We were there a few weeks back as we'd gone to The Hell Fire Caves.....absolutely loved it..... Reminded me of my parents, Mum.grew up in Ireland during the war born 1936, Dad, born 1921, was a Burma veteran former Chindit.....& my husband is into Military history so a win win..... We both had the breakfast as did our 16 year old but minus the beans as she hates them......the service is excellent and the people who run it are so friendly and accommodating.... When we were in it was quite busy but that didn't detract from the service, spot on. Definitely one to go back to next time we are out that way. Good 9/10 score Gary......excellent review and very fair.
I think that was possibly the nicest looking breakfast I've seen on your reviews. Maybe hash browns aren't traditional in an English breakfast but there was a lot of US military in that area during the war and potatoes and onions weren't rationed so it makes sense that they came into the diet of UK around then. And if people want to be really picky in terms of history..... tomatoes came to us from South America and beans came from North America 😊 that place looks like it's well worth a visit. Thank you
Hi Gary and Mr cameraman.. another lovely relaxing vlog..I would choose tinned plumb tomatoes..for no other reason than memories of my mums breakfasts..vine tomatoes are just as acceptable..and for me you got the scones perfect..cream then jam..my reasoning behind that is..butter is made from cream..and on bread butter is always spread first..😉🤭..or am I overthinking things..ha ha..😂👍

Not true. they are equally as good cooked under a grill right next to the bacon you are grilling, which is alongside the tomatoes you are also grilling. Under a grill you can cook everything apart from frying the egg. I have an Air fryer, they have their uses for sure, but they are over rated and take twice as long and are shit when it comes to cooking multiple items no matter how big the draw is, for say erm a family of 5.
The place looks great. Breakfast looked ok but I prefer tinned tomatoes and my toast unbuttered on a seperate plate. The sliced ham, egg and chips was ok but would be better with peas instead of the salad. Cream scone looked really nice. On the whole a great experience.
If this was an authentic breakfast he wouldnt be having anywhere near that much food, especially the meat 😅. I think modern food is better to compliment the world war vibes.
What a wonderful place, nostalgia everywhere. It's like the Tardis. I cannot get over how fantastic the place is, you could spend hours just looking at everything. Breakfast looked so inviting. I was brought up in Devon, Gary Newton Abbott and brought up on clotted cream if I remember correctly my grandparents clotted cream and jam looks a great place and great food thanks for sharing CQ should’ve took me with you, I could’ve sung you a song on the stage lol 😂
The price should have been ignored. When the bill came, a 10 bob note and asked for the change. Now, that would have been authenticity! Seriously, it's a fine place with good food. Good review, and thanks for taking us along. Appreciated.
How lucky are you to visit such a lovely place, there's items and furniture in there that I can remember being in my grandma's little council bungalow, I was only 9 when she died in 1969 and I have fond memories of her especially her blonde hair lol, thanks Gary 👍
This place looks far too british to be showing. 😂 Some viewers might get offended. 🙄 Great looking fry, would much rather plum tomatoes than fresh tomatoes, personal preference.
Running a restaurant is one of the most difficult undertakings. It is a backbreaking, time-consuming labor of love and family owned restaurants should be supported whenever possible. I love the decor of this establishment and the food looks yummy. I am sure the owners appreciate your patronage and positive review. Hopefully, many who see this video will give this unique place a try.❤😊
Great effort to do something unique. It must be an effort for the staff to track down where first time customers have gone to sit though I would have thought? So many rooms to check!
Wow gaz what a lovely Cafe who ever owns the clientele as put there heart and soul in bringing back the good times fantastic to see all the british flags and memorabilia of my beautiful country thats when people were people I can't say that now God bless Britain ❤
Thank you Gary, a great nostalgia experience. The breakfast looked fantastic. Thank you for supporting a small business like this. The eggs looked fantastic and glad the has browns passed muster😊
Gary I never understand people wanting orange yolks on eggs, our eggs were always light yellow meaning they were fresh and not coloured, apparently supermarkets assume people do not know the difference! But the lighter the yolk the fresher the egg! Food did look great though. Thank you. Love from Cyprus. PP: I am from England originally. 👍👍🍽🍽🍽🍽
What a delightful place the Air Raid Shelter Cafe is Gary ! The food looked fantastic too. Like you said, we'd need to spend a good hour or so just looking around all the rooms & taking in the memorabilia & memories. 10/10 from me for the overall experience.
What a fascinating little place. A lifetime's collection I should think. Thought the tommy hat looked very fetching on you. In Cornwall you put the jam on before the cream.
The breakfast, I would give it a 10 out of 10. Great setting, huge delicious breakfast. I like my bacon overdone as you had it. Brings out extra flavor. Thanks Gary!
What an amazing place . Took me back to my Scottish Nana’s house in Corby, Northants, which was largely unchanged since 1945. We used to play in her Anderson (?) air raid shelter, which she also used to house 1/2 cwt bags of coal, REAL heating. (How many viewers understand “1/2 cwt” I wonder …)

I was brought up in Devon, Gary Newton Abbott and brought up on clotted cream if I remember correctly my grandparents clotted cream and jam looks a great place and great food thanks for sharing CQ should’ve took me with you, I could’ve sung you a song on the stage lol 😂
Haha you would have been much better than me Chris 😃🤣
You gotta get into eating mushrooms Gal.
Challenge incoming lol
Good mushrooms are amazing abd very healthy 😅@GaryEats
@@GaryEatsdon’t do it Gary!
Great review Gary. Vine tomatoes are a nice touch, not keen on tinned tomatoes on a breakfast, love mushrooms and I do like hashbrowns!
Might have to do them with you Greeno lol
I love theme pubs/restaurants, as a non brit this is the kind of places that appeal the most to me about England
So do I. So beautiful
The price should have been ignored. When the bill came, a 10 bob note and asked for the change. Now, that would have been authenticity!
Seriously, it's a fine place with good food. Good review, and thanks for taking us along. Appreciated.
lol Thant made me laugh Jeff if only 👍
How lucky are you to visit such a lovely place, there's items and furniture in there that I can remember being in my grandma's little council bungalow, I was only 9 when she died in 1969 and I have fond memories of her especially her blonde hair lol, thanks Gary 👍
Thanks so much Jan
This place looks far too british to be showing. 😂
Some viewers might get offended. 🙄
Great looking fry, would much rather plum tomatoes than fresh tomatoes, personal preference.
I am currently offendeded
@@aledjango why? For what reason? A british themed place, in england?
I'm more offended you don't know how to spell in correct english.
@sicdoctor I'm not sure if you're being ironic or missed the fact that I, as a completely unoffended person, was being ironic myself 😅
@@aledjango could be both! Who knows!
It's a fantastic Cafe
What a cool cafe! That big breakfast looked amazing!! I love fresh tomato on my breakie and pro hash browns! Have a great day Gary 😊
Thank you very much. I hope you have a great weekend, Nicole.
Great review as always Gary what an interesting restaurant food looks fantastic mate keep up the super reviews
Very kind and appreciated Jack that’s a very kind comment
Running a restaurant is one of the most difficult undertakings. It is a backbreaking, time-consuming labor of love and family owned restaurants should be supported whenever possible. I love the decor of this establishment and the food looks yummy. I am sure the owners appreciate your patronage and positive review. Hopefully, many who see this video will give this unique place a try.❤😊
I really hope it brings some customers as it’s an absolute gem 💎
Thank you Gary for taking us on another great adventure.
You are more than welcome anytime
Nice one Gary!
Thank you very much Martin
That has to be the largest FULL ENGLISH I've ever seen that large for one person! Amazing and quite intimidating.....
The plate was massive Paul
Great effort to do something unique. It must be an effort for the staff to track down where first time customers have gone to sit though I would have thought? So many rooms to check!
They didn’t seem to have any problems
i would love to visit this place its so nostalgic
It’s really worth a visit
Wow gaz what a lovely Cafe who ever owns the clientele as put there heart and soul in bringing back the good times fantastic to see all the british flags and memorabilia of my beautiful country thats when people were people I can't say that now God bless Britain ❤
Great comment Neil thank you
Thank you Gary, a great nostalgia experience. The breakfast looked fantastic. Thank you for supporting a small business like this. The eggs looked fantastic and glad the has browns passed muster😊
This is a fantastic cafe Fiona the owner has out some much effort in to make it work

Couldn't agree more!

A properly cooked breakfast! Lovely. What a wonderful place and I love the odd crockery.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Really good to see another Gary vid' today..✌️
Happy you look forward to the videos Nicky
Scones too you are spoiling us Gary cup of tea too,you have spoilt us there Gary❤
Thank you very much. That is a good point Jacqui
That's the best place you have ever reviewed ❤ forget the Michelin stars.... This place is amazing and remembers what is good about the UK!!!!!!!!
Phillip thank you a lovely comment 👍
It's like a mini museum, love it. ❤
Thanks Kathy, it was a lovely place
Hello Gary, like the way you are so honest in your reviews - very refreshing. I live in Malta and we could do with a reviewer like you over here.
That is very kind to say and I will pop over and say hello Keith
@@GaryEats Any time Gary - can arrange accommodation in Saint Pauls Bay.
What an awesome place. Thanks for the tour sir.
More than welcome Roland!
What an amazing place. The food looked very tasty and home cooked. For overall its a definite 10. Great experience as well.
Thanks Colin. Have a great Easter!
What a phenomenal looking place. The attention to detail is amazing. I would definitely visit there, or I would certainly, "give it a go ".
Couldn't agree more!
Gaz, you wee face was beaming! You loved that place🥰 awesome work as always, Ben , Perth, West Coast Aus x
I loved it Ben. Hello to Oz!
What a delightful place the Air Raid Shelter Cafe is Gary ! The food looked fantastic too. Like you said, we'd need to spend a good hour or so just looking around all the rooms & taking in the memorabilia & memories. 10/10 from me for the overall experience.
Glad you enjoyed it Robert. It's a wonderful place
What a fascinating little place. A lifetime's collection I should think. Thought the tommy hat looked very fetching on you. In Cornwall you put the jam on before the cream.
I prefer the Cornish way.
Tally ho lol a great little cafe 👍
Oh my god Gary. That has got to be one of the best places you have been to. I am definitely going to visit there. My wife will love it too.
Have fun! Thank you
The breakfast, I would give it a 10 out of 10. Great setting, huge delicious breakfast. I like my bacon overdone as you had it. Brings out extra flavor. Thanks Gary!
This was just brilliant Jeff I loved it
What an amazing place .
Great memories Tony have a great Easter 🐣
Love it 🇬🇧
Me too 👌
What a fabulous place, it’s on my list of places to visit and of course good food and fun with it.
I hope you have fun when you go
love little spots like that.
Me too. Wonderful!
That place is incredible. Without doubt, my favorite food reviewer on RUclips

Looked an amazing place - a trip back in time with quality local food. Thanks for going there.
