Welcome to the UK! We dont call it caravaning, unless you are towing a caravan (trailer). We just call it camping. And your rig would be referred to as a motorhome, or a campervan. We havent called tgem motorcaravans since around 1950!!! So thrilled you are back over here - enjoy!
I always love that the title card changes with every change in vehicle. Also, Eric has the distinguished salt and pepper thing going for him. Looking good sir. Allison always looks amazing.
I think that the upholstery on the bed is because it's a hire van. Usually they are normal mattresses. Oh and it's a motorhome - caravans are trailers lol. We had a similar motorhome to that but a little larger. It had a bigger kitchen and an overhead bed (and air con!). Oh and that spider was tiny - you should see the size of the wolf spiders that invade our houses in the autumn! Hope you have a fab time over here in Blightly - looking forward to your next video!
Hey guys, if you’re heading north, you should definitely visit Chester Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, “Bob’s your uncle” basically just means “And there you have it”
Four years ago I was searching RUclips for videos about London because we had a trip planned for February 2020 and wanted to get some ideas for things to do. I came across your channel and never left, so this video was a great full-circle moment! Bath was one of our favorite and most memorable stops (one of your recommendations!) and we can't wait to go back. Stay warm!
Welcome back to the UK, don't worry Eric and Allison your reaction to the spider is the same as mine would be in that situation. I'd just say the spider lives in the van now and find a hotel 🕷😱😁
That would be a good RV for the Travel Beans (who I think of as your English counterpart). They could create a protective barrier between the bed and the floor and their baby could crawl around on the bed while parents are working in the kitchen or at the table.
We lived in Japan for 8 years & driving on the opposite side of the road was a real challenge for me. I used to repeat “keep your heinie on the linie” in my head so I’d remember to stay on the correct side of the road.
good tip except, you're wrong...its you US people that drive on the wrong side 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I opted to let my wife drive when we went to the US.....doesn't compute to me.
@@allisterdavidson9805 actually, most of the world drives like the US, it's only UK and some countries that drive on the other side, don't blame it on us haha
@@mikeanderson6522 The streets are so narrow & they build everything so close together it’s stressful! I stayed on the Expressway as much as possible. Other than that Japan was great!
You close the cassette toilet inside before pulling out the cassette to empty. You can (in the US we do use) use the same dump hose you are used to when you are dumping the waste at a waste station so you don't get splash back. It really doesn't smell if you keep the toilet opening closed. You can also use a deodorizer tab to keep any odor down. They are actually a pretty good way to have a toilet in a small vehicle.
In the UK we have concentrated flush fluid, often pink, which you put in the top flush tank - a glug of that and top up with water - and concentrated fluid for the waste tank, often blue but sometimes green, which deodorises and breaks down the waste product in the cassette toilet. That should deal with the "smell" but obviously it is sensible to keep the loo flap closed, especially when trying to remove the cassette. You can use tabs instead of the blue fluid but obviously you don't need to dilute that with water as it will start to dilute as soon as you use the loo. Emptying it is no real problem because there are stations (often signed "Elsan" after a proprietary toilet fluid) to do that, and a tap/hose to flush out the toilet cassette. Then slot back into your van and you are good to go for another couple of days. Of course if you are on a campsite there are toilet/showere facilities. We usually camp on farmers' fields etc with no facilities save for a tap for drinking water and an Elsan disposal point, but if you are on a campsite it often makes sense to use the facilities rather than deplete your freshwater supplies and fill your own toilet! SOME sites in the UK have water and waste pipes you can plumb into your vehicle together with TV aerial, but mostly you have either to drive to the "station" to refill your drinking water (though you can use an "aquaroll" to fill up at the tap without moving your RV, and then roll your 49 litres or whatever back to your van using the handle) and the stations to empty your waste water and the cassette toilet are likely to be dotted around the campsite. It all makes sense and within a day or two will seem normal & instinctive. I hope you enjoy/have enjoyed your trip to the UK. I remember seeing you in Canada...!
Growing up we went camping in a caravan. Both my parents and my grandparents caravans they didn’t have built in water tanks like Clementine. You’d have a aquaroll or other kind of large container and then a pipe would come out of the caravan and screw into the top of the container. (The aquaroll is like a plastic barrel with an opening in one end. You attach a metal handle to it so it rolls along the ground like a wheel so you can get it to and from the tap to the caravan. As far as the toilet it’s usually a chemical one (think like a compost toilet but not). You’d then empty it at the Elsan point. (That was always dad’s job! 😂😂) As far as not having a vent, your windows might open a little bit without letting out too much warmth so you could just open the window behind the cooker a little. Or you might have a sky light near the cooker. 😊 Talking about the bed - a normal mattress wouldn’t necessarily work with that split to get into the storage underneath….
Welcome back to the UK! Your UK trips actually got me into your channel, I couldn't come to your meet-up years ago though and you've barely been back since :( Enjoy your stay!
Well..... Since you mentioned it sir..... Allison is definitely looking like a snack!!! 😂😅😊 Respectfully saying!!!! You are a lucky man!!!! Anyway, I love your channel, and your humor!!! Thank you!!!!
I was born in North Yorkshire, UK and now live in the USA with my American wife, but have been to that area a few times and we do know the Bath area quite well, we had our honeymoon in and around Shepton Mallet, if you think your motor home is large to drive on UK roads you should try driving a Motor coach or semi, it can be interesting! I did laugh when you were doing the walk around @ 17.20 when you said that "everything in England is like the States but just enough different, like bizarre world" I have been using pretty much the same phrase for more years than I can remember about things in the USA! "everything's the same, but different" it was like hearing my thoughts in a female voice!! Have a good time in the UK. Remember..... Keep Left!
Haha! Glad we're not alone with the uncanniness. At least it keeps things fun and interesting. 😅 And we cannot imagine nor do we want to know what driving a semi or motor coach is like...this fairly small RV was experience enough! 🙈
Warm Irish hugs to you Alison and Eric from across the "pond". Enjoy your trip in England and I hope you have a special Christmas with family. Eric ! I am still praying for your Mom. 🍀🍀🇮🇪🇮🇪😺😺💚💚🍀🍀
About the propane tanks, in the UK the locker they are stored in has to have a drop out vent for safety which is usually at the lowest point of the locker so that the gas can escape because LPG is heavier than air.
Wishing you two happy travels across the UK and a Merry Christmas! 🎄 The motorway scenes brought back memories of our first time driving in Ireland. I felt those same nerves and wasn't in much of a hurry to leave the airport parking lot. 😅 But you get used to it! Can't wait to see the places you guys explore. 😊
Having your first right hand drive, left side of the road experience in London was extremely brave! 🤣 4m - that's not a super narrow road, it has middle markings! 18m:30 - yes, we're not allowed to stay permanently on any sites (it's illegal) so it's got to be made as difficult as possible for us to do so...
Love the RV.. definately looks spacious inside. Ps. as in any country... there are different types of RVs.. some have heating, aircon, fans etc even in the UK (my parents RV does). Also you can fill your fresh water tank at many campsites... you just need to ask... also look for the "Amenities" symbols for what the sites offer, before you book and choose ones with water refill stations. In the UK we have many types of camp grounds eg from official wild camping, to just tents, just RVs, Bellamy sites, Eco Site, etc.. the list goes on. You always need to check the Amenities list before going so you won't be disappointed.
Awesome to see you doing iternational travelling again. I have missed that. Haha the product commercial. Reminds me of Kingin -it. They are hillarious. They should be on the same island. hm. Perhaps you meet up. That would be fun. Love seeing your happy smiles.Happy new year.
Welcome to the UK you guys, fantastic to see you guys come to our side of the pond, have a fantastic time Campervaning 🤣 can't wait to see more adventures with you guys !!
We have a cassette roller in our Winnebago Hike 100 1316tb and love it! Highly recommend! It's not very smelly just always have an air spray in case it does
Hey, ya'll. welcome to the UK. Be carful in the UK it's dangerously beautiful even though its small. RV life isn't easy here. Watch where you park stealth is key and hide in plan sight. I find it's easier to camp in a town or city than the country side. But you're tourists so welcome and do what you want 😅
You can park anywhere at all if you have an not and tax. Not sure what all this nonsense is about watch where you park. You have as much right to park as any car.
Hi guys, as an RVer in Europe and an owner to a similar motor home let me give you two little information:)...the toilet cassette never stinks when handled properly which means emptied and rinsed regularly and using the fluid or tablet to dissolve "what goes in it"while keeping it smelling nice.Much more higienic and convenient than stinky slinky!..Rvers in Europe never dump their grey water just like anywhere they like, there are special places where you dump it, at campgrounds or even at some parking places made for this purpose... so we never get "fined"!just saying...
The toilet cassette has a black pipe on it for pouring out the waste and pouring in the chemicals. And as others have commented, it's a (very nice) motorhome/campervan rather than a caravan - those are towed behind a car. On your way back to London, you can go past Stonehenge.
Be careful where you dump the grey tank, most drains in the road or the hardstanding on sites are surface water drains and run into a watercourse so check that it runs into a foul drain first. Fish don't like washing up liquid, body wash or veg oil/fat. The ones at petrol/gas stations are more likely to be connected to a foul sewer.
Welcome to the UK guys! Loved your bewilderment during the tour of your motorhome, esp the toilet. We have a touring caravan (aka a trailer) and it has somehow become my job to empty the cassette every few days. Our rule is no #2s💩and use the toilet on site during the day! 😅 The pink and blue chemicals should keep the toilet from getting smelly - but definitely keep the blade (what Eric called the slot) closed when not in use. There are some sites that have “fully serviced pitches” where you have power, grey waste drainage and fresh water but electric only is the norm. Enjoy the UK and hope the roads aren’t too awful. Love from Scotland ❤🏴
I found you guys a few years ago when researching a trip to Rome, instantly loved your channel and have followed ever since, my girlfriend is a massive fan too!! Can't believe we didnt know you were coming to Bath!! We're only 20mins from there, would have loved to show you some of the sights and our favourite spots!!!
Fascinating to see the differences in US and British camping! We'd call that a motorhome rather than a caravan, caravans are towed. We do have pitches in the UK called all service pitches, they're usually more expensive and not as common, but they have water and sewage hook ups, but you have to have a more modern caravan or motorhome that supports this. We also call the concrete or gravel pitches hard standing pitches, and again they will be that bit more expensive. You actually will probably get in trouble for dumping grey water in any old drain in the UK, you need to find a specific motorhome waste site. Most campsites have them and they're effectively a parking space with a large drain in the middle. They can often be found next to the wash block. Some common touring routes in the UK may have some dumpsites outside of campsites for you to use, for example the NC500 in Scotland has a fair few as lots of people wild camp on that route rather than using campsites. Enjoy your travels, and drive safe on our wee roads!
Oh wow I can’t believe my favourite RUclipsrs are in the UK and less than 70 miles from me 😀. I Hope you both have a great stay and you look so happy to be here which is great 😀
all the same in Australia as far as sewerage goes ie: black water, it is all dumped at a dump station ,we mostly use chemical toilets and PS they don't get smelly at all if your using the correct chemical's . we do get a place to put your grey water hose into that runs into the sewer i.e.: shower and sink water. the van your driving and the other ones around you at the caravan park in bath we call mobile homes. hope you had a wonderful time touring around, it is a dream of mine to do the same
Hello Eric and Allison. Welcome to England again. If I had not seen you in cold New England in winter, I would not have believed you had come here around the start of winter. I had many a holiday in a towed caravan as a kid. Not my holiday of choice as an adult, but strangely I enjoy your videos, probably from nostalgia. Tomorrow I will be watching a live video from Benidorm, Spain, near where my girlfriend's parents used to have a house. I reckon that would have been a better location, since temperatures here were -5C here about a week back and you came on a warm day. Also it is near the shortest day, with sun up about 08:00 and sunset before 16:00. At least you are down south, where it is a bit warmer.
You guys sure get around! Last we saw you weren't you in Singapore? Or did I miss an episode? Either way so cool seeing you show us the UK style of RVing!! Keep it up and stay safe!
Great to see you back in the uk, typical rental van, wipe clean surface on everything, and its the uk, when would we ever need ac, its always cold and wet, when its not just open a window, great video, and all the best with your family
We live not far at all from Bath and have been to the pub you ate at. It’s so strange seeing our neck of the woods on your vlogs. It was fun seeing the differences between the uk and the us campers. Bath is such a beautiful city. Xx
We watch all your videos but I ❤❤❤ this! Love the comparison to American vehicles to the UK. I am jealous of all the campervan options in the UK ready to purchase vs how we have to do our own here in the US. Got a Kia carnival this summer for road-trips and it is so awesome! I love my Toyota highlander but really loving the width of the Kia. This looks like a great vacation but not sure my 2 teenage boys (one is almost 6’2”) and my husband would fit very well. Been thinking about a British isles cruise as an easy way to see a lot of Britain without driving. Merry Christmas!
You’re not supposed to dump gray in any grate you find, just the gray dump grate of the camp ground. However, lots of people will leave their gray dump valve open after dumping and leave a trail. I have no idea why and it offends me.
As a Brit it is so interesting seeing Britain through American eyes. I did much the same back in 1994 on my only visit to the US (although I did/do have family members in the US and Canada). Now I live in France. I wonder what you'd make of van life and camping over here?
I remember that "snack" comment." LOL! He said, "damn bro, Alison is a whole snack." I think it was the time you guys spent the night on that train ride in Vietnam.
OMG, so excited to watch this. Hope you all have fun. And I really like the manual pull-down bed. That's so much better than the electric one, I always worry about the electric one malfunctioning or the electricity not working for some random reason and not being able to use it or it being stuck like you said. I've never seen a manual one like that so I'll keep that on my list of good design ideas. Love It.
We Brits have got expert at cramming a lot into a small space, like 67 million people into a group of small islands of which 75% by area are wild open country.
I almost spat out my cup of afternoon tea when I realised you were staying just a few hundred yards from where I work. I guess you ate at the Boathouse just along the river? Looking forward to viewing your Bath adventures. Lovely place - especially at Christmas.
You mentioned that the electrical connection is 16 amps. The line (mains) voltage for RV connections is 230 volts in U.K. and Europe, while in the U.S. and Canada we have a split-phase system. Smaller RVs use a single-phase 30-amp 120-volt connection, while larger RVs use a split-phase 240-volt 50-amp connection providing both 240 volts and 120 volts. A 16-amp 230 volt connection in the U.K. therefore provides 3680 watts of power. A 30-amp 120-volt connection in the U.S. or Canada provides 3600 watts of power. It might sound as if you have less power for small RVs in the U.K., but you don't. They are practically the same.
Great caravan! I love Bath! If you ever decide to backpack there and travel cheap, the YMCA in town is a great, if basic, place to stay, very clean, and close enough to everything to walk! The Roman Baths are of course a must, and up the hill, the fashion museum is fascinating! Also, go have tea at the Jane Austen House, there's a painting of Mr Darcy (AKA Colin Firth) in the tea room, which I found charming and hilarious at the same time! Lol!
You mention there being no water at the site. Do you just mean at the pitch or the whole campsite because it’s usual for there to be a few taps dotted around for filling up your water and a place for you to deal with your grey water and toilet tank.
Love the videos. Rv sites are much more equipped in the spring/summer in the uk! We tend to stay in hotels and cottages in the winter months, lol. Hope you enjoyed the Manchester Christmas Markets!! Brilliant place to visit over December.

Absolutely love you guys, been watching from2020...stumbled on you by accident! Love it!!!!
Love the Chocolate Orange! Yummy
So cool!!!! 🎉❤ enjoy! 0:54
OMG!!! @12:38 I completely forgot to finish that drawing!!! 😱😱😱 Guess I'll be adding an Allison version as well. 😅😅😅
Woohoo I can’t wait for you guys to collab with the beans! Also I hope you get some Christmas markets going
Awesome to see you in England. Hope to see more of you in Europe. From a long time follower from the Netherlands.
Oh wow I can’t believe my favourite RUclipsrs are in the UK and less than 70 miles from me 😀. I Hope you both have a great stay and you look so happy to be here which is great 😀
Great to see you both in the UK. if you plan to pop over the border into Wales, call in for a cuppa ☕️
all the same in Australia as far as sewerage goes ie: black water, it is all dumped at a dump station ,we mostly use chemical toilets and PS they don't get smelly at all if your using the correct chemical's . we do get a place to put your grey water hose into that runs into the sewer i.e.: shower and sink water. the van your driving and the other ones around you at the caravan park in bath we call mobile homes. hope you had a wonderful time touring around, it is a dream of mine to do the same
Normally the mattress is a normal mattress, I’m guessing the cover is due to it being a rental, to prevent “stains” 😖
They’re trying to put out the England vids first well before Xmas.
Singapore is a handy stopover to many countries
Great to see you back in the uk, typical rental van, wipe clean surface on everything, and its the uk, when would we ever need ac, its always cold and wet, when its not just open a window, great video, and all the best with your family
Merry Christmas 🎅 Eric & Alison and hope all ok with families and wish you a better 2024 😘.
Aww just great to see yous guys back here in the UK and have a fantastic time 👍🤗
That's a nice little RV. Wise use of space.
Welcome to good old Blighty! Wish we knew you were here, we would have come say hi 👋..
Just a thought if your fridge smells like fish check the electrics as a fishy smell can indicate burning wires.
You’re not supposed to dump gray in any grate you find, just the gray dump grate of the camp ground. However, lots of people will leave their gray dump valve open after dumping and leave a trail. I have no idea why and it offends me.
I think the leather furnishings/bed are because it’s a rental. Easy to clean.
As a Brit it is so interesting seeing Britain through American eyes. I did much the same back in 1994 on my only visit to the US (although I did/do have family members in the US and Canada). Now I live in France. I wonder what you'd make of van life and camping over here?
Thank you both for the video & I can't wait to see what you do there
I remember that "snack" comment." LOL!
He said, "damn bro, Alison is a whole snack." I think it was the time you guys spent the night on that train ride in Vietnam.
Hi a caravan is something you tow
Glad you are enjoying the UK
Welcome back to England :) If you think Somerset roads are narrow, you'll need a stiff drink if you drive it around the South West!
Yay for UK! Always love seeing you guys over here!
When British people say 'dual carriageway' instead of highway or freeway it always cracks me up. Do horse drawn carriages ride on them?
Yay, I miss the UK so much lately especially seeing vlogs like this. Can't wait to go back one day soon
Right?? It's so much less scary without the electrical component. Definitely one of our favorite features too :)
You did very well driver. Driving a manual in the correct side of the road with a steering wheel in the right side. While vlogging. Well done
I am so excited that you are back in the UK. We love you here! Drive safe and have fun! :-D
Thanks! This trip was too short, but we're excited for all the adventures we packed in. It was so fun being back!
Hello
Youve got to visit Milton Keynes. We have a huge shopping center and movie 🎬 also you can come a see the concret cows.❤
Looking forward to seeing more of the UK in this series! 👍
Please come to Exeter,Devon England. As has lots of interesting places to visit in the city.
I almost spat out my cup of afternoon tea when I realised you were staying just a few hundred yards from where I work. I guess you ate at the Boathouse just along the river? Looking forward to viewing your Bath adventures. Lovely place - especially at Christmas.
Oh no way! And we did...for dinner and breakfast! It was delicious 🙌
How cute you even changed the intro!!!! Y’all are amazing!
I kinda love that thing! Also Allison, you're hilarious.
Wow you’re brave getting drone footage in London (not allowed haha). Thanks for all the entertaining content! 😊
Lol!
We love following the fun times you have. I was surprised to see that the entrance door to the caravan was still on the right side.
Really old ones have the door on the curb side, but I guess that doesn’t work so well when traveling across Europe.
3:06 Ahhhhhhh!!! What does that sign mean???
You mention there being no water at the site. Do you just mean at the pitch or the whole campsite because it’s usual for there to be a few taps dotted around for filling up your water and a place for you to deal with your grey water and toilet tank.
Love the videos. Rv sites are much more equipped in the spring/summer in the uk! We tend to stay in hotels and cottages in the winter months, lol. Hope you enjoyed the Manchester Christmas Markets!! Brilliant place to visit over December.
Motorhoming! Can’t wait to see you catch up with the Beans xx
Y'all should try narrowboating, I think yall would have so much fun.
We'd love to do that one day...maybe our next adventure in England?!
You should rent a canal narrowboat
