Today, we’re going to be talking about Nicki Minaj’s third studio record, "The Pinkprint" and why this record cemented her as a true force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
Having plentiful success before the release of the record, "The Pinkprint" offered audiences a brand new look into Nicki’s life, one some have described as more authentic than what was previously seen with efforts such as "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded".
"The Pinkprint" let audiences not only peek, but become absorbed into the inner workings of Nicki Minaj’s life, and allowed her to showcase a variety of skills that had truthfully been in question since her debut, "Pink Friday", whether we were aware of it or not.

Well, leave it to me to mix up numbers... again! 😅I incorrectly state "The Pinkprint" released in 2015, as opposed to 2014. The release date was the 15th of December and I got mixed up so I said 2015. My apologies all, minor slip up...I'm only human ❤️

The pinkprint is so nostalgic to me. I was 16 and it came out the day I was going to my grandmother's house. I had to illegally download it on my phone to listen to it haha. But seriously it holds a special place in my heart. My favorites are The crying game, get on your knees, pills and potions, and the night is still young

It's crazy how Pinkprint era alone has sold 85 million units worldwide. It's the era with most platinum plaques. The album sold 5 million pure copies worldwide. Also, with the Pinkprint, she set a new trend. She literally changed her fashion and introduced inches and brought a new look that new female rappers are mimicking. But she hasn't reached her peak yet. If you follow her interviews, she's always wanted her 5th album to cement her legendary status. That's why she wanted to get married and have a child before her 5th album.
Her impact is very incredible. Can't wait for her next record!
LOL!!! 85 million units?? that's a complete lie. Where do your numbers come from? Even 5 million for the album is inflated. It's only certified platinum or more in USA. It's gold in another 4 countries: UK, Sweden, Poland and Denmark. No way it sold 5 million. Besides that, the only real global hit was Anaconda. The rest of the singles were urban hits (Truffle butter and Only) or flops (Pills and potions, bed of lies and The night is still young). JEEZ.

You can Google how many albums Nicki has sold. In 2019, she sold 15-18 million copies world wide. The Pinkprint has 14 songs eligible for gold and higher. Anaconda alone is eligible for 4X platinum but it's certified for 2X platinum in the US. Only is eligible for 5X platinum, Feeling myself is eligible for 4X platinum. You should rather do your research well honey. Pinkprint era includes bangbang which has sold 8 million units worldwide. The era sold many copies across all board.

This album set the tone for what new school female rappers would be presented, combining their mainstream pop appeal while still maintaining the importance of their talents as lyrical MC rappers/artists and challenging hip-hop’s sexist status quo of genders politics being involved who’s the GOAT MC for the culture. This paved the way for Doja cat, Megan thee stallion, young m.a. etc to follow similar structure. Nicki as well as M.I.A. deserves her flowers for bringing a new era for female rappers and changing it from preconceived notions that was known about female rappers before

@@gobbleswells2883 uhhh no she was inspired by Kim and let it be known throughout the first years of her career however Nicki developed her own style, sound and overall artistry in her own right, plus Nicki was more inspired by Kim fashion style and persona than she was inspired by Kim music, if you listen to Nicki music and analysis her rapping talent you would know Nicki is musically and lyrically more inspired by Jay Z, Nas, Lauryn hill, foxy brown, lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, and M.I.A.

I don’t think there’s a single rapper (male or female) who can put out an album that has anything on The Pinkprint. Nicki gave us everything. Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, uptempo dance songs, down tempo ballads, some iconic hits, etc. Doesn’t matter if she isn’t the most popular rapper in the game anymore. She created a legacy which paved the way for all the newer female rappers to find their own success (which Nicki helped them by offering to collaborate with them and support them in the industry which everyone seems to forget).
I just wish that she’d been able to break into the streaming era more seamlessly. From 2016 (when I personally think the streaming era took over) to 2018 (when “Queen” was released), she had some hits as a featured artist with “Side To Side”, “No Broken Hearts”, “Swish Swish”, “Kissing Strangers”, “Light My Body Up”, and “Swalla” (while also releasing “No Frauds” as the lead artist). But, without an album to solidify herself in the streaming era, that definitely left the door open for another female rapper to take over the market (which we saw with Cardi B).
It’s like a comment I left on the Little Mix video. The US market only has the tolerance for one female in every area of music. They only wanted one female rapper. And, since Nicki didn’t hold onto her spot, the market moved on from her. Fortunately, it seems like that trope is beginning to fade away as we have Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, etc. all finding success without it seeming like a competition. But, Nicki still hasn’t been able to regain the popularity she once held.
Anyways, great vid as always! I’d love to see one on “Pink Friday” and if we ever get NM5 lol 💕

Yeah, I kinda wish Nicki dropped some sort of project of her own during 2016-2017. That really would've helped her adapt more naturally to the streaming era, and I don't think if she did that, she would've been so easily blackballed.
Nicki issue was the hip hop radio stations blackballing her when she tried to comeback and all the drama that they gave her. She now has Irving as her manager and he said he will fix her radio problem. I believe he will. Irving is a heavy weight in the industry and radio. Hip hop radio already started being nici to Nicki again somewhat. The radio stations even tried to blackball jayz at 1 point. He talks about it in 99 problems and you see it didnt work. I really think NN5 is going to EPIC nicki has already started moving differently.
Nicki did what she had to do to get in the pop world and once she got that following she did what she wanted!.. she knew what she was doing that’s why I have so much respect for her
