  • Here is a look at how to dial in the Yaw & Gimbal speed on the Mavic Pro for better aerial video.
    Here are my preferred settings of the main topics covered here - try them and dial yours in to your preferred style and feel..
    - Drone - Advanced - EXP - Rudder setting to .20 to slow down the rotation speed
    - Drone - Advanced - Stick Filtering - Yaw Endpoint - 50% - to maximize speed of rotation
    - Camera - Advanced Settings - Gimbal Speed 20 - slow down gimbal speed
    - Camera - Advanced Settings - Gimbal Tilt Limit - Turn on 30% extensible - to allow a tilt UP of the gimbal
    - Camera - Advanced Settings - Gimbal Pan Synchronous Follow - Turn on - to buffer gimbal left / right movement
    - Camera - Advanced Settings - Gimbal Start/Stop Buffer - Set at 17 - eliminates the jerky gimbal start stop.

    Thanks for taking the time to show and tell WHERE in the settings all of these changes take place. I have seen a few others who have either had the wrong labels on the settings or just assumed we all knew exactly where these individual settings are located.

    I knocked my yaw expo down to .10. Its tripod slow and gives me great results. My rudder right/forward expo is @ .15
    I put my up/down expo @ .20
    It handles like a slug at high speeds and feels super heavy but man is my video SMOOTH!! Out of the box from the factory it handles like an epileptic robot having a seizure. Really jerky and and the gimbal jumps to the roll inputs and jerks to a stop.
    If you haven't tried the expo adjustments I highly recommend that you try it.
    Great tutorial sir!!👍

    Sir, Thank you, thank you for your video on Fine Tuning the Mavica Pro. I have been searching for a variety of solutions and your presentation answered all my queries. Yes I had to back and forward a bit and pause. I am not 100% yet of changing the options but managed to crack it. I think my EV is out at -2 but a run am hopefully should sort this out. I am in the UK and the weather to say the least is a bit changeable ! One guy mentioned that he was old enough to remember Maverick. Me John Wayne in Stagecoach. Brian.

    • @sportbikes
      @sportbikes  7 лет назад

      Thanks. Remember is the EV is about exposure and trying to best balance the higs and lows, since there is limited adjustments for this on the camera. That is why ND filters really help on the sunny days.

    • @brianvalente3071
      @brianvalente3071 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the reply.

    • @sportbikes
      @sportbikes  7 лет назад

      another thought... When you say the EV is out, I hope you are considering the actual video, vs the ''controller view, which could appear to be way off due to lighting conditions. If you find the EV is constantly off... I would call (email) support. Seems problematic and not something I would live with.

    Videos like these are going to help those people (like me) impatiently waiting for their Mavics to arrive to become more familiar with the bird and how to control it in advance, rather than launching them without thinking about these important settings. Worst thing about the (often otherwise beautiful) videos from Mavic owners is the distractingly excessive panning speed. One thing which would be useful would be a summary of your preferred settings in the description and for future videos, at the start of the video for those people who want to return later and grab the settings quickly. Thanks.

    ok i see how its a smooth yaw, but how do you get the yaw not to be jerky and a sudden stop when you get your hands off of the sticks? what i mean is i want the yaw to follow through when you stop the yaw and not come to a sudden stop which makes it jerky and a sudden stop.kind of like the gimble up and down start stop buffer it follows through like a delay and then it stops. i hope im explaining this right. lol. thanks for any info

    About the Gimbal Pan Synchronous Follow. Do you mind making a short video of the difference while the quad is hovering. I can see the difference on the ground but not while airborne. While in the air the gimbal behaves exactly the same for me, no matter if the setting is on or off.

    Great Video, very helpfull. Regarding the gimbal tilt limit, when 30 degrees extensible is on, you will probably have more interference with the propellers. did you try it?

    • @sportbikes
      @sportbikes  7 лет назад

      Yes, in forward flight you will get more prop image in extensible, but I like it. Slower forward movement will still keep them out of sight.

    hey im getting these connection problems when im flying, when im looking at my phone, the picture gets messed up and distorted as if im losing connection..
    also, ive had issues flying far after about less than half a kilometer away, i start to lose vision feed on my phone, which is really scary.. yet ive seen people on youtube videos fly their mavics miles away from them, and have no vision connection problems.. is there something wrong with my drone or am I doing something wrong?
    any feedback on those things is much much appreciated, the customer service at DJI is not the best and I dont want to mail my drone back because of these things that i hope are fixable..
    only thought i had was my Samsung galaxy S5 is not a good phone for this? not sure.. but I cant get a new phone right now..

    Pity that you don't speak about camera settings: I noticed that your camera settings are not ( am I wrong?) on automatic, but you've choosen a manual setting about iso and shutter speed..I'm very confused about that and I'm afraid that going out of automatic, my exposures will be wrong....I highly reccommend a video made by you on camera settings! Thanks again for the video!
