Thanks so much Natalie!! I'm from Australia and have been following you on instagram for some time now! I find your messages and material so accessible, engaging, empowering and informative! Loved this video and found your explanations so helpful. I am really keen to see what's to come and would be interested to learn more about painful periods in the future if that's at all possible. We still have such a long way to go in terms of making discussion about women's reproductive function a normal part of life. I remember growing up thinking that it was normal to be in so much pain during menstruation and that fainting was just part and parcel of having periods. Thank you for all that you do in this space Natalie :)

Many women who go raw vegan stop having periods or they get extremely lite and not every month, have you looked into that? I noticed this myself when I was younger and shifted my diet to primarily vegan. The pain goes away also.

Period is day 1 of full flow? Not spotting? My doctor says spotting counts? But this pretty/smart doctor on youtube says full flow. 😧*confused*

    • @CycleCoachAcademy

When our period starts as spotting, it means that progesterone needs some support. Progesterone is responsible for excreting all the blood from our uterus and vaginal canal. If you have spotting, that is usually left over blood from your last cycle. Do you know how to support progesterone with nutrition and exercise?

Wonderfully explained! I still wonder when is the best time to measure Progesterone levels (in order to determine if a woman is likely to have an insufficient Corpus luteum and will need some extra Progesterone to keep a pregnancy... :) )
    Thank you Nat, awesome work.

Hi! progesterone varies between 3-40 ng/mL throughout the luteal phase - depends on time drawn to a normal LH pulse. So many good studies have shown that checking progesterone in the luteal phase is not helpful except to confirm ovulation. Women who need extra progesterone are those who may have sings of luteal phase deficiency (short luteal phase, luteal spotting) or prior pregnancy loss. Thank you!!!

“Day 1 of period is first day of full flow in the morning”. So does this mean that if I’m spotting & cramping for 2-3 days before full flow, that doesn’t count as my period? What is that spotting then? (I was recently diagnosed with PCOS, so this is all new to me)

I had my IUD (paragard so nonhormonal) removed in October to begin trying for a baby, my periods since then have been kinda messed up, theyre later than usual. Should I wait to track ovulational until it regulates itself? Im honestly shocked im not pregnant yet, I thought it was easy to get pregnant. To be fair i had no idea there was a fertile window when you should try until a few weeks ago so maybe thats why im not pregnant, idk im kinda stressing worrying i wont have a baby ):

Can you still carry a baby if you have endometriosis? My aunt has it and she is unable to carry a baby and she found out she was unable to conceive and didn't have healthy eggs to harvest. Is it the same for everyone or does it differ? Thanks for the awesome video!

    • @NatalieCrawfordMD

so many factors here, endometriosis can still carry a pregnancy but can significantly impact fertility! I always recommend early interventions to preserve fertility in endo patients.

I have endometriosis, and in my experience it was extremely difficult to get pregnant both times. The first time, I miscarried fraternal twins. The second time, I had a chorionic hemorrhage but I was able to carry over 38 weeks with my son! He’s perfectly healthy and awesome. It’s definitely possible.

Hello! Thank you so much for your video! Very informative! I have a couple of questions:
-How many days after ovulation do you have until your next period starts?
    - what happens to the follicles that are not matured in the ovaries?
-How long does the corpus luteum stay in the ovaries and where does it go once it’s job is complete?
Thank you, Doctor, for your time in making these videos! I believe all women should be experts on their own menstral cycle and you are definitely helping in that area! Cant wait to see your video on PCOS!!

    • @CycleCoachAcademy
      @CycleCoachAcademy 3 года назад +1

To answer your question about ovulation and follicles...the day after ovulation, your luteal phase starts. That usually lasts most women 11-16 days. The follicles that don't mature in the ovary, stay in the ovary and wait to be chosen to mature!
