I want to thank my cousin for introducing this series for me, he REALLY loved this series and wanted me to get into it, sadly he took his life in 2020 and ever since I dived back into KH and falling back in love with this series, I wish he was here to see Sora come to smash, I miss you Charlie, thank you so much
I'm glad KH3 made some improvements over time and that people enjoyed it. But there are many fundamental flaws that I don't think can be fixed through patches and dlc
@@ryandemboski6313 its way too floaty imo. Kh2 was fairly floaty as needed because arial combat became really big and cool but I have genuinely tried to use ground combos and half the time it just goes into air combos naturally. Plus the story
@@ryandemboski6313 It happens in almost every series. New game releases and people start badmouthing it for "not being as good as older game". Then the next game releases and suddenly the title that was badmouthed is now great and a "classic", while the new shiny gem is not as good as it could've been. It's just coping.
Y'all wanna hear something that'll break your brains? 2024 is further away from the announcement trailer for KH3 (2013) than the announcement trailer was from the release of KH2 (2024-2013 = 11 years; 2013-2005 = 8 years).
in 2008 right after kh2 released and was hitting day one records a kh 1 themed commercial hit my tv showing kingdom hearts 3 as the logo and made me lose my mind im betting it was a instanced issue where only a tiny amount of people might of even accidentally caught it but i did and will sing that to the end of my days
Kingdom Hearts got me through some of the loneliest moments in my life. It sucked me into its crazy narrative and took me on a magical adventure and pushed me to believe friendship was attainable to a younger me who needed to know that. It was a series that helped me discover my love for drawing and writing and inspired me creatively. It introduced me to anime and gave me an interest to play other video games out there. It’s sounds super cheesy but I don’t think I’d be who I am today without this series. I’m so grateful to it and the ppl in this community who make content for giving me so many fun memories throughout the years :3
this went from a silly compilation to making me cry,im glad to have people like you in this community speaking messages of joy and sharing their experiences
For a normal fan i can see why people feel it’s not a great change, but if your hardcore playing on lv1 or pro codes ( or both) 14 super bosses that are all better then the original datas with amazing tracks is like 40 hours of crazy good game play,, it fukin feels amazing facing the xehenort dm or perfecting yozorza … limit cut is a love letter to kh2fm and if they just released that No game no story on I’d still feel the wait was worth it ..
Hey, I’m just replying here because I felt lead to share the gospel. Please consider the message I write. To anyone reading this, There is a loving God who wants to know you and save you. Jesus died on the cross and resurrected so we can be forgiven of our sins and be saved. Repent and believe the Gospel! Please consider the state of your soul. Believe in Jesus, turn away from your sin and follow Him so you may have salvation. Life is short, please make the right choice today!
Loved hearing from you directly. Thanks for opening up. I have been here since Road to Kingdom Hearts 3. Watching videos with your family talking in the background. I was a sophomore in high school watching you talk about preparing for college, and now I am in my second year of grad school myself. ❤
I've seen several videos talking about the game positively. I think most of the initial reception was just a knee jerk reaction due to years of speculation and hype. While flawed, I personally put it second place after KH2. If I wasn't biased and KH2 wasn't my favourite game of all time, KH3 would be at the top for sure.
All of these games are the same when it comes to story and writing. Kh1 was the best and all others was incoherent trash. I enjoy all of the games, while noting why some suck and KH3 and 2 were no different to me.
Great video man, I had to like it twice. I just get goosebumps knowing that someone out there shares the same feeling for the series as I do. May your heart be your guiding key!
Just want to say I appreciate you for always being honest yet cool. You were one of the few khtubers that tackled the issues in the original base game of KH3 instead of ghosting and ignoring them completely like some others. Love your content.
I grew up with the Kingdom Hearts series being a huge part of my life. I remember after getting my first device with access to RUclips, I began watching you in the beginning of your Kingdom Hearts 2 playthrough on the road to Kingdom Hearts 3. Coming home after school each day to watch your videos was so exciting. I continued watching until you deleted your last channel, which deeply saddened me because at that point you had become my favorite RUclipsr. But when you returned as Sir Skyward I was so excited, but you seemed different, almost as if you didn't really want to be back. But now, you seem genuinely happy to be making these videos again. I'm glad you're back!
The ReMind DLC was just a pure loveletter to the fans. Packed with a overwhelming amount of fan-service for hardcore fans. I would say KH2 FM is my favourite too, but the ReMind DLC itself was peak Kingdom Hearts.
I remember playing KH3 at the same time I had an annual pass for Disneyland. I remember playing in these Disney worlds in the game then just going to Disneyland and imagining how KH could be integrated within the parks. I’m still not the biggest fan of KH3’s story, but I still have very fond memories of playing
Honestly, playing KH3 seems like the better value than Disneyland these days. Virtual, yes. But everything functions. There's a diverse array of activities, the worlds are big, and you aren't overpaying for anything.
@@going2021 I agree with you. The Disney components were the only good parts of it, but even those were average. KH1 did the best with Story x Disney imo
@GxCrEaTiioNz some people did yeah. I didn't own every single console that these games were released on. As I kid I didn't even understand the story as much as I do now but I didn't need to back then.
I really appreciate this video Sky! I was and still a huge fan of yours since back in the day and felt really sad when you left youtube. I'm glad to see your love for KH has come back stronger than ever and that you're able to do videos like this again! I hope to see you continue to grow into an even better content creator!
I remember the first time I heard about kingdom hearts, I joined the fandom quite late, but I can't imagine my life without it now, seeing that KHIII was 5 years ago already is so confusing for me, it feel too far to be real, thanks to this game I met my best friend and a group of friends that change my perspective of life and helped me grow. I even remember when I used to play union X, this game brought so many people together, and I can't see how my life would have been without all this I haven't played in a while, a lot time even, but seeing your video reminded me somehow why I love this game, and why I always will
Since KH4 was announced I have activley been replaying all of the Kingdom Hearts games. So much so that I hunted down every physical copy I can get of the original releases and not just watch the DS games as movies. I even fullfilled a life long dream of getting the original JP releases as well the original Final Mix games. Kingdom Hearts has been a huge part of my life and has taught me that friends are just as important as family, and can even be more important then family itself. I didn't have a great childhood cause of family but KH helped me through a lot of it. I owe alot to this series and the friends I have made along the way with it.
Kh defined my adolescence years. Now playing kh3 with my 5 year old has been so much fun. Kh1 and 2 are so important to me. Playing 3 with my kod just brought the whole thing together for me. You said kh3 is now your favorite game with that new kh3 music that just cut through me the first time i heard it. Now everytime i hear it. Kh3 is absolutely amazing and i will look back on it with great nostalgia in the future. And so will my son.
I remember launch of KH3, my GF and I went to a midnight release. Got in and out with steelbook and listened to music from the series together, got home, put it in the PS4 and cried a lil bit, reflecting on my life.. I was 12 when KH2 came out.. 26 when 3 dropped and I felt my inner childs joy.. it was awesome
I had a friend in elementary school that sadly I am no longer that close with introduce me into the series through talking about it constantly. He eventually convinced me to play Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS which I got on Christmas. While not my favorite game in the franchise it holds a special place in my heart because of those fond memories with him as it stayed with me and I eventually got to play through the entire series through the collections and the use of emulation for the DS titles which made me love the franchise to this day. But enough of my rambling I loved watching this video dude keep up the good work and I pray that you grow bigger and bigger. God bless ❤️🙏🏾
I wouldn't call it mid at all 😅. There was soooo many great moments I wanted and got. The conclusions to most of these characters story was wonderful. If I was to rate it, I'd say it was 7.5/10. Remind made it even great imo. The extra story, the difficulty, new abilities, weapons, boss fights, new bit and crumbs leading to what comes next. Easily a 9/10 with Remind. I go back and forth with either KH3R or KH2FM is my favorite 😅
I loved walking the road to kh3 with you on your old channel and you did help me as well, I'm just glad your doing better mentally. And I'm glad your back I will be glad to stick by you till the end. Though I was a different person then literally
Love this video man, this makes me so happy and proud!! KH3 Re:mind and it coming to pc has easily made it my favorite game to replay- gosh the mods make it so fun lol and the combat- amazing
Here's my KH Story: When I first met my best friend in high school, I learned she had a brother named Axel, and so I brought Kingdom Hearts 2 to her house the next time I came over, and let her play through the opening levels, eventually lending her the game. 16 years later, we're still best friends, and she walked down the aisle to "Dearly Beloved" when she got married last year. ♥ It's a series that is very dear to me, and it fills me with joy when I find things like this, celebrating KH3 for what it is, not tearing it down for what it isn't.
Im a mid 20 year old dude and been a hardcore fan for about 11 years now and you made me burst out crying with how beautiful you speak of the franchise. And im so happy there are so many people who share this love for the franchise or should i say "disease". Thank you so much for doing what you love and sharing it with us because in all honesty we are all like a family when it comes to Kingdom Hearts. May your heart be your guiding key SkywardWing❤

October the 24th 2018, London comic con I cosplayed as Sora from kingdom hearts 2 for my birthday and I loved every second of it, I’ve played literally all the games and fully completed them on every difficulty, I literally grew up with it and I’ve loved how much the franchise has grown and I can’t wait for the next big game, growing up I’ve always said to myself “ my your heart be your guiding key” before it was ever in the games so to hear it being said made me cry because it felt like a part of me was in the game even though I had nothing to do with making it, I’m a fan always and forever and nothing will ever change that can’t wait for kingdom hearts 4
i think my best kh memory is the final boss sequences when fighting Xemnas, like all of them from start to fin was some of the best moments ever and have left the biggest impact on me epsecially the sora and riku part at the very end. lol its almost up there with goku turning ss1 lol or ss3 also glad u back bro i always loved ya videos
*My KH story* Kingdom hearts I was the first and last video game my father got me before he passed away. He worked his butt off to get my sister and I a ps2 and Kingdom Hearts. He was a southern cowboy type and barely knew about video games and stuff like that so it was just chance that he chose KH, or so I thought. “Destiny is never left to chance” when I saw that quote it triggered something in me. I had a brief moment and was able to remember my fathers voice for the first time in over a decade. It wasn’t chance, he was meant to be my father and I was meant to play Kingdom Hearts. The lore around hearts, memories and love helped me deal with the grief of losing my father. My grandfather as well, as he took his own life 6 months after my father passed. I would not be alive today without this series(and Christina Aguilera, unrelated I know lol)
Hey Sky! KH was my impulse birthday purchase at Walmart in 2002. I had saved my birthday money up that year instead of spending it around my actual B-day (February birthday). I perused the Walmart ps2 section and was drawn to the cover. At 9 years old, it has been the best gaming decision I ever made. My folks didn't buy use a memory card for our ps2 (they didn't know what all to buy). I spent weeks replaying into traverse town until I saved money up from doing chores. I have such a nostalgia blast playing KH 1. This game changed my life, and I love that there is a beautiful community that I'm able to share my love for it with.
It's funny because, when kh3 came out, I wasn't really feeling it because I was fresh off kh 2.5 so i kept comparing it to that. And storywise, 2 is still superior for me. However years later I decided "let me just play KH3 as it's own game and not fast track the story and just actually play it for what it is and tbh, it's my favorite combat personally. And as a game, it's a really fun game! I actually ind myself playing 3 more than 2 because of the quality of life changes. And shoot, even the Gummi ship stages I had a blast creating ships and it was really fun! Glad to see someone sharing in that sentiment finally.
My Kingdom Hearts memory is when Kingdom Hearts 3 was less than a year away from release, everybody on Twitter was sharing trailers of the game, all excited and stuff, while there I was thinking "Man if I were a KH fan, I'd be super hype right now" and decided eff it and binged the entire series from start to finish on PS4 during the entire summer of 2018. Joined the hype train for KH3. Played it on release and loved it, a satisfying conclusion to the series that has been hyped up for over a decade. ReMind made me revisit the game, and I loved it all over again.
Difference is both of those games FELT complete. I never felt anything was lacking in KH1 and 2. I never felt like the game was a giant advertisement for new Disney media and products. KH3 felt incomplete, like a huge chunk of story was missing. The fact that most of the journey was for Sora to learn the power of waking, and he didn't learn it, but was granted it from Ventis, was a slap in the face. I mean the world's (aside from Toy Story) weren't in any real danger. They were hostage worlds I'm case Sora & Co decided to not show up for the fight. In the first 2 main entries, you could see the danger. Your friend was a target for nobodyfication. Multiple worlds in general were in danger of becoming heartless/nobodies. While 3 was like, just show up for the brawl bro.
KH defined a good chunk of how my brothers and I grew up. KHII was a big one for us, the memories we share of seeing things for the first time or learning small bits of lore behind the FF characters. We're just three dudes now, well into our 20's, but KH is something that has always brought us back together. A core memory of that was when my younger brother texted me one night to hang with him as he was house sitting for a friend. His PS4 was up and he was going through KHII fighting Xigbar. He was way too drunk to continue so he asked me to take over. We sat and talked about it for a bit until he passed out but it was the first good memory of us in quite a few years. Nowadays we'll occasionally get into lore talks with friends who are unfamiliar with the games and it's a lot of fun.
@@darkscoutergamer6168 they're like a group of KHtubers that used to do stuff together. TheGamersJoint, SkywardWing, and a couple other guys (I don't remember because I never was into the other 2 imo). From what I gather, they've kinda all drifted away and haven't hung out much, but I don't know much more than that lol
oh I got so emotional watching the recap of your old channel. I grew watching your “journey to KH3” because I was never able to afford the other games. It was what helped me get into KH and what kept me so excited to see KH3 too. You’re a pivotal part of my childhood so thank you 🤍
Glad I'm not the only one who felt a little depression after graduating college. Never used to understand that until the world became so much bigger. I fondly remember the road to KH3! Thanks for your time, and your renewed passion Sky. You may be using a new pair of wings these days but you're still flying high.

@@asahii8409 have you really played a bad game? Like a really bad game? Kh3 vanilla isn’t perfect, but again with mods it’s pretty close. To say it’s aweful is delusional, just because it didn’t meet your perfect standards. Don’t forget that Osaka team learned a lot and kh4 will probably be better. They heard our complaints. The first time I beat the original KH, the final cutscene rolled and when Kairi said “I know you will” and Simple and Clean started playing I absolutely LOST it
In my opinion, I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts 3 in terms of being an overall satisfying conclusion to the Dark Seeker Saga as well as being consistent with the overall story and lore of the franchise! But at the same time, there are some things I thought could’ve been better like making the coliseum accessible as well as reusing He’s a Pirate 🏴☠️ during the POTC world. But still, it was an enjoyable experience! I still give it a 7.5 out of 10 stars!
Excellent video man! I’ve been watching for years and gotta say. I’m a huge fan of your work and I’d love to see more!!! Thank you for taking us along the journey with you
Based on this video, this game had more of a positive personal impact on you which is great, but this game is objectively disappointing as a kh fan - feel like no matter which DLC they release or whatever fan MOD is made, that doesn't change the fact game itself did not live up to so many possibilities. The game got tooo toooooo disney and less kingdom hearts
I remember watching your video of Kingdom Heart 1.5 when I was in middle school, now I am a grown adult thank you for being part of my childhood. I remember seeing there was no critical mode and remember being extremely unleveled like being lvl 35 at the keyblade graveyard and die only once and Im not one who must have difficulty to enjoy the story but if I only die once when being extremely underlevel means something.
Finally, i never though KH3 was that bad, i don't think it's the best in the series but a long way from being bad and i think that all of the terrible games that has been coming out really shined a light on how good KH3 ACTUALLY is😊

I got so many kh stories... As a kid seeing the trailer being so enamored by what I was seeing and begging for it till I got it on my bday. Playin thru kh1 in 02-03 was something else. No other game was really like this. So cinematic, with gameplay that made my pre-teen eyes bleed for hours. Playing the game thru nights where my parents were fighting and this game transported me to another world. It was so enchanting, and I just wanted to be Sora so badly. To be able to leave my island and go on adventures. I would love to just spectate a young me playing that game, just to see that joy
KH2 is by far the most culturally impactful game for me growing up. The hype in 8th grade the day that game came out was insane. And the way it paid off all the hype was truly special. Have never had a game land quite the same way.
I really enjoy KH3. I play it to this day. Thay being said, to me it's pretty disappointing from a content and story perspective. The content is definitely better with the DLC and PC mods. But why do we need mods to play large sections of the game as other characters? The total playtime of characters other than Sora is maybe about an hour and thats really too bad considering a Fragmentery Passage exists. The other characters are fleshed out with everything from combos to abilities to specials yet we only play as them for an average of 2 quick boss battles each. Its really a waste.
When I was a young lad and first got a PS2, one of my best friends lent me his copy of KH2 and it was amazing. I remember being excited for Birth by Sleep but not being able to play it or any of the spinoffs, and then slowly forgetting about the series as the PS3 generation came and went without a mainline entry. Then a few years ago, when KH3 finally came out, I decided I'd play through the whole series to catch myself up, which unfortunately hit more than a few setbacks. But I'm back at it now and nearly through KH2, and even started streaming my silly adventure to craft the Ultima Weapon and all that fun stuff I know you guys have probably all been through too (and looking up guides is probably what got me to this channel!). I'd love to be able to chat with other fans about what I might play next, and see if anybody wants to watch me fumble my way through BBS or 3D or 359.2 Fragments or whatever else comes next!
@@AngelBatistaa Yeah, the only way KH3 could be redeemed is if they fundamentally changed the base game and story on a huge scale. So, hearing they just added a post game and a higher difficulty doesn’t change anything. Clickbait video.
The best week of my life has to be summer of 2018. Got to spend time with my dad for a couple days, went to the first ever Smash Ultimate Invitational, but before those things, I was able to take a good friend of mine to the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra. Hearing all the amazing music, Getting a sneak peak at Toy Story's overworld and battle themes, and of course...finally getting the release date of the game a day before everyone else. Heck I even met HMK and you briefly that night. Was so dope!
So, when KH3 was released I was SO SAD with all the reviews (didn't watched many 'cause I didn't wanted to have a bias playing first time). And I don't have a PS or Xbox so had to wait for PC release anyways, glad I did. This game is fucking amazing (haven't tried other difficulties, just Critical), I haven't finished yet (just got to Keyblade Graveyard) and its one of my favorites ever!
KH III with ReMind DLC is the best in the series. The reason why it lost some magic is because of its marketing….. the marketing team literally ruined all the surprises revealing everything before release which was stupid
I had a level critical 1 playthrough lined up an ready for the DLC. The data fights and yozora were fire but I'll never forgive them for making me suffer through the nort court again.
As somebody who was a KH fan since the of 5 I've grown with this series as well. Your speech about how much KH meant to you is very important, that's why media like this is so important. Other last few years my dad been giving me Kingdomeh earts style gifts in the form a custom clock and even a full wall decall. This series is important because it brings people together.
Re:mind ain't great, your first point being how it "recontextualizes" parts of the story is kinda weak. I dunno, maybe it's a generational thing, but I feel anyone who, ya know, knew who Aqua was already had that context. It just spoonfeeds it instead, which makes the story seem a lot more shallow. The ending adds to that. The problem with KH3's story was mostly the lack of story, not the lack of understanding it. As in a majority of the game was just Disney Movie with small bits of KH every like, 3 or 4 worlds. Overexplaining and "filling gaps" just makes it seem... smaller? Simpler for sure. With a $30 pricetag, it is criminal to compare it to the Final Mix games, which added more without requiring buying a new DLC. If you bought the Remix collections or Final Mix, you got multiple games with a ton of extra content for the price of a single game. Not at all comparable to paying $90 for something with arguably less content than even ONE entry in those collections. KH3 coming to PC (Epic Games Store, gross) is a terrible point because... so did the other games. This doesn't make me wanna play KH3, it makes me wanna go back and play the others now that everything is again on one platform. I went into this video hoping for a reason to get back into the game, but honestly the only good thing was the Critical Mode, which I already played. it is not an entirely new experience compared to launch, a lot of the problems with the vanilla game are still there, even Critical with the DLC.
It’s crazy because over the years I heard a lot of ppl complain about KH3 but I never got to play it until now and loving it. I seen the complaints but never had issues with what was said. The only thing I can say that I wasn’t to crazy about was the story which wasn’t great nor bad just ok but that’s about it. Everything else I’m enjoying it and can’t wait till part 4!
I know I'm kinda late to this video, but my experience with this franchise started with my best friend of 15 years introducing it to me back around when bbs and 358/2 days came out. Recently he passed away from suicide and I've been so distraught ever since. 5 months later and I'm just now starting to get back into watching videos about KH again.. I don't even think I can still play the game. Let alone KH 4 whenever that releases. Hopefully I can lol
I’m sorry, but the game was never mid. Did the launch version have problems? Sure. But so did the vanilla kh1 and kh2. Remind and critical mode just made the game go from good to great. I said what I said
It was definitely mid. The first time I played 1 & 2, I absolutely loved them. Maybe the reason it was mid for most people was because it didn't meet the hype we all gave it leading up to its release.
No it was straight up underwhelming. Most bosses were killed through spamming magic and the flow and build up was undermined with attractions. Sorry but in comparison with how cinematic 2 felt with command triggers, it was really really hollow and underwhelming.
Agreed story was a massive let down in 3. Critical mode and the Data fights saved the game for me. I’m more into the series for the combat and Disney stuff so I love 3.
I remember playing KH3 when it first came out. It was an okay experience, because I was thinking that I had to unlock Critical Mode being unaware that it wasn't even in the game. When it did come out, I started a New Game, and holy moly did the game put me in my place! By the time I got done with my first visit to Twilight Town, I had died at least 60 times. I might have continued on with it had Square Enix not made a super awesome April Fools' Day video that drew me to the juggernaut that is Final Fantasy XIV. I did play Re:Mind when it came out and enjoyed it, but I never truly came back to KH. I think it's time I remedy that.
KH3 was alright, but still not better than KH2 which after all this time we waited, was the biggest disappointment to me. It’s flashy no doubt but never felt quite as good to play. Speaking of time waited, they had alll those years to cook up some heat and we got that weak story? Bruh
After Re:Mind was added, yes. VANILLA VERSION WAS WAY TOO EASY. I beat it on the highest difficulty (I believe it was Proud Mode) and remember pausing it after defeating final boss fight in the main story. I called it a night. Booted up my pS4 after work and continued the cutscene just to find out, I BEAT THE GAME IN 41 HOURS and I came out asking myself "I was waiting over a decade for THIS?!?!?" CRITICAL MODE wasn't even a thing until around the release of Re:MIND. I graduated university when it released. Paid $60 at launch and beat it in less than a week. I shouldn't even be able to beat a game that quickly. Even God of War 2018 took me 3 weeks because I just kept exploring and leveling up.
Honestly I felt like there was way too much extra stuff in it. They should have just left it alone in terms of attacks, the different forms for sora was great. All the extra stuff they added made KH3 not fun at all to me. Which sucks because I absolutely love kingdom hearts
There's a lot of things the old kingdom hearts games had the new one doesn't. Kingdom Hearts 3 is less of a kingdom hearts game than 1 or 2. I would go into the details but don't feel like it's worth it.
When I was a kid I simply could not afford a PS2 and I was jealous on my friends who could actually beat the game. Only once I've managed to borrow a PS2 for a few days and could play up until mid Deep Jungle. Then I simply didn't have time. Now I'm 36 and so happy I have lots of time to play the series and very surprise how the story hooked me up!
Thats, great and sad. KH1 was magical to me from the age of 10-12 it's so nostalgic coming back to it, doing a full playthrough of the series now. I never actually played kh3 though and I'm loving it right now. (31 years old)
I think it's worth remembering, KH2 on base was a pretty empty game compared to KH1. It wouldn't be until we FINALLY got KH1/2FM that we finally got these big games and that's where KH2 became the titan it is today, but not before then for many of us. KH2 had no replay value, the only superboss you could fight was a 1 and done, no rematches like KH1 where you could fight Ice Titan and Sephiroth as much as you want, in KH2 you had to have a separate save to clap the cheeks of Sephiroth on proud cause that's all we had. I remember finishing KH2 2 days before release in the US because the game store I got it from was selling it early, so I went in and beat the game in 25hrs with Ultima Weapon included. I finished 100% the game by about 32 or 33hrs and felt REALLY empty. Mind you I was like 16 or so when this happened. KH1 took forever in comparison and I'm not even including the Ansem-Riku fight as that, just that the pacing and exploration made it bigger compared to the linear game that was KH2. KH2FM is still very linear at the end of the day but at least in terms of combat you get to flex in the data fights. But by the time we got these data fights A FULL 8 (almost 9) YEARS LATER in NA! I'd be in my early 20s now by the time we FINALLY got even 1.5, and then 2.5 later on. For the longest time my most replayed games for KH were KH1 and KH Re:CoM cause KH2 just felt so played out, nothing felt challenging. And with RUclips showing the FM versions but being inaccessible made it more disappointing. So when KH3 ended up being a game without the data fights I was fine because once again this was the norm. And knowing we were getting Re:Mind later on, and it being DLC meaning I didn't have to buy it AGAIN like FM, made it better, just continuing where I left off. I can't say I was ever disappointed by KH3, especially because we waited just under a year (363 days) to get Re:Mind, which makes it the shortest wait time for us to get a FM game, which prior to would be BBS FM (2010 on PSP and 2014 in 2.5). I'm hoping that KH4 does avoid having no replayability because something KH1 did right (and especially KH1FM) was make each choice have leveling feel different, creating a different experience for each playthrough, something KH2 and KH3 lack in the base and even complete versions. At least KH2 and KH3 complete have the data fights to make up for lack of leveling experience
I was so hyped for KH3, my big issues were the same ones you had but i haven't played it since 2019. I've been on the fence on getting the dlc for a while, but watching this video now I'm going to get it when it's on sale and hope it'll be better than the vanilla version.
Glad you're doing well and have a fresh outlook. Being a part of the KH community and keeping up with you and the other X keepers has definitely helped me through some times. So thanks for what you do, and no pressure going forward lol Its important for creators to know when to focus on themselves
I had never heard of the KH series until a couple of days after the second game had come out. I went on holiday with my cousin's to the countryside of Cornwall Great Britain and my cousins decided to bring their PS2. It was on that day that I saw the Sephiroth fight for the first time. It was on that day that kingdom hearts changed my life forever. As soon as I got home from my holiday, I went straight to my nearest game store and bought both games. Here I am, almost 20 years later at the age of 29, still playing them and loving it on my ps5. These are the kind of games I'd show my children, just to keep the passion for it alive
honestly my favorite kingdom hearts memory has to be sora in smash. and yes i know its not a KH memory specifically but hear me out. I didnt actually get into KH until after that reveal, but seeing the hype surrounding it and just the feeling the trailer evoked from me made me so intrigued i couldnt help but play it for myself. it was such a magical moment that i even started crying a bit during the trailer even though i didnt know sora yet. the music hit a certain childhood wonder and nostalgia bone for me. and being able to look back at that moment after playing the games is such a magical experience too. overall just such an important moment in my KH journey
For a bit of context, I HAD a brother who lived with a reverse circulation in his blood, making his nails and usually pink pigments in his body bluish. KH2 was the first game he ever finished. It was cinematic for the both of us. Looking at him at the last boss and silently rooting for him, seeing him go all out until that moment when Xemnas bombarded Sora and Riku with the lazers. He told me he couldn't do it. He called to me to help and I did. I smashed the Triangle button while he did with the X, like Sora and Riku did and in the moment the control was passed to Riku, he tossed me the controller. He trusted me like how Sora did with Riku and I got him out of that bind. The rest of the fight was all him and it was glorious. I just wish he got to play KH3.
The days when I would be stressed out just to throw on the road to kingdom hearts 3 series honestly just hits different those videos where legit therapeutic thanks for the good memories sky
I thought the same exact feelings when I first played the game and I never picked up the controller to play it again since but after watching this video you might restored my faith in a lost pastime of mine. THX
Some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing kingdom hearts was playing along side you during the road to kh3. At this point I was engaged and didnt have my a kid yet. I would get home from work and play alongside your videos for a couple hours before bed and it was just like playing with my best friend who introduced me to the game when I was kid. Awesome vid, Sky. So happy it's gotten so many views. I love KH, I love KHIII, and I love you. Here's to may years of SkywardWing and many more years of Kingdom Hearts.
3:09 wrong, you don't do half the damage on Critical, you do 1.5x damage. half damage would be 0.5x the reason they allow you to do slightly more damage on Crit is for balancing purposes.
I really have to thanks to kingdom hearts because it helped me pass trough a really difficult part of my life, where I didn’t knew if I was good enough at school, if I was doing enough in everything, the kingdom hearts franchise when I repicked it up I felt real good, it gave me the determination to pass trough that period of my life. It introduced me to anime and gave me an interest to play other video games out there. we finally have a video complimenting KH3 instead of crapping on it relentlessly
Fr
I've seen several videos talking about the game positively. I think most of the initial reception was just a knee jerk reaction due to years of speculation and hype. While flawed, I personally put it second place after KH2. If I wasn't biased and KH2 wasn't my favourite game of all time, KH3 would be at the top for sure.
There's positive vids out there one of the biggest is kingK vids defending it for almost 2 hours
I still hate it but at the same time I liked it since release ,like 65% hate it and 35% love it,but if I wanted to be harsher let's just say 75/25
Yeah like FINALLY Lingering Will has another contender for the best superboss in the whole series with Yozora
Kh3 was just bad in general I wouldn’t say horrendous but not good

Since KH4 was announced I have activley been replaying all of the Kingdom Hearts games. So much so that I hunted down every physical copy I can get of the original releases and not just watch the DS games as movies. I even fullfilled a life long dream of getting the original JP releases as well the original Final Mix games. Kingdom hearts I was the first and last video game my father got me before he passed away.

Agreed! 👍
Same!
If Square wanted us to like KH3, they should have released the full game at launch.
U can say the same thing for kh2, kh1 and bbs
Those games came out 17, 14, and 9 years before KH 3. You’d think by the 4th try they’d learn their lesson.
They shouldn't have made it an Epic exclusive for over three years.
??? Confused how is this different then the others

I'm definitely a kh fan for life. Ever since kh1 was released, I have been hooked ever since
I really enjoy KH3.
So the game is good because they added critical mode and a post game...?
Nah adding disney world attraction attacks and removing FF characters killed the entire game.

It was already great. Never mid.

it was mid as fuck. The DLC took it from mid to very good at best.
I said what I said
and ur 100% correct lol str8 facts
It was definitely mid. The first time I played 1 & 2, I absolutely loved them. Maybe the reason it was mid for most people was because it didn't meet the hype we all gave it leading up to its release.
No it was straight up underwhelming. Most bosses were killed through spamming magic and the flow and build up was undermined with attractions. Sorry but in comparison with how cinematic 2 felt with command triggers, it was really really hollow and underwhelming.
I was along for the ride with you sky from the beginning fam, and feel the way you do. I’m excited for KH4.
Kh3 was still such a disappointment when compared to the first two games. Made me lose interest in the overall story
Agreed story was a massive let down in 3. Critical mode and the Data fights saved the game for me. I’m more into the series for the combat and Disney stuff so I love 3.
Consider this, with three that overall story is done and now they're beginning a new story with KH4
Bruh
My wife and I are playing through KH3 now for the first time. Good to know to get the real experience we should buy Re mind. Thanks a lot
Nah this game still felt terrible half way through and i played both main series games before that as a kid. Still a disappointment no matter what
How you defeated yazora in Kingdom hearts 3 please make a video on how to defeat him in easiest way
Kh3 is good, idk what people are on about.
Did u play vanilla version?
I just platinumed kh2 and during the Xaldin fight on critical mode Mickey saved me seven times in one battle.
KH3 is pretty garbage though
This game kingdom hearts 3 made my entire life dude & especially grown a lot me.
I was so hyped for KH3, my big issues were the same ones you had but i haven't played it since 2019. I've been on the fence on getting the dlc for a while, but watching this video now I'm going to get it when it's on sale and hope it'll be better than the vanilla version.
I'm glad to see you back in the helm Skyward! Now to make a journey myself for the love of all video games and other media outlets!
I didnt actually get into KH until after that reveal, but seeing the hype surrounding it and just the feeling the trailer evoked from me made me so intrigued i couldnt help but play it for myself. it was such a magical moment that i even started crying a bit during the trailer even though i didnt know sora yet. the music hit a certain childhood wonder and nostalgia bone for me. and being able to look back at that moment after playing the games is such a magical experience too. overall just such an important moment in my KH journey
you were not the only one on the ground having a excitement attack at the kdh3 trailer reveal lol I was on the ground with you
For a bit of context, I HAD a brother who lived with a reverse circulation in his blood, making his nails and usually pink pigments in his body bluish.

At this point I was engaged and didnt have my a kid yet. the reason they allow you to do slightly more damage on Crit is for balancing purposes.
