- How to Prepare for a Termite Fumigation
1. Carefully read the occupants fumigation notice and all disclosures documents.
2. Remove all people and pets from the property. Fish must be removed. However, the water in fish tanks may remain.
3. Remove all interior plants and those under patio covers or on attached decks/balconies. Cut back shrubbery and tree branches to prevent damage. Allow enough space for the tent to fall freely to the ground. Tree limbs growing over the roof must be trimmed back. Thoroughly water the ground around shrubs and plants located adjacent to the structure.
4. Remove or bag all food, feed, drugs, or medicines that are not sealed in glass, plastic or metal bottles, jars, or cans with the original manufacturer's airtight seal intact. This includes items in the refrigerator and freezer, medicines, spices, and opened liquor bottles. Only special NYLOFUME® bags may be used for bagging.
5. Keys must provide access to all areas within the structure being fumigated including garages and rooms that are normally locked. Any vehicles left inside must have the windows down and trunk and glove compartment open. File cabinets, desk drawers, safes etc... must be left unlocked to allow for inspection and proper aeration.
6. Ensure electricity and water are on at your property for the entire duration of the fumigation. Turn off air conditioning units. Turn off exterior lights and those that are on timers. Turn off burglar alarms or make specific arrangements with our company on how the alarm may be set.
7. Natural gas service is shut off by the gas company before fumigation. Normally, our company schedules gas shut off for our customers. In addition, unless otherwise advised, all customers must schedule their own gas restoration appointment.
8. Remove all baby mattresses and change stations. Remove all plastic covers enveloping other mattresses. Leave all drawers, cabinets and storage areas slightly open. Clear away storage or items from windows to allow access.
9. Remove all valuables from the property. We do not provide on-site security. As such, neither the prime contractor nor our company shall be responsible for any loss or damage due to burglary, theft, vandalism, or other acts of third parties. Windows must be left open to allow proper ventilation of your property. We take measures to deter access: however, these measures will not prevent unlawful entry by determined criminals. We encourage you to consider contracting on-site security for further peace of mind
during the process.
10. Retract all awnings. Where practical remove all obstructive articles, such as antenna guide wires, satellite dishes or weather vanes.
Obtain written authorization from your neighbor (s) if tenting will require entrance/access into your neighbor's yard.
12. California Law requires that operable windows be open a minimum of 3 inches during fumigation. TTC recommends using window locks or dowels to prevent windows from opening more than 3 inches.
Note: When returning home there is no need to wash dishes, clothing, furniture, etc..

No sound ? But I was able to read the document . Thank you .
What about food like meats that have been vacuum sealed like in a Foodsaver?
What about sealed chips in the foil bags? or tuna in those sealed pouches?
Nic nac on fire place, Counter top stuff pans under stove, can I slide stuff on kitchen table, is there powder left on sofa furniture, will I be wiping everything down
Do I need to take out my bed desk top computer TV or couch out aswell?
Why does my LG refrigerator NOT work after the fumigation?
What about coffee makers, food processor, toaster, microwave? Should they be bagged? What about sheets and towels? I read that some people who tried their clothes on after using Vikane, broke out in a rash. Also that the gas can get trapped in your stove and when you turn it on, get blasted by the remaining Vikane gas. It can also get trapped in the electric outlets and trapped in insulation, plastics, mattresses, cushions, pillows, sleeping bags, ventilation ducts and closed-in spaces. These residual amounts of gas can be hazardous to your health, especially young children and the elderly.
Great questions. I too like to know.
Thank you for the information. Do opened contact lenses solution need to be bagged?
Hello, No, you just bag things that you eat or drink.
What about shampoo bottles or body soap?
They didn’t provide bags.

Hahah dummy
@St Matthew As if you have any kids that you didn't run out on and created a government funded baby mama and future prison ward... lol

1. Do unopened natural 1 gallon of water in plastic bottle & San Pellegrino mineral water in plastic bottles need to be bagged? 2, Does 6 pack of beer in glass bottle need to be bagged? Thanks.
Natural water in plastic bottles, including San Pellegrino mineral water, does not need to be bagged. Likewise, a 6-pack of beer in glass bottles that's sealed in the original manufacturer's airtight packaging does not require bagging.
Thank you.
Great video, but what about plastic cups, paper plates, toilet paper and napkins? Some of these come with their outer bags with small holes in them already?
You do not need to bag or remove plastic cups, paper plates, toilet paper and napkins.
Do we need to bag clothes. Does it effect any electronics. My apartment is having this done soon until turning off power as well.
Hi John, You do not need to bag clothes. Fumigating doesn't effect electronics. Gas is turned off but power remains on. More info here tigertermite.com/fumigation/prepare-termite-fumigation/
Hmm...what about furniture?
Do cabinets need to be emptied???? Like what if I have cabinets full of miscellaneous stuff that isn’t food or medicine. I can’t find that info anywhere.
Hi, cabinets with miscellaneous stuff do not need to be emptied during fumigation; however, they must be left open for inspection and proper aeration.
One more question do big plastic unopened jar 4.1 LB of Prego Ragu sauce, and unopened Gatorade in plastic bottle need to be bagged? Thanks.
No you do not need to bag or remove an unopened jar 4.1 LB of Prego Ragu sauce, and unopened Gatorade in plastic bottle. You do not need to bag or remove these items.: any food, feed, drugs, tobacco products and medicines if sealed in glass, plastic, or metal bottles, jars or cans with the original manufacturer's airtight seal intact. (examples: unopened 2-liter soda/pop, liquor, beer or wine bottles). tigertermite.com/fumigation-preparation/

Is the only reason to water outside the house is to protect any plants, or is it to help keep the gas from leaking out through the ground? Thank You.
For the plants
@@maureensmerling6606 Thank You.
After a house gets fumigated, how likely is it, that it will need another fumigation? Does one fumigation usually take care of drywood termites?
If the fumigation is done properly, then all the drywood termites in the entire structure are killed. The house can get re-infested, however in most cases you should not need to tent again for several years.
@@Tigertermite Thank you, and one final question? Is there really anything that can be done to prevent drywood termites in the first place? My pest control tech told me no, that if drywood termites want to get in, they can, even though stucco. He said I just got unlucky.
@@petef.4361 Once a house has been built, you can't really prevent it from getting dry-wood termites. You can reduce the odds by eliminating moisture problems, keeping vegetation off of the structure, removing and replacing rotted wood and having a good paint job.
What about 5 gallon water dispensers do I have to cover it?
No, you do not need to remove water dispensers.
@@PaulFDavis2112 the fumugation wont leak into the water? There's still water inside the dispensers.
Does anyone know where I can get Nylofume bags? I can’t find the specific brand in Amazon/ home depot
Hi Sisam, Your termite or fumigation company should provide them for you. They are only sold in B2B stores in boxes of 100. pestweb.com/locations
What about injectable’s? For instance I take testosterone. If it’s left during fumigation do I need to throw away?

What about things in our home that are already bagged? Like clothes, bedspreads etc. Do these things need to be unbagged?

You do not need to bag or remove ice for fumigation.
How do you feel now? 😮
What about dishes ?
Hi, No need to bag, wash or remove dishes.
Paul Davis thanks!
What about aquariums??
We recommend removing fish during fumigation. The fish tank and water can remain, just turn off the filter.
They mention Ice? Does this mean I have to go through stuff IN Refrigerator?
Any food, feed, drugs and medicinals if not sealed in glass, plastic or metal bottles, jars or cans with the original manufacturer's airtight seal intact must be bagged or removed. This includes items in the refrigerator or freezer.
What about children’s toys?
Hello, Baby mattresses must be removed but you do not need to remove or bag toys.
Toys like stuffed animals can stay in the house
What about clothes, makeup, shoes, jewelry? 😯
You do not need to remove or bag clothes, makeup or shoes. For security reasons, we recommend removing jewelry.
You're supposed to dump the ice.
No, you do not need to dump the ice. www.tigertermite.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/know-what-needs-to-be-bagged-before-a-fumigation.pdf
Ugh . We go to the moon ,we have AI , why have to endure such a hardship with this tiny pest.
I rather move 😢
You need to open drawers “so the gas can reach every nook and cranny”? Well how in the hell is it going to get behind the walls and inside wood members to kill these pests?
Drawers, cabinets, closets and safes are left open during fumigation so the fumigant doesn't get trapped inside and leaves the structure ASAP.
Ice needs to be thrown out
