started in June 2023, and the game released in February 2024. If this trend continues with KH4, that could mean not getting any new trailers until 2025. That would be painful, since that would mean we'll have waited 3 years for just the next trailer. Maybe we'll get lucky and still get something for KH4 at D23, Tokyo Game Show or Jump Festa; but I'm going to temper my expectations for now.

7 years between KH3 and KH4 is wild. Melody of Memory doesn’t count cause it only added 15 min of new story. And we’ve been waiting 2 years for missing link, a mobile game. What is going on at square enix.
Feels like KH isn't that much of a priority in some way, who knows.

honestly I will always be okay with prolonged release dates due to polishing and what not, but it's so...idk disheartening sometimes these dry spells make me sad

this would only be 4 years from the offical reveal of KH4 chill. Infact that would be faster than KH3 which took five years.

The gap between KH3 & KH4 will be 7 years, ie the same amount time between DDD & KH3.
Meanwhile we got FF7 Remake & Rebirth in between those 7 years.
@@SmashBrosAssemble If you actually listened moron I said from the OFFICAL REVEAL to 2026 meaning when we first got that trailer in 2022 because that's when we actually knew it was in development. With Nomura also revealing that it began development as soon as remind was done, so that would be a 6 year gap which still does'nt defeat my point even if you still want to go there.

im 27 years old at this point, and 2026 does not seem that far away tbh
I've kind of been expecting 2026 and thought earlier than that was being overly optimistic. It makes sense that they'd at least want to have ML out and complete before KH4. I don't mind waiting that long, but I would like another trailer or some gameplay footage to hold me over. Hell, even seeing the new designs for some characters in a sketch would be enough. Just anything but radio silence.

Another thing that should be brought up too as a factor for it being a 2026 release … would be Covid. Seeing how Remind came out right before everything shut down worldwide. That’s at least two years Covid effected game developments. Which would mean what we saw in 2022 for KH4 wasn’t far in development for it just show fans what is plan ahead.
In seeing what they have been doing with FF7 Remakes, I am getting excited to see if they will apply similar things to KH series.

Actually, considering what's been going on in the greater "Square-Space" I think the "direction of the future" has to do with SquareEnix's upper management finally giving in and accepting that Console Exclusivity is NOT fisable anymore. It started hitting us now, but I think that would be about the right time.
What I think that "hit the future of Kingdom Hearts" and potentially delayed it into 26 is this; They're now trying to develop for multiple consoles/PC and not actually accepting any "I want this game just on my platform" anymore. So they're having to develop potentially multiple versions (Nowadays not a huge ask, especially on Unreal 5, but still a little bit of tweaking needed)
On the plus side, I'm totally getting KH4 for steam when it comes out, if this is the case.
This chicken better be stuffed with 4k graphics with 60fps to 120fps! 👏

I feel as though they need to take more time so they can think about like you were saying Jared the whole Saga instead of just one game title and working through that I think it's good that it'll be a while before we see a main title because that gives them the time to actually "perfect the recipe "

I’m ok with that though, more time for the game typically means a better product overall, I’ve got games to play this year and next so I’m chilling haha, if there is a 2026 release at least we can expect news sometime next year so that’s cool, let’s hang in there guys💯🫡

No but seriously tho, sure, there was a 13 year gap between II and III, but let’s always keep in mind that we also got 7 other titles in the meantime… now between III and IV that’ll be a 7 year gap with about 3 side titles (Dark Road, MoM, Missing Link).

2026 feels so late given FF7 Remake and Rebirth occurred. I'm wondering if they did indeed plan out the Saga and split KH4 and 5 or at least KH4 and Verum Rex. That has been my long suspicion, the change meant "We're doing both". Alas, restructuring is one factor. Luminous Productions, which had the old Tokyo team returning into Square Enix might have helped. At the very least, news about the franchise's plan and an update this year would be good. Then a proper blow out. I feel like even Rebirth got some stuff well ahead of launch.

I always felt it was late 2024 or early 2025 release. Until everything got pushed back a year so late 2025 or early 2026 falls in line, I think.
So basically like KH3, we get two years without news and then we are going to get a ton of trailers later on.

Unrelated but you show some KH3 combat around minute 8:17, it looks like the player is using reflect?? I'm aware this isn't a spell included in KH3 so I'm wondering what that ability is.

It's ridiculous that most games are now taking +5 years to be released. Every developer wants to release a Triple A game now. Games are taking as long as the entire console generation to be released. Will be sad if KH4 is released by the time PS6 comes out
