Got arrested at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport on the way home because my Russian visa had expired and I needed to transfer from the domestic to the international airport which meant crossing Russian terrain, deported from Russia and told never to return. Amazing. What an interesting review. A lovely former old shop, I believe. Beautiful tiling. The dishes looked like home cooking, as I like it. Good old fashioned fare. I must visit the place. It truly deserves top marks. Thank you very much 'for taking us there'.
Another very interesting review Gary never had or thought of trying Georgian Food but now you have opened my eyes !! The food , presentation & service looked spot on Looking forward to another of your interesting videos ❤
First off, I don’t know a damn thing about Georgian food. After seeing what you had Gary to eat, I need to try some myself. The dumplings remind me of Chinese soup dumplings only about 5x bigger. Everything including the restaurant looks so lovely.
Being Chinese that naturally caught my eye as well. An article says it likely travelled China --> Mongols --> Georgia, and apparently the difference is thicker dough and liquid soup is used, while xiaolongbao use thin skins and gelatinous filling to keep from exploding I guess. Ordered my first Georgian restaurant delivery here in Brooklyn today, so this video was a nice accompaniment.
Hi Gary I'm new to your site love the videos I've seen so far. I lived in East Dulwich in the late 80's early 90's and wasn't aware of this restaurant then but I will definitely make a visit next time I'm in the area thanks for the review
you have such a pleasant and charming way of reviewing the food, and honest. so refreshing to see and great if people are looking for places to eat. bravo. subscribed !
Gary, this was a really good video. I moved to Eastern Europe and the quality of the food is amazingly - and relatively cheap. I know you have to do the fast food stuff, but this was real food. Thank you for the entertainment. All the best mate.
Well, Gary, this is the best promotion Georgian Cuisine could wish for. I am really curious now. For the food, the wine, the people, the country. So thank you for this new item on my bucketlist 🙂
You hit another winner Gary. Beautiful restaurant with what looks like terrific food. Georgia has long been considered the cradle of winemaking and the wines are different but exciting. Love it all.
Congratulations Gary on your viewing figures.Fantastic review are like the layman terms. How you describe everything? No bells, whistles or hooters to go along with it.Fantastic get your own tv shows too mate
Yes! My favourite food reviewer, reviewing my favourite food! My wife is Armenian, where Georgian food is also widely available. So when we visit her family every year, I usually keep a count of how many khachapuri I eat on the trip. Usually average about 1 per day... and I return about 5kg heavier! It is the ultimate dish - comforting, filling, simple, but yet utterly utterly tasty. Love it! Thanks for another great review!! (p.s. if you want to continue your food tour of the Caucasus and are ever in Manchester, there is a great Armenian restaurant in the city centre called Armenian Taverna)
Gary, I have watched this twice and I still can't stop salivating. I don't need to get to these places, just watching your videos is enough. Thank you for what you do for us, a great chap, a great channel. Take care my friend.
The range, budget and style of cuisine in your channel is awesome, and you manage to make all videos with the same level of entertainment value. Also it's nice to see the same respect shown to "lesser" places as the michelin starred and big fancy restaurant's. Georgian food looks lovely.
Another great review Gary love to seeing you trying different cuisine that looked absolutely tasty food so different Georgians people are such lovely honest people a bit like you flying high mate watch them roads when giving it a go 😅😊top man
Thanks Gary love your reviews! Unfortunately i live in Germany now but you've shown me some top eating places for my occasional visits! Once again thanks very much.😊

Beautiful decor Gary! We used to go to our Festival Theatre and we saw some beautiful Georgian Dancers the colours were amazing and the 💃 🕺 that was back in the 80s Gary I always had a fascination for Russia and the like 👍 ❤
@@GaryEats hi Gary It looked very interesting especially those little type dumplings they reminded me firstly of Dim sims!, Then I had another look! I did go to a Russian Restaurant back in the 1990s it's was simply amazing! Plus the atmosphere it was at night too! 😊❤🙏
That was another interesting review Gary. Never experienced Georgian cuisine before so that will have to have a visit. The food looked hearty down to earth goodness. Those dumplings were the largest i have ever seen. You looked rather content after that feast and red wine. I would say definitely a 9/10. I also looked on their website at their extensive menu which shows some very tasty dishes and also gives a bit of history.
I have travelled through Georgia a few times for a couple of weeks at a time and I really didn't enjoy the food in restaurants. On the other hand when you went to peoples homes and had home made food , wines and vodka it was beyond incredible. I really enjoyed this review as it brought back some happy memories.
@@rosemarymee the two times I have been to Georgia and I was cycle touring and most of the restaurants served plain food. Khinkali is either something you like or hate , to me it was atrocious. It was like very thick ravioli gone wrong and the meat was grey and soaked in water.
That looked amazing Gary. Like you I was completely clueless about Georgian food but this video has definitely made me want to try it. The stew in particular looked outstanding 👍👍👍

@@TelThePower That particular youtuber was my favourite until recently, 2 channels, totally confusing titles and formats and his attitude is just so arrogant and abusive, but let's not drag rubbish into a clean street 😉
My first impressions were "WoW" as the cameraman pans around the interior of Kartuli . Stunning ! So much character. You are totally forgiven for the pronunciations Gary. Not an easy task. Food to set the taste buds tingling for sure. So unusual but so delicious. I was salivating throughout. Food cooked with love and passion. To put it in your top 3 of all restaurants you've visited is testament to the overall experience without a doubt. Top video again Gary.
Nothing better than contentment after a good meal in relaxing surroundings, heaven. Loved the look of the stew that’s my kind of dish too. Well done Gary for reviewing what appears to be another little gem 👍
You just have to look at where Georgia is located geographically; their climate and historically the types of employment/industry of the country. And their earthy, hearty, filling food reflects this. The way the restaurant has presented their cuisine is outstanding. Good find Gary!
Ah, excellent to see you try and love Georgian food Gary, very pleasantly surprised to see this in my recommendations. Glad to see you eat the Khinkali the correct way with your hands first! I first tried Georigan food in Ukraine years ago and have since visited Georgia and had the real thing. It's my first port of call if I'm ever in a former Soviet country, they're as common as Indian restaurants are in the UK!
I thought you’d won the lottery, Gary. After your previous video where you took away the food to revamp at home, I'd be interested in a Gary Cooks spinoff. Would be really interesting to see what kind of things you cook up at home given your wealth of restaurant experience.
@GaryEats definitely do it love.....even if u do it as a second channel. .....that said i do realise it's a lot of work with editing & uploading especially when u have a full time job too.
I think this is my favourite video so far. Gary’s Eyes lighting up like a child at Christmas trying these unexplored wonders. Really makes you want to grab a fork and rip that Stew out of your hands. Looked enormous and absolutely perfect. Would be curious to know what it would have taken to make it a perfect 10 🤔 Awesome review as always Gary 🫡
Wow that was different Gary, thanks for introducing us to a new cuisine and what a beautiful restaurant. It looks a very eclectic range of food almost a cross between Chinese (dim sum) to Italian with the starter bread dish. Your description of ‘rustic’ was spot on as this is how I imagine Georgian life to be (as part of the former USSR). Once again, you are so lucky having access to this diversity in food in London 👍 10/10.
Wow, they don't skimp on portion sizes do they! I don't think I could even finish the first two dishes on my own, never mind the stew. Fair play to them for good value.
Gary, Georgian restaurants are quite popular in New York (especially Brooklyn) and the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia. The restaurant you're visiting has a better looking wine selection than any I've seen in the States. This is the world's most underestimated cuisine.
good research good video, this has been on my list for the last few months because of it going viral on social media, good choices on the traditional dishes i was looking into the dumplings too i hear some people eat the stalk but most people dont because the stalk is thick so it might not be fully cooked all the way through
Another extra-ordinary review! Scrumptious! AND a cuisine I really know nothing about - so definitely intrigued. Something did seem a little off with regards to the filming during the first part of the video - and there is nothing like throwing a team-mate, work-mate, friend, or family member under the bus when they make a mistake, or turn up late. The poor guy is not doing himself any favours though, with regards to being fed. Cheers to you both for airing your dirty laundry for all fans to see! Godspeed, and I can't wait to hear more drama on the next one. 🍻

You picked a real gem here Gary, food & presentation looked great, always pleased when you support the local places 😀 thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Lee
I now need to try Georgian cuisine. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing.
It’s definitely worth trying
Be sure to try the eggplant rolls with walnuts and spices. There are many more dishes in Georgian cuisine that will revolutionize the world of your tastes
I used to live in Moscow and we would often go out for Georgian food. Always very nice and fantastic wine. I would also suggest giving Uzbek cuisine a try, if you can find it. Great video as always Gary and bought back some memories 😊
I will try thank you ☺️
What a true Georgian class this restaurant is. This chairs , the entire interior is so Tbilisian vintage. საქართველო ❤ What a delight to see guest this appreciative.
I absolutely loved this restaurant and I’ll definitely be returning
I thought it would be a 10 the way you were enjoying it.
Keep up the good work, really enjoining your videos.
I took one off for the price point
I think a good "Chakapuli" is a real Georgian Rockstar food. It blows my senses each time.
That’s good to hear Aleksandre
Please don't change your style of videos, your natural and genuine approach is why I've watched from the beginning. Thank you. This meal looked great.
Thank is very kind and generous Edward thank you so very much, we won’t change, it’s a simple formula but everyone seems to enjoy the way we do the videos, have a great week ahead 👍
Gary, you always make us feel that we are there with you. Both of us are. feeling very, very full up , have to go for a jog round the block. Well done again.
That’s very kind John thank you both very much
Dipping that crust in the cheese was everything 🤤🤤🤤
It was sensational
That looked wonderful.
Lmao!! That cheese pull had you mesmerised 😂
Mate Gary went straight back to a 70s fondue moment
I was amazed obviously easily pleased lol 😂
Gary. Your reviews are ALWAYS honest. I'm SOOOO pleased that you have over 200 000 views. You're the BEST. Your enthusiasm alone and your politeness alone makes you the best by far. Thank you again for yet another BRILLIANT review.
That is a lovely comment to make thank you very much, Lynn
@@GaryEats My pleasure. It's the TRUTH. You cheer up SOOOOO many people with your enthusiasm ALONE. The reviews are an added bonus. Thank you on behalf of ALL those people whose lives have been improved JUST by watching you. Your camera man does a GREAT job too. Thank you both.
I would have been full after the first course and Gary managed to knock back 2 more. What a legend 😊
I was really full afterwards Greg hence the weight going on 😳
Thank you for bringing Georgian food to my attention! 🇬🇪 Fantastic review as always ❤
Very kind thank you
Georgian food is amazing... so is Uzbeki food (Uzbekistan) and there are a few Uzbeki restaurants in London😉
Starter was big enough for four! Dumplings enough for 4
Best food review channel on RUclips!! Facts.
Hope you are keeping well Gary.
I’m all good Liam yourself?
@@GaryEats very well Gary.
Having a well deserved relaxing weekend
Oooh. Just down the road from me. That stretch has always had a good range of independents
This is definitely one to take a look at Graeme
Hello from Georgia. ❤️ I was very happy to see this video and I'm glad you enjoyed our food.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Well done for giving the names in that menu a go, Gary! The restaurant looks so pretty and the food looks both delicious and fun to partake of. Great choice to review. Bet the Cameraman was a bit gutted when you put the used spoon back into the stew pot. None of that dish spared for him. 😂
Definitely not he disappeared for ten minutes lol
@@GaryEatshe went for a poo😂😂
@@GaryEats Having a sulk in the gents maybe, LOL.
So you spend all day with someone and you wouldn't share a spoon?
@@OuterSpaceOwl so you'd spend all day with someone and not share a spoon?
Amazing. What an interesting review. A lovely former old shop, I believe. Beautiful tiling. The dishes looked like home cooking, as I like it. Good old fashioned fare. I must visit the place. It truly deserves top marks. Thank you very much 'for taking us there'.
This is one I’ll remember for a long time Sylvia
Another very interesting review Gary never had or thought of trying Georgian Food but now you have opened my eyes !!
The food , presentation & service looked spot on
Looking forward to another of your interesting videos ❤
That’s very kind Andrew lots more cuisines coming soon
First off, I don’t know a damn thing about Georgian food. After seeing what you had Gary to eat, I need to try some myself. The dumplings remind me of Chinese soup dumplings only about 5x bigger. Everything including the restaurant looks so lovely.
Yes Patrick, they very much did remind me of those as well. Very good point
Thanks and welcome to the channel, really appreciate it
you have such a pleasant and charming way of reviewing the food, and honest. so refreshing to see and great if people are looking for places to eat. bravo. subscribed !
That’s really kind and appreciated you subscribing, watching and commenting thank you
Very good with review again keep doing the international cuisine so much more interesting than other food reviewers.
That’s really appreciated Christian thank you
That meal looked absolutely delicious, and with your descriptions I could almost taste them 🥸🤤🥸
Another satisfying vid 🍻
That’s very kind thank you
That looked delicious, comforting and hearty home cooked food, would love to try this place.
It’s definitely one to take a look at
@@GaryEats Thanks Gary, have a fantastic weekend
Gary, this was a really good video. I moved to Eastern Europe and the quality of the food is amazingly - and relatively cheap. I know you have to do the fast food stuff, but this was real food. Thank you for the entertainment. All the best mate.
I’m really pleased you enjoyed this one, Frank
Well, Gary, this is the best promotion Georgian Cuisine could wish for. I am really curious now. For the food, the wine, the people, the country. So thank you for this new item on my bucketlist 🙂
It’s definitely worth trying Anne absolutely lovely
Now that looks SO delicious and unique! Brilliant addition to the channel Gary. 👍
It was so good Sean thank you
You hit another winner Gary. Beautiful restaurant with what looks like terrific food. Georgia has long been considered the cradle of winemaking and the wines are different but exciting. Love it all.
This was a winner 🥇 and good wine as well 🍷
That looked the Business👌😋. ......What stopped you to go a 10?
Excellent Go Gary 👍👌
It was the price point 🤷♂️
Congratulations Gary on your viewing figures.Fantastic review are like the layman terms. How you describe everything? No bells, whistles or hooters to go along with it.Fantastic get your own tv shows too mate
Thank you so very much Michael but I’m happy doing these videos as great fun
That’s so very kind and how lucky are you wow, my first but not last time for sure and I’ll take a look at your recommendation thank you 👌
I like how you keep an open mind with new reviews Gary that looked well worth giving it a go.
Nicely done mate.👍🏻😁
Very kind Rob thank you
Gary, I have watched this twice and I still can't stop salivating. I don't need to get to these places, just watching your videos is enough. Thank you for what you do for us, a great chap, a great channel. Take care my friend.
A really lovely comment thank you
The range, budget and style of cuisine in your channel is awesome, and you manage to make all videos with the same level of entertainment value. Also it's nice to see the same respect shown to "lesser" places as the michelin starred and big fancy restaurant's. Georgian food looks lovely.
That’s really appreciated thank you
Another great review Gary love to seeing you trying different cuisine that looked absolutely tasty food so different Georgians people are such lovely honest people a bit like you flying high mate watch them roads when giving it a go 😅😊top man
This was a delight and I’ll be going back very soon 👌
Gary love what you preach. Support local business all the way. The Georgian looked food spectacular.
Thank you I do try to do that when I can
Thanks Gary love your reviews! Unfortunately i live in Germany now but you've shown me some top eating places for my occasional visits! Once again thanks very much.😊
Cheers Stewart and hello 🇩🇪
There are many Georgians in Germany. I'm sure there are some Georgian restaurants in the big cities in Germany
Great review Gary really showcased Georgian cuisine ,food ive never seen before thanks.
No problem thank you for watching and commenting
Love your videos, all honest and believable - I'd go to a restaurant just based on your reviews. You can see how much you have progressed since the early days, keep up the great work
That’s so very kind Lee thank you
Beautiful decor Gary! We used to go to our Festival Theatre and we saw some beautiful Georgian Dancers the colours were amazing and the 💃 🕺 that was back in the 80s Gary I always had a fascination for Russia and the like 👍 ❤
I really enjoyed this one Helen. The food was outstanding. My first try of Georgian food but definitely not my last. ❤️🌹
It’s an excellent menu with plenty of options well worth a visit
I have travelled through Georgia a few times for a couple of weeks at a time and I really didn't enjoy the food in restaurants.
On the other hand when you went to peoples homes and had home made food , wines and vodka it was beyond incredible.
I really enjoyed this review as it brought back some happy memories.
I’m really pleased it brought back some wonderful memories
Why was the restaurant food so different?
@@rosemarymee the two times I have been to Georgia and I was cycle touring and most of the restaurants served plain food. Khinkali is either something you like or hate , to me it was atrocious. It was like very thick ravioli gone wrong and the meat was grey and soaked in water.
As a vegetarian it sounds awful. I suppose expecting gluten free choices to appear on menus would be unthinkable?
😢
That looked amazing Gary. Like you I was completely clueless about Georgian food but this video has definitely made me want to try it. The stew in particular looked outstanding 👍👍👍
It’s definitely worth a look Paul I really enjoyed it 👍👍

I just wanted to also say I saw your comment elsewhere, & you were 100% spot on, the prices of the meal were not shown or spoken about, & for you to be told " I showed you" was wrong mate, unfortunately it was rude, & factually incorrect! he should have checked & apologised to you, let's give him the benefit of the doubt & thought he'd left them in at editing stage lol 🤔

That particular youtuber was my favourite until recently, 2 channels, totally confusing titles and formats and his attitude is just so arrogant and abusive, but let's not drag rubbish into a clean street 😉
That looks absolutely fantastic 😋 and it's great to get a review of Georgian food, a cuisine I've never tried, so thanks very much Gary 👍
It was fantastic Trevor and thank you
My first impressions were "WoW" as the cameraman pans around the interior of Kartuli .
Thank you Robert this was a lovely restaurant and the food was just WOW 👌
Thank you, Gary. Great video!
Thank you Billy for watching

Wow never heard of Georgian food. What an amazing place. Would love to try somewhere like this. Thank you Gary xx
It’s definitely worth a visit Susannah xx
Nothing better than contentment after a good meal in relaxing surroundings, heaven.
Loved the look of the stew that’s my kind of dish too. Well done Gary for reviewing what appears to be another little gem 👍
Thank your Julien this was exactly that a little gem 💎
You just have to look at where Georgia is located geographically; their climate and historically the types of employment/industry of the country. And their earthy, hearty, filling food reflects this. The way the restaurant has presented their cuisine is outstanding. Good find Gary!
Thank you very much
The Georgians produce some of the best wine in the world. Plus their Cha-cha... strong stuff)
Nice video and great idea Gary. I've had Georgian food several times. Great stuff. They also have some good wines
Excellent wines for sure 🥂🍷
@@GaryEats The Georgians created wine 8000 years ago in neolithic times as well as the oldest discovered honey in the world, way before the Egyptians!
Looks amazing Gary x
Thank you Harry x
Ah, excellent to see you try and love Georgian food Gary, very pleasantly surprised to see this in my recommendations. Glad to see you eat the Khinkali the correct way with your hands first! I first tried Georigan food in Ukraine years ago and have since visited Georgia and had the real thing. It's my first port of call if I'm ever in a former Soviet country, they're as common as Indian restaurants are in the UK!
A fantastic recommendation thank you I had a great time and definitely will be trying again once again thank you
Always a smile always a refreshing and top review , do look forward to seeing where you go and what's on the menu, and you do eat well , top bloke

Gary...In a world full of fake personalities and youtubers who act very "fake" and obnoxious , because they think having a gimmick is what gets them views...I must say its very refreshing to see a channel that is just normal , authentic and relatable . Love the energy you bring to every single review , Love from Kerala 🙌
Hey up mate I think the same as well
Here here absolutely 💯👍
Very well said. I had to look up Kerala, wow, what a great place.
@@edwardsp1916 hopefully you also looked to the food of Kerala
Yes it's very relaxing isn't it? In todays troubled world..Good food and wine and Gary's personality is a bit of escapism 😊
After your previous video where you took away the food to revamp at home, I'd be interested in a Gary Cooks spinoff. Would be really interesting to see what kind of things you cook up at home given your wealth of restaurant experience.
I might try that in the future 👍
@GaryEats definitely do it love.....even if u do it as a second channel. .....that said i do realise it's a lot of work with editing & uploading especially when u have a full time job too.
Yes! As I mentioned in a previous comment, about the offal toast to compete with Nigella's avocado nonsense.
I like that. Or a twist on the theme... Gary visits your house and you cook for him and camera man. Lot of side project ideas here.
This is a great idea Mark but I’d feel very bad ever criticising someone’s cooking in their home, fantastic idea though and will see what I can do
Wow that food looked great Gary . Thats a new tyrpe of food to me and its a must try . Thanks for a great stream 👍👍👍
The food was excellent and thank you so very much 👍👍
Gary looking so happy and content of and full to the gills 😅😅 great review as allways mate the food looked amazeballs

Thank you so very much Mike
I wondered the same.
I didn't understand why this wouldn't be a 10 also
I thought it was a little pricey
@@GaryEats that sounds strange you liked the food and it would feed two so compared to some ov your other reviews?

I really hope so Douglas
that beef(stew) looks right up my street
It was a lovely stew
Wow that was different Gary, thanks for introducing us to a new cuisine and what a beautiful restaurant. It looks a very eclectic range of food almost a cross between Chinese (dim sum) to Italian with the starter bread dish. Your description of ‘rustic’ was spot on as this is how I imagine Georgian life to be (as part of the former USSR). Once again, you are so lucky having access to this diversity in food in London 👍 10/10.
I agree we have such a variety and some restaurants are so good at what they do
Never had Georgian food but it looked delicious and the restaurant looked so lovely.
It’s definitely worth trying Susan if yo7 get a chance x
Wow, they don't skimp on portion sizes do they! I don't think I could even finish the first two dishes on my own, never mind the stew. Fair play to them for good value.
Really big portions 👌
Gary, Georgian restaurants are quite popular in New York (especially Brooklyn) and the Bustleton neighborhood of Philadelphia. The restaurant you're visiting has a better looking wine selection than any I've seen in the States. This is the world's most underestimated cuisine.
I agree a fantastic cuisine which I’ll definitely try again
the decor almost stopped my pavlovian response
😳👍
That restaurant is a lovely combination of elegance and rustic simplicity. Wow!
This was excellent
good research good video, this has been on my list for the last few months because of it going viral on social media, good choices on the traditional dishes i was looking into the dumplings too i hear some people eat the stalk but most people dont because the stalk is thick so it might not be fully cooked all the way through
This restaurant went viral? Wow
I hope the cameraman is ok
Lol he's fine, everyone always defends him Lauren lol he's a miserable git at times
I understand your point unfortunately it wasn’t easy to film as we’re trying and do it undercover, as he went absent, he deserved no food 😂😂
Really enjoyed watching you try something new and giving an enthusiastic review of the food.
Plenty enough for 2 so it wasnt that expensive. Thanks Gary for the introduction to a new taste sensation.
Very kind as always Jans thank you
Looks amazing. Especially starter. So different.
It was all quality Jeff
@GaryEats how often do you eat our Gary? I'm fairly new to your channel, just about a month, and I'm slowly trying to catch up. How do you keep your figure in check? PS. I'd love to see more deserts, especially in a Georgian restaurant Gary.
Since starting the channel? A few times a week and I try not to eat too much when not reviewing. I will do my best to do more desserts
@GaryEats I'd love to see a restaurant that does lots of old-fashioned deserts with custard - buffet style. Lots of custard.
Love your channel mate, it’s the only food show my partner and I watch. We would both love to see you take on a dessert occasionally. ✌️
