Out of all the Mavic tutorial videos, you have the most informative and easy to follow videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to run them.
Agree. Really appreciate Michael going through all the features in a such a clear way :)
Totally agree - Michael, keep them coming. ;-)
Joerg Kampers Photography Thanks!
Rolling Thunder Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. The Mavic has been a blast and I enjoy sharing the experience.
1-2-hak Thank you!👍
I'm getting the Fly More package, looks like in January, learning a lot from you. Thanks for all your hard work with these videos. I really appreciate it.
Ronald Cutaia No problem! I appreciate your viewership!👍
Like your videos a lot. I preordered my Mavic Fly More package and still hope it arrives before my Christmas vacation.
Learned a lot from your videos. Keep on the good work!
Greetings from over the pond
Joerg Kampers Photography Much appreciated Joerg! Hopefully it will be in soon! Thanks for stopping by! Cheers! 👍
Hi ,Great video, I just got my mavic and it has been snowing alot since I opened the box, and that has hampered me from getting out to test the functions, cleared a place to take off and land, watching alot of videos and read the manual and using the flight simulator has been helpful,, funny the sim needs the mavic on to enter sim but the motors dont run,, it just sits there with the lights on,
Damn, that moment when it was going for the rotors was nerve wrecking. Cannot imagine what was it like to actually be there. I would probably jump on the controls! 😅
Great vid! 👍
Mitja Skuver My perspective was off and didn't realize how close it was until I started editing this video!
Very informative and easy to understand tutorial, can you tap and fly, flying backwards just like dronie or pull back? cheers from Brunei
If I had to try to think of a use for this mode, I suppose it could be handy for when you want to fly the aircraft at a very consistent speed, while still having full control over its direction. It actually looks like it could be handy way to get some smoother shots for filming. I notice when you tap a new spot, the aircraft transitions smoothly to the new flight path. You could basically keep flying indefinitely without touching the sticks, by tapping around and adjusting the speed using the on-screen control. I can imagine that could come in useful at times. Now I'm gonna have to do some experimenting of my own! :-)
Thanks for sharing, great video! :)
Great series on the Mavic, I am sold!
Besides Mobizen, what do you use for your moving arrows and other graphics on the video?
BAROTIKI Much appreciated! I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro. ✔👍
Michael Kincaid
Ok thank you! Waiting for your next mavic vid...
In another mavic demo video... Someone used the tap to fly to make a hyper lapse video. I guess you can set the camera to take a photo every so many seconds and stitch them in post to make a video.
Brian Fernald I saw that as well, pretty cool!👍
you can touch different places while tapflying, which allows you to change direction during tapfly
Michael I guess you might be the best Mavic reviewer to ask this question since you post most of your vids as a recording from the DJI Go app. My question is does the device you connect (will be an iPhone in my case) to the remote running the DJI app have to have cellular data plan? The reason I ask is I was planning on using one of my old iPhones with the cellular service turned off. The overhead map view in the app appears to be google maps with overplayed graphics it seems to me this must be provided via a cellular data plan? What if you out of cell range?
Anyway thanks for all of the great reviews that just tease all of us that are just waiting waiting WAITING for our Mavics to arrive. Ordered mine on Oct 3rd.
David Maas Great question and the short answer is yes you can! I fly my Phantom 3 Pro with my non-serviced Samsung Galaxy S5. I honestly have never noticed if it affects Google maps but have not had any issues with locking in home point or any GPS functionality.
Mike, nice feature, which DJI only briefly mentioned on their intro video. Clearly explained as ever. Can you do a feature on the hand gestures etc. I'm hearing mixed views on it.
Best Mavic reviewer on the Web !
Miles Hebden I've tried the gestures with very limited luck, going to try and figure it out, hopefully video on that soon!
Great video, weather and location :-) But I didn't get it to be honest. What I think I'd figured out when watching your video is: Tap to fly on a object right in front of you with the same altitude makes not much sense - you could fly there in your own with the right stick forward.
What I think is that it can be useful is when you are in the air - say 150ft. and you want to land right in front of your feet in a straight line. When I want to do this, I usually use throttle and forward simultaneously to get as close as possible into a straight line. (rather then something like a step: forward, down, forward, down etc.).
It would be cool if you could do a test with you as the target (hopefully obstacle avoidance works well) and starting at 150ft altitude and lets say 300ft away.
John Coffee My thoughts exactly! Seems like it would make more sense if they would add a distance setting and from that point use as a cable cam.... TapFly destination, input distance you want it to fly and give options to move back and forth along that line....that would be my wish!
Great video. i use it to fly in a tree lined driveway or road :)
Wow, you're the best mavic reviewer out there so far.
You can be a teacher i guess. (I remember a mavic test inside a school).
Good Video Michael.
I hope dji sends you new drones (phantom 4 pro and inspire) for tutorials.
Mustafa ARTUC Still learning a ton myself with the Mavic, it's a great machine! I appreciate the kind words!👍
Mustafa ARTUC That's what I'm talking about! You hear that DJI?!! 😎
You asked a very good question - will the Mavic just keep flying until...?? If you Tap slightly above the horizon will it head towards outer space? If you Tap at a lower altitude will it just keep going until it finds the ground? I would like to understand how TapFly is SUPPOSED to work. The first time I used it I didn't notice the descent to only 50 ft. Then when I turned it around to bring it back it hit a tree. Bummer!
Many thanks for sharing. 👍 ✌
It's interesting that when you set the drone to 11mph in TapFly mode it would actually fly at 15 to 16mph
Great Video!
Allan Stryland 👍
Michael...Great videos btw...(nevermind you covered it in the video) :)
Scuba :-)
hi Michael, i like very much your mavic videos, i have a question about this funtion (tapfly) and lichi app, does this funtion works on litchi app? i want it to make a hyperlapse but the DJI app only give 10 seconds on autoshutter and i think is to slow, i am looking something like 2 to 5 seconds of autoshutter like litchi app, tanks and good work with your videos
I'm waiting to get mine and was wanting to get some drone videos at this same collegedale memorial park
Cayden Poe Great park and perfect for Tripod mode to get in some nice and close shots. 😆👍
eddie huang You're seriously nuts, please take your meds.
huang....you need help !...FFS what is your problem...care in the community i guess...
get lost
Mike...nice video, how were you recording the screen while flying?
W Watson I use a app for Android called Mobizen
Hi Michael! Love your videos. How do you record your screen while you're flying?
Keith Hubbard Thanks! I use a app for Android called Mobizen.
Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Thank you.
Michael. Thanks for this, please let us know what kind of SD Card you use ,I just got the SanDisk Pixtor 95 mb/s,there is something in the market better ?,
Fidelito in South Florida I've always used the supplied card that comes with DJI products. The Mavic came with a 16gb Lexar 633x card and it's worked just fine. Any high speed card should work just fine.
Michael Kincaid thanks Mike !! Agree with you on this !!
your the best thks
dhardjono 👍
Which app do you use to record the phone screen? Thanks!
Eduardo galvez I use a app for Android called Mobizen.
this sucks the mavic package I want to buy isn't available until Jan. 15. on Amazon, Oh well guess I will watch as many vids as I can to get an idea of what i'm getting into. First drone, do you think a beginner can handle it? I used to fly r.c. heli's but it's been a while.
John Thomson Yes..... The hardest learning curve is understanding the app. The Mavic will basically will fly itself. Take it slow and keep in beginner mode or tripod mode and you will be comfortable with it in no time!
Michael Kincaid awesome thanks
How are you actually stopping tap fly mode? With one of the preset buttons?
Mike Cox I hit the on-screen stop button on the very far left of the screen or on the controller there is a pause button you can hit.
what phone do you use for the mavic? I'm using the Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I have heard it has issues with the DJI go app. tried my first flight today in beginner mode. no issues. any thoughts or experiences. thank you
Rolling Thunder I use the S7edge and have had 2 app crashes but it's always been in conjunction with using my Mobizen screen recording app, I think with both apps running it really stresses the S7 out! 50+ flights so far with no issues!👍
Michael Kincaid excellent. I am stoked. thank you
So you just ignore the warnings about being in class C airspace or what? (honest question, not sarcastic)
Solora LTD. Certainly not ignore. No pushing the 400' ceiling and proceed with extreme caution (keeping flights low and well under 200').
what screen capture app was used to record this?
For Android it is AZ screen recorder..
Erik Olsen I use a app for Android called Mobizen
Can you yaw the plane when its flying on tab?
Fandy Dharmawan Yep, you have full control.
Mm
Useless feature in my opinion.
