    You mentioned accidentally stopping the blades and falling out of the sky. The CSC (Combination Stick Command) bit me once. I was recording for the motorcycle police, and was just hovering while waiting for the instructor to quit talking. I looked up and noticed they were all getting back on their bikes. This was a little ways away from me, so I really didn't hear my drone, andI forgot I was hovering. Out of habit, pulled the sticks down and out to start the blades and take off. Dropped 20 feet instantly, and fortunately, not on a police officer, lol. Cost me $500 for new camera and legs for my Phantom 3 Pro. My Mavic is being delivered by a brown truck today, so I am glad to see it has the CSC for "Breakdown Only" option.
    Love the vids Ed, thanks!

    I just discovered your channel last week and have been combing through your videos diligently in preparation for my arrival of my very own hormonal teenager:) I love your content and the sarcastic humor you include in your videos. I'm certain these tips will enable me to hit the ground running when my Mavic Pro arrives. Sorry I didn't purchase through your links, but now that I know a little about how you-tubers make money and how consumers can support your channel, I will definitely be conscious of that the next time I make a purchase:) Good up the good work!!

    Thanks for talking about the "Always/Breakdown" part. I don't think I've heard anyone else mention it. Seems like it should be number one on any of the beginner tutorials for the Mavic, or any drone that has that option. You're probably right, many people have probably lost their drones because of this.
    Also, love your videos. They are the most informative, and you are by far the easiest to learn from. My Mavic should be here within the week, and watching your videos makes me feel like I'm already flying it. I've only had a few minutes on a friends Mavic, but I've got a couple hours on a Phantom 4 at work. I've never had the time to adjust ANY settings, or figure out any Intelligent Flight Modes, but thanks to your channel I think it'll be a walk in the park now!

    I ordered the Mavic Pro on Amazon on Jan 3rd. Twice they gave me a delivery date between Feb 3 - Feb 23. They have retracted the delivery dates twice and now shows March 20th as the release date. DJI store now says they ship in a week. Buy from Ed and subscribe. He takes great videos and explains things well. Sorry Ed, I bought mine through the DJI store last week before your link.

I can tell you have experience in photography and your videos show that. I watched your unboxing. Mine is also a gift to myself. My wife hates it when she finds a gift from Santa to under the tree for me. Last year it was a Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst. Santa has a good taste in guitars too. Have you ever thought about being DJI's official (compensated) spokesperson...you certainly have the talent and abilities. You are on a pretty steep learning curve considering that you haven't had this drone very long and you are doing excellent instructional videos all by yourself...with no cue cards. If DJI's sales are any indication (with the Mavic backordered all over the world), they have created a booming market that needs a guy just like you who is doing it because it is fun. Don't get me wrong, doing things just for fun is really cool, but getting paid for it (more than just the commission from your link) makes it really sweet. I mean, they obviously have seen you work so how could they say no?

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 лет назад

      That's a cool idea Jim, I should! I applied for the DJI affiliate program without them having contacting me so I don't know if anyone specifically knows about my videos. I could definitely contact them. I'll see what I can find out.

    • @Jimidan1000
      @Jimidan1000 7 лет назад

      If they don't know about your videos, then that is even more reason why they need you. Where else are they going to find someone with your talents plus your love of their products? You fit the niche perfectly! Shucks, you are already doing their job better than they are, and for free!
      What DJI needs to take the next step in this explosive market is to create an online global community of DJI Drone Enthusiasts with a catchy name that echos the attitude of these amazing flying cameras. Currently, the DJI website is little more than a one page advertisement/catalog of their wares...it could be so much more. You could create a DJI Forum that would include a general discussion board, ask the factory experts, a knowledge vault of proper operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and possible customizing for all DJI drones. The site could facilitate DJI Drone groups, clubs, and events in the enthusiasts area and beyond. It could be a one stop clearinghouse for enthusiasts to post and coordinate their worthy DJI videos on the website.
      This has been done with great success in other niche activities like for instance with riders of Harleys. Membership to their HOG club "provides access to a world of exclusive benefits to help you get the most out of your ownership experience."
      There is nothing like making the customer feel like they are a member of an exclusive club to fuel sales. This is so effective as a integral part of their business model that HD makes more money off of their clothing line and accessories than off of the sales of their motorcycles. Now, that probably ain't gonna happen with DJI, but it just goes to show how creating enthusiasm for a product in this manner can really pay off.
      Every one of my friends who I tell about my desire to get into camera drones wants one too. I can't say that about any other product that I have been associated with.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 лет назад

      Hey thanks for watching! Basically the more you add to the ISO, the more grain shows up in the image...it's best to not shoot with a high ISO. Increasing the ISO is basically enhancing the image brightness within the camera, so that's essentially considered "gain" on some other video cameras.

      Thanks again... and if you discover how GAIN works I'd appreciate if you can share with us your points of view.

    • @EdRickerVlogs
      @EdRickerVlogs  7 лет назад

      From what I've read, Gain is the automatic aircraft operation, keeping the aircraft in control of itself. So with 100% across the board, you have a perfect hover (or automated flight path via Go App modes). Adding or taking away from the values in Gain will cause it to become unstable in flight, so they should only be adjusted if you already have instability. Sort of a manual way to calibrate the drone if you see it drifting/sinking/whatever without that corresponding human input.

    Be sure the RTH setting is just above the highest point in your flight are but not much more , the reason is quite often when RTH is engaged you are low on battery and if you have the RTH set to the max you are just wasting altitude and time and more importantly battery power. this could be the difference on making it back or going for a hike or worse yet a crash into something . I learned this the hard way of course thinking I would just set ti to the max height but then when I needed it was short on power and had to do a bit of a hike to get it as it will land automatically wherever if critically low on battery , had a set the RTH just above the highest point in my flight area I would have made it back easily , takes a lot of power to go vertical and not as much for forward flight.
