Just watched the whole video, and from my memory, he never said that the bait stations didn’t work. He was saying that there is no guarantee WHEN THEY will work, In which the official statement said it takes “up to a year” for bait stations versus “up to 30 days” for the liquid method.
It seemed he was more against the fact that companies offering the bait stations make you feel as if you must renew the subscription (re bait) in order for you to be free. But even then, he said it’s not a guarantee because of how long it can take to work.

I have a Florida home that is 20 ' from a pond. 10 years ago it had a perimeter treatment with fipronil. Instead of retreating, A few months ago I self installed BASF bait stations around my home, thinking it was a better environmental option that would work just as well, and where I could personally see activity & results. . Wondering what to do now. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yeah AG packs are pretty dope, I’ve seen pretty awsome results with them.
I agree with your point that pest control companies charge too much for them about 50/50. It really just depends on what kind of warranty the baiting system comes with.
If we’re talking unlimited damage repair and free retreats upon new damage…yeah I think it’s worth 1200-1400 depending on the size of the home.
If your warranty is crap, really any termite service is a risk. There is never such a thing as 100% risk free from termites in my opinion. Baiting or liquid.
You were however wrong about wood being in stations. It’s not wood, but pure cellulose infused with noviflumuron.
I’d love to elaborate more on the science on why the are effective, but I’m sure you have done your research and have developed your own opinion based off of that.

I live in Ohio. I nearly got scam by my pest control company that I was with for about 4 years. They wanted to charge me $1500 to install the Sentricon bait stations around my 1250sqft home. This was a "discounted" price also since I was already a customer. Plus $60 per month for 2 years for the warranty ( He did not mentioned this. I just happened to have read it.). They used several scare tactics to get me to sign. Such as "the house down the street needed $30K in termite damage repair". I ended up signing but after thinking about it overnight and doing a little research I canceled the contract the next day ( had a 3 day cancel window). In fact I completely canceled all my pest services from them. I ended up DIYing it with trenching and using a 78oz bottle of Taurus SC for $100. It was back breaking and time consuming but well worth it.

Wrong! When I first started 18 years ago and Sentricon used a different bait and we still had many liquid accounts we would have 10+ "swarms" a day of existing customers in April now we dont have more than 10 (that are actually termites) a year, with 1‐3 swarming out of the structure. My company does not ever treat with liquid with the Sentricon System, we use above ground stations for active termites. The bait is not just "wood soaked in chemical" and we do remove the stations when you cancel. It might be a few months but we will remove them. I promise you it works, and I'm not just saying that because my company uses it believe it or not.

You can not do a liquid treatment if they have a well or if there is a water source nearby. You also can not do a baiting system in cities. They both are good options, and neither are a scam.
The renewal price for the warranty on both liquid and bait stations is the same, but the installation of the bait stations is cheaper than the treatment of liquid. Liquid treatment also degrades and needs to be redone every 10-15 years while bait stations are checked once a year and are replaced as needed, which is covered under the warranty.
It's a little odd, too, that you have a video from 2 years ago where you're a lot more friendly towards bait stations than you are now. There is definitely a lot of bias in this video, and I think it could be because your company decided to stop using bait. If you are in the South, I understand because it's cut throat down there, and you also have drywood termites, whereas in the Northeast, it's really only ever subterranean termites.

With foams I find drilling the spots you want to treat is good, drilling a few 1/8" holes is easily patched, and if the termites are only cruising through the timbers in the wall and not the voids you kinda have to drill into the timber, nothing more satisfying than the sound of the termidor foam filling an entire 2x4 🤤🤤🤤🤤

I had liquid fail 3 times in 4 years. Twice done professionally. What seemed to have worked is having all the walls inside the house filled with terminator and having having the bathroom drilled and drilling into underneath the foundation with liquid but then. They also put in bait stations for me for free. My annual contract for the bait station is a hundred and fifty dollars a year. That includes a 1 million dollar structural damage gaurantee. I have it in writing.

Our company would put the stations in free for customers that had a liquid bond that had active infestations. We would go up on the bond about $100 after that. So a bond that was $125-$150 would go up to $225-$250.
If the company does go up on it in a few years, it's still worth it since sentricon is so expensive to install and plus your house could get Termites again.

I work at Orkin and we typically only use sentricon for preventative (with a guarantee that we will use termidor if termites become present) and light termite activity on a home (with termidor in the active areas). Beyond that we use termidor treatments for anything moderate to heavy activity. We also don’t manipulate or lie to anyone, Orkin would fire someone for being dishonest. “Hey Mr & Mrs, we offer a termite preventative product call sentricon, it does work based off of how termites forage but we offer a guarantee on it incase they do make it passed the stations (it happens but our branch has only had 2 houses in 10 years) we come out yearly and inspect the house inside and out and change the bait at yearly intervals.

I too hate them, for many reasons, the worst example is when people only install the timber monitoring devices and not the always active rod, 3 monthly visits that end up not even happening and then people get termites anyway or if the controller does keep coming it milks the customer to the point they then hate pest controllers and when they do get an active station baiting them needs so many bait replacements, sometimes the termites don't take the bait and abandon the station less so with high density rods, they generally take, but using stuff you have to mix with water, I hate that, you only need a couple jobs out of 100 where they dont take the bait even when they are channeling right next to the station to test the limits of your patience lol, using just timber to me is just a straight up scam, the always active rod less so, but still it can take several rod replacements and sometimes 2 years! For them to finally stop attacking that active station and be presumed dead, but then you go turn over a log 20 feet away and find termites anyway after baiting for freaking years! The caps go brittle faster than the rods go old. And oh boy when they don't touch any stations but eat someone's house anyway, customers loooove that...not.
In conjunction with something like Taurus or in very specific use cases, It should almost never be the first option IMO and to the people saying "I use only sentricons for prevention for years with 0 issues " I would say
    1. Maybe you aren't good at finding termites in houses or following up on your work in general lol
    2. You don't actually have enough jobs done to have good data.
    3. If you have callbacks for chemical but not stations you might be doing something wrong, a termite getting through chemical would be like a person trying to swim through an ocean of fentanyl lol
    4. Would you do a pretreatment to a slab by doing no physical barrier, nothing on the penetrations, no chemical to the soil, none of the usual things, just plonk the house on soil and slap stations around it? Heck no you wouldn't so why do you think it's so different post construction? If you have a nice open subfloor that can be sprayed and an easy to treat perimeter why are you using stations at every job?! I think I know why! lazy!!!

This house came with Sentricons. I bought the $55 key on ebay to open them up just to check on them. They are extremely protective of the bait refills. You *might* find some for sale on ebay but I haven't found them anywhere else. And the narrow shape that's all part of the racket. So you have to use their skinny baits that you can't find for sale. I'm guessing that's the reason they want to really screen their pest control companies. They don't want their product getting leaked to ebay. Also far easier to drill a pilot hole for them during install. The company that was servicing them really tried to get me to renew the subscription but they marketed it as a preventative and not to kill an active infestation.

I can't thank you enough for your videos. I'm happy to see the change in this industry the new generation is bringing. I had subs down here in South Florida and got 3 quotes. Two of them were absolutely ridiculous talking several thousand dollars. A younger guy came out and took a look around and said I could probably treat them myself for about $400 all in and that included buying the sprayer to mix the Taurus SC. Between his help and your videos I was able to treat my entire home successfully. Unfortunately my HOA has been drinking the koolaid and got conned into a $20K contract to put traps in the ground. Makes me sick to my stomach.

There are multiple studies showing that bait stations are very effective at preventing and treating infestations. The 30 days vs 365 days for effectiveness is a complete misinterpretation of what he was reading. And termite companies routinely will repo their stations if cancelled, particularly the companies that use the ATBS stations. Well considering he didn't give any field test from the past couple of years is very telling.
Sentricon Always active have been tested as the best preventative termite measure ever. Termites are able transport the bait to the colonies with some close to 400 feet away from the structure. You can't do that with Termindor, the termites die before they get to transfer the product.
They know this by DNA tests
Sentricon kills the entire colony, Termindor which is a great product was thought to kill the entire colony as well but entomologist believes that nymphs may still survive with a Termindor treatment.
Dan here is using old data as his reference

    • @gr8fulnbama439
      @gr8fulnbama439 29 дней назад +3

Also you can't put liquid just anywhere including places close to water sources, so you have to use a bait.
There's no run off for bait stations, the baits in Sentricon are 100% effective years down the road.
Termindor has a 10 year guarantee, however it's a liquid and like any liquid it's effectiveness goes down year by year
Also if you dig up an or an animal does dig up an area that is chemically treated that area can be navigated by termites and I know Dan isn't going to eat the cost of such an expensive chemical to retreat

Also I think fipronil based chemicals are a excellent choice in most cases. What I don't agree with is he's total disregard for

    • @kennydaniells684
      @kennydaniells684 22 дня назад

Disagree that the stations are pointless. There’s definitely situations where they are better suited. Most termite species in your yard or neighbours yard are happy to stay just there, coptotermes species will actively search for new food sources, this is when the termite system will do its job. Plenty of people don’t want their concrete drilled 200,300 or 450mm around their house, they also don’t always want to cut traps in timber floors to gain access to the subfloor, to apply chemicals. The point I’m making is both systems have their place in the industry, and if you discard one option completely it is you who is limiting your company or customer. Dan’s been in the industry for 6 minutes and thinks he knows better than the science behind the baiting systems, he is either disgruntled or uneducated on the system 🫡

Sentricon is not a scam or a ripoff. You’re simply bashing them because your company didn’t meet their minimum requirements to use their products. Sentricon markets themselves very well. Kinda how you worked in your Briostack plug into this video. As a pest control operator, the primary focus is to offer the best, most effective solution for your customers. The best advantages of Sentricon and Sentricon AG over liquid is visual location confirmation once termites hit the station, maximum efficacy year over year, and environmentally friendly. Being in the pest control industry as well, I’d take Sentricon products over a liquid treatment, that in most cases, will not come close to lasting 10 years in the ground. Talk about a ripoff…Why do most PC companies charge an annual renewal or “inspection” on a liquid treatment if it’s so great and lasts 10 years? Three big reasons…recurring revenue, minimizing damage claims, and knowing that the liquid treatment breaks down and loses effectiveness over time (even faster if not properly applied)
